MooPig NASCAR Department :: "Texas World Speedway near College Station... "

Texas World Speedway near College Station closing to make way for housing development | Fox News: "COLLEGE STATION, Texas –  Texas World Speedway will close in mid-June to make way for a $55 million housing development. The nearly 400-acre road racing venue near College Station held its first sanctioned race in 1969. The 2-mile oval has been the site of numerous Indy car, stock car and other races. Track CEO Bill Mather is also the developer who plans to convert the speedway into a community called Southern Pointe. Backers say the development will include 1,400 homes, commercial sites, nature trails and space for a school."

Whoever conquers telecasting live sports Online will be the winner of about 90 million viewers nationwide. ESPN is the reason many still have cable TV, as reported today in Business Insider Chart of the day. Meanwhile Texas World Speedway is no longer on the outskirts of the town it called home. It's land value has made it prime for a new purpose of housing.

These two phenomena correlate because since 1969 the Texas World Speedway was  in its beginnings far enough away from College Station/Bryan, and from Navasota Texas to not disturb bedroom communities with noise during night and day. It is 75 miles Northwest of Houston. Now the Speedway will become a bedroom community. "...The College Station City Council last week [March 2015] approved a development agreement to extend the city's planning authority to the property.(AP, March 17, 2015. LINK) ..."

And everyone in this vicinity will have to watch car races on cable provided by ESPN or others.

Is in Dubai...
Taller Tales Articles by Pat Darnell  |  July 28, 2015  |  Bryan TX

Take a nano-second out of your busy day and contemplate Tall Buildings around the world. What, and who do they house? We sure don't know who leases all that high floor space. What we do know is that tallest skyscrapers are almost always structures that define a place. That is they are what puts many places on the maps.

Sears Tower, a skyscraper in Chicago that was the tallest building in the world until the construction of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, put Chicago on the map for many years. Yes, that is Sears and Roebuck Company, but is now called Willis Tower, because "... London-based insurance broker Willis Group Holdings got a steal at $1 million per year [starting March 2009] for the naming rights as long as it leases at least 103,716 square feet in the building. Their lease is up in 2025. ( Melissa Harris, Chicago Tribune. March 4, 2015. LINK)..."

In the United States, "... Completed in 1973 as the Sears Tower, the 110-story building was the world's tallest for 23 years. It lost its designation of tallest in the U.S. after the Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat ruled in 2013 that New York's One World Trade Center is taller.(ibid. Harris) ..."

Which brings us to the article we found about a very tall building to be built in China ... Changsha Tower ... building whose construction has been halted now for two years: "...The proposed Sky City tower was set to become the world's tallest building, but its construction was postponed just days after it started in 2013, amid safety fears and a lack of necessary government approval.(de zeen magazine, 20 July 2015. LINK) ..."

This modern hypodermic needle designed tower at 838 meters high, was to be built using modular components -- after pouring its foundation -- in only 90 days. YIKES! The large 2.6 hectare holes dug for its foundation have been filled in and are now fish farms and melon patches. Read more about it in this LINK 'ed title:

Planned skyscraper plot in China repurposed as fish farm: "At present the title of world's tallest building is held by the SOM-designed Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at a height of 828 metres. It is expected to be overtaken by the Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, which is already under construction with a projected height of over 1,000 metres."

CONCLUSION
Land use has been the story of mankind. Bluntly, land grabs are the common denominator in humankind's history. How a hectare of land is "purposed" depends on the meeting of imaginations of humans who over come the imaginations of others who oppose with their own purposes. Once there is a meeting of minds, towers will be built. The mega-universal-corporation in the US that leases the majority of space in tall buildings usually gets to name that tall building.

MooPig Climate Project Department :: "At Some Point Someone has to talk about it ..."

Forbes says So.....
Re-directed Articles by Pat Darnell  |  July 25, 2015  |  Bryan TX

High heat index's did not exist in the 20th century. We just knew how high the heat was by how much water was dripping out of the window air-conditioning units in our houses; or if you felt dizzy after wrestling, or playing kill the man with the ball at the park. Thankfully, water fountains were everywhere in those days. Fifty birthdays later I run into this article:

New Analysis Shows Earth Is Warming Faster Than We Thought - Forbes: "Politicians may dither and talking heads bloviate, but the scientific consensus is clear: climate change is real, humans are responsible, and its effects are already being felt around the world. At the same time, some details are in question, including how fast climate change is increasing and which specific effects we see are due to it as opposed to other sources."

Apparently, the ability to carry on a conversation about our heating up earth today requires first one's ability to digest hundreds of thousands of pages on the subject. As far as we can tell, no one was counting on this phenomena to happen. No King or Queen, or Stock Broker, or Fisherman, nor a Fish Monger's Wife, had any notion of the impending saturation of evidence giving cause for our Globe's Heating Up. Simple facts are buried in too much information by too many different angles. We need Walter Cronkite to come on TV and say: "Our global environment is heating up."

Although Al Gore said it, still no one is taking the helm like old Walter might have.

Forbes summarizes, I agree, and the nitty gritty truth risen global temperatures means is, that widows and orphans of the world will die first. Weak and infirm, elderly, and sick will also find no comfort. I am certain that this is the living Earth's method for getting back on track.

The Rip Van Winkle Effect
Mixed Martial Articles by Pat Darnell  |  July 22, 2015  |  Bryan TX

What if you were incarcerated for writing about your business? Well, here is an example of that very situation. This Blogger in Iran was arrested for the content of his Blog in 2008. Read on, dear reader ...

The Web We Have to Save — Matter — Medium: "Blogs were gold and bloggers were rock stars back in 2008 when I was arrested. At that point, and despite the fact the state was blocking access to my blog from inside Iran, I had an audience of around 20,000 people every day. Everybody I linked to would face a sudden and serious jump in traffic: I could empower or embarrass anyone I wanted. People used to carefully read my posts and leave lots of relevant comments, and even many of those who strongly disagreed with me still came to read. Other blogs linked to mine to discuss what I was saying. I felt like a king."

MooPig Art History NanoSecond Department :: "Sigfried Giedion"

If you have ever had a question in your mind of how the environment of cities came to be, you might look into reading this nice book. You will just have to take our word for it. Sigfried Giedion was an Art Historian who lived at the turn of the century, 1900. His contemporaries invented Organic Architecture,  FLW and Alvar Aalto, and le Corbusier, and city scapes. This book on Modernism compares art, sculpture, and architecture as he explains his environment in a good way.

His 900 page book Space, Time, and Architecture -- The Growth of a New Tradition was recently [Sep 2008] investigated in the thesis shown in the attached reference LINK. The book was introduced in its first publication in 1941.
