There has been a rash of pictorial essays lately on the web depicting tattoos. While unusual tatt's are interesting -- who is to judge what is "unusual" in the flow of skin scarification?
MooPig Skin Department does cater to ear tags, as it is the "human \ ruminant animal" connection. We notice that catch and release groups are heavy into the "tag" movement as well. Naturalists catch everything from toads to 18 foot long white sharks and tag them before releasing them back to their habitats.
A Side Note Here: ... And it has become sort of scary to think about all those earth visitors allegedly dropping in to tag a few humans ... you know the "aliens" in their spectacular flying machines, who we never get to interview.
But tattoos do about the same thing as an ear tag. Identifying a person becomes ever more easy when there is a large permanent, often multi-colored, bruise on his body. Right?
"Oh, yes, Detective, he had a Woody Woodpecker tattoo on his eyelid..."
I suppose it is less fearsome of a phenomenological development, as long as one doesn't opt to have a Tattoo on his forehead or on his hand -- as in the scripture warning such marks. If commerce became dependent on one's tattoo or tag or insert or implant, we would be falling right into the trap, eh?
And yes I watch "Taboo" on the History Channel -- and yes, it is an ancient, and somewhat institutional, rite to scarify the body in all sorts of ways. Pardon me if I remain skeptical about tattoos.
Perhaps having yourself tattoo'ed is a behavior of sarcasm, on levels I have yet to reach.

Carl Zimmer, who is the owner of The Loom science blog (as well as the author of several very good pop-sci books), asked if any scientists, in his audience, had tattoos. The response was so overwhelming that he created this very cool collection of the tattoos.
These tattoos may have been inspired by a science teacher in their elementary education.... (Read Entire Article here: LINK)"
