Government Shutdowns are Meaningless
Mashed articles by Pat Darnell | Apr 6, 2014 | Bryan TX
We were mildly concerned last time we had a Federal Government shutdown and workers were furloughed. Our lack of concern is, after the fact, warranted.
Percentage of essential federal employees in 1996 vs. 2013.: "After the 1995-'96 government shutdown, the Congressional Research Service detailed (PDF) how many employees at different agencies had been furloughed. The employees who were "excepted" from furlough would now be considered "essential" federal employees (Emma Roller. SEPT. 30 2013. LINK)..."
'via Blog this'
CONCLUSION
Despite all the furlough hoopla, essential workers stayed on the job as "non-pay status workers." Government shutdown is nothing more than hat trick that bombastic politician hucksters have learned to use, when they are bored with everyday life. It happens when a bunch of congress persons need to call in a bunch of favors.
The preoccupation of Congress members with "size of government" bears no meaning in today's world. Government has its fingers in every business, every worker's pocket, and in every service. Just like banks, Government interrupts "perceived progress," with their funny rules, fees, regulations, and taxes. If you deal directly with the government you might make a profit, or break even in your business, but you as a contractor, are you a worker who could be furloughed? Who the hell knows! Thanks Ted Cruz, you are the modern poster child of PUTZ-dom.
Concerning the Chart above -- " ... This isn't a comprehensive list of agencies, for a variety of reasons. Some agencies, like Homeland Security, didn't exist in 1996. Others were incorporated piecemeal into new agencies. And not all agencies have said exactly how many of their workers will be furloughed [in the future]. (ibid. Roller) ..."

MooPig Government Regulations Department :: "What doesn't FDA regulate?
Transparency in the FDA
mashed articles by Pat Darnell | Dec 29, 2013 | Bryan TX
[Picture LINK unknown]
I am doing the right thing this morning. I am sorting through the FDA Gov site, and trying to wrap my mind around it.
Everything today seems like it is a Federal Case. We at MooPig Government Regulations Department are inundated with reports by whistle-blowers from within Government Regulatory Offices. Who to believe? Where do we draw the line to the cynicism that all this mess causes, until the American people just throw their hands up in surrender?
This is a good question. Our FDA does not regulate everything you think it would.
FDA Basics :: What doesn’t FDA regulate? How do I contact the agencies that do?: "What doesn't FDA regulate? How do I contact the agencies that do?
FDA does not regulate:
Let's look at one product line, shall we? Advertising in Tobacco. From FDA Transparency files we have this slide show:
CONCLUSION
It's a mess. I could spend a whole school term on this FDA web site. What stands out is their commitment to transparency. However, I cannot find any tidbits concerning "in-house whistle-blowers at the FDA." For those we must travel Google source maps, such as Former FDA reviewer speaks out about intimidation, retaliation and marginalizing of safety (By Martha Rosenberg Posted on August 22, 2012).

- advertising (except for prescription drugs, medical devices, and tobacco products)
- some consumer products, such as paint, child-resistant packages, baby toys, and household appliances (except for those that give off radiation)
- illegal drugs of abuse, such as heroin and marijuana
- health insurance meat and poultry (except for game meats, such as venison, ostrich, and snake)
- restaurants and grocery stores
- vaccines for infectious animal diseases
- pesticides (FDA, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Environmental Protection Agency regulate these)
- water (FDA regulates the labeling and safety of bottled water, while the Environmental Protection Agency develops national standards for drinking water from municipal water supplies)"
Let's look at one product line, shall we? Advertising in Tobacco. From FDA Transparency files we have this slide show:
Tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death and disease in the U.S.
- Tobacco dependence is a life-threatening condition There are 45 million smokers in the
- U.S. and 440,000 people die every year Each day in the United States
Are you already bored with bullet presentations? I am. Let's push on:
- 3,600 kids under 18 years of age smoke their first cigarette, and over 700 kids become regular smokers (Slide 3)
FDA’s ability to enact science-based regulation has the true potential to reduce the death and disease toll from the most harmful products
- A main goal is to have a country free of tobacco related disease and death
- Passage of the Tobacco Control Act means that FDA has many tools to help meet that goal
- FDA regulates an extremely addictive and toxic product
- But people smoke for the nicotine while dying from the tar
- Ongoing debate about how to regulate products based upon where they fit on a “continuum of risk” given their toxicities and how they are used (Slide 12)
" ... The agency, [FDA], using so-called spy software designed to help employers monitor workers, captured screen images from the government laptops of the five scientists as they were being used at work or at home. The software tracked their keystrokes, intercepted their personal e-mails, copied the documents on their personal thumb drives and even followed their messages line by line as they were being drafted, the documents show. (ERIC LICHTBLAU and SCOTT SHANE. Published: July 14, 2012. LINK ) ..."For instnace: looking for guidance on the fda.gov site is going to be a tough search for anyone trying to figure out how to guard against youth using tobacco products. Smokers' smoke for the nicotine, and die from the tar, that is a fact. But, does transparency refer to this type of searching, or to its internal investigations of its employees and their governmental contacts all over the world?
" ... Government agencies cannot discourage whistle-blowing and reporting of wrongdoing by monitoring employees, echoed a White House memo sent to all government agencies about the FDA spy program. (ibid. Martha Rosenberg. LINK ) ... "

