A Space Idiocy

2001  -- 2011
by Pat Darnell

" ... 2001: A Space Odyssey is a 1968 epic science fiction film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick, and co-written by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke. The film deals with thematic elements of human evolution, technology, artificial intelligence, and extraterrestrial life. It is notable for its scientific realism, pioneering special effects, ambiguous imagery that is open-ended to a point approaching surrealism, sound in place of traditional narrative techniques, and minimal use of dialogue. [Y Ikki Peed Ya] ... "

But, what happened to that kind of science fiction. 2001: A Space Odyssey was the "only" Sci Fi Flick that I know of, that tried to show "weightlessness." How about it. There followed epic series of science fiction sagas like -- Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Farscape, LEX, Doctor WHO, and StarGate stuff, and not one deals with humans' floating in micro gravities of space... not one.

It bothers me so much I always look at the floors of the stage set in the episodes... kind of a throwback to the Yellow Brick Road from OZ. Here is 'me' watching Sci Fi: 'Is that really brick; or just tile?'

Weightlessness is too complicated for filming the mundane soap-operatic doings of these "driven" explorers of "out there?" We did get a glimplse of the "raison d' arte" of the Monoliths that  were introduced in 2001: ASO as shown in 2010: " ... 2010 (also known as 2010: The Year We Make Contact) is a 1984 American science fiction film written and directed by Peter Hyams. It is a sequel to the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey, and is based on Arthur C. Clarke's novel 2010: Odyssey Two, a literary sequel to the film. ... "

And look at this about the Jupiter Mission Movie, 2001: ASO -- " ... It was nominated for four Academy Awards, and received one for visual effects. In 1991, it was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. (YIPY, ibid) ... "

Those Monoliths are probably in a storage facility, or in someone's back yard serving their years as planters. That's my guess.

MooPig Site Reviews :: "Ancient Alphabets"

(SOURCE)

The enhanced digital image above was taken following its discovery by producer, Lee Frank, while filming the zone's expedition, deep in the remote canyons of southeast Colorado. It is a simple but remarkably well preserved script that illustrates the use of the traditional old Negev alphabet but reverting to the archaic form to reference the name of God, or EL.
Lee chose to name the important discovery after Rollin Gillespie, a remarkable scientist whose insight and intellect first stimulated our interest in American petroglyphs. It is now known as The Gillespie Stone. [N 37 38'13.53" / W 103 35'13.76"]

TRANSLATION:

The upper left ligature has three letters. The yod and resh are immediately recognized, as well as a rare inclusion of the vowel aleph. This ligature reads yaRE, "fear, respect, to hold in awe..."

See the old Negev alphabet and modern Hebrew equivalent. Also, remember that vowels are not usually written in old Negev.

_____________
Background Information
" ... After the Expedition of '98, when we first saw these strange petroglyphs, ViewZone was anxious to return to Colorado to translate the petroglyphs using the recently discovered old Negev alphabet in combination with an old Hebrew lexicon. Our dreams became a reality in May of 2000 and the team assembled in La Junta, Colorado, equipped with all of the hi-tech tools that we could gather.

La Junta, Colorado is a small town in the middle of the most remote part of the lower 48 states. Surrounded by miles of prairie, it's raison d'etre (a US Calvary outpost that guarded the sana Fe trail) was renewed by American's insatiable appetite for meat. La Junta is smack dab in the middle of "meat country." The railroad terminal and livestock auctions in La Junta are giant death camps for a variety of stock.

The country around La Junta is dry and sandy with many deep and rocky canyons. Most of the vast land is either privately owned or sublet from the government by huge cattle ranchers. ... Cattle rustling and arrowhead hunting ... most locals were wary of strangers and guarded revealing geographic information. Oddly, they seem completely unaware and uninterested in the archaeological significance of the petroglyphs. Many privately owned ancient sites are currently being trampled by herds of Herefords.
PHOTO [SOURCE]
Ted Barker, a local rancher who has devoted years to petroglyph research, negotiated for the ViewZone Expedition to gain access to many of the important, privately held sites containing examples of old Negev. The biggest surprise, however, was that many of the most intact and useful sites were located on the extremes of the National Grasslands area, a public park.

Conclusion:
With the evidence our crew discovered, there should be no doubt that a migratory group from the Sinai occupied America many hundreds of years BC. In fact, much of the old Negev script that we documented was itself written over much older, more crudely drawn, Negev script. We saw countless evidence of at least two eras of Negev-like symbols, as well as the Plains Indian scrapings and the latter so-called "cowboy art" from the traffic of the near by old Santa Fe Trail.

