It looks like a Hammond-type can, since it is stamped "Made in USA", but those went into everything from guitar amplifiers to electronic organs. How about a Fender guitar amp?

Its a Marshall amp I acquired at the flea market for $42... I have never taken one apart before.
I'm thinking about putting it on one of my guitars.
Though the amp is working, it still cuts out when we touch the knobs; then works again, just no reverb which is okay. *[tuner spray]* ? or -- Any pointers there, if you happen by again?