MooPig Health and Human Re-Sources Department :: "The ACA"
Here it is for your Reading Enjoyment
snagged by Pat Darnell | Oct 22, 2013 | Bryan TX
'via Blog this'
It is 907 pages long. You will never read it, probably, you might flip through it.. but many will not ever go to this page online and see what it is. The Affordable Care Act, ACA, is like any government act in that it goes through many stages to become a law. First, it must be read, no?
[Picture LINK]
Maybe if we posted the pages of our ACA on walls of buildings and on lampposts, people would read it. That's it, ACA has no street credit:
Insurance companies have read it, or at least their in-house lawyers have. " ... Insurance providers are reporting cancellations. The Entertainment Industry Group Insurance Trust (TEIGIT) website posts the following notice: “All individual and/or Sole Proprietor Health Insurance will terminate January 1, 2014. This includes plans acquired as Members of our Affiliated Associations and their groups.” Those affiliated associations include the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, the Dramatists Guild, the Graphic Arts Guild, NY Women in Film and Television, and many others. (BEN SCHACHTER. Tuesday, September 9, 2013. LINK)..."
CONCLUSION
Collusion between insurance companies and health care providers, that is, between doctors and lawyers, has been interrupted. ACA will take the middle man out of the picture, maybe.
To most of us middle Americans and lower earning Americans Health Care has been un-affordable all our natural born lives. Probably, under ACA rules, some people who never even had healthcare will now receive some, and the rich will go ahead with self-insured models. For the middle class it will be business as usual.

MooPig Government Shutdown Department :: Republicans Owe Us 24 Billion Dollars Plus for the Government Shutdown
DEFCON 2 -- You want Ted Cruz in charge of the Red Phone?
Mashed articles by Pat Darnell | OCT 18, 2013 | Bryan TX

They spend money like a Houston socialite in Filene's Basement. They are the real "THEY." When you say THEY it is these people and their entourages. They see a pile of dough and they get all sweaty.
Republicans Owe Us 24 Billion Dollars Plus for the Government Shutdown: "As some points, the media is going to have to start calling Republicans out on their end goal. Let’s see. They get nothing… So what is the goal?
The result is the economy is harmed and America’s credit is dinged and we are a laughing stock. If those are the results and the GOP keeps doing it, at some point, we have to admit that those results ARE THE GOAL. That means that destroying America’s reputation, credit and economy are the goals of these Republicans, and the non-Tea Party Republicans haven’t the back to stand up to them, so the entire party is operating in service of the destruction of the country.
Last night, Nancy Pelosi saved the country again, bringing her entire caucus to vote yes to save the country from the GOP, while the GOP majority in the House sat on their hands, with 144 of them voting no on saving the country from default."

Draw your own conclusions. Too bad these Hucksters can't be fired. It takes an election cycle and millions more of dollars for campaigns to get rid of them.

Government Shutdown: 9 Million Moms And Babies At Risk As WIC Program Halts - Forbes: "The government shutdown may be keeping National Parks closed and furloughed federal workers at home, but worse real-world effects could soon be felt by low-income mothers and their infants — already a marginalized group with unstable food supplies."

October 1, 2013 -- "Lines in the sand have been drawn: Senate Democrats and the president won’t accept changes to Obamacare as part of a government funding deal, and House Republicans are refusing to pass anything that doesn't give them some concessions on the health care law they've been fighting since taking over the majority. (Kate Nocera and Evan McMorris-Santoro BuzzFeed Staff. October 1, 2013. LINK) ..."
U.S. Service Academies Prepare For Government Shutdown: "Administrators and faculty at the five United States service academies are bracing themselves for the impending government shutdown, which stands to disrupt the education of thousands of cadets and midshipmen across the country. Mandatory across-the-board spending cuts imposed by sequestration have already taken a toll on the academies so far this year, forcing cutbacks to student services, extracurricular activities, and, in the case of the Naval Academy, classes."

