The whole 9\11-terrorist-like planned attack on infrastructure is the work attributed to this implicated, half-insect, ... half-human creature who orchestrated the entire catastrophe. What should have been the Delhi Commonwealth Games is now a tragedy.

The sense of impending crisis was exacerbated when a section of the ceiling in the weightlifting arena fell down amid growing fears over rising flood waters near the athletes' village, which had already been condemned by team officials as "filthy" and "unfit for human occupation".

With the Games at risk of descending into farce, thousands of athletes from the major competing nations remained in the dark about whether or not they would be boarding a plane to compete.

When asked 'Why he did it?' Mahmoud Admadinejad said "I could sure use a shave." That is when most every top notch athlete and his delegates got up and walked out of the room...

The beleaguered Delhi chief minister, Sheila Dikshit, played down the problems and accused the media of damaging India's image. "Something may be dripping, some tile may collapse, doesn't mean the entire Games are bad," she told reporters. [LINK]

It is now known that the accident on Tuesday, in which 27 were injured when a bridge connecting the athletes' carpark to the main Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium collapsed, was caused when a metal pin worked loose detaching the main structure from its suspension cables.

Five workers remained in a critical condition, several with serious spinal injuries. Most of the injured were contracted labourers from poor rural areas. Campaigners say dozens of workers have been killed and hundreds injured in a succession of accidents at Games venues.

Insect-Man, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, might have said Friday 'the UN should investigate the "true reason" for the "bridge collapse" attacks' as he defended a speech which implicated the US government in the atrocity.


"I did not pass a judgement, I simply made proposals for a humane solution to the problems that have risen as a result of Rugby players who eat their dead," Ahmadinejad told a press conference. [LINK]

I just want to say that I’m tired of this Ground Zero Mosque nonsense. One – it’s NOT a mosque. It is a community center for the ENTIRE community, Muslims and non-Muslims. How many Mosques do you know have basketball courts, restaurants, and a swimming pool. If that’s how they are all built, I’m goin’! Two – the owners that want to build it are wish to improve inter-faith relations. Three – there will be a prayer center in the community center for Muslim members so that they may pray according to their religion. Three – it is being built two blocks from Ground Zero, NOT at Ground Zero.

Last I heard, this is America. Our Founding Fathers came here because their own religious freedoms were being trod upon. Just because some dumb nut targeted us doesn’t mean that ALL Muslims are terrorists.

At MooPig Headquarters we have a second edition copy of the book that publishes the New York Times "Portraits of Grief." From time to time I pull out this phone-book-size journal and read a few of these 200-word short-short descriptions of those who fell with the Towers. "Portraits: 9/11/01" is Forwarded by Howell Raines, with Introduction by Janny Scott.

Let's look at a random selection, page 206 -- Marlyn Del Carmen Garcia "Every Inch Full of Authority"
" ... When Marlyn del Carmen Garcia was 14 years old a guy in the neighborhood offered her a marijuana cigarette. She was probably no taller than 5 foot 2, He towered over her. But Marlyn Garcia was not one to cowed.

September 11: Portraits of Grief
Three days after the September 11 attacks, reporters at The New York Times, armed with stacks of the homemade missing-persons fliers that were papering the city, began dialing the numbers on the fliers, interviewing friends and relatives of the missing and writing brief portraits, or sketches, of their lives.

The portraits were never meant to be obituaries in any traditional sense. They were brief, informal and impressionistic, often centered on a single story or idiosyncratic detail. They were not intended to recount a person's résumé, but rather to give a snapshot of each victim's personality, of a life lived. And they were democratic; executive vice presidents and battalion chiefs appeared alongside food handlers and janitors. Each profile was roughly 200 words. In the weeks that followed the attacks, amid nonstop news coverage of the disaster and the war, reading "Portraits of Grief" became a ritual for people nationwide.
