MooPig Project Management Department :: "Looking Things Up"

Looking up things has become a major activity for MooPig Editors, especially since we all got smart phones. Yes, we spend hours to find out what the hell happened in our past. Thanks to "the new transparency" of the Internet, we find many useful factoids. You don't need to hear that, you already know it.

He read this word Orenda. Forty years later he looks it up ...

10 Untranslatable Words (And When You'll Want to Use Them): "5. Orenda (Huron) The Meaning: Orenda is the invocation of the power of human will to change the world around us. It is set up to be the opposing force to fate or destiny. If powerful forces beyond your control are trying to force you one way, orenda is a kind of voiced summoning of personal strength to change fate. The Work: For me, the most interesting part of the Matrix Trilogy was the part that can be described by orenda. I wasn't too impressed by the first movie's reveal of Neo as the chosen one, or the idea of all of reality being fake. What I liked was when we got to the second movie, and all that 'chosen one' stuff fell victim to the power of predictability and statistics. Neo wasn't the chosen one. He was a familiar protocol, and he and his fellow humans would obey the dictates of that protocol. Changing that, and the moment when he went from embracing his 'destiny' to fighting it, was the point of the series, I thought."
'via Blog this'

CONCLUSION
We will always have to look things up to satisfy our brains' collective curiosity...

MooPig's Vacation Like the Kennedy's :: "Carnival Cruise 'Dream'"

Re-hashed by Pat Darnell  |  Mar 15, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

New Ad Reflects the Reality of a Carnival Cruise | Mad Magazine: "For the second time in a month, a Carnival Cruise ship — this one called “The Dream” and henceforth known as “The Nightmare” — is suffering power outages and pesky plumbing problems.

Note: by “pesky plumbing problems,” we mean what passengers call “large amount of human waste all over the floor in bathrooms and staterooms.” On the positive side, we hear the view from the stench-ridden cabins is lovely this time of year. "

MooPig Re-run Fun :: "I'm in my Fifties now, so I'm going to start suing"

Class Action Suits We'd Like to See: Article Originally ran 12/30/08 12:10 AM
by Pat Darnell and the Herd | Jan 27, 2013 | Bryan TX

What, Me MAD?
by Pat Darnell | 12/30/08 12:10 AM
I think I will start with a Class Action calling out Mainstream Actresses --

To kickoff the new year, I will file a petition to get back all that is taken from our family by actresses and actors who do not maintain their natural looks. First off Meg Ryan will receive a copy for cutting down her nose so that she looks like Charo when I see her in movies now, 2008. "I don't pay my buck fiddy to see what the actress thinks I should see, I pay to see Meg Ryan as she is," says I. "Give me back my money."

Then I might follow up with a suit against the computer industry for finding so many ways to make it more complicated to write a letter to my friends.

I should include the education system in my appeals for teaching me binary math when I was in elementary school. I think it messed with my logical development, and interrupted my growth. "You want proof? Just look at this blog... yeah, proof, up yours!"

Women who have scorned me, false gods, and the entire authorship of Scientology will hear from me: including Wayne Newton for not singing high notes anymore.

I might single out for class action suit demanding compensation to MAD Magazine readers for MAD going on TV with stupidity and tasteless parody... oh yeah that is what they do. Maybe I will have to rethink that one.

Other groups who need to answer for their less than ideal performance: the IMF, beekeepers, and meat eaters. Hey New York, do you ever eat a steak? Philly tell me you don't eat a lot of steak? How could you let the beef industry falter so far away from its main purpose? Beef recalls in 2008, where's the beef buddy boys?

Beekeepers, how did you obviously fall down on the job so completely and lose all the bees?

International Monetary Fund, how did you just go and let US bankers and securities groups dip into your enormous cache of funds with hedges and gambles? Aren't there any other nations in there to watch things?

So, Meg, you have done so much damage to yourself, it seems you have suffered enough. So I am going to remind you with this punitive subpoena to appear before the court of human race opinion as you ought to be, not as you so often make us try to envision you might be.. How do you like them apples, old girl? You've been served.

This is going to be a GREAT year, 2009. I am truly excited!

 [...]

HA! We were bluffing! But seriously, folks, shouldn't we be compensated?

MooPig 12 Days of Doom Prep :: DAY THREE "D R Congo"

By Pat Darnell  |  Dec 11, 2012  |  Bryan TX

It's difficult to think of DOOM all day long. I was thinking of maybe taking DAY THREE off from blogging, give it a rest, think about constructive things. You know, maybe the torrents of Hell can wait.

