MooPig Body Type Department :: "XXXL and Up"

The Most Influential Man you never Heard Of
Mixed martial articles by Pat Darnell  |  May 24, 2014  |  Bryan TX

[Graphic LINK]

Offensive line man is a discreet taxonomic category, and possibly an endangered species. But don't stop reading yet. You have to realize that in the National Football League, NFL, Left Offensive Tackle is the most important, and probably highest in IQ, player on any team. This has been thought about and researched by many aspiring football aficionados, many who are reticent on how to pick players for teams. It's all pretty straight forward. Position of Offensive Line Man is based on a player's physical size.

ALABAMA GAMEDAY: Evolution of offensive lineman... article by Tom Deas, Executive Sports Editor, Tuscaloosa News, wrote:
"... The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in a 2004 study, determined that in a 40-year period starting in the 1960s the average size of men and women in the U.S. increased by approximately 1 inch and 24 pounds."

"...Nobel Prize winner Robert Fogel and his colleagues spent some three decades researching body size and determined that the average height of native-born American men rose four inches between 1890 and 1980. ...[Offensive line coach, Joe Pendry said] "...If we had anybody that was 240 when I was playing (in the late 1960s), that was big. Back in those days, a 250-pounder was really big. It's changed quite a bit. (Deas, Tom. Oct 17, 2013.) ..."

The top five offensive tackles drafted this year, 2014, are:
1. Greg Robinson, 6-5, 332 lbs, Auburn
2. Jake Matthews, 6-5, 308 lbs, Texas AandM
3. Taylor Lewan, 6-7, 309 lbs, Michigan
4. Zack Martin, 6-4, 308 lbs, Notre Dame
5. Cyrus Kouandjio, 6-6, 322, Alabama (Chris Fedor. May 05, 2014. LINK)

CONCLUSION
Science is needed here. How can a 6 and a half foot, 300-plus pound man run a forty yard dash in 4.5 seconds? Then repeat it, say, 60 seconds later? And keep repeating that for an hour?

The NFL uses large linemen to protect quarterbacks from large defensive linemen rushing into the offensive backfield. "...The size of offensive linemen began to change when the rules changed. In the 1970s, college football rules were altered to allow linemen to use their hands – what Alabama's late, legendary coach, Paul. W. "Bear" Bryant called "legalized holding." Previously, offensive linemen had to keep their hands in toward the middle of their jerseys, with their elbows extended, when blocking. (ibid. Tommy Deas. The Tuscaloosa News. October 17, 2013)..."

Someday there will be pauses in the football games occurring while larger-than-life linemen exchange liability insurance information for the collisions they cause on the playing field.

LBDA :: The "Large Big Dumb Animal"
on your Random dial, at your service

Celebrating Nov 2006 to Jul 2009 -- Completion of 32 Months of Not-for-profit Journalism and Plagiarism
by Pat Darnell with Compostholestoy

USDA Approved Web Log

Edible in all U.S. of A. Continental States

We, MooPig, regale our 32 month long adventure because it has fulfilled a charter goal of our chartered-ness way back in our charter months starting November 2006. One goal down, 12 to go.

GOAL # 1: Provide a better social network for moopigsters internationally... sublimated or otherwise...

For decades, we feral moopigsters had been charting our friends' and relations' as most Americans do, with phone calls, Christmas cards and occasional waking from zombie comas to send intermittent Howdy Salutations to cherished friends. Social networking hit drought conditions as communication flowed a dismal trickle. Out of sight; out of mind -- To remember birthdays, christenings, graduations, of our friends precious children, nieces, and nephews, uncles, aunts or cousins.

One in-particular Palikir -- part of the now bona-fide MooPig Family, Compostholestoy -- had embarked unwillingly on an odyssey in months before MooPig Wisdom blogspot dot com.

In essence, with all deference to Compost'y's privacy, he had lost his mate, and was in throes of ambiguity. His once iconic life of four seasons was interrupted by tornadic climate change, and I did not like the fact that I, MooPig da Furst was a thousand miles away -- Compost'y in Michigan, I in Texas.

Because we are opposites in temperaments, and body types, we get along famously ever since college years, remaining great friends. [Witness? I think I can get a amen on that one]

When C's stormy weather began, traveling to an from Michigan was hopeless, near impossible. You see, we both had teenagers and t'ween-agers in both our family folds at the time, forcing priorities to rule our days, sans travel.