While we await the scrutiny of the scholars to acknowledge our work, and to do their own research, we will continue translating and posting our material. We invite anyone with an interest to share in this exciting exploration of ancient history by using the translation program and viewing future images as they are reviewed by our team. ... (SOURCE)

MooPig State of the Union Address Review :: "SPUTNIK Moment, HUNH?"

Sputnik was the 184-pound satellite that the Soviet Union launched into outer space on Oct. 4, 1957
by Pat Darnell

Here I am pondering my ballooning midriff, my unsolicited belly fat bubble weighing in at about 185 pounds, and there goes that upstart crow, Barry Obama, saying, "... "This is our generation's Sputnik moment," Obama also said." ... As a result, we need to fund ... a level of research and development we haven't seen since the height of the space race," ... "
"It's hard to see how he or the Congress can resolve this contradiction—Kennedy-esque vigor and investment on the one hand, Ike-like torpor and penny-pinching on the other. He said much of this extra money could be freed up by eliminating subsidies for the oil companies. First, good luck on that. And second, that alone won't free up enough. (Kaplan, Fred. Jan 25, 2011. HERE)"
Raw is better than boring, so this launch set the pace for the USA space program up to today. The USSR, Soviets, had launched a ball the size of a heavy weight boxer into outer space and " ... "It really doesn't matter whether the satellite has any military value. The important thing is that the Russians have left the earth and the race for control of the universe has started." (Reedy, George. circa 1960's. His emphasis.)
" ... John Kennedy ran for president in 1960, promising a "new frontier" founded on "vigor." Early in his term, he directly responded to Sputnik in two ways: He poured money into the Minuteman ICBM program (both before and after he realized that the missile gap was a myth). And he pledged to land an American on the moon by the end of the decade. (Kaplan, Fred. ibid.) ... "

MooPig Movie Reviews: Nippon Cinema "Demon Spies -- Oniwaban"

S[j]ong in Search of a Cinema :: the woman inside the man, the man inside the woman
Correlated Captures by Pat Darnell and Dr Ellen Riley

Has anyone ever heard the description "half-man :: half woman" to describe a person? MooPig has heard this in many cultures, but in mostly Oriental cultures. We do not encourage this description, because we think wars have been started by saying it about others... yet there is a mystical Truism in its implicit meanings.

Those who argue for the distinctions Dr Carl Jung brings to the table of mapping human psychology, we admit that our MooPig Parolees who have embraced Jung's gentle, yet magnifying concepts, have done so with mounting success. Somehow Jung has confronted the mystical staging of transgender and provided many with advice that releases them of burdens.
It can be identified as the totality of the unconscious feminine psychological qualities that a male possesses; or the masculine ones possessed by the female. The anima is usually an aggregate of a man's mother but may also incorporate aspects of sisters, aunts, and teachers.
Cinema Link:  http://www.nipponcinema.com/trailers/demon_spies/
A group of children are trained to be assassins known as “Demon Spies” deep in the mountains of feudal Japan. Their identities remain secret and they’re subjected to fatal tests to prove their skills. Eventually a group of five are sent on a deadly mission to discover and destroy a secret arsenal while Lord Shogen, the Demon Hunter attempts to destroy them.

We think in the race to globalize human nature to levels of bifurcated Bernaysian splendor, that we ought to go to the source, the root of all frenetic self-delusional, anti-thesis, neo-squidbilly, hunter-gatherer, tendencies we neo-cosmo-politan humans have as a future population nine billion strong rapidly approaches: Consumerism Organized Posses of Child Demon Spies and Economic Hitmen ... ??

And a really good source for the future demographic is Carl Jung, as interpreted by The Creatures, "Miss the Girl..." or no?

Anima and animus
From Wikipedia, ... The anima and animus, in Carl Jung's school of analytical psychology, are the unconscious or true inner self of an individual, as opposed to the persona or outer aspect of the personality. In the unconscious of the male, it finds expression as a feminine inner personality: anima; equivalently, in the unconscious of the female, it is expressed as a masculine inner personality: animus.
For the album by The Creatures, see Anima Animus. Anima Animus is the third album to be released by British duo The Creatures aka singer Siouxsie and musician Budgie. The title of the album was inspired by Carl Jung's concept of transgender, the woman inside the man, the man inside the woman. The record was released in 1999.

