Poop Snow on an Ancient Burial Ground: This Can't End Well:

'via Blog this'

When I lived in Houston, in the 70's, I worked with a boss who was born and raised in Wisconsin. He told us stories about snowy weather. One day he mentioned his job at home was to take out the garbage for his mom. So all winter he took the bags of waste out by the garage and threw them in the snow. They got buried there, instead of collected like usual. When the snow thawed, "garbage-geddon."

[Picture LINK]

Winter around the corner; you have your snow skis out and dusted off. There is one thing you should know. If you are going to Flagstaff's Arizona Snowbowl Ski Resort be sure to bring your anti-fungal creams and ointments.

"... [B]y expanding onto 74 acres of sacred land in the San Francisco Peaks and manufacturing 100 percent of its snow from sewage....": Yes that is right, correct, reported HERE.

I wonder what would happen if the same thing were to happen at a ski resort in Utah. You know that ancestor thing is huge there amongst Mormon LDS. Piling human waste all over the burial sites of groups is one thing; having your family fall and scrape themselves in the frozen effluence of sewage is another thing. I don't think the living or the dead are going to like this very much.

This is fracked in so many ways: the entire ski slope is "made entirely from repurposed poop." And, also, the U.S. Forest Service says the "crap water is just fine, grading its quality just below that of drinking water." Isn't this "disrespecting Native Americans' traditions, while also harming the environment and polluting aquifers?" (Horn, Leslie. Sep 27, 2012. HERE)

BBC News - Japan tsunami 'ghost ship' drifting to Canada

[Picture LINK]
Old flip flops, plastic toys, bags, children's pacifiers, toothbrushes, tons of plastic bottles and even whole yachts are just some of the rubbish floating in the so-called 'great pacific garbage patch'.
You can see the garbage's shipping schedule in the above map, which is color-coded by year. It was created by a NOAA researcher named (no joke) J. Churnside using a modeling program called the Ocean Surface Current Simulator. FYI, if you're ever out sailing or walking the beach and happen to spot some ocean-faring debris, there's an app you can use to report it to government scientists. It's fun for the whole family!
BBC News - Japan tsunami 'ghost ship' drifting to Canada:
The tsunami last March generated more than 25 million tonnes of debris, say researchers at the University of Hawaii. Between four and eight million tonnes were washed into the ocean, with one to two million tonnes still floating on the surface.
A Japanese fishing boat lost in the Pacific Ocean after the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami was sighted March 20, 2012 drifting 150 nautical miles off the southern coast of Haida Gwaii near British Columbia, Canada by the crew of an aircraft on a routine surveillance patrol. But even more grisly are the predictions of U.S. oceanographer Curtis Ebbesmeyer, who is expecting human feet, still in their shoes, to wash up on the West Coast within three years.
'I'm expecting parts of houses, whole boats and feet in sneakers to wash up,' Mr Ebbesmeyer, a Seattle oceanographer who has spent decades tracking flotsam, told MailOnline.
Several thousand bodies were washed out to sea following the disaster and while most of the limbs will come apart and break down in the water, feet encased in shoes will float, Mr Ebbesmeyer said.
'I'm expecting the unexpected,' he added.

MooPig Site Review :: "This Administration is FECKLESS -- says leaked Documents"

How to Re-Package this Story.... Hmmmmm?
Retrieved by Pat Darnell and these Adjectives: counterproductive, ineffective, ineffectual, inefficient

Silvio Berlusconi is the leader of the Forza Italia party in Italy, and has been the Prime Minister, PM, of Italy three times. The 74 year old Prime Minister, Berlusconi, is not due to retire or run again for PM until 2013. However, he is failing on many fronts in Italian politics.
"However it finishes, there are grounds to be sceptical about the immediate future of the country," Il Sole 24 Ore, the financial daily often seen as the mouthpiece of the Italian business establishment, wrote in an editorial on Sunday. ... (Mackenzie, James\ Reuters. December 13, 2010. HERE"
As a matter of fact the Prime Minister, PM, is weak, ineffective, irresponsible and will some day need to retire. Wikileaks strikes the chord for Berlusconi:
" ... Berlusconi's image abroad was summed up this month by a U.S. diplomatic report made public on WikiLeaks that labelled him "feckless, vain and ineffective as a European leader" and described him as being exhausted by hard partying. ... "
What is good in this tragic hero? He has been in the center of Italian political life since 1994. He also is a charismatic leader, who speaks to the unsung heroes -- Italia's voters: " ... who have long shrugged their shoulders at reports of their prime minister's gaffes and dalliances."

What has him hamstrung is the same "dalliance" that brings many political guys down: " ... scandals like his connection with a teenaged nightclub dancer ..." Photos were blocked in Italy, where "Berlusconi controls 90% of the media." It all has led to his public divorce and " ... is one of many embarrassments for Berlusconi in a gaffe filled year ...(SOURCE) "
Berlusconi's survival hopes finely balanced, James Mackenzie, Reuters. December 13, 2010, Berlusconi has become an extremely polarizing figure in Italian politics, thanks to his proclivity for making massive, somewhat insulting gaffes directed at women, minorities, or really anyone who comes within eyesight of the man.
Burlesconi is inefficacious "as unemployment has crept up." He is inexpedient with systemic "problems such as the chronic garbage crisis in Naples." His leadership is ineffectual as this crisis has gone unresolved. "It has chipped away at his authority."