So, I said to myself, "Self: Is there any way to be more constant in my communication with friends and relations, today in modern microcosm of social internet?"

Self said back, "Sure as Hell is, you docile, old-brain, dying, large-big-dumb-human-animal! It is staring you in the FACE."

Still I pondered until I realized I must ask more precise, detailed, questions: "Self, does it involve typing?"

"Uhh, yeah, ya' knucklehead," said Self. Low and Behold and Behooved -- the family of MooPig Stuff was born.

Wah Laaaa.... many have made it difficult for this cultish web log activity to continue, there are many who think it is the usual Devil's workshop, for instance... but the needles pricked only to pull threads of undying wisdom through the fabric of our relations.

It turned out, one omni-sonic day, this communication came in from my Love-Struck Comrade in Michigan... after he had determined that MooPig's heart was really into the outcome of his dilemma, via subliminal conversations that exist in-between all the lines of my plagiaristic, yet dominated by zeal -- to blot my companions and their world with long-suffering, kind-patient, deep-understanding information.

##################### from Compostholestoy -- who found new love to cherish and hold onto -- he introduced STELLA:

STELLA-A-A! ! ! ! I could'a been your contender!

Moopig, one of your own has a screaming hole in the heart and needs a place to vent it. IS THIS THE PLACE?! We are manly, yes. And intelligent to beat the band, goes without saying.

Politically astute !? What a perfect world if they would listen to what we have to say.

But here today I blog-challenge us to tread carefully but courageously into the "heart-land".

Love requited but forbidden is my beef.

I can not see STELLA, but I can Moopig her to the universe and let go of the angst. You space aliens listening in! and I know you are studying Moopig in preparation for your imminent invasion (boy are you in for a surprise...)

You aliens, please capture my scream and project it to the outer reaches of the dada-sphere so that every star knows about the black hole of lost love on planet 3 of star system 138, sector 9 of the Uppity Realm of the Andromeda Riviera.

MooPig Horse Bits :: "Eating Horse - A Modest Proposal"

Scooped by Pat Darnell  |  Feb 27, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

In our quest to be clever in the face of bombast, MooPig has recently stumbled upon a situation. Europeans have been mixing horse meat with their beef and selling it to the public to eat. And much of the horse meat comes from exported American horses.

We may be opening Pandora's lunchbox here, as beef shortages are reported, that Americans might have to start eating some horse themselves. Be warned.

What we are warning about is that Monsanto might have already purchased all the patents and copy rights on all horse meat. Yes, they are usually way ahead of the curve when it comes to malnutrition. Can horses be the new genetically modified meat source? And, when that source is depleted, what is next?
Jonathan Swift - A Modest Proposal: "”I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled, and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout. ...”"
Are nations looking for easy answers to complex problems? You bet they are. It's a classic tale, feed the poor with the poor, feed the rich with the poor... it's the circle of the rich, for the rich, by the rich.
I grant this food will be somewhat dear, and therefore very proper for landlords, who, as they have already devoured most of the parents, seem to have the best title to the children. (Jonathan Swift (1667-1745). LINK)

NEXT WEEK  :: The next big thing -- Australians are about to discover that they've been eating a combination of emu, roo, and lamb as "beef" for years -- which probably explains why Australian life expectancy is so much better than American, British or Canadian life expectancy. Eh?

MooPig Report from the Middle :: "That year Reagan formally switched to the Republican Party"

What is the Middle Anyway?
by Pat Darnell  |  July 2, 2011  |  Bryan TX

[IMAGE: File:1960prescountymap2.PNG] 1960 Election Results by County
EXCERPT  |  " ...In recent years, the South has operated both as a blessing and a burden for the GOP. The region, defined as the 11 states of the Old Confederacy plus Oklahoma and Kentucky, has become the cornerstone of the Republican electoral coalition. Yet as the GOP has become dominant across Dixie, and more closely identified with its uncompromising brand of social and economic conservatism, it has struggled in other regions, especially during the Bush era. (Brownstein, Ronald. June 29, 2011. LINK )... "
" ... After all, Perry, who visited Southern California this week as he explores the race, is a big-state executive with a strong economic record and hard-edged fiscal and social views attractive to the party’s most energetic grassroots conservatives. “He checks so many boxes,” says Mark McKinnon, an Austin-based Republican consultant. ... "

Unfortunately, at this time Governor Rick Perry, Republican from Texas, somehow represents the Middle that MooPig so loves to tout. Today we try to define that Middle; but not favorably to Perry type hype.

