Abstract
"... We measure the grounding line retreat of glaciers draining the Amundsen Sea Embayment of West Antarctica using Earth Remote Sensing (ERS-1/2) satellite radar interferometry from 1992 to 2011. Pine Island Glacier retreated 31 km at its center, with most retreat in 2005–2009 when the glacier un-grounded from its ice plain. Thwaites Glacier retreated 14 km along its fast-flow core and 1 to 9 km along the sides. Haynes Glacier retreated 10 km along its flanks. Smith/Kohler glaciers retreated the most, 35 km along its ice plain, and its ice shelf pinning points are vanishing. These rapid retreats proceed along regions of retrograde bed elevation mapped at a high spatial resolution using a mass conservation technique (MC) that removes residual ambiguities from prior mappings. Upstream of the 2011 grounding line positions, we find no major bed obstacle that would prevent the glaciers from further retreat and draw down the entire basin () ..."

CONCLUSION
The coastlines of the world will be different in the near [geological time] future. Most of the melting of ice on West Antarctica has occurred in the last five years.

You can either jump up and down and do back-flips because you are so excited about having such cataclysmic geological activity in your own lifetime; or you can snivel and moan in your easy chair about ice melting.

I think I will lick my finger and hold it up to check which direction the wind is blowing to make sure I am upwind of all the bullshit that will come from blaggards, greedy bastards, and their minions.

Sugar Ants :: How to get Rid of Them

Anybody know how to permanately get rid of sugar ants? The little suckers are driving me crazy. I don't see them for two or three days and then BAM! They're back.
Little shits.
I must need to get out the heavy duty spray but hate to to do it because they're on the kitchen counter near the sink. Prepping food is going to be on the island when I get it. Otherwise I'm would have to prep food on that conter and I don't like having to spray pesticides where I cook. I wonder if ant baits would work?

Patty Vandever If you can find their hole or where they are coming in, get Amdro. It's little pellets that you sprinkle around the hole and they take it down inside and it kills the whole colony.

Sharon Dobson just open a pack of Splenda or Equal and put it on your counter. They will eat them and die. Oh that's one of the reasons I don't use artificial sweeteners.

Screwloose Lautrec bomb the attic with 'raid fumigator' makes a smoke. they travel along the wires and pipes up there. peppermint & spearmint oil are ant repellants. home depot sells stuff called Terro. a clear liquid the consistency of honey. always worked for me. cut small pieces of thin cardboard and put a few drops on each and put them in their patch. they eat it and take it back to the nest

Char Haller I have "crazy" ants. Darker, thinner, longer and run like 'crazy'. I've treated the foundation of my house with Sevin dust. Put some of the powder in an old sock or knee high stocking. Use it like a powder puff along the entire outer wall, especially along trails and itty-bitty holes when they enter/exit. I do that 2-3x per year. Seems to keep them out.

Worst Bed Bug Cities 2012: Chicago Moves Up To Claim Orkin's Top Spot For Pest Treatment (PHOTOS): "It's a distinction no city wants near its name: Number One In Bedbugs. The dubious honor this year goes to Chicago, which crept past the 2011 winner Cincinnati on pest control company Orkin's annual listing of cities with the most treatments for bed bug infestations.
