Filmed over two years, “Holy Rollers: The True Story of Card Counting Christians” follows the “Church Team,” a group of pastors and church-planters who mastered the “art” of card counting. By learning how to decipher how many cards have been played and which ones vs. how many are left in the deck, the Church Team basically leveled the playing field and beat the casinos at their own game."Holy Rollers” follows the highs and lows of one of the largest blackjack teams in the country: winning streaks, devastating losses, questioning their integrity and even the possibility of a team member stealing from the group. Through it all, I struggled with it. Was it okay for them to gamble? Was it okay if they won? Was it okay if they lost? Was it okay when they dressed up in disguise? Was it okay when they got kicked out for being card-counters? In the end, I’m still not sure. However, what I appreciate about this documentary, is that group of guys didn’t live by the black and white rules. They lived in the gray so that they would have to rely on hearing from God on whether or not what they were doing was the right thing.

OK Man...I watched this movie, A few minutes in I was telling Beka, "Somebody's gonna' start stealing".
Then, when they added a non-Christian to the team I told Beka "That isn't going to go over well. As soon as one of these bastards claim GOD is talking to him, that particular bastard is in control-can't argue with GOD, right?"
Sure as shit GOD started telling the little Ponce wearing the eye shadow that the Pagan was stealing...numbers crunch...attempt at the graceful exit, fade to black.
And that son, is exactly WHY I don't watch a lot of these movies you accuse me of ignoring.....
Whoa ... it has been a Leap Year since you came by over here... truth is I never saw this movie.
Let's pretend that this movie is about trustees incarcerated in a psych hospital... and the whole thing is imagined... while the inmates play at their daily routines of putting on their shorts, drooling, and taking meds, eh?
They envision themselves as High Rollers on a mission from GOD. Then at some point one of the co-conspirators, who happens to be a girl, says: 'Gimme' the keys...!'
This turns out to be the turning point and a bad romance begins. The girl is caught snogging an inmate in the laundry room.
Fast-Forward to the end, credits roll ... I have never 'accused' you of nary a thing about watching flicks... I just once in a while suggest one that might not piss you OFF! Sorry if you rented this one because it was in my blog today.
That would really suck. I liked the title ... that's about it.
so..."One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" with a romantic comic twist...THAT would be a good movie.
No I didn't rent it; was on the Netflix.
It's actually a pretty good film. It's the people in it that are tedious but, they are fascinating to watch...a casino scam that requires multiple people all being staked with cash, turning the cash profits in while getting paid by the hour...it involves a lot of trust so the model employee is Evangelical...what could go wrong?
