The Rip Van Winkle Effect
Mixed Martial Articles by Pat Darnell  |  July 22, 2015  |  Bryan TX

What if you were incarcerated for writing about your business? Well, here is an example of that very situation. This Blogger in Iran was arrested for the content of his Blog in 2008. Read on, dear reader ...

The Web We Have to Save — Matter — Medium: "Blogs were gold and bloggers were rock stars back in 2008 when I was arrested. At that point, and despite the fact the state was blocking access to my blog from inside Iran, I had an audience of around 20,000 people every day. Everybody I linked to would face a sudden and serious jump in traffic: I could empower or embarrass anyone I wanted. People used to carefully read my posts and leave lots of relevant comments, and even many of those who strongly disagreed with me still came to read. Other blogs linked to mine to discuss what I was saying. I felt like a king."

Right-Brain or Left-Brain Thinkers ... or Something more Subtle?
Mixed Martial Articles by Pat Darnell  |  Apr 10, 2015  |  Bryan TX

Whatever your local neurosciencetist says, we are only a wee bit further along in understanding how the brain works, as we were in 1800's. The Human Genome Map that was commissioned by Prez Clinton didn't pan out. It only makes sense if you are a gene looking for a place to live in the human body. Otherwise a gene found in the human genome is sometimes activated, and sometimes not, according to the "environment." Aha!

So follows the Human Brain Map that is rapidly coming into view in the next few years. Brain imaging has taken off, and many before and after images can be viewed. Before someone's brain is worked on is imaged, and then afterwards is the result of the work. Still sounds gruesome, invasive and 19th century-like, doesn't it?

Debunking 7 Popular Myths About the Brain: "Brain imaging technologies have also demonstrated that the entire brain shows levels of activity, even during sleep. "It turns out though, that we use virtually every part of the brain, and that [most of] the brain is active almost all the time. Let's put it this way: the brain represents three percent of the body's weight and uses 20 percent of the body's energy." - Neurologist Barry Gordon of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Scientific American"
'via Blog this'

What 7 myths are we concerned with today?

  1. You only use 10% of your brain. Does that mean 10% of cubic inches of your three pounds of brain matter, or what?
  2. Brain damage is permanent.
  3. People are 'Right-brained' or 'Left-brained.'
  4. Humans have the largest brain.
  5. We are born with all the brain cells we ever have, and once they die, these cells are gone forever.
  6. Drinking alcohol kills brain cells.
  7. There are 100 billion neurons in the human brain.

If these seven myths are not accurate depictions of the human brain, then our next president will use 100% of his brain, continue to grow brain cells even if he is a she named Gabby. It matters if the next prez can count and utter words, like it always has, right or left brained, random or dogmatic, as it will come out in the wash.

The new prez in 2016 should have a working knowledge of biology, and environment, to augment decisions. This prez must realize his life, and every living things' lives, cannot be defined without "environment."

Our new prez will drink if he wants to be more cognitive. In conclusion:
"We found that on average the human brain has 86bn neurons. And not one [of the brains] that we looked at so far has the 100bn. Even though it may sound like a small difference the 14bn neurons amount to pretty much the number of neurons that a baboon brain has or almost half the number of neurons in the gorilla brain. So that's a pretty large difference actually." (Cherry, Kendra. – Dr. Suzana Herculano-Houzel. captured 4/10/2015. LINK)

State of the "MooPig Wisdom" Address

by Pat Darnell  |  Sep 6, 2013  |  Bryan TX

After 3000 posts in MooPig Wisdom, and five years, it becomes necessary to explain what we stand for. It should be the other way around, but a blog is an evolving beast. What we know now, we didn't have a clue on in the beginning. [Do you notice that I am using the peculiar plural "we" in this message?]

Five years ago, 60 months, I went to key players and asked them to give me 60 months of truce. What for you may ask. In that time period two major events took place. The last two remaining Hynds kids had a kind of reunion in Dallas. [See CLOG Here] And now both of them have passed away. If they resolved themselves with the "key players," or not, was a major concern of mine. I can't speak for the key players, whether they took stock in the foretelling or not. But at that time in 2006 a light bulb went on and I conceived of using the Internet to journal the 60 months; and to possibly open up a forum for key players to communicate in.