Lots of friends and relatives are going about their regular lives, spending their days pretty much as usual. Births, deaths, and sickness, and weather, provides all the drama needed in daily walk about's.

But do I really want to miss a day in the count down to "who knows what" about to happen, or not happen, as in "hasn't it already happened" dozens of times before -- for millennia?

Heck, sure is quiet when you stop to think about flowers, icy, cold, mornings, and stars.

[ ... | ...] *cursor blink blink blink*

Meanwhile, the Media has slanted yet another doomed country, with obfuscation and "imaginative" journalism. It seems everyone is a loose cannon blogger these days. Here -- you read the story while I soak up some Little Feat ... okay?

Their offer of support is more likely to do with safeguarding these interests, and even acquire new ones than with the search for peace and stability. (JOSEPH RWAGATARE, 11 DECEMBER 2012. HERE) ... MooPig's 'HUNH?' Department :: "Gaian Matrix"

Site Review :: Evolver Spores, Gaian Matrix, and Stuff ...
Snagged by Pat Darnell | Oct 12, 2012 | Bryan TX

 [Picture LINK]

Hey, band members, part of your problem today is getting paying people to your concerts... eh? Yes, it is common to most bands out there. So, you find these online evolver network storehouses who can "globally" rout out the people to your particular venue.

Say you have lined up a ballpark for your gala. You are in the business of setting up a fun night for any and all who brave the exclusivity of your bands performing... well maybe you will have a whack-a-mole, and displays of Gaian Matrices, as part of your festival! There apparently is a total smash up of evolving spore partners willing to show up and hawk your event.

If you can think it; then it must happen! Instantaneous people, all adoring your performance. Buuwahhhh!

ABOUT The Evolver Network
Our Mission
The Evolver Network uses online tools to build off-line communities. We connect the dots between visionary idealism and lived experience — from open-source software to complementary currencies, meditation to direct action, festival culture to community-supported agriculture. We bring people together to explore areas that the mainstream culture ignores or suppresses; to learn new skills; to collaborate, celebrate and create.

What Are Spores?
In biology, a spore is a reproductive structure, often adapted for dispersal, and capable of surviving for long periods of time in unfavorable conditions. Evolver Spores are regional hubs where we raise awareness about today’s most pressing issues, inspire activism, and explore transformative practices such as yoga, permaculture, gift circles, and shamanism. Spores are centers of cultural incubation that bring together many different groups to manifest local change. If there is no Spore near you, we invite you to start one.
Contact us at Spores@EvolverNetwork.org.

What Do Spores Do?
Monthly Events Each month, we develop a theme for a network-wide event that sparks dialogue, attracts diverse groups, and empowers local communities to take action. The subjects range widely — examples include peace activism, the Occupy movement, social networks, research into dreams, and alternative currencies.

Check out a list of previous events and upcoming themes.
Film Screenings, Author Tours and Workshops Spores organize screenings of films with relevant content. Authors and musicians can tour the network. Spores set up workshops in many areas, such as nutrition, visionary art, sex and relationships, and permaculture. Festivals, Dance Parties and Conferences

Spores create dance parties, as well as festivals and conferences that combine workshops and talks with music and performance. Each spore has a local character and finds an approach that suits its region.

Projects Accessing the needs of their community, Evolver chapters have cleaned up rivers and beaches, shepherded local alternative currencies and gift circles, hosted citywide environmental festivals, assisted flood victims in Hungary, staged protests against unfair labor practices, kick-started permaculture gardens, orchestrated urban forestry efforts, and more.

Spores Host Activities In Areas Such As: herbalism * social media * film making * urban gardening * design science * leadership training * peace activism * shamanic ritual * quantum physics * bee keeping * open source software * composting * lucid dreaming * performance * psychedelic research * alternative media

MooPig's Home Schooling Department :: "Open Source Curricula"

Welcome to Panacea University and the faculty section of the main Panacea-BOCAF website. Here you will find, via free access, the most current versions of educational semi-textbooks and reports of experiments having to do with alternative engineering that are not currently taught in the accepted universities.

Our aims are to protect and provide studies and archives of information dealing with, for instance, free energy technology, suppressed energy technology, mileage boosting, lowering emissions, alternative fuels, interesting motor modifications and studies in rotors and magnets—sometimes called experimental magnetic motors or experimental magnetic generators.

This introduction cannot exist without mentioning that the ultimate result would be to connect everyone doing practical experiments in re-creating Nikola Tesla's life-work, together, and allow this information to be told and re-told in multiple replications, videos and articles, worldwide.

