U.S. Postal Service :: Will Congress Save it?

[PICTURE LINK]

U.S. Postal Service May End Without Congressional Action | Video - ABC News:
I talked to the wife of a Postal worker yesterday. I asked her if they are worried about the closing of the Postal Service. She said, "Eh..."

I took that to mean, "so what."

Then she added: " They'll never shut down the Post Office."

If she doesn't worry, then I am guessing all others who do not depend on the Post Office absolutely don't care either.

Just checkin'. 'via Blog this'
" ... One of the US governments biggest affirmative action programs – the US Postal Service- is proposing to cut 120,000 jobs and withdraw from Obamacare:
The financially strapped U.S. Postal Service is proposing to cut its workforce by 20 percent and to withdraw from the federal health and retirement plans because it believes it could provide benefits at a lower cost.
In a notice informing employees of its proposals — with the headline “Financial crisis calls for significant actions” — the Postal Service said, “We will be insolvent next month due to significant declines in mail volume and retiree health benefit pre-funding costs imposed by Congress.”
During the past four years, the service lost $20 billion, including $8.5 billion in fiscal 2010. Over that period, mail volume dropped by 20 percent. (Mayor. August 12th, 2011. LINK) ... "

Mayor, I do not have the standard gripes with the USPS that so many do. For 14 years, I’ve used them exclusively for shipping my product both domestically and abroad. Thousands and thousands of packages…and not ONE glitch.

Seriously.

But $41.15 as an average wage? Really? I mean, you are talking “hourly???” I’m wondering if that is the total employee cost per hour…wages, benefits, retirement, health care, etc. I’ve got to look in to that.

And, you are correct. In a rollback, women and minorities will be hardest hit.

Technology definitely will doom the USPS. Hell, if it weren’t for the junk mail it would be defunct already. And, retailers are abandoning that soon, I’m sure. We already are signed up to get our flyers by e-mail from the merchants we frequent. They’ll all wise up eventually, and drop dead tree ads.

There will be weeping, and wailing amongst the masses of USPS employees, no doubt. The truth is that like ALL federal agencies (pseudo as the USPS may be), they’ve over-promised, and demanded too little productivity for high wages. It’s gonna be interesting to see what is left of it. (Andy. August 5, 2011. LINK)

Tropical Storms like Edouardo are the Worst Kind...

In Louisiana, Gov. Bobby Jindal declared a statewide emergency, and two communities in the western part of the state, Vermilion Parish and Cameron Parish, asked thousands of residents to evacuate low-lying coastal areas that are prone to flooding. The storm was expected to hit Tuesday morning anywhere from western Louisiana to Port O'Connor, Texas.

Tropical Storm Gaining Speed in Gulf By JUAN A. LOZANO, AP

For vacationers, the timing of the storm couldn't be worse: The Texas coast banks on tourism at this time of year, with much of the state baking in 100-degree weather. The storm also comes in the wake of Hurricane Dolly, which took aim at the resort community of South Padre Island on July 23.

Everyone within the sound of our voice take heed: Edouardo is a stewing storm that could froth up the gulf until it surges coastlines, swamps and rearranges humanity's dwellings, and buries lots of coastal towns.

Yes, Gulf Coast People always personify their natural disasters. Let's see if we can be the first to make Edouardo a racist issue... first right here on MooPig Wisdom:

"Hey, Edouardo, you little Bitch!!" we might say. "Or there she comes!" --or-- "What kind of name is Edouardo; can I call you Ed?"

For all you betting, gambling types -- here is tonight's prediction. Will Connie Porter be correct for Galveston?

Connie Porter, owner of Avenue O Bed and Breakfast in Galveston, said she planned to watch the progression of the storm on Monday, but she wasn't worried about it. She said a storm like the one being described might mean some debris and that people should take care of patio furniture, but she didn't anticipate much more.

"It's not going to be a huge issue for anybody in this area," Porter said.

What's the money on: Galveston becomes a modern Atlantis? or she is correct "No damages, just a little patio furniture?"

Again, you heard it first right here, MPW, in this pirated article from AOL News who promises that they have embedded links in all their stolen AP articles...

Decisions for 2008

There is no shortage of communication devices and plans. Despite so, it concerns me there is no increase in communications. Lots of gizmo's, not so much communicating.

Thus, my decision for 2008 and my own voice over Internet protocols will become sweeter. You can bet my prioroty is my output at lowest cost. I want to find suitable communication Tech-nique to get around contracts and phone plans, text advertising, scams and folderole of the like.

I will not however ease up on blogging. I realize MooPigWisdom is a single sided perspective editorial, me,,,and mine -- but at least I am old and opinionated. Old means Wise, didn't you know?

Appearing here as December grinds down, more information on my communications Jones, that I seek, as I find answers to questions; will be a study for us all. So keep you ear to the tracks, and your nose to the wind; the wolves will be vigilante, you can count on it!
For instance:
Why is there bad cellular service in Brazos Valley?
Why can I hear you, but can't see you?
Is this all there is?
What is Text-ing supposed to do?
Which devices are recently gone the way of the pager/beeper?