PJ Harvey selected Anima Animus in her Top 10 Albums of 1999. She posted it on her official site in January 2000.
Conclusion:
Now it should be adequately clear that we have absolutely no idea what we are dealing with... and that is why we continue on the Brain Industries byline; hoping that soon some one smart will step up and say "Smile, everything is going to be all right."

01/11/11 - Haiti Dominates Earthquake Fatalities in 2010 [HERE]
While the U.S. Geological Survey recorded 22 magnitude-7 or larger earthquakes in 2010, almost all the fatalities were produced by one — the major quake that hit Haiti on Jan. 12.
In 2010, about 227,000 people were killed due to earthquakes, with over 222,570 from the magnitude-7.0 Haiti event, as reported by the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

According to official estimates, the Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti injured 300,000 people, displaced 1.3 million, and left 97,294 houses destroyed and 188,383 damaged in Port-au-Prince and much of southern Haiti. This includes at least four people killed by a local tsunami in the Petit Paradis area near Léogâne. According to the USGS, this large, shallow earthquake produced violent shaking in Léogâne, west of Port-au-Prince. This shaking level can cause damage even to well-built buildings anywhere in the world. In Haiti, this high-intensity shaking together with both buildings vulnerable to earthquakes and high population exposure resulted in catastrophe.

MooPig Site Review :: "That Nagging Little unresolved Question ..."

Has SATAN really entered the Body of the Person Known as ...?
Site Review by Pat Darnell

LINK -- http://serveajudge.org/public/

...Barack Obama, aka: Barack Obama, Jr., aka: Barack Hussein Obama, aka: Barry Soetoro; aka: Barry Obama; aka: Barack Obama, presumed President of the United States; ...???

The Grand Jury Presentments presented herein have been handed down by virtue of the rights vested under Amendment 1 and 5:

Amendment I of the United States Constitution

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Amendment V of the United States Constitution

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictmentof a Grand Jury..

Constitutional “standing” regarding these presentments is therefore vested with the People.

Such standing by the People shall then require that the Judicial Court determine if the criminal activity being charged in said Presentments are indeed in violation of Constitutional law and if so, the Court must act to prosecute such charges.

Each Jury member was eligible as follows:

1) A citizen of the United States;
2) A citizen of eighteen (18) years or older;
3) A resident of a State chartered within the United States of America;
4) Was in possession of his/her natural faculties, of ordinary intelligence, of sound judgment and of fair character;
5) Possessed a sufficient knowledge of the English language;
6) Were not serving as a trial juror in any court;
7) Had not been convicted of a malfeasance in office, a felony, or other high crime;
8) Were not serving as an elected public officer.

Each Jury member did SWEAR or AFFIRM as follows:

“That I (jury member) shall diligently inquire, and true presentment make, of all such matters as may be given me before the jury, or shall come to my knowledge, touching such service. I shall present no person through prejudice or ill will, nor leave any un-presented through fear or favor, but in all my presentments shall endeavor to present the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth (affirmed) or so help me God (sworn).”

That Obama is NOT eligible under the laws of the Constitution of the United States as provided for in Article II, Section 1.

Said Article II, Section 1 states:

“No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

Wherefore, Obama is not a “natural born” Citizen for the following reasons:

1) Obama was NOT born of mother and father who were BOTH US Citizens.

2) Obama was a British Citizen “at birth.”

3) Obama was born in Kenya.

4) Obama's mother did not meet US Immigration laws necessary to pass US Citizenship to Obama.

See Count One “EVIDENCE” Exhibits 1, 2, 3 and 4 attached hereto and made a part hereof.

MooPig Charity Review :: "Out to Save the World"

Guiding Principles
The 15 principles below reflect the Gates family's beliefs about the role of philanthropy and the impact they want this foundation to have. The principles guide what we do, why we do it, and how we do it.

While many of them are fundamental to the way we operate, we will remain open to amending them as we grow and learn more about our work.

Guiding Principle #1: This is a family foundation driven by the interests and passions of the Gates family.

Guiding Principle #2: Philanthropy plays an important but limited role.

Guiding Principle #3: Science and technology have great potential to improve lives around the world.

Guiding Principle #4: We are funders and shapers—we rely on others to act and implement.

Guiding Principle #5: Our focus is clear—and limited—and prioritizes some of the most neglected issues.