Racing aboard the Great Lakes schooner Denis Sullivan - latimes.com:
Participants do the jobs that 19th century sailors did as this replica navigates Lake Superior's unpredictable waters.
'via Blog this'
By Karin Winegar, Special to the Los Angeles Times
January 22, 2012
EXCERPT  "  ... Reporting from Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.— At dawn on the dock, a few sailors kiss spouses and dogs goodbye. Then we muster on the quarterdeck: 17 crew (nine volunteers and eight professional sailors) ranging from a 19-year-old South Carolina college student to a 76-year-old Michigan farmer.
I have cruised the South Pacific, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean on the most luxurious ships afloat and have been crew on sailing and racing sailboats for decades in inland lakes, the Great Lakes and the Caribbean. As a volunteer on a tall ship, however, I knew I'd have a rare chance to learn classic skills and be part of a genuine adventure. I was leaving private staterooms, spa treatments and five-star table service far behind. Now I would sleep below decks in a narrow bunk, stand watch, eat shoulder to shoulder and scrub the galley afterward; it sounded grand. ..."
Tuft of thundercloud trailing anvil head,
For a moment dove eating crumb of bread
From bronze rail before flight
With point on horizon to sight
Full wind, full rudder churns freshwater white.

Out to quiet sailing had set we
With jib and full sail cast
As have sturdy fellows past.

I could hear almost the Old Salt
From his boat in briny harbor forgot
Talking as frapped his rope
'... Bloody Lake Mich, choppy old moat,
'... Choppy when the wind blows,
'... Meaner'n a blistered nanny goat.'

Leaning with gaunt arm bare
Upon bronze gunwale, pushing aside thick hair,
Squinting ignobly in bright sun-glare
With meaty fingers tugs at pipe there
Aboard chapped lips points to east horizon
Of inland mare, fashions scowl for his next quip
As great barrier of clouds form at fast clip

'... Tha' water my life did I impart,
'... Not much left for Almighty God to sort.'

Flipping pocket flap open like a hatch
Wriggling fingers while digging for a match
To strike against all that scratch
Of a standard jaw, put he then pipe to pucker,
Match to pipe bowl, sucked he flame to tobacco;

Returning to his task murmuring just audible
Pipe clenched tightly in teeth and jaw
Spatted he to indicate his final card
Whispering as puckers he a humid draw:

'... Wha'cha gonna do ... Wha's one to do ...
'... Wha' character does she reflect when tide low
'... How can tide pool stand for long
'... in ancient thirsty sand?'

Calm smile now on his face in half shadow ...

'... To where my life depart; to live a mariner
'... For what did I impart these hands?'

I remember sail cloth masted, trimmed taut
To gather wind for friends at steady knot
A chance to depart on lake large as a sea
And to cross horizon in time eternity
With promise for life, love and for loss.

"Challenges loom as world population hits 7 billion » Knoxville News Sentinel"

The Only Thing on Earth more Plentifully populated is Insects
Review by Pat Darnell | Nov 6, 2011 | Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]
Challenges loom as world population hits 7 billion » Knoxville News Sentinel:
"My father had 25 children — I have only 14 so far, and expect to produce more in the future," says Kasadha, who has two wives.
"It's an opportunity to bring the issues of population, women's rights and family planning back to center stage," ... said in an interview. "There are 215 million women worldwide who need family planning and don't get it. If we can change that, and these women can take charge of their lives, we'll have a better world." (Crary, David. 16 Oct 2011.)

"... Looking ahead, the U.N. projects that the world population will reach 8 billion by 2025, 10 billion by 2083. ..." (David Crary reported from New York. Associated Press writers Alexa Oleson in Beijing, Nirmala George in New Delhi, Angela Charlton in Paris, Daniel Woolls in Madrid, Victor Simpson in Rome, Onesime Niyungeko in Bujumbura, Burundi; Yinka Ibukun in Lagos, Nigeria, and Godfrey Olukya in Kampala, Uganda, also contributed to this report. [Read Entire Article HERE])

'via Blog this'
Some say it is a time to "reassess." MooPig thinks it is time to develop a taste for insects, like delectable insect pate'.

Otherwise, as described, the situations of many people referenced in this article, there is not enough "food" to go around. That means protein is scarce.

MooPig is all about protein. We have our calf, and we have our pig... if it could be bred, it would here in Texas ... the MooPig -- half cow, half pig. Yummy! So far there is no such protein source, and its two meats are separated for genetic reason.

But if MooPig were available, like a Roman BBQ, we would be puking Veal-pork... and that's not all. We have side dishes too. But will insects become part of our digest? "A side of beetles, please."