In our Military -- “USNA has an approximate 50/50 military to civilian instructor ratio and there will be circumstances where military instructors are not able to substitute for civilian professors in the classroom,” Erickson said in an emailed statement. Arabic and Chinese language classes will be canceled, as will chemistry, engineering and physics laboratories. As far as other classes taught by civilians, Erickson explained, “Many instructors were able to pre-package 4-5 days’ worth of classes in order for one of their military counterparts within the department to substitute and instruct the class in the event of the government shutdown. (September 30, 2013. Ellie Hall. LINK) ... ”
CONCLUSION
It’s an outrage that they are playing these types of games with the American people. And I think at the end of the day [Boehner and Cruz] will rue this day because they side with a minority in their caucus and Boehner is not running the House. A minority is.
SUMMARY
This Sunday morning, Tailgunner Ted Cruz went on CNN’s State of the Union to give his take on why it’s OK to hold the United States hostage. Cruz’s ship has been sinking for weeks now, but even weighed down with a billion tons of political self-interest, he plunges boldly ahead into waters that, according to him, aren’t exactly uncharted. According to him, taking hostages is just business as usual — and sad to say, these days, isn’t completely wrong. Ted Cruz Thinks Extortion is Politics as Usual in D.C.
But, cite all the historical precedent you want, Ted … what your little group of terrorists are doing is NOT what we do in America. But, don’t worry, Ted … you may sink, but your legacy is secure. Because if there’s one thing America loves to say about terrorists, it’s this … We will never forget.

Web definitions
The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is an American labor union representing over 600,000 employees of the federal government, about 5,000 employees of the District of Columbia, and a few hundred private sector employees, mostly in and around federal facilities. ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFGE ...
CONCLUSION
Enemies of the USA attack from within our government and from outside it. Anyone who thinks they can do better somewhere else should go there. I think that Washington DC has become indefensible, and it is a great risk to have all the federal government in one place so close to the coast. Therefore the federal government should be housed in a metal building somewhere in Utah. And all the officials should attend by video conference. They could just ride around in automobiles tricked out for transmitting and receiving and attend mobile-like with the Speaker of the House actually a 'Bot -- Speaker of the House-bot ...
SUMMARY
Plutocrats close down the US government and all its contractors for no apparent reason. But it is interesting watching the developments from this shutdown. For instance, the George W Bush library is closed to all its one visitor and three workers. Now that is a total shame.

" ... A HuffPost/YouGov poll released Saturday shows that both parties are facing blame for the government shutdown, which stretched into its fifth day. According to the survey, 25 percent of Americans see Republicans and Democrats as being equally at fault. On party lines, 36 percent point a finger squarely at Republicans and 33 percent place more blame on President Barack Obama and the Democrats. ( Chris Gentilviso. House Republicans are standing against poor working people and standing for plutocratic corporations and transnationals. President Obama stands for anything that can keep him from being assassinated.

“Significant amounts of work that should be reserved for federal employee performance are now performed by contractors because the current definition of inherently governmental is narrow, unclear, and unenforced,” said Mark Whetstone, President of the AFGE National Citizenship and Immigration Services Council. “In striving to retain in their agencies important and sensitive functions, some managers have tried to compensate for the narrowness of the existing definition by employing weaker designations—closely associated with inherently governmental, critical, core, etc.—to protect from outsourcing pressures functions that may not meet the statutory definition but should still be performed in-house. However, these efforts have left the definition even more unclear. And, of course, even a robust and crystal-clear definition is meaningless if it is not enforced. (AFGE, Christina Erling. May 20, 2010. LINK)”

