Rent for these families jumped from $50 a month to $1000 a month... New York says it can't spend the $140 million to subsidize Advantage Program participants.
The Coalition for the Homeless reports the number of people living in New York City homeless shelters has reached an all-time high of 43,000.
Mayor Bloomberg refuses federal aid in this situation, something Mayor Guiliani did utilize. If it works to use the federal assistance, then what is the hold up.
