Today, while Lindsay Lohan is sent yet again to jail for failing her drug test, while a SIMILAC recall is underway, and as the Republicans unveil their pledge to the American People, while Pribek ponders who should represent him as comedian to address the US legislatures ... we are reminded of harsh realities of battered brains inside heads.
Yes, football as it is played in the US might contribute to brain damage in athletes. No we are not going to segue into Pink Floyd's Brain Damage ... but we are going to overstate the obvious as we at the MooPig Arsenal of Best Practices Journalism are most apt to do.
Heads up American Football, contact sport, taught religiously from 3rd Grade to Senior in Colleges, is being reviewed in the Professional leagues. Seems someone noticed the 52G ramming speed of a linebacker taking it to a running back. This was done by putting "sensors" in the linebacker's helmet. The special helmet costs about $10,000 [a bargain when one compares the money being borrowed and spent by the US Government].
" ... Dr. Hunt Batjer of Northwestern University works with the NFL to monitor head injuries like the ones suffered last Sunday by Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Stewart Bradley. Bradley struggled to get up, only to collapse seconds later. Within minutes he was back in the game although he was quickly taken out and remains on the sidelines.-- AND SUICIDE --
"When two helmets hit each other at moment zero, they stop," said Batjer co-chair of the NFL's brain, head and neck medical committee. "They don't break. The brain continues to move." ... [SOURCE]"
" ... [from same article] ... This week there were more shocking revelations when autopsy results revealed samples of Thomas' brain tissue showed he had chronic traumatic encephalopathy or CTE, brain injuries caused by repetitive head trauma which have been linked to depression and impulsive behavior, CBS News Correspondent Cynthia Bowers reports.
"It does give a possible contributing factor to what was an astounding, out-of-the-blue act," said Katherine Brearly, Thomas' mother. ... [SOURCE]"
So, just sayin', maybe it is best for football players to leave their brains on the bench during play ... just sayin'. It could save a lot of brains -- that we are told are a terrible thing to waste. Just sayin'.

I was listening to the local sports talk station this morning, JOCK 99 (no really) and I heard some guy talking about "MooPig City". Needless to say, I went running to the parlor post haste.
Turns out, the guy was discussing the big Arkansas-'Bama game scheduled tomorrow and he was really saying "Soo Pig City".
Go figure.
Must of had my bell rung too many times.
You're too kind to even give a hoot... [hehe Soo~Pig hehe] ... but on a similar note:
On December 4, 1988, Busey was severely injured in a motorcycle accident in which he was not wearing a helmet. His skull was fractured, and doctors feared he suffered permanent brain damage.[wikki]
How do you like that situational-segue with a fedora? [rim shot]
