MooPig Brain Industries Department :: "Acceptance and Commitment Therapy -- ACT"

[Picture LINK unknown]

Empirical Status for ACT
Re-directed Articles by Pat Darnell  |  Mar 19, 2015  |  Bryan TX

Thanks to John Franks who posted about ACT on faceBook. Say you have a pet Narwhal, and it never seems to be happy in your pet palace you built for him. As he suffers, you also suffer, and things get all confused.

I think we may be on to something. ACT is a therapy that is being used in cases of PTSD. When my Dad was in his final days, he was at the VA Hospital, checked in for lots of old age ailments. His suffering was not pretty, nor quiet. I in fact suffer PTSD from his agonizing final journey. He used to say he had so many pains he couldn't count that high, and one of the results was that he would lash out at me, or whoever, was with him. He didn't mean it, it just happened. Communication broke down, and I couldn't get him what he needed to overcome his death rattle. He was hurting and what he said to me hurt. I absorbed his trauma.

But it was not a physical hurt, you know what I mean? But I as his son felt like I wanted to escape any of his criticisms of me during that episode. Escapism has been my whole life long journey, now that I have my father's death as a fixed point in time, maybe I don't have to escape anymore.

ACT | Association for Contextual Behavioral Science: "Developed within a coherent theoretical and philosophical framework, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a unique empirically based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior change strategies, to increase psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility means contacting the present moment fully as a conscious human being, and based on what the situation affords, changing or persisting in behavior in the service of chosen values."

"...Buttressed by an extensive basic research program on a associated theory of language and cognition, Relational Frame Theory (RFT), ACT takes the view that trying to change difficult thoughts and feelings as a means of coping can be counter productive, but new, powerful alternatives are available, including acceptance, mindfulness, cognitive defusion, values, and committed action..."
CONCLUSION
I need this therapy.

MooPig After the Fact Department :: "Government Furloughs Then and Now"

Government Shutdowns are Meaningless
Mashed articles by Pat Darnell  |  Apr 6, 2014  |  Bryan TX

We were mildly concerned last time we had a Federal Government shutdown and workers were furloughed. Our lack of concern is, after the fact, warranted.

Percentage of essential federal employees in 1996 vs. 2013.: "After the 1995-'96 government shutdown, the Congressional Research Service detailed (PDF) how many employees at different agencies had been furloughed. The employees who were "excepted" from furlough would now be considered "essential" federal employees (Emma Roller. SEPT. 30 2013. LINK)..."

'via Blog this'

CONCLUSION
Despite all the furlough hoopla, essential workers stayed on the job as "non-pay status workers." Government shutdown is nothing more than hat trick that bombastic politician hucksters have learned to use, when they are bored with everyday life. It happens when a bunch of congress persons need to call in a bunch of favors.

The preoccupation of Congress members with "size of government" bears no meaning in today's world. Government has its fingers in every business, every worker's pocket, and in every service. Just like banks, Government interrupts "perceived progress," with their funny rules, fees, regulations, and taxes. If you deal directly with the government you might make a profit, or break even in your business, but you as a contractor, are you a worker who could be furloughed? Who the hell knows! Thanks Ted Cruz, you are the modern poster child of PUTZ-dom.

Concerning the Chart above -- " ... This isn't a comprehensive list of agencies, for a variety of reasons. Some agencies, like Homeland Security, didn't exist in 1996. Others were incorporated piecemeal into new agencies. And not all agencies have said exactly how many of their workers will be furloughed [in the future]. (ibid. Roller) ..."

MooPig Ads Council :: SEO Theory "Creativity is King"

Retrieved by Pat Darnell | Nov 4, 2012 | Bryan TX

This is what you creative types do 'naturally' ... that is, you construct your web spaces with intuitive processes that can not be quantified. When you read about SEO Theory, you say to yourselves 'I do that already!' Yet, it is good to look into optimization, and see your own machinations as they move through servers.

This article helps one to feel justified in his or her zeal to create on the internet.

[Picture LINK]
" ... The buildup and falloff in queries, content, and links defines a wave-like pattern if you graph it. The queries start first. The content starts second. The links start third. Content and links tend to peak after queries peak. Links tend to peak before content peaks (I think because late-comers create content that doesn’t generate any buzz or interest among other content creators). (October 30, 2007. By Michael Martinez. HERE) ... "
The Theorem of Query Space Optimization | SEO Theory:
EXCERPT  |  " ... You don’t have to know what the average amount of traffic is for all query spaces. You only need to know what a query space’s average traffic was for the past two years. If you see a decline in traffic then you know the query space is degenerating. If you see peaks and valleys where the peaks seem to about the same you’re looking at a mature query space that is still productive. If you see an increase in traffic over the past two years then you’re looking at a young query space.

" ... A query space is coherent as long as it produces relevant results. A query space’s coherence degenerates as traffic declines and/or as relevant content declines. That is, spam can kill a query space by making the query space less useful or productive for searchers.
'via Blog this'

" ... Hence, the Theorem of Query Space Optimization tells us that queries remain productive only as long as there is search interest in them, and only as long as relevant content is promoted for those query spaces. In other words, a query space exists only as long as there is interesting content populating the query space, which means that a query space can actually become self-sustaining if and only if the query space produces continually new and interesting content.

" ... In short, creativity is king. (HERE) ..."
