City of Chicago to pay millions to settle cases of wrongfully convicted man Alton Logan, raped woman Christina Eilman who fell from window | abc7chicago.com: "January 15, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- A man wrongfully convicted of murder and a woman who fell from a seventh-floor window after being raped could both receive millions of dollars in settlements from the city of Chicago.

Alton Logan was freed in 2008 after spending 26 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. Logan says detectives under now-convicted former Area 2 Commander Jon Burge were behind the coverup that led to his conviction for the murder of an off-duty Cook County corrections officer."

Homicides in Chicago were up 17% in 2012 from the previous year. It is reported that the total of 500 for the year hit in December before the year ended.
" ... McCarthy issued a statement declaring: “The city has seen its 500th homicide for 2012, a tragic number that is reflective of the gang violence and proliferation of illegal guns that have plagued some of our neighborhoods.”

While saying every homicide is unacceptable, he went on to laud the department’s overall crime reduction. (Jeremy Gorner and Peter Nickeas | Tribune reporters. December 28, 2012. Here) ... "

Catholic Case for Expunging all your Web Sites ... for good! No Matter What!

Soccer coach trying to take back child-porn guilty plea
March 15, 2010 7:22 PM  |  Retrieved by P Darnell  |  SOURCE
A Coal City soccer coach and paramedic described by his former attorney as a "community hero" is attempting to rescind his guilty plea on federal child pornography charges, in part because he wasn't wearing his glasses when he entered the plea.

Investigators were led to Timothy Scholtes after they found his name and login ID -- "boypleaser" -- on servers used by a child pornography Web site in 2008, according to the criminal complaint.

Authorities then found more than 100 illegal images on Scholtes' computer, records show. They also found a document he apparently wrote that describes sexually assaulting players on his team, records show.

In October, Scholtes pleaded guilty in federal court before Judge Robert Gettleman to two counts of receiving child pornography on his computer and one count of enticing a minor to engage in filmed sexual activity. He was not charged with sexually assaulting anyone.

Then Scholtes, who is being held in the Kankakee County jail, fired his attorney. His new attorney, Gerardo Gutierrez, compared the October plea hearing in a filing last week to the rushed final round of the television show "Jeopardy!"

Gutierrez acknowledged it will be "extremely difficult" for Scholtes to withdraw his plea but argues the judge failed to properly determine Scholtes understood the charges he faced before accepting it. Scholtes cannot read without his glasses and did not have them on the day he made his plea or when he met with prosecutors to discuss the case weeks before, Gutierrez said.

Scholtes also was charged in Grundy County last year with indecent solicitation after allegedly propositioning a boy on his soccer team who refused the advance. Grundy County State's Attorney Sheldon Sobol said the charge was dismissed pending the federal case's outcome.

Among the challenges Scholtes faces in rescinding his plea are his own words.

"There is times I've sat in my cell and wondered, 'Did I do this?'" Scholtes said at his plea hearing, according to an excerpted transcript included in last week's filing. "And I've just blocked it out and don't remember doing it. I don't know, sir. The only thing I can say is that I did it."

Teasippers are Number One in the Nation, Again!!

No, Not that AUSTIN --

Austin, Texas, is famous for its parties. People flock from around the world to attend events like the annual South by Southwest film and music festival. And when they get there, chances are they make like the locals and throw back a few cold ones--because Austin may be the hardest-drinking city in America.

Austin ranks high for its drinking habits across the board. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) 2007 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Survey, 61.5% of adult residents say they have had at least one drink of alcohol within the past 30 days, and a staggering 20.6% of respondents confess to binge drinking, or having five or more drinks on one occasion. If you're wondering which cities are known for partying the hardest, look no further than Forbes' list of the drunkest cities in America. From Providence to San Francisco, there is a hard-partying city in just about every corner of the U.S.

To determine the cities with the highest alcohol consumption, Forbes examined data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's 2007 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Survey. (Walletpop)

Coming in second on the list is Milwaukee. This city, known as "the nation's watering hole," has a long reputation as a city built on beer. It was once the nation's top beer-producing city, home to four of the world's largest breweries: Schlitz, Pabst, Miller and Blatz. Legendary sitcom characters Laverne and Shirley fixed bottle caps on one of the city's assembly lines. Even the town's baseball team--the Brewers--reflects its boozy past. (Retrieved HERE: Forbescom)

Rounding out the top five hardest-drinking cities are San Francisco; Providence, R.I.; and Chicago.

Parallel Parking in Austin might prove fatal, but nevertheless --

It must be Pub Day here at the MooPig early morning no news department. Everyone is waiting for the big Olympics Opening Day, we suppose. So we switch over now to the Hugh Downs Boys eat up Beijing.... HUGH?

PHOTO: Date : 2006.02.08 morning Hi. Here's a little pix i took near my favourite buffet, Fanni. The guy was on a party whole night on Hajógyári island. You can imagine how high he was on amphetamine and booze.

He left in the morning and started driving on the wharf while listening to techno music. He joined to Szentendrei road and was speeding at 150 km/h in heavy traffic. He tried to sneak through a red light on Flórián circus, but had partial collisions with some vehicles and got tossed to the wrong lane.

There he had a full frontal collision with a truck,- spinned, wrecked the bike of a buffet guest, and landed in the pub with the side. Now the front side of the pub is boarded up, and there's a sign " Open 24H, use door on the right". (i send pic if you need). The innkeeper was injured by splinters of broken glass. The driver was taken to a hospital. 4 vehicles were taken by trailer.