The Middle wasn't always so conservative. Texas was totally Democratic in the elections of Kennedy and LBJ. Of course, and that was a "liberal" Democratic group. Somehow the Middle still meanders about like it has jet lag from those events of election of JFK and eventual murder of JFK. The Middle resonates with lawlessness, bigotry, and seldom has time to resolve national issues.
Kennedy asked Johnson to be his Vice Presidential candidate, despite opposition from many liberal delegates and Kennedy's own staff, including brother Robert. He needed Johnson's strength in the South to win [LINK] ... "
In the Middle, it is two ideologies colliding: how to train a large big dumb animal, like a horse. Two extreme ideals take front stage. 1) You whip the beast into submission, and therefore train him for riding; 2) or, you horse-whisper the beast using its various quirks to train it into a riding horse, without beatings.

Texas has a unique position as anchor to the Middle. That is because Illinois is the buoy of the Middle. Midwesterner ideals came from Big Shoulders of liberal Democrats, and conservation of methodology of those values beloved to Illinois. Remember "His Honor the Mare" Richard J. Daley -- 1902 - 1976? Democrat mayor of Chicago for two decades. He was an only child, was born in 1902 into an Irish catholic neighborhood of south Chicago. He went to Catholic elementary school.

One wonders what school of hard knocks old mayor Daley came from. I am sure he was whipped into shape like many of his era. Spare the whip, spoil the child? You tell me which is the best meaning of those words. Some may not know but his son and namesake was mayor for decades after his father moved on, "His Honor the Mare" Richard M. Daley.

Switching now to the other lush, unwieldy, state -- California. What a mess. California is full of Texans. Born in Texas, young people migrated to the west coast for decades, especially in the 60's. It is similar to Illinois born people who migrate to Texas and Florida. But is California part of the Middle?
California Republicans were impressed with Reagan's political views and charisma after his "Time for Choosing" speech, and nominated him for Governor of California in 1966. [LINK] In Reagan's campaign, he emphasized two main themes: "to send the welfare bums back to work," and in reference to burgeoning anti-war and anti-establishment student protests at the University of California at Berkeley, "to clean up the mess at Berkeley."[LINK] He was elected, defeating two-term governor Edmund G. "Pat" Brown, and was sworn in on January 2, 1967. In his first term, he froze government hiring and approved tax hikes to balance the budget.
Reagan defines the Middle. By now Reagan was a Republican, "Reagan began his political career as a liberal Democrat, admirer of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and active supporter of New Deal policies, but in the early 1950s, ... he shifted to the right and, while remaining a Democrat, endorsed the presidential candidacies of Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952 and 1956 as well as Richard Nixon in 1960 ... " in 1962.[LINK] That year Reagan formally switched to the Republican Party, stating, "I didn't leave the Democratic Party. The party left me." ... "

Reagan opposed certain civil rights legislation, saying "If an individual wants to discriminate against Negroes or others in selling or renting his house, it is his right to do so". (Kyle Longley Deconstructing Reagan: conservative mythology and America's fortieth president, M.E. Sharpe, 2007 ISBN 0-7656-1590-8 p. 76. [LINK]) He later reversed his opposition to voting rights and fair housing laws. He strongly denied having racist motives. [LINK]
June 7, 2004 – Roger Wilkins commented on Reagan's Jefferson Davis remark. Wilkins also said the following: "I had one extraordinary conversation with him in which he called me to tell me he wasn't a racist because I had attacked his South Africa policy in a newspaper column and he was very disturbed by the implication that this had any... he spent 30 minutes on the telephone trying to convince me about it, and talked about how he had played football with black guys in high school and college in order to try to make that point."

Conclusion
So to summarize this, the Middle today is neither all Republican or all Democrat. The Middle includes California, after JFK\LBJ elections -- and Illinois, Midwesterner ideals, along with the "Confederacy."

The Middle is two-faced, and uses either of two arguments, depending on who they are talking to. Rick Perry unfortunately has gone bi-coastal now, and will suffer immensely if he chooses to spew the whipped horse speeches. By the way, he is a surrogate Governor, acting in place of "W" when "W" left office of governor open. Most Texans say "Rick Who?"