In 2006 I had the knowledge of how to open a blog site using Google Beta Blogger, and also the knowledge of how to "cut and paste." Thus I spent long hours skidding through Google Images and other blogs looking for content. I discovered formats, tricks, news sites, and lots of other first timer bloggers. A list at this time of all MooPig Wisdom's discoveries is improbable if not totally moot.

And, the opportunity for others to join in never happened. What is important is that in its completion is a message. Without communication of thoughts, ideas and desires there is no chance for resolve. Now that the last of the Hynds children have passed, there is a lull in writing posts. Maybe the inspiration for blogging messages is lost.

Blogs are labors of love, MooPig Wisdom surely is. MooPig wisdom has about 400 pageviews per day. We are not read widely and, well, it kind of sucks. If you are not familiar with that term, labor of love describes a work that has merit, but few recognize its value.

Also, as in our case, Blogs are also master works of piracy. We tried to put MooPig Wisdom into a book format to put on our shelves, but found out that Blog 2 Print has a limit on how many pictures it can process from blogs to paper copy. MooPig Wisdom has over 8000 illustrations. It's like the KaaZaa of mostly pirated pictures and illustrations collections.

Not a brag, just a fact.

Now the 60 months are up, and MooPig Wisdom has run its course. Or has it?

MooPig's "So You Want to be a Blogger" Department :: da' BLOG

So, copy it, for the love of God...
by Pat Darnell  |  Nov 12, 2012  |  Bryan TX
[Picture LINK]

People want to figure it out for themselves. That is the reason for Blogs.

Everywhere one goes there is mysteries. People encounter mind benders at every interval of life. No kidding. If the mind were left unattended by reason and logic, ahem, it would go from stimulus to stimulus unguarded. Much like a puppy acts, people would let their noses lead them to every new smell.

In as much as people are not puppies, bloggers are not just anyone with enough time or narcissism to document every tedious bit of minutia filling their uneventful lives. Bloggers are first, good typists, then, people with too much time.

And now you want to be a blogger. Let's start then with "brand ambassadorships." Yes you heard it right here; "brand ambassadorships." No matter what you publish in your blog, you are now a maker of brands. You know that you can copy\ past nearly everything on the Internet... as long as you cite the sources, you might get away with using other blogger's stuff.

"Brand Ambassadorships" fulfill, but do not exceed anyone's ability to "copy and paste."

In the long run, you and your blog will probably suffer "some attacks and cease and desist" bombardments. You will survive though. There is no right and wrong up in here. Believe me if you are seeing the same stuff over and over for ten years, that is the stuff that is working on the Internet. So, copy it, for the love of God.

No matter how slimy, or, blocked, your stuff is, it has a market. And once you put yours out there, you have the makings of a patent. And your patent will some how become a brand. Then others will take up your standard and become "brand ambassadors" of yours.

Remember where you were on 9\11, and what you were doing? Well, if you don't then you are probably Taiwanese and were asleep at the time in Taiwan ... but that event scored a "large Internet number" for the sake of the technology that brings the Internet to us.

"Large Internet Numbers" are what we blog for, ultimately. One good friend says he gets 20,000 unique hits on his blog daily. Now, that is a "Large Internet Number." At social network sites, like faceBook, a celebrity, like Vin Diesel, will receive 35,423 LIKES after he says in his STATUS that "he just ate a sandwich." NOTE: You and I will have to work harder to get LIKES on our STATUS Updates.

"Large Internet Numbers." After the 9\11 debacle, people ran to and fro, listened to appeals, tried to sort out the information being fed to them, and what not, just plain tried to figure it out for themselves. The scenes of destruction from 9\11 imprinted all the minds of Americans who own televisions. And the Internet exploded with snippets of information, which, by the way, has grown to a very large Internet presence today in 2012.

In the aftermath 9\11 events remained imprinted on peoples' minds. No one was willing to just pass it off as a meaningless act. Some sorting out of the events needed to be done nationwide, so the imprints would go away, thus the best use for blogs. Dissipation of information from first source to all source points future.

Therefore, would be Blogger, remember no technical know-how is required to start. You just need to be a thinking human being who wants to figure out stuff for yourself. The rest will follow.

And you will enjoy your new self awareness.