Guiding Principle #6: We identify a specific point of intervention and apply our efforts against a theory of change.

Guiding Principle #7: We take risks, make big bets, and move with urgency. We are in it for the long haul.

Guiding Principle #8: We advocate—vigorously but responsibly—in our areas of focus.

Guiding Principle #9: We must be humble and mindful in our actions and words. We seek and heed the counsel of outside voices.

Guiding Principle #10: We treat our grantees as valued partners, and we treat the ultimate beneficiaries of our work with respect.

Guiding Principle #11: Delivering results with the resources we have been given is of the utmost importance—and we seek and share information about those results.

Guiding Principle #12: We demand ethical behavior of ourselves.

Guiding Principle #13: We treat each other as valued colleagues.

Guiding Principle #14: Meeting our mission—to increase opportunity and equity for those most in need—requires great stewardship of the money we have available.

Guiding Principle #15: We leave room for growth and change.

Haiti's Lame Duck

One Year After the Earthquake, Baby Doc goes to Haiti ...
by Pat Darnell

Interview with Haiti President Rene Preval:   |  [SOURCE]
On 12th January 2010, the world was exposed to terrible images of the earthquake in Haiti.

A year on, President René Préval’s defended his government’s handling of the disaster in an interview with euronews.

Sophie Desjardin, euronews:

We saw the pictures of the collapsed presidential palace, and numerous ministries were destroyed. How do you lead a state when part of its infrastructure is in ruins?

President René Préval:

We had 300,000 dead, 300,000 injured. We had destruction equivalent to 120% of our GDP that we calculate to be around 8 billion dollars. In other words a huge humanitarian disaster, and also serious damage to infrastructure. Haiti lost many schools, many churches, many public buildings. All the ministries fell down, the palace, the parliament and we lost 30% of our civil service staff. It’s a big tragedy.

euronews:

For a year there’s been criticism of your secrecy, some say absence. You were not seen or heard after the earthquake. Why such reserve?

President Préval:

When the earthquake struck, I was feeding my little one-year-old girl. I saved her. I went out into the street, I saw so many dead, the roads were strewn with bodies. I was at the hospital, it was hardly possible to walk. I heard people crying under the debris. And really that was all very emotional. It’s said that the biggest emotions are silent ones, I now understand that saying, I now understand why. I was speechless, and it was difficult for me to express my emotion at that time.

euronews:

The NGOs on the ground deplore the lack of action or decisiveness at a political level. They say they are filling the vacuum left by the state. How has it come to that?

President Préval:

The day after the disaster, the international community rallied with extraordinary generosity. And then after six months there was the reconstruction phase. An interim commission for reconstruction was formed, and on 31st March the international community undertook promises worth 11 billion dollars. Today around two billion (worth) of projects are already submitted, and a billion and a half (dollars worth) have begun.

Haiti cannot (get by alone) given the current state of its potential, which was already weak – don’t forget that 60% of Haiti’s budget is backed by external aid – so we are waiting for promises to become reality, making tangible what’s been undertaken. I should add that we can’t do things again in the same way. No longer can we rebuild shanty towns. The moment has come to found Haiti once again: that means taking care of the provinces that were abandoned for so long.

euronews :

The first round of the presidential election in December brought violence and plunged the country into political crisis. The commission of experts evaluating the process recommended that Jude Celestin be excluded from the 2nd round. He’s your chosen candidate, what’s your reaction?

René Préval, Haitian president:

I’ve not yet received this report. I’ve asked for it to be handed to me after 12th January, after we’ve come together to pray for our dead.

Sophie Desjardin, euronews :

The report’s conclusions have been all over the agency wires since yesterday. I’d just like to know your feeling about the elections. What will happen if Jude Celestin is ousted from the 2nd round?

President Préval:

The elections took place, we had some problems and we asked the OAS (Organization of American States) to come and verify what happened – so that each candidate could see in all transparency why they had votes taken away. And that will reassure them, so that each accepts the position assigned to him, so that we can continue the electoral process.

euronews :

You’ve spent almost 10 years in power. Once dubbed the “Pearl of the Caribbean”, for decades Haiti has been struck by multiple disasters. Have you ever been disheartened?

President Préval:

Indeed this term in office has been very difficult yet despite that, we’ve still had some significant results. Inflation has come down from 13% to 5%. We’ve had growth where GDP had been negative before we arrrived, and we ended last year with growth of 3.5%. So (there’ve been) lots of problems but also some success.