In Post Modern world, gangs of people have little food, and share a small room for all functions, eating, sleeping, fracking, and what ever studying they might do ... cramped and stunted ... what is the point?
"Children were a good labor force in the past when there was enough space to cultivate," she said. "Today I can't even feed my family properly. My kids just spend days doing nothing." (Crary, David. 16 Oct 2011. ibid.)
That is sentiment from a Burundi wife and mother of four; " ... [A]nother of the fastest-growing countries is Burundi. With roughly 8.6 million people, it's the second most densely populated African country after neighboring Rwanda. (Crary. ibid.)..."

The majority of population in Nigeria is under 30, youthful: "... Ndyanabangi Bannet, the U.N. Population Fund's deputy representative in Nigeria, notes that 60 percent of the population is under 30 and needs to be accommodated with education, training and health care. (Crary. ibid.)..."

Nigeria is a massive country of almost 160 million people comprising 250 ethnic groups speaking 4000 dialects. In size, it is more than two and half times the size of California. Could anyone imagine a larger California with half the total USA population occupying its borders?

Further irony is that Italy is in its fourth year of zero population growth... among Italians that is:
"... [A] man uses a cane as he walks among other people through an open air market in Milan, Italy. In 2010, more Italians died than were born for the fourth consecutive year according to the national statistics agency. Italy's population nonetheless grew slightly to 60.6 million due to immigration, a highly charged issue across Europe. Italy's youth minister Giorgia Meloni said earlier this year that measures to reverse the birth rate require "millions in investment" but that the resources aren't available. (AP Photo/Luca Bruno) ... "
SUMMARY
Every Nigerian infrastructure and utility is at its limit -- power grid, potable water, food production, "... problems with traffic congestion, sanitation and water supplies are staggering; a recent article in UN-Habitat said two-thirds of the residents live in poverty.
" ... [in Mumbai] For nearly 7 million commuters who ride the overtaxed suburban rail network each work day, every ride is a scramble. Each car is jam-packed; sometimes, riders die when they lose their foothold while clinging to the doors. (Crary. ibid.) ..."
Population continues to grow in many parts of Africa, while European countries only grow in population because of immigration to their borders. Such as, " ... one reason is immigration to France by Africans with large-family traditions, but it's also due to family-friendly legislation. ..."

Incentives to reverse birth rates -- to the positive or to the negative -- remain controversial and difficult to enforce, if "enforce" is a good word to use here... "... Spain used to give parents 2,500 euros (more than $3,000) for every newborn child to encourage families to reverse the country's low birth rate. ..."
"China is always so proud of how quickly we brought down fertility from high to low, and how many births were avoided but I think we did it too quickly and reduced it to too low a level," says Gu. (Crary. ibid.) ..."
The conclusion is that low birth rates deplete the sources for supporting elderly populations. High birth rates produce mortal problems, challenging survival of the masses.
"If the young population remains uneducated, unskilled and unemployable, then that dividend would be wasted," says Shereen Jejeebhoy, a Population Council demographer in New Delhi. (Crary. ibid.) ..."
MooPig Wisdom says for starters: The modern society that develops a diet of insect protein will be the survivor of population surges. 'Nuff said.

MooPig's "Lifetime Fan" Department :: Tina Turner

The Queen of Rock and Roll
by Pat Darnell | September 17, 2011 | Bryan TX

In 2001 someone wrote "as ... all things collectible rises to dizzying heights, there is no category growing in popularity faster than African American history."

Black Stars magazine, Johnson Publications, was a periodical for the Black general public, especially young people. It focused on entertainment celeb's, and featured lifestyle expose'. It influenced the 1970's as it reflected clothing styles and costuming of Black entertainers who were asserting themselves.

Tina Turner, born Anna Mae Bullock; November 26, 1939, is an American singer and actress whose career has spanned more than 50 years. She now enjoys the attention of International Fan Clubs.

One of the world's most popular entertainers, Turner has been called the most successful female rock artist and was named "one of the greatest singers of all time" by Rolling Stone.

Her combined album and single sales total approximately 180 million copies worldwide. She has sold more concert tickets than any other solo music performer in history.

In 2008, Turner left semi-retirement to embark on her Tina!: 50th Anniversary Tour. Turner's tour became one of the highest selling ticketed shows of 2008–2009.

Turner was born a Baptist, but converted to Buddhism and credits the spiritual chants with giving her the strength that she needed to get through the rough times.

Rolling Stone ranked her at 63 on their 100 greatest artists of all time and considers her the "Queen of Rock and Roll".

Report From the Middle :: Not Cool

A Little Something for Your Truffles
by Pat Darnell

This is the story of one man's life, written in second person:

You are young and innocent. You have "feelings" for a certain girl, but she likes some other guy.

