MooPig Site Reviews :: "Ancient Alphabets"
(SOURCE)
The enhanced digital image above was taken following its discovery by producer, Lee Frank, while filming the zone's expedition, deep in the remote canyons of southeast Colorado. It is a simple but remarkably well preserved script that illustrates the use of the traditional old Negev alphabet but reverting to the archaic form to reference the name of God, or EL.
Lee chose to name the important discovery after Rollin Gillespie, a remarkable scientist whose insight and intellect first stimulated our interest in American petroglyphs. It is now known as The Gillespie Stone. [N 37 38'13.53" / W 103 35'13.76"]
TRANSLATION:
The upper left ligature has three letters. The yod and resh are immediately recognized, as well as a rare inclusion of the vowel aleph. This ligature reads yaRE, "fear, respect, to hold in awe..."
See the old Negev alphabet and modern Hebrew equivalent. Also, remember that vowels are not usually written in old Negev.
_____________
Background Information
" ... After the Expedition of '98, when we first saw these strange petroglyphs, ViewZone was anxious to return to Colorado to translate the petroglyphs using the recently discovered old Negev alphabet in combination with an old Hebrew lexicon. Our dreams became a reality in May of 2000 and the team assembled in La Junta, Colorado, equipped with all of the hi-tech tools that we could gather.
La Junta, Colorado is a small town in the middle of the most remote part of the lower 48 states. Surrounded by miles of prairie, it's raison d'etre (a US Calvary outpost that guarded the sana Fe trail) was renewed by American's insatiable appetite for meat. La Junta is smack dab in the middle of "meat country." The railroad terminal and livestock auctions in La Junta are giant death camps for a variety of stock.
The country around La Junta is dry and sandy with many deep and rocky canyons. Most of the vast land is either privately owned or sublet from the government by huge cattle ranchers. ... Cattle rustling and arrowhead hunting ... most locals were wary of strangers and guarded revealing geographic information. Oddly, they seem completely unaware and uninterested in the archaeological significance of the petroglyphs. Many privately owned ancient sites are currently being trampled by herds of Herefords.

Ted Barker, a local rancher who has devoted years to petroglyph research, negotiated for the ViewZone Expedition to gain access to many of the important, privately held sites containing examples of old Negev. The biggest surprise, however, was that many of the most intact and useful sites were located on the extremes of the National Grasslands area, a public park.
Conclusion:
With the evidence our crew discovered, there should be no doubt that a migratory group from the Sinai occupied America many hundreds of years BC. In fact, much of the old Negev script that we documented was itself written over much older, more crudely drawn, Negev script. We saw countless evidence of at least two eras of Negev-like symbols, as well as the Plains Indian scrapings and the latter so-called "cowboy art" from the traffic of the near by old Santa Fe Trail.
While we await the scrutiny of the scholars to acknowledge our work, and to do their own research, we will continue translating and posting our material. We invite anyone with an interest to share in this exciting exploration of ancient history by using the translation program and viewing future images as they are reviewed by our team. ... (SOURCE)

WHY is Information Lost? the Answer may require an Ego-death Experience.
by Pat Darnell
Why do we constantly reach out to touch our past?
Research is what it is: a re-touch, read again, dissect the past, oblivion, a lossy compression... and some say it is the Hebrew alphabet. (LINK) Our sensory limitations are stretched when we are asked to go by faith, believing in past things.
Mummy hunters in Egypt look into tombs and find bones of who knows who; why? In quests for understanding, we often lose our sense of priority, and go barging into grave sites.
Curious about our past, some even read and re-read Hemingway to find a clue. In that context, clues are few and far between, and overly cryptic info is rarely easily absorbed by living brains; brains that want to compress information into patterns of recognizable tidbits. That stops no one, though, as we build our machines in like form. A trade off some might say; as human sensory scales are limited.
Our computers use compression algorithms that make data more sortable, as some data is repetitive. By taking advantage of the limitations of the human sensory system, a great deal of space can be saved while producing an output which is nearly indistinguishable from the original. These lossy data compression methods typically offer a three-way tradeoff between compression speed, compressed data size and quality loss. Why then is it the past-present-and future is so odd in a rarefied existence sort of way? Because we go outward when we are discovering the past, as in space exploration, where information in the form of light takes light years to reach our sensors. And, as we travel inward, the same perplexity of information escapes our limited human experience; as we approach tiniest "substances" of multi-dimensioned matter that exist beyond our vision.
Memory is our foothold. For instance my wife and I both have expressed at various times "how" we remember the kids as babies. Once we were looking at photographs, and our daughter, as a baby, was dressed in a familiar jumpsuit. My wife said she remembers how the little jump suit felt in her hands. In remembering these valuable sensory events about our children, we are at our most transparent, or ego-dead moments.
Truth is -- information is not lost, but it takes faith to fill in the blanks when duplications are encoded, and the original is long gone.
"The ancients studied the patterns in the heavens- I ... [Stan Tenen] ... began to think, 'What would happen if you could map the patterns of the temples of the heavens onto the temples of your mind?' The patterns in the Hebrew Bible are the same as those in the heavens; when you chant regularly you are weaving these patterns onto your mind, internalizing the patterns of the universe-stepping out of your skin to have an ego-death experience." ISRAEL: Elections, and the prophecy of pot
David Ben-Gurion was Israel's first prime minister. Each year, the date of his death is marked by a ceremony, and many politicians take the opportunity to deliver important policy speeches at the grave of the country's founding father.
These days, a different brand of public figure pays Ben-Gurion a visit, bringing with him an even more different policy.

Gil Kopatch, the head of the Aleh Yarok (Green Leaf, in Hebrew) party seeking a seat in Israel's parliament in the coming elections, filmed a campaign ad at the graveside.
Some were angered by the ad, and the Nature and National Parks Protection Authority protested before the Central Elections Committee for what it considered disrespect of the site, which is part of a national park. Justice Eliezer Rivlin, who chairs the committee, rejected the request to ban the ad, saying it was his job to permit freedom of expression for all, including the crass and distasteful. This might not have been a big deal, if it weren't for the party's main platform issue: legalizing cannabis. So, sitting on the grave, Kopatch talks to the dead leader:
"You know, there are around a million Israelis who smoke this stuff. You know how much this costs me?! Loads. And do you know who grows and produces this? Hamas and Hezbollah. Yes, David. As defense minister, it is important that you know this. They're making piles of money off of us. They take the money and buy kassams to fire at us. A pity, no? Why shouldn't it be legal? You see, if it'll be legal, we could grow it here on these arid Negev hills, make the wilderness flower. We will keep the money in Israel and use it for good causes, David, like raising the teachers' salaries. ... The question is, though, what will Hamas and Hezbollah do with all the hashish they'll be left with? The answer is simple: They'll smoke it. They'll smoke it, David, and be calm. Because a good Arab is a calm Arab. And this," concludes Kopatch with a puff, "is my security concept."
So ...

And it shall come to pass in the end of days that they shall turn their stones into stoners, their hotheads into potheads. Not quite what the prophet Isaiah had in mind.