One of Haiti’s problems is instability. I have been the only president to complete his mandate, the only president not to go into exile, the only president who stayed at home and got re-elected, and I hope to be able to hand over power to an elected president and an elected parliament, so that stability comes to Haiti.

MooPig Report from the Middle :: Judge NOT lest Ye be JUDGED ... PART THREE

Collision with Animal
by Pat Darnell

I am a careful driver. However, not always have I been a good driver. I have my moments of lapse, like this morning.

It turns out in our last ten days, several unusual things happened in Middle America. Birds fell from the sky in Arkansas, and fish died along coastlines in that state and others. It rained heavily here in Bryan\College Station TX, after not raining for ten months. Then we had to turn on the furnace for all day and night on several of those days, because it was cold. Water in the buckets outside had ice in them all day and night for two days of freezing. Yep.

The Brazos still has no cane, and cattlemen are taking their yearling's to auction. The rocker arms in the fields are rocking, so that means the gas prices are going up. Gas was $2.99.9 at the double cross station, EXXON, on Tuesday.

I have a nagging head cold, because just before this rain and cold snap, I was out washing the cars and got a bona fide heat stroke. I had chosen a sunny day, not knowing it was 88 degrees on December 21st. Of course there was a precipitation shower that day after cars were dry.

Wavering high margins of cold, freezing northers, while the next day is hot, muggy, weather, makes old organs in middle-aged men, as I, rebel. Those carotid arteries start to ache.

I work nights, in home healthcare, and this Friday I drove out at 6:45 AM as usual. Sun was not up yet. Headlights on, I drove in low gear, not over 50 mph, to let my engine and transmission warm up.

You can guess what happened. Just as I was adjusting stuff in my "Dodge NEON" a blur appears at my front bumper. It is the apparition of a deer. I hit the hind quarter with my right fender. DRAT!

If I had been going the speed limit, 70 mph, it would have been a crash. This was a bump. But it burst my headlight, and stunned me. Luckily no air bag deployed.

It was still dark out and I could not see where the deer went. It disappeared as quickly as it had showed up. Is it deer season? Was this fella being chased, and dashed across five lanes of a highway at that precise instant to engage my little car?

"Don't think about the coincidence," says my wife. "It'll drive you nuts."

The damages come to $1100 and it is covered because we carry comprehensive insurance. If I only carried liability, I would be out this whole amount. The car has 104,000 miles odometer. I drive it to and from work, and it still gets 30 miles per gallon. Yes, I am intimidated by all the RAM Dualies that hug my rear bumper.

The deer I hit could have been any where from 500 to 1200 pounds heavy, and could have destroyed my front end. Said others, in effort to console me, good salty friends that they are; "I had a buddy right in front of our shop hit a 1200 pound buck with his truck. Major damage; major!"

"One woman hit a deer that flipped up into her windshield, and the impact blew out the rear window in her Impala," said another pilgrim. "She was freaking out because her car was covered in ticks and lice."

My daughter even pipes in; it turns out, she has a girlfriend who is so into the whole venison thing she will find deer in the road and try to take them out with her daddy's truck, toss the deer in the truck bed, and drive it home for them to process.

I just drove on home with no other surprises, doing my thing in mornings; getting coffee and listening to the radio. Then I casually told wife and children I hit a deer.

That's my story from the Middle: where women are strong, men are good looking, and the children follow their parents' examples.

East Texans’ Bad Health and Bad Habits Promote a ‘Stroke Belt’ - NYTimes.com

East Texans’ Bad Health and Bad Habits Promote a ‘Stroke Belt’ - NYTimes.com: EXCERPT: " ... In a community where heavy eating and chain smoking are prevalent, where poverty, hardheadedness and even suspicion hinder access to basic health care, residents die at an average age of 73 — seven years earlier than the healthiest Texans, according to a preliminary county-by-county analysis by the University of Washington Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. Black males live to be just 65. And white men outlive black men by roughly six years, one of the largest disparities by race in the state. Indeed, life expectancy lags across most of East Texas, which lives up to the grim medical nickname the Stroke Belt.

The early deaths are the result of high rates of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancers, afflictions directly linked to lifestyle choices, including poor diet and smoking. Anderson County’s hospitalizations for preventable conditions like congestive heart failure, high blood pressure and adult asthma far outpace the state average."