Ancient Aliens :: Sun not up yet :: Sun Worshipers

It's not even Five AM yet ...
Snagged by Pat Darnell  |  Aug 2, 2012  | Bryan TX

An Egyptian hymn from the era of the pharaoh Akhenaten (d. c. 1336 BCE) expresses the intense ancient
reverence for the sun:

You appear beautiful,
You living sun, lord of Endless Time,
are sparkling, beautiful and strong,
Love of you is great and powerful.
Your rays touch every face…
Your radiant skin animates hearts.

You have filled the Two Lands [of the horizons] with love of yourself.

Pharaoh Akhenaten and wife Nefertiri worshipping the sun c. 14th century BCE

3. Likewise, they were also very aware of the stars.
Naturally, the ancient practice of ―astrotheology‖ incorporated reverence for not only the sun but also the moon, planets, stars and constellations. In Prehistoric Lunar Astronomy, Indian scholar Dr. S.B. Roy remarks:

To the ancients...heaven was the land of gods and mystery. The sky...was itself living. The stars were the abode of the gods. The shining stars were indeed themselves luminous gods.

Astronomy was the knowledge not of heavenly bodies, but of heavenly beings: It was the heavenly, celestial cosmic or divine knowledge—knowledge of devas—the bright luminous gods.

Ancient stellar symbols and star maps have been found dating to many thousands of years ago, including in cave paintings and carvings. As the BBC reports in ―Ice Age star map discovered‖: A prehistoric map of the night sky has been discovered on the walls of the famous painted caves at Lascaux in central France.

The map, which is thought to date back 16,500 years, shows three bright stars known today as the summer Triangle...

According to German researcher Dr. Michael Rappenglueck, of the University of Munich, the maps show that our ancestors were more sophisticated than many believe.

In ―‗Oldest Star Chart‘ Found,‖ astronomer Dr. David Whitehouse states:
The oldest image of a star pattern, that of the famous constellation of Orion, has been recognised on an ivory tablet some 32,500 years old.

MooPig's Predictions Department :: "December 22, 2012"

by Pat Darnell | Feb 19, 2012 | Bryan TX
[Photo LINK]

MooPig Predictions Department is 75% [+\-] 3% sure that there will be a multitude of out-of-work actors and actresses on December 22, 2012. It will be precluded by previous irrational casting of thousands to play extras in Zombie movies, a genre that will dissipate.

As far as unemployment rates, housing starts, tsunamis, quakes, zero population growth, presidential election, and internet freedom, and stuff, MooPig relies on web sites that fill in those predictions for this year, 2012.

Try this LINK for grins.

Thanks, again, faithful follower of  MooPig Wisdom ... thanks for tuning in.

Sunday 10:28 AM :: "I Feel Your Pain"

Tough Love has to be
by Pat Darnell and Capt T Blogger Zeroh

Human behavior is actually very easily manipulated. Most, who have performed a "behavior" test on human subjects, likely decide for themselves, it is not a procedure one would like done to oneself. This is why tests of behavior are guarded? We don't know for sure.

Tough love is a result of behavior manipulation. But most times manipulation is a cause in life, a personal feeling in humans, or a circumstance one faces alone.

If one could feel each other's loneliness, in the exact way of the others', we would be as lonely, even if we aren't. Also, if one could feel the others' pain, we would would never hurt another person due to the fact we would be hurting our selves.

I am not talking about self-abuse that many humans include in their days. I am referring to pain and real hurt like deep gashed wounds, gun shots, victimizing hitting and pummeling -- yes and Taser'd subjects would transmit pain to their subduer, us. Ouch!!

This statement goes along the lines of "if male Senators could bear children, abortion would become a Constitutional Amendment enforced across the land."

If I do not feel your pain, I remain as I am. If I inflict pain by self-abuse, then I remain all the same. We are unable to feel another's pain, as it really is. If I did feel your pain I am not going to hurt you, because it would be unbearable, making myself the victim.

Jesus was experiencing cataclysmic pain when he was crucified, and he simply said "Forgive them for they know not what they do."

And "they do not know" -- because the only pain they feel is their own pain; hardly the pain of a slowly murdered martyr. Their behavior is directly proportionate to their pain experiences, not to the pain someone else is feeling.

In conclusion, maybe it is the way of nature for humans to endure the pain of birth, only to be given each his own lonely passage through life.