You are in a band. But it isn't cool for your age group peers, because it's a stage band -- and you play the clarinet.

You go to Boy Scout Summer Camp every year until Middle School. Your troop is a group of tough guys led by a Scout leader who is a Korean War Vet. You find out the troop camping next to yours is a Scout Troop full of homosexual adolescents.

You get to High School, but you are the wrong color. You're White.

You go to College. Great to be here, and you have feelings for a certain girl; but she has feelings only for the football team -- the whole team.

You move to the big city. You get a job or three. You find you cannot support the lifestyle you think you deserve.

You find a girl. Feelings for her, eh! She marries you anyway, you have a child and a dog, a mortgage, and taxes and a yard to maintain... but she decides she likes guys taller than you.

You get divorced. You never see your child again. And you get taken to the cleaners, and end up trying to kill yourself. But that you fail at also.

You find a small business owner. He thinks you are a genius. You help him and turn business around to double what it was. The little Township where the business dwells, has a thug for a mayor and that mayor and his gang decide they do not like your partner because he is Chinese. The Township maneuvers and the business is lost...

You move from job to job, and versions of this story is repeated seven times. You are a middle manager genius who fails to understand that you should never have had feelings for the girl when you were still young and innocent.

That's today's Report from the Middle where the women are strong, men are not cool, and the children are all able-bodied.

Unused File Extensions -- Poooft

This is about sub-contracting all those Technical Questions that MooPigsters everywhere frequently ask our Technical Departments ... [op\ed]
Retrieved by Pat Darnell and the Herd

QUESTION:
Anonymous 08-19-2004 at 04:03:09 PM [we're only six years behind, yes, isn't every one?]
Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.customize,microsoft.public.windowsxp.perform_maintain (More info?)

Several registry cleaners I have used on my system have identified
many unused file extensions in the registry. Try SpeedyPC  HERE

Is it wise to delete them as the application suggests?

The reg cleaners identify extensions like these:
..0 000 003 .acr .bat .com .DE .E .gsm .mag .SRV .uk .TZ .xlw

They are all in this key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Currentversion \Explorer\FileExts

The registry entry for the listed ones says:
(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)

I recognise some of the extensions as ones which I use. For
example .bat and .com, But are they unnecessary where the reg
cleaner has found them? So is it wise to delete them as the
application suggests?

ANSWER:
registry cleaners aren't really good at searching for all those files.
go to start, search for files, type *.0 and see if anything comes up.
you may want to enable searching slow files and hidden and system files.
if nothing is found, then go ahead and delete the entry. do this for all
the file types (*.acr, etc) and use this as the basis for determining
what is "unused".

also, this isn't going to save you a lot of registry space or anything.

How do you like them apples, old girl? You've been served.

This is going to be a GREAT year, 2009. I am truly excited!

My Santa List: Part Two -- Spread the Wealth

Get Grandma a new Guitar!!

Woody B Internal Combustion Guitar - If his Santana-esque guitar stylings have neighbors about one decibel away from a lynching, this guitar might save some sanity. It sends noise out to an amp and then back into the guitar, where a "coupling mechanism" feeds that sound back to the strings, allowing for low-volume (and relatively low-priced) sustain and feedback. Your battered eardrums offered to chip in.
$2,500 - Buy from Woody B

Blackbird 002 - An HP gaming PC may not have been at the top of many wish lists in the past, but that changed when the company went all out with its Blackbird 002 rig, which is now actually available at a few retail stores for those last-minute shoppers out there. You're also in luck if you're ordering online, as HP is offering a special config that it's actually calling the "Ultimate Stocking Stuffer" for just $2,299 until December 31st.
$2,299 and up - Buy from HP

Segway PT i2 Ferrari Limited Edition - Really. It's a Ferrari Segway. How can you go wrong?
Around $10,000 - Buy from Ferrari

Motorola Aura - It's exclusive, expensive, and high-end. It boasts a 16-million (yes, million) color circular lcd, a 62-carat (yes, carat) sapphire crystal lens, and a 2.0 megapixel camera, all in the most attractive package Motorola's ever graced us with. What more could your tech-savvy princess ask for? Just be sure you get her the real thing -- a cheap knockoff really won't do.
$1,999 - Buy from Moto Store

Conclusion:
As a MooPig "Chief Truffle Analyst," I am going to say the story here is about boasting and shoving Green Goreconomics and financial bailout crisis in the faces of those who made it up. Our Pacific Rim Oriental Neighbors still have supreme buying power to pay full price, and to demand and charge list.
