From an obscure point in time, in an essentially unknown city, on a day like any other day MooPig became a blog. It appeared first in a beta version of blogger provided by Google. That was in 2006. There were no measuring tools provided for blogger in those days. Then sometime in July 2007, stats began being kept by Google for MooPig. In July '07 we had 22,456 "Page-views."

Too much excitement for us!

So we subscribed to Googles measuring tools. Today we passed one million views. What it intrinsically means, I don't know, IDK.

So to put this in perspective, we rely on comparisons. And, like all blogs, we will exaggerate our importance by comparing our page-views to a totally unrelated famous person. For grins and shits, let's say Miley Cyrus posts this note in her "whatever" electronic device and sends it out over the net ...

Miley Cyrus will get a million page-views as fast as it takes a million fingers to punch in a million "LIKES."

MooPig is a blog about nothing in particular, that is, it does not follow one subject, but rather zigzags, winds, twists, turns, curves, curls, bends, and snakes its merry way around issues and malarkey that catch its attention. About nothing, for nothing, sells nothing, slowest growing rag in the natural world, is our MooPig blogger dot com.

One other restaurant, Vitale's Pizza, began selling alcohol outside the downtown area several years ago.

"We've had no trouble at all," says Ryan Synder, owner of Vitale's Pizza.

"We don't feel it will cause drastically change the framework in the community. It just gives folks another option," says Timothy Klunder, Zeeland's city manager.

For Grill, construction should come naturally. Afterall, he's used to breaking down walls that stand in his way.

Public is expected to officially open in late spring. Grill hopes other restaurants will soon follow in his footsteps.

Everything Should be Alright Now

The reassuring photo of a 20 year old in an American baseball cap should put to rest any doubts that Libya is now in the ablest of hands and the long awaited social equality and economic boom are just around the corner. Brandishing Kadafi's old $ 100,000 pistol, the young man is poised to be among the top members of the new government.

Then why do I have a premonition that in less than one year there will be a story, no doubt including a photo, about this young man being imprisoned and hanged for retaining ties and affections for things western and other traitorous qualities?/?

Google in its ever ending journey towards zero , and the ultimate null hypothesis... has added a few clever blogger tricks to its armory.

I use now the Post Options trigger, that allows me to put new web log posts in places I think they could do the most "good." Those who think I am not shooting with all six bullets might want to realize it is a clip pistol I use. I am actually writing blogs ahead of time and scheduling them to post when I am on other tasks, like eating white bread. Multi-tasking is so wonderful.

Also recently I have utilized the new Blog List adaptation seen in the sidebar of my not too famous yet blog MooPig Wisdom. My Blog List is called Mi Blog List: su Blog List. All gratis from Father Google, and convenient for you because you will notice there is no advertising in this MooPig Wisdom site!! We can not justify making money off other's rancid mistakes, and sometimes fatal grammar errors.

It has not been proven by any alleged scientist anywhere that global warming could raise the ocean levels high enough to make Zeeland Michigan an Atlantic Coastal town. That is not why the Fernandez brothers, Adam and Nick are giving a face lift to their quaint store.

“Saltwater aquariums are a good allergy-free alternative to pets, but a lot of people see it as a hobby,” says Adam, 29. “Others see it as living art, an interior decorating design statement.”

In addition to the new interior, the owners have reduced their operating costs by some 40 percent by taking some simple conservation measures. Placing acrylic covers on the aquariums when the store is closed reduced water evaporation from 30 gallons a day to two gallons a day. That alone saves the store about $700 a month in water and deionization costs.

A new ultraviolet sterilizer zaps parasites, saving anywhere from $600 to $900 a month by keeping the inventory alive and healthy.

MooPig Enterprises loves to see fiction turn into fact: "Eco Reef, owned by brothers Adam and Nick Fernandez since 2006, recently underwent an interior renovation to spruce up the store’s displays of live fish and corals. The inventory includes clown fish (Nemo), blue hippo tang (Dory), lion fish, stingrays, sea horses, and even shark eggs customers can hatch in their home aquariums."

Now that is foresight MooPig likes to trust. Zeeland is the New Atlantic City boardwalk... no? Prove it.

Why Did the Coyote Cross the Road in Downtown Zeeland?

Because there are no Donkeys or Elephants in Zeeland...?!

A local coyote crosses a roadway in Fillmore Township. One was spotted roaming near State Street and Main Avenue downtown Zeeland Thursday night, Oct. 16.

A animal spotted downtown Zeeland Thursday night, Oct. 16, was probably a young adult looking for a new pad after his folks kicked him out of the homestead, or maybe it was just hunting for squirrels or rabbits, said Travis Williams, executive director of the Outdoor Discovery Center of Wildlife Unlimited, 4214 56th St. in Fillmore Township.
“Just like human young adults, often coyotes old enough to make it on their own still beg from their parents, until the parents kick them out,” because of limited food availability as winter approaches, Williams said.

“You start seeing young animals wandering around in the fall. Sometimes it takes a negative experience with humans to teach the young animal that they should stay away from people.”

Zeeland police responded to a call of a coyote running through town near State Street and Main Avenue around 8 p.m., according to police records. They found the wild animal trapped in a fenced-in area behind Lincoln Elementary School, 60 E. Lincoln Ave., but it jumped the fence and ran back into a wooded area between the school and Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St., the report said.

State conservation officials advised police to leave the coyote alone so it would return to the wild “He’ll go back to the upper Macatawa watershed,” said Tom Medendorp, president of Chick-Owa Sportsman’s Club, Outdoor Traditions columnist for MyZeeland and co-host of WHTC-AM’s Saturday morning outdoor radio show.

The more than 600-acre watershed provides a prime habitat for coyotes and other wildlife, including muskrats, rabbits, ducks, geese and squirrels, he said.

“They’ve migrated into cities — not only like Zeeland, but larger cities like Detroit and Chicago — because they’re highly adaptable, and they’re predators. If you think about it, in town there’s squirrels, there’s rabbits, ... it’s a smorgasbord for the coyotes,” Medendorp added.

Though coyotes might go after your dogs or cats, they won’t go after children or attack people at all unless they’re rabid or cornered — the same factors that make dogs, coyotes’ cousins, dangerous, Travis said.

“Typically, if they see somebody, they run as fast as they can in the other direction. If you see one running around town, don’t do anything. Don’t approach it, but it wouldn’t be in their nature to attack.”

If a coyote does appear aggressive, Travis recommends contacting the police. Travis said coyotes roaming downtown Zeeland likely isn’t an unusual occurrence, due to the abundance of food sources there, such as squirrels and mice, and the need for young ones to relocate. With each coyote mating pair birthing two to 12 pups every year — of which five or six survive, on average — the coyote population is growing locally and regionally, Travis and Medendorp agreed, creating another reason for the small wild dogs to encroach into urban areas.

“We’ve taken their habitat, so an adaptable creature like a coyote will come into our habitat,” Medendorp said. (Ralph, Steve; 10.17.2008. holland sentinel, retrieved HERE)