MooPig Financial Trends :: "Bank Subsidies"
Government Cheese
Re-fashioned by Pat Darnell | June 29, 2013 | Bryan TX
"This is a clear case of socialism for the rich, -- and rugged, you're-on-your-own individualism for everyone else." (Bernie Sanders) [Picture/MEME from faceBook]
Why Should Taxpayers Give Big Banks $83 Billion a Year? - Bloomberg: "So what if we told you that, by our calculations, the largest U.S. banks aren't really profitable at all? What if the billions of dollars they allegedly earn for their shareholders were almost entirely a gift from U.S. taxpayers?"
'via Blog this'
On television, in interviews and in meetings with investors, executives of the biggest U.S. banks -- notably JPMorgan Chase and Co. Chief Executive Jamie Dimon -- make the case that size is a competitive advantage. It helps them lower costs and vie for customers on an international scale. Limiting it, they warn, would impair profitability and weaken the country’s position in global finance.
In June 2011 Bernie Sanders and crew audited for the first time ever "from top to bottom" the Federal Reserve. It revealed that $16 trillion was provided by American banks, during the greatest economic failure since the Great Depression. The trillions were used to bail out "American and foreign, banks and businesses.
For example:
If the Federal Reserve Bank were a mouth, it would be chock full of cavities. Deep, dark, secret caves exist in our financial system.
"Neither bank executives nor shareholders have much incentive to change the situation. On the contrary, the financial industry spends hundreds of millions of dollars every election cycle on campaign donations and lobbying, much of which is aimed at maintaining the subsidy. The result is a bloated financial sector and recurring credit gluts. Left unchecked, the superbanks could ultimately require bailouts that exceed the government’s resources. Picture a meltdown in which the Treasury is helpless to step in as it did in 2008 and 2009. (By the Editors. Feb 20, 2013. LINK and LINK) ... "
NEXT WEEK :: The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 is scheduled to expire at midnight December 31, 2013. It's renewal needs to be stopped.

MooPig Site Review :: Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!
This Generation
Co-opted by Pat Darnell | Mar 13, 2013 | Bryan TX
[Picture LINK]
MooPig Site Reviews are little more than glimpses at what is happening on other pages throughout the online kingdom. Believe you me, there is a lot going on!
We focused on this new Cheney stuff, because this is where we catch up with the man, Alex Jones. As Americans all, our troubles only started the day Rumsfeld, Cheney, and Dubya came to Washington. The clandestine operations of Cheney alone have far reaching, and deadly, consequences.
If laws are being written in our Congress today, based on what Cheney manufactured in his many lies, we all inherit his deleterious excrement.
Alex Jones comes on very strong in his radio presentation, and in his overall take on government in the USA. For reals, we at MooPig Enterprises want to believe what he says. But some others in their reviews of Alex Jones InfoWars have alluded to his mission might be CIA sponsored, to which we say, wasn't 9/11 also CIA sponsored? For an opinion on Alex Jones as a conspirator, See: The Mollygate Alex Jones Stratfor Scandal, [LINK].
That is the drama we experience daily in our blogging adventure. Some one tells us about Alex Jones, he goes on TV and slams Piers Morgan [LINK], and, we catch up with Alex Jones's updating his list on Cheney's oblique, sideways walk through his pitiful life.
» Cheney Admits that He Lied about 9/11 Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!: "In a documentary soon to appear on Showtime, “The World According to Dick Cheney,” [Cheney said] “I got on the telephone with the president, who was in Florida, and told him not to be at one location where we could both be taken out.”
Mr. Cheney kept W. flying aimlessly in the air on 9/11 while he and Lynn left on a helicopter for a secure undisclosed location, leaving Washington in a bleak, scared silence, with no one reassuring the nation in those first terrifying hours."
'via Blog this'
From the InfoWars Site: "Cheney lied about numerous other facts related to 9/11 as well. For example, Cheney:
-Falsely linked Iraq with 9/11 (indeed, the entire torture program was aimed at establishing such a false linkage; and Cheney is the guy who pushed for torture, pressured the Justice Department lawyers to write memos saying torture was legal, and made the pitch to Congress justifying torture. the former director of the CIA said Cheney of overseeing American torture policies)
-Falsely claimed that spying on Americans, torture, the Patriot Act, the Afghanistan war, the Iraq war and the “war on terror” were all necessitated by 9/11 … when none of it was true
-Falsely stated that an attack such as 9/11 was unforeseeable, when Al Qaeda flying planes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon was something which American military and intelligence services – and our allies – knew could happen
-Falsely pretended that he was out of the loop during the 9/11 attacks
-Falsely blamed others for 9/11, when Cheney was in charge of all of America’s counter-terrorism exercises, activities and responses on 9/11. See this Department of State announcement and this CNN article …
-… And when Cheney was apparently responsible for letting the Pentagon get hit by an airplane(confirmed here and here)
-And was instrumental in squashing a real investigation into 9/11"

EXCERPT | " ... Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., whose Northern Virginia district is home to tens of thousands of federal workers and contractors, expects agencies to issue at least 900,000 furloughs if a budget deal is not worked out by 11:59 p.m. on Friday.
A senior administration official pegged the expected furlough total at closer to 800,000 -- roughly the same number issued during the 1995 government shutdown. But during that shutdown, the Defense Department was exempt from furloughs because Congress already had passed the Pentagon's appropriations bill. If the government stops operations this week, civilian Defense officials will not be spared, the official said. ... (Robert Brodsky. April 6, 2011. LINK)"