Ronald Reagan set in motion his whipping post model for the Middle, and has been the "impossible" act-to-follow for other want-to-be political leaders, for a generation and a half.

Some may say, the Middle is not worthy. That is understatement. The Middle includes all those who believe in the "common good," as long as that does not interrupt nor interfere in their lives. Therefore it boils down to the "Middle" and then the "Others." The Middle resonates with lawlessness, bigotry, and seldom has time to resolve national issues.

In 1960 the Middle mostly was won by JFK with LBJ, Democrats 303 electoral votes to 219 for Nixon.

That's MooPig Report from the Middle, where it would be nice if we had some rain -- the men all have good hair, the women are exceedingly strong, and the children have hats that don't blow off in the wind.

Attention Ignaries: The XLII SuperBowl will actually be played this Weekend... as far as I'm concerned

LBDA aside, Giants will come down the Beanstalk this weekend:
OOPs, wrong giants......

Giants and Packers may very well not be personified names of animals like Lion, Bear, Penguin or Sperm Whale...
-But-

...they are mythical names of consumers and patrons of large big dumb animals, LBDA, industries.

"We are not picking teams; We are picking a game," says MooPig. "And we feel the game is Bay against York!"

This weekend I and the Pig are anticipating the SuperBowl LXII pregame between Packers and Giants to be the only game worth watching for the year. Favre versus Manning; Old man being challenged by the younger bucker.

Mythical encounters of the correct kind..... Giants versus the Packers: "Yes, we will be throwing the pigskin all day," said both Quarterbacks.

There... this is a better picture, and tastier:
As the... "usual sixty-eight or so meat-packers will have butchered hogs and salted the meat to feed to the army. Rock Island's federal arsenal supplied ammunition. [Before] the [game] the meatpackers, including [descendants of ] Phillip Armour and Gustavus Swift, who developed the Chicago Union Stockyards, ...using Chicago's railroad network, shipped cattle from western pastures, butchered the animals at their stockyards, and then sent the meat nationwide in refrigerated railroad cars." All shipped via the Northwestern to Lambeau Field, for this stadium-packed one-in-a- life-time standoff between old and young. Hog and Giant; Lamb and Cyclops --

Besides January 27 --
A Day in Super Bowl History -- Ouch!!!
On this date 16 years ago, the NYGiants beat the Buffalo Bills 20-19 in the Super Bowl. Giants' coach Bill Parcells summarized his game plan this way after the game: "Power wins." http://www.isthatlegal.org/archives/2007/01/

Huh? Most of today must be random day. Get your Moink-joink going.

I can't even tell you names for the teams in the other playoffs for the other conference. 'Scuse while I google that info. OOP's: again couldn't fine that info, but I did find this: thegurglingcod.typepad.com "They say that cheese is milk's leap towards immortality. What that tells us about the cheese bra, I do not know. I don't really know how to unpack this, but considering it exists at the intersection of food and sports, I feel a duty to share it. Just the thing to wear to a viewing of a painstakingly restored VHS of SB XXXI highlights," said the gurgling cod.

BRIE--NG it on!! Whey me down wid' it.
- and -

"17th Century Presybyterians say the darndest things
You wonder why some words fall out of favor. Came across one yesterday that is overdue for a revival: "Ignaries." It means "ill-informed persons." Viz: "The ignaries on television called the governor a man of integrity." A tip of the fin to Robert Baillie for bringing this word to my attention, and generally bringing the Glaswegian, won't find it in no OED ruckus. Out there in Codland--use it three times today in a sentence."

This will be MooPig Kind of Day at Lambeau, a dream come true: "We are excited! The Big Apple giants could get Packed, or the Cheese could get spread all over the kettle moraine," says the symbiotes.

"So, Ignaries: forget the rest and this weekend watch the Best! Because We are MooPig and you're not."

Besides, this could be you:
A Packer fan was enjoying himself at the game in a packed Lambeau Field, until he noticed an empty seat down in front.
He went down and asked the guy next to it if he knew whose seat it was.
The guy said, "Yes, that's my wife's seat; you know the cheese-bra lady? We have never missed a game since the Lombardi days, but now alas, my wife is dead."
The fan offered his sympathy and said it was really too bad he couldn't find some relative to give the ticket to and enjoy the game together.
"Oh no," the husband said, "they're all at the funeral."

We are all so going to miss the Cheese-bra Lady!!>MooPig/pd/final draft