Musician to Mogul: Silvio Berlusconi is originally from Milan, Italy, where he was born into an upper middle-class in 1936. " ... He obtained a degree in law and played the upright bass for a band, and, for a time, became a cruise ship crooner. In the 60's, he worked on developing construction projects in Milan, before setting up a media empire in the 70s. [SOURCE] ... "

Ark. Man Digging In Garden Unearths A Civil War-era Cannonball That Could Be Still Explosive
[SOURCE]
FORT SMITH, Ark., Apr. 22, 2009

(AP) Officials say a Fort Smith man digging in his garden unearthed a Civil War-era cannonball that's possibly still explosive. The unidentified man was tending to his garden Tuesday at his home when he found the rusted, 4-inch-diameter iron ball.

Bill Black, the park superintendent of the Fort Smith National Historic Site, said the cannonball appears to be a live round that's about 145 years old.

Fort Smith Fire Department officials plan to shoot at the cannonball with a shaped charge, which will either detonate the round, break it open or put a hole in it. Black said he hopes to keep the remnants at the Fort Smith National Historic Site.

There were a number of Civil War engagements in and around Fort Smith, including the Battle of Massard Prairie.

Vesuvius, Napoli, Garbage Strikes, and a Slovakian Super Kicker

by Pat Darnell

Last time we were in Napoli Summer of '07, there was a garbage strike. We flew to and from Italy through NAP. It was my first time to see the monster, Vesuvio'.

Picture: AP | Infrared Picture of Vesuvius, This is a night-time infrared photo of Mount Vesuvius in 1943.

Dec. 6, 2004 — Italian authorities have renewed the cash offer of up to 30,000 euros (about $40,000) for any family wishing to move outside the shadow of Mount Vesuvius in the attempt to reduce the potential hazard of what has been described as the world's most dangerous volcano.

Campania, the region that includes Naples, last month set up a 30 million euro ($40 million) Vesuvius hazard risk program, confirming and improving last year's cash offer for those wishing to relocate to safer areas. [ Rossella Lorenzi, Discovery News; Vesuvius Residents Paid to Move Away. SOURCE]

Meanwhile, later in the New Century -- Garbage was piling up
May 30, 2007: roxygypsy [HERE] "I heard Naples has had a trash collection strike for months, and the garbage is so high you can't navigate. Any truth to that? And does it extend to Sorrento, where we'll be staying in a week or so?"

May 30, 2008: bob1edmonton [HERE] "Just got back from Naples unbelievable problem. Highly recommend you bi-pass Naples a huge health risk. Sorrento does not have the same problem. Comments from locals say it is do to lack of a new landfill and the mafia controlling pickup. Really recommend a state of emergency as a plague could originate there and spread throughout the world. A disgrace to Italy and lack of government leadership."

May 30, 2008: krabikrazy (ibid)
From the BBC
-The Naples Doctors Association recently expressed its concerns over the potential for disease to spread, with rats, cockroaches and insects thriving in the mountains of garbage.
"As we clear the backlog the rats come spilling out of the bags," said Domenico Montella, a rubbish collection supervisor.
"Sometimes there are hundreds of them, scattering in all directions.
"They have been treated to quite a feast," he jokes. "Some of them are bigger than my forearm."

May 30, 2008: jjkdc (ibid)
Unless things have changed DRASTICALLY in the last few weeks, the city center is fine. I was there for 5 days in early April. There streets were NOT teeming with rats and roaches. They were teeming with the people who live there.
The garbage-disposal problem in Naples is not a new problem, though the media sometimes makes it sound as if it is. This has been a problem for a number of years now.
If you have an interest in going to Naples, by all means go to Naples. If you want to go to Sorrento, then go to Sorrento. They are like night and day, and cannot be compared with one another.

But in 2009 Facebook Social Network can see Napoli through any catastrophe:
Last Thursday, Mr. Hamsik was out for a stroll when he was robbed at gunpoint of 800 Euros, and his Rolex watch. Fearful that this would hasten his departure, and perhaps doom their season; fans of the Napoli team jumped onto Facebook and created a group with the sole purpose of saying “Sorry.” Four days later, this group has over 4400 members all wanting to apologize, and let him know that the regular people of Napoli don’t condone what happened.
One of their star [soccer] players is [the] Slovakian gentleman named Marek Hamsik, who has been linked with a big money move to teams across Europe. [Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008 by Simon Heseltine; HERE]
Let me think a moment, as if I'm wearing the shoes of Marek Hamsik... hmmmmm "....in shadow of notorious, active volcano that once destroyed Pompeii, -- garbage and filth piled higher and deeper for almost four years, -- mugged and robbed while strolling the city even though a well-known hard-working person....."

"Sure, I'm staying! That's amore."