The Effect Of Rising Food Prices On Political Stability : NPR

The Effect Of Rising Food Prices On Political Stability : NPR: "SIEGEL: 2008 is not a comforting thought, though. During that year, when food prices hit their previous peak, there were food riots in Bangladesh, in Haiti, Egypt, Cameroon. Dozens of countries were said to face food crises that year. Where are people this year most vulnerable to food price increases and where might those increases jeopardize even political stability?

Mr. BLUMENTHAL: Well, just about any country where you have the population expending a large share of its income on food, you're going to have a problem. And we have many countries where 50, 60, 70 percent of their income goes to pay for the cost of food. So when you have, say, 25 percent increase in its cost, that's going to be a substantial impact on them.

If we look at Tunisia as an example, it's not unusual. You mentioned the political circumstances there. If we look at the Food and Agriculture Organization, which lists generally about 50 countries that are food insecure, one of the common factors across most of them is corruption, poor governance, followed by civil strife. MooPig Site Review :: "This Application promotes Melody?? -- YIKES!"

MUSIC  |   [PAGE]
An app that jams with you.
Retrieved by Good Old Boy Pat Darnell

A good session player is hard to find, but ujam is always ready to rock. The Web app doubles as a studio band and a recording studio. It analyzes a melody and then produces sophisticated harmonies, bass lines, drum tracks, horn parts, and more.

Before ujam’s AI can lay down accompaniment, it must figure out which notes the user is singing or playing. Once it recognizes them, the algorithm searches for chords to match the tune, using a mix of statistical techniques and hardwired musical rules. The stats are part of the software’s AI and can generate myriad chord progressions. The rules-based module then uses its knowledge of Western musical tropes to narrow the chord options to a single selection.

The service is still in alpha, but it has attracted 2,500 testers who want to use the AI to explore their musical creativity—and they have the recordings to prove it. As ujam gathers more data on users’ preferences and musical tastes, programmers feed this info back into the system, improving its on-the-fly performance. In this respect at least, ujam is like a human: It gets better with practice.

They just want data
Retrieved by Pat Darnell for Ed Purposes | [SOURCE]

" ... An algorithm," [Felix Salmon] explains, "can analyze data much faster than the human mind ever could — and can therefore respond instantly to market conditions. ... "

" ... [A]lgorithms, -- the lines of code that govern an increasing amount of global trading activity — ... don’t read news the way humans do. They don’t need their information delivered in the form of a story or even in sentences. They just want data—the hard, actionable information that those words represent. ... "

Today on Fresh Air Interviews, we hear an explanation of what happened on May 6, 2010, when the Dow Jones "flash crashed."
" ... In 14 seconds, the futures contracts changed hands over 27,000 times. After an automatic stabilizer paused trading for five seconds on the futures exchange, the market steadied and then recovered. ... " (Salmon, Felix. Jan 13, 2011 HERE)
" ... But even after the SEC/CFTC report was issued in September, "no one really knows why that [crash] happened," says financial reporter Felix Salmon.

"What we do know is that there were some crazy trades which happened in those 5 minutes. We had stocks trading for a penny a share or $100 a share, and no human would do that." (ibid.; Salmon)... "

It turns out, " ... Last spring, Dow Jones [had] launched a new service called Lexicon At the most basic level, computers help prospective buyers and sellers of stocks find one another—without the bother of screaming middlemen or their commissions. ... "

" ... [S]ays Harold Bradley, former head of American Century Ventures, a division of a midsize Kansas City investment firm, “So I had to change the rules.” ... "

WHY?:
" ... Bradley was among the first traders to explore the power of algorithms in the late ’90s, creating approaches to investing that favored brains over access. It took him nearly three years to build his stock-scoring program. First he created a neural network, painstakingly training it to emulate his thinking—to recognize the combination of factors that his instincts and experience told him were indicative of a significant move in a stock’s price. Brain Industries :: Labeled, Desensitized, and Redirected -- SINGULARITY -- PART Five

Why Singularity? From the © 2010 Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence, Inc.
Quotes retrieved by Pat Darnell, Emphasis by MooPig
  • The Singularity is the technological creation of smarter-than-human intelligence.
There are several technologies that are often mentioned as heading in this direction. The most commonly mentioned is probably Artificial Intelligence, but there are others: direct brain-computer interfaces, biological augmentation of the brain, genetic engineering, ultra-high-resolution scans of the brain followed by computer emulation.
  • " The story of intelligent life on Earth is made up of beginnings. (SOURCE) "