Google Flabbin

Googlers muse about the next decade's technological advances and their possible impact on the world. Read now.

Google's about to have its second tenth birthday. In late August, Blogger will officially turn 10 years old. As our birthday draws near, we thought it would be interesting to share some fun facts about Blogger:
  • Every minute of every day, 270,000 words are written on Blogger
  • Millions of people worldwide use Blogger to publish to their blog each week
  • Almost two thirds of Blogger's traffic comes from outside North America (What's the #2 country after the U.S.? Brazil, followed by Turkey, Spain, Canada, and the U.K.)
  • The most popular sport for our bloggers? Soccer (that's football to the rest of the world), more than four times larger than the #2 sport, baseball
While we're really excited about this milestone, we want the focus to be on you and the remarkable stories that you and millions of people around the world document on Blogger. After all, blogs are one of the true building blocks of the web, constantly updated not only with news and personal stories, but any kind of information you can imagine. Just this week, there's an Iranian student documenting
the minute-by-minute proceedings in Iran, while a British woman is uploading nightly blog posts from her satellite phone while rowing solo from Hawaii to Australia, while an American college student is running from Amsterdam to Athens with nothing but the pack on his back. There are literally millions more.

June 1: Facebook Alzheimer's

When you get a friend's request from someone that you have no idea where you know them from. The worst part is you have mutual friends from work and school! You post messages on each other's wall and they never know you have no clue as to how you know them.

Tom talking to himself --
Tom: who the heck is this requesting me as a friend?
Tom: I have no clue who this is.
Tom: Crap, I have a case of Facebook Alzheimer's

Day TWO: BLOGGER STRIKE

Boggled & Blogged
Bunged highways are not an unusual occurrence in Houston. Absence of collisions is a new concept, that has police confused. Certain groups have shut down the highway to our Blogoshpere, in a collision-free coupe. Was it by subversion; does it pose any threat?

The quiet hum of the Internet is appreciably quickened at the start of the BLOGGER STRIKE yesterday. Somehow 'http://~header' has been replaced nationwide with 'http://~STRIKE Blogger.'

MooPig has been running extra shifts to make sure it is available when the news comes out. "We have assembled a team of cracker jack Aggies at an undisclosed location to monitor and report."

Apparently last night two people were taken into custody. Websites led special agents to an industrial office park in Valparaiso, IN. It turns out all pre-planned as at that location were a man and a woman in their late twenties who had handcuffed themselves to a post in their office. Some say the postal event was recorded of course by live feed webcam. The tiny surveillance cameras were fitted in NY ballplayer B. Williams' bobble head dolls all around the room.

Alledgedly son of billionaire Roy Welch, Roy jr., and Annabelle Leviton have been monitoring players of parts in a game called "Attrition."

Early views of the video recording shows Roy, jr. sort of spelled it out for us in the video stream, before the detectives arrived. He said, "After 9/11 his research team stumbled upon a quatrain written by Nostradmus that alluded to a Scribe Walkout in late 2001." It also referred to a communication break in long-standing invisible waves upon the air occurring about 2012.

"We started right away in 2001 organizing Internet Protocol state-of-the-art into a second internet, using rapid xenon processing," says Roy in the video. "We relied on web crawls through the IP to supply us with the body of knowledge we would need to start up. For instance we searched for the ignition key for the large subdural bootlog, and we found the answer in a business log. We needed the cosmic debris of baby Giraffes being born, so we set up shop at the Herman Park Zoo Giraffe tunnel. Yes, docents aided us in that task, and it works."

In interview with a docent on duty at the Hermann Park Zoo's Giraffe Tunnel, she offered this: "Well, giraffes do have seven neck bones."

"We needed a substantial grounded housing; we found willing Texans to fund our activity and help us. We chose the locomotive at Herman Park in Houston as the best low lying remote grounded vehicle," says Annabelle. "The Miller Outdoor Theartre Roof nearby is the dish we use to communicate with the satellite that Texans sent to orbit for us late in 2001."

"Even though it all seems clandestine; we are allowing ourselves to be incarcerated today in civil protest of the way writers are treated throughout history. If we don't do this now, who knows what will happen in 2012?" says Roy, jr.

Good question says MooPig. "Giraffes, tin roofs, quatrains, clandestine satellites? What next?" >pd/draft
