The WAR, Veterans History Project

I am an opinionated SOB, because me daddy and me mammy went through WWII. If you or I had to live that drama out, would we have the nerve to go on with our lives afterward? Think about the future, and you will understand the present. Today the veterans of WWII are in their eighties. Historians should not delay finding an art form that will capture the last of our greatest resource, our parents' eyewitness to truly a world at war. It is they who made you and me strongly opinionated, and human.

As part of the community engagement campaign for THE WAR, individual public television stations nationwide are reaching out to a broad range of veterans and their families to capture the stories of World War II.
Participating PBS stations are offering an online story collection tool – called PBS StoryShare – that allows users to directly upload World War II stories and photographs to a searchable database.