Brave NEW Words: EXCERPTS
" There are people who would answer that intelligence is meaningful in itself; that "It is better to be Socrates unsatisfied than a fool satisfied; better to be a man unsatisfied than a pig satisfied." ... "
" ...The beginnings of human intelligence, or the invention of writing, probably went unappreciated by the individuals who were present at the time. But such developments do not always take their creators unaware. Francis Bacon, one of the critical figures in the invention of the scientific method, made astounding claims about the power and universality of his new mode of reasoning and its ability to improve the human condition – claims which, from the perspective of a 21st-century human, turned out to be exactly right. Not all good deeds are unintentional. It does occasionally happen that humanity's victories are won not by accident but by people making the right choices for the right reasons. (ibid. emphasized words by MooPig.)"
" ... The Singularity Institute exists to carry out the mission of the Singularity-aware – to accelerate the arrival of the Singularity in order to hasten its human benefits; to close the window of vulnerability that exists while humanity cannot increase its intelligence along with its technology; and to protect the integrity of the Singularity by ensuring that those projects which finally implement the Singularity are carried out in full awareness of the implications and without distraction from the responsibilities involved. (ibid.) ... "

" ... That's our dream. Whether it actually happens depends on whether enough people take the Singularity seriously enough to do something about it – whether humanity can scrape up the tiny fraction of its resources needed to face the future deliberately and firmly. (ibid.) ... "

In a separate editorial carried in the North's ruling party newspaper, Pyongyang reiterated its long-running demand that Washington agree to a peace pact to formally end the war and withdraw its 28,500 troops stationed in South Korea as a deterrent.

Stomach Industries :: GERD

GERD in a Nutshell
retrieved from Email by Pat Darnell

Gastroesophegeal Reflux Disease
By Michael Owen, DC
GERD, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, occurs when the acid contents of the stomach
flows up through the muscular opening in the diaphragm into the esophagus. Although
the stomach lining is made to handle these strong stomach acids, the esophagus is not.
Constant acid reflux into the esophagus may cause damage, ulcerations or even develop
into a pre-cancerous condition called Barrett’s Esophagus.
There is no agreed upon cause for GERD. However, we have found that the greatest
number of GERD suffers have inadequate digestive juice in the stomach, leading to a
putrefaction of stomach contents and the accompanying symptoms of gas, bloating,
belching and reflux. Anti acids and acid blockers may bring temporary relief, however as
we have seen before, chronic conditions often result from suppressive therapies. Upon
further inspection it appears that for most persons with GERD, the cause falls into one or
more of the following categories:
1) Reduced production of digestive fluids
2) Poor diet
3) Poor food combining, over-eating before bed, eating sweets and starch with protein
4) Food allergies
5) Dysbiosis
6) Prescription drug use
7) Mechanical problems in the diaphragm or sphincter separating the stomach and esophagus
8) Liver condition
Begin with reasonable dietary modifications such as not over eating before bedtime and
avoiding processed foods, sweets and sodas etc., and drinking plenty of pure water.
Do a trial by taking a small amount of hydrochloric acid during the middle of the main
meal, 50mg. to 100mg would do it. I use ½ of a Hydrozyme—Betain HCl, pepsin, and
pancreatin tablet. If that dosage does not upset the stomach, then slowly increase the
dosage over the next several days. Proceed only when the acid is well tolerated. Find that
optimal dosage where excellent digestion is experienced, this dosage could be anywhere
from 50 mg. up to 3000 mg.—or even more in some cases. At some dosage the vast
majority of clients will experience great relief of their GERD and all related symptoms.
For many individuals, that is all there is to it. They will just need to take hydrochloric
acid with meals for a while until their body readjusts and they can start increasing their
own hydrochloric acid production. Still others may be deficient in factors required to
make hydrochloric acid and other digestive products. They will need to be supplemented.
Be aware that B vitamins, especially thiamin B1, zinc, and magnesium, are needed for
optimal digestion.
If the condition is not resolved using a reasonable diet and hydrochloric acid
supplementation, then a trial elimination diet may be considered to look for hidden food
sensitivities. High on the list of such foods is wheat and all grains except rice, all dairy
except butter, beer, wine, coffee, corn, soy, peanuts, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and other
night shades, food additives, and preservatives.
I usually recommend starting an elimination diet by removing all sugar and processed
foods, dairy except butter, and wheat and grains except rice. For best results add Beta-
TCP—Beet juice, taurine, vitamin C and pancrelipase at 3 – 4 per meal to support
detoxification and bile production.
Regardless of the cause of GERD, a trip to the chiropractor or other health practitioner
who specializes in care of the human frame, will be useful. Indeed, the cause of acid
reflux and GERD can be due wholly or partially to structural misalignments of the
thoracic vertebra the ribs or diaphragm, in which case only an adjustment or realignment
of the structure will bring any lasting relief.
As for the client for whom no therapy has helped; maybe they do in fact make too
much acid, or perhaps they have gastritis, and any amount of normal acid burns their
sensitive stomach and intestinal lining. In these cases do 4 to 6 weeks of intense healing
of the gut lining, and then repeat the hydrochloric acid trial as mentioned earlier. During
the 4 to 6 weeks of intense healing, I recommend Gastrazyme—Gut healing nutrients and
vitamin U at 3 - 4 tablets 4 times per day between meals, IPS—Nutrients that heal the
intestines at 2 capsules per meal, consider L-Glutamine at 2 capsules per meal. In cases
of candida, fungal overgrowth, H. pylori or parasites, consider A.D.P.—Micro emulsified
oregano oil at 2 – 4 tabs 2 times per day between meals. In more difficult cases we also
recommend NutriClear—Detoxification drink formula) 1 – 2 servings per day as a meal
replacement.
Now, for those remaining clients who do truly have a hyper acidic digestive system, for
those who’s systems cannot tolerate normal amounts of acid, and also for those who’s
systems are making acid and other digestive products while there is little or no food to
digest, consider parasympathetic dominant nervous system. Rule out toxic conditions and
drug use. Use 1 dropper full of Super Phosphozyme Liquid—Liquid phosphorus in small
amount of water as needed for acid upset. Also, consider using parathyroid containing
product such as Ca/Mg Plus—Calcium, magnesium, and parathyroid tissue at 2 – 4 per
day and Cytozyme-PT/HPT—Pituitary/hypothalamus tissue (neonatal bovine) at 2 – 3 tabs
per day. Although Ca/Mg Plus contains Calcium and Magnesium, which promote the
parasympathetic system, this product has shown significant clinical success in modifying
sympathetic dominant conditions. Additionally, continue with the Gastrazyme—Gut
healing nutrients and vitamin U as noted earlier to reduce inflammation. Increase dietary
fiber, water and exercise where indicated.

