Seriously, I don't know where I am going with this article today. Let's just sit back, and see what happens.

Before the year 2012 ended, MooPig found tons of information about "prepping." It is the citizens' facing the reality of a doomsday, and doing something today to ward off impending danger and anarchy. These individual mitigation control projects range from hoarding supplies, building underground bunkers, to bizarre paramilitary training, all because of having knowledge of events before they take place. Following is some related stories ...

Before the year ended, MooPig Doomsday Prep Debunker Department found out it was too late to join the fun. We instead searched for meaning in all the prepping going on, and all its publicity. So, if you can't join them, then it is time to sing...  here is the Preppers' Song ...

The Red List: Prepper Put On No Fly List, Escorted Off Plane Under Armed Guard | Market Daily News: " ... When 34-year-old U.S. citizen and Mississippi resident Wade Hicks boarded a military flight to visit his wife, a Navy lieutenant stationed in Okinawa, Japan, he did not think it would be a one-way trip. Stopping off in Hawaii to refuel, upon re-boarding the plane, Hicks was quickly escorted back off again by armed guards. He was then taken to a secure interrogation room where Hicks was informed he would not be flying anywhere because he turned up on the no-fly list. "

What did he do wrong? No one knows. He told reporters that a man had joined his preppers group under the guise of a disabled Navy SEAL.

" ... Hicks revealed to Infowars that a supposed disabled veteran claiming to be a Navy Seal had joined his prepper group earlier in the year, but Hicks felt the man's story seemed suspicious. Through a Freedom of Information Act request, Hicks learned the man had never been in the military even though he possessed an authentic military ID. Sometime later while out driving, Hicks saw the man's car and ended up tailing him to a Mississippi Department of Homeland Security branch office where the man parked his car. (Market daily news. Don't look back. Use to be a time that service industry was not the survivor industry.

It turns out that most Doomsday preparation scores an average of 75 out of a 100 possible points. Prepping is inadequate. If a family prepares for one of these supernatural events, it is a self defeating preparation. How so?

Doomsday prepping is about the material world we now live in, not the spirit world that will over power us. Now is that fair?

Doomsday Preppers, yes there is a demographic of them, spend thousands of dollars on their preparations by collecting material things. Then hoard the things in an expensive bunker-like dwelling, also costing thousands of dollars. Those are all taxable purchases, by the way, using after tax dollars from their paychecks. I don't see any evidence of writing off a Doomsday Prep Bunker.

Bast, who lives in Melbourne, Australia, with his wife and three children, has spent more than $350,000 preparing for "the end of the world as we know it." ... According to NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- "The cost of preparing for doomsday isn't cheap. First you have to stock up on the appropriate gear, ammunition, food and shelter to survive a nuclear meltdown, asteroid, earthquake, solar flare or some other catastrophe. Then there's acquiring the materials you'll need to rebuild a community after the dust settles."

So, let me get this straight. The Doomsday Prepper is asking for mortgage loans on bunkers they will build to survive the end of the world as we know it? Don't you pay back mortgage loans by increment payments for the next 15 to 20 years?

Stocking up on firearms and training in their use, well that was proven yesterday to have unbelievable results. [LINK The Associated Press. Published: Friday, December 14, 2012 at 13:20 PM.] " ... The death toll - 26 victims plus the gunman - was given to The Associated Press by an official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was still under way. ... "

" ... The suspect was 24-year-old Ryan Lanza, whose mother, Nancy, works at the school, a law enforcement official said. His younger brother was being held for questioning as a possible second shooter, the official said. ... "

This gunman is dead so we will never know the extent of his insanity. The two incidents of "Doomsday Prepping" and "mass murder of innocents" have nothing in common. Or do they?

MooPig DeBunker Department :: "Bunker Buddies" -- PART ONE

When you build that deep underground doomsday survivor bunker and stock it with hoards of supplies... you do realize that you will be in that bunker with your bunker buddies, don't you?

Your doomsday bunker buddies will be your family members in most instances.

A quick search for homicides amongst family members, Google reveals about 9,770,000 results in (0.32 seconds). We take the top result, Bureau of Justice Statistics, BJS, and find this bit:

• "After spousal killing, children killed by their parents are the most frequent type of family homicide.
• Siblings are murder victims less often than other family members.
• Fathers are more likely than mothers to be killed by their children.
• Teenage sons are most often the perpetrator in parental killings.
• Older teen and young adult males are most often the perpetrator in killings of brothers. Males who kill their sisters tend to be younger than males who kill their brothers.
• Sisters rarely kill their siblings.
• Note: The victims of the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks are not included in this analysis. (LINK)"

If you have ever watched the Survivor TV reality show, you learn that to "Outwit, outplay, outlast ..." the element of humanity you are avoiding "out there," you must be sure about your bunker buddies. If members in your group underground have brought unresolved "issues" with them into the bunker, these could become your biggest challenge to survive. Bunker buddies with issues will be disruptive to your vision of redemption. No less, if you are thinking about your wounded-ness today, you will realize that showing your wounds to others will show your human fragility. Eh?

