"Coastal N.C. counties fighting sea-level rise prediction." (Bruce Henderson. May 28, 2012. HERE)
EXCERPT | " ... State lawmakers are considering a measure that would limit how North Carolina prepares for sea-level rise, which many scientists consider one of the surest results of climate change.North Carolina Legislature Prepares to Ban Sea From Rising! | Common Dreams: "members of North Carolina's legislature. They are getting ready to vote on a bill that would prohibit government agencies from preparing for the estimated three feet rise in coastal sea levels which a state-appointed science panel has predicted will occur before the end of the current century."
Federal authorities say the North Carolina coast is vulnerable because of its low, flat land and thin fringe of barrier islands. A state-appointed science panel has reported that a 1-meter rise is likely by 2100.

" ... Never mind that the news already is out, and that science can't be nullified by the state legislature of North Carolina. Never mind that continuing to build up this hurricane and storm-surge alley is inviting disaster-- even at current sea-levels.Yep, that's right! You can't just nullify certain scientific facts. It is a 1 meter rise a'coming, and it looks like Katrina is the new city planning paradigm for city managers and legislatures. Blimey!
What's proposed is just crazy for a state that used to be a leader in marine science," East Carolina University geologist Stan Riggs who studies the evolution of the coast told the Observer. "You can't legislate the ocean, and you can't legislate storms." (HERE) ... "

I have been looking for more information in this area as most sea level graphs only go back 15,000 years to the end of the last ice age. 125,000 years ago the earth had 300ppm of CO2 and a temperature 5c warmer than now and sea levels rose 6 to 9 meters. We now have CO2 at 390ppm and rising so what can we expect from sea levels? 6 to 9 meters would be very modest.
There needs to be more information on this. A sea level rise of one meter wipes out Holland, London, Florida, and many other industrial areas so we need to know how soon. (HERE)