Shanghai - German automaker Volkswagen said its sales in China, the world's biggest vehicle market, soared 37 percent year-on-year in 2010 to an annual record of more than 1.9 million cars.

In a statement on Friday Volkswagen Group China said it would invest 10.6 billion euros ($13.7 billion) from 2011 to 2015 to maintain and reinforce its position in the country.

“In 2010, growth in the Chinese automobile market has exceeded everyone's expectations”, Karl-Thomas Neumann, president and chief executive of Volkswagen Group China said.

Global Tyranny -- Step by Step
"... [T]he world's ecosystems can be preserved only if the affluent nations of the world can be disciplined into lowering their standard of living. Production and consumption must be curtailed. To bring that about, those nations must submit to rationing, taxation, and political domination by world government. They will probably not do that voluntarily, so they will have to be forced. To accomplish that, it will be necessary to engineer a global monetary crisis which will destroy their economic systems. Then they will have no choice but to accept assistance and control from the UN."(SOURCE)

EXCERPT -- " ... House Republicans Push Attack on Health Care Law, Ignoring Budget Office Report: " ... Many new members of the U.S. House of Representatives came to power expressing outrage over the federal deficit. Apparently, however, repealing the landmark health care reform law, the Affordable Care Act, is more pressing even if doing so adds the nation's debt.

" ... The Congressional Budget Office, described by The New York Times as the "non-partisan budget scorekeepers in Congress," said that repealing the health care law would "ratchet up the federal deficit by about $230 billion over the next decade and leave 32 million more Americans uninsured," The Washington Post reports. The CBO report was rejected by the House Republican leadership as it presses forward to vote on a measure to repeal the law. "C.B.O. can only provide a score based on the assumptions that are given them" House Speaker Boehner said in dismissing the analysis. ... "

Louise Slaughter, the outgoing Rules Committee chair, told Politico that House Republicans repeal bill allows them "to pretend that their campaign promise to repeal the health care bill will have no cost - their resolution simply instructs the House to ignore the trillion dollar increase in the deficit that will result."