Those players on Survivor TV bring all their life "issues" into the mix. The issues become the prime reasons that a person is voted off. In your bunker, I don't think you will have the option to vote anyone off your bunker buddy team.

Yes, comparing your doomsday survival plan to the TV show is sarcasm. If doomsday comes as described in the Revelations of John, for most of us, our goose is cooked. Yet, building underground bunkers is similar to the atomic air raid shelters that citizens built in their back yards in the 1960's. My dad used to say: "... What if I wasted all that time digging a bunker in the back yard back then? ... " That was in response to the possibility of an atomic bomb from Communist Russia attacking the USA.

What we are mostly talking about in this survivor of doomsday is homicide. The human race is up for a cleansing, along with the earth's propensity to have extinction level events. That is the giant anteater in the bunker you build. If those surviving just outside your cocoon find the source of your air, they will assuredly smoke you out.

Therefore you will have to train your children, as bunker buddies, to not misbehave; and your spouse, wife or husband, should be prepared for teenagers to rebel. And if your are just neighbors down there surviving, the others will form alliances and vote you out. That is why you should be very careful about who your bunker buddies are. Yes?

MooPig wants to present the newest business idea for all the MooPigsters out there looking for the next "big" trend in business.

Surviving has made it to MooPig's attentive state of conscience. It may not be "spoken of" out there yet; but we do note a sense of Surviving Industries Emerging.

Leading indicators:

• Well, let's see -- 60 Minutes just did a "After the Chilean Miner Rescue" segment that sort of points to our latest thinking on the subject
• *[thinking ... ]*
• Then there is the whole massive Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Disaster and aftermath going in this direction...
• *[processing]*
• Hmmmm ... how about the complete failure of the Music Industry -- such as the recent report that CD sales were down another 20% this year. 
• *[reaching]*
• Teenagers having nightmarish dreams about "surviving" some cataclysmic event after 13 hours straight of playing Black Ops on XBOX .... ?

Spotting trends and other forms of terrain has become a favorite wonkish exercise at Moopig round table Editors' meetings. Surviving the gas prices, tightening the belts, investing in smart appliances ... is on everyone's mind.

Not a day goes by that Middle America does not race to their local newspapers to see if any thing local made national headlines. Furtherest from ever achieving that is Texas Aggies sports teams; but that is not what tethers global south to balustrades of disappearing resources. What ropes and chains we the Middle in a short radius is civil disobedience.

All us here in the Middle are chanting around, and rabble rousing, our capital cities -- especially the Mid-West -- for what we are not sure. But it is a movement, and no one really knows how long the Middle has been stopped up ... so this could be a helluva' movement.

So we present Survivor Industries as Exhibit One for our reader, and finish with this one thought:

"It’s a well known fact that in the event of nuclear holocaust two things would TRUELY survive; cockroaches and Bear Grylls, afterwards Bear would simply eat the cockroaches for protein."

Fire leaves Bryan family in need: Mom struggles to recover, and provide for 4 children

Nearly two months ago, Stephanie Oldham, a single mother of four, was involved in a car accident. Her vehicle was totaled.

On April 19, Oldham's apartment caught fire.

Everything she owned was destroyed.

"With all the water, smoke and fire damage, I really can't salvage anything from my old apartment," the 25-year-old said.

Oldham is hoping donations from the community will help her and her four children recover from the fire.

She was at work when the fire broke out in her apartment on Cypress Bend Circle in Bryan. Her neighbors upstairs were watching her children.

"They were actually the ones who called the Fire Department," she said. "They thought it was their apartment on fire because of how much smoke there was, and they could feel the heat on the floor."

Oldham said she's most worried about providing for her children: Vannessa, 7; Braulio, 5; Damion, 3; and Nathaniel, 18 months.

"I really don't need anything for me," she said. "The Red Cross gave me money for clothes, and I spent it on the kids. I just need things for the kids."

She can use anything, she said.

Her children don't have beds or toys, and her apartment is unfurnished. She has to start over, she said.

But what she does have, she said, she can't replace.

"I can get new things. I can replace clothes," she said. "I can't replace my children. I'm just so thankful that none of them were hurt. I'm just so thankful." (Retrieved Excerpts by PD)
