MooPig Memo Department :: "The Historical Powell Memorandum"

[Picture LINK]

In this Era of Secret Emails: Remember the Secret Memorandum?
Matriculated articles mashed by Pat Darnell  |  Oct 27, 2015  |  Bryan TX

"A Memo to explain American economic system under attack," yes, that is the opening to the Powell Manifesto. Powell's assumption that there is an American Economic System should be the preamble to Powell's ramble. The American financial System is basically a "Boom/Bust" cycle that repeats ad nauseam. Is that a secure system?

Powell Memo also known as the Powell Manifesto or Powell Memorandum: Found in the Memo:  ..."Perhaps the single most effective antagonist of American business is Ralph Nader, who — thanks largely to the media — has become a legend in his own time and an idol of millions of Americans. A recent article in Fortune speaks of Nader as follows: “The passion that rules in him — and he is a passionate man — is aimed at smashing utterly the target of his hatred, which is corporate power. He thinks, and says quite bluntly, that a great many corporate executives belong in prison — for defrauding the consumer with shoddy merchandise, poisoning the food supply with chemical additives, and willfully manufacturing unsafe products that will maim or kill the buyer. He emphasizes that he is not talking just about ‘fly-by-night hucksters’ but the top management of blue chip business."... (EGBERTO WILLIES. DECEMBER 26, 2013. LINK )
'via Blog this'

Were Ralph Nader not so passionate, he would be sage for us who inherit all of Corporate Dog Ass-ity in America. What a mess in 2015, corporations take from a locale and give absolutely nothing back. And if they advertise that they give back, it is a gambit that you will believe them in their lies.

That's not the only attacker of the American economic system. In his obvious paranoia, Powell claims attacks from:
"...The most disquieting voices joining the chorus of criticism come from perfectly respectable elements of society: from the college campus, the pulpit, the media, the intellectual and literary journals, the arts and sciences, and from politicians. In most of these groups the movement against the system is participated in only by minorities. Yet, these often are the most articulate, the most vocal, the most prolific in their writing and speaking..." (ibid. Willies)
Then with another broad brush stroke Powell identifies the crux of this bizkit that in 2015 has come to a head:
".. Favorite current targets are proposals for tax incentives through changes in depreciation rates and investment credits. These are usually described in the media as “tax breaks,” “loop holes” or “tax benefits” for the benefit of business. As viewed by a columnist in the Post, such tax measures would benefit “only the rich, the owners of big companies.”
It is dismaying that many politicians make the same argument that tax measures of this kind benefit only “business,” without benefit to “the poor.” The fact that this is either political demagoguery or economic illiteracy is of slight comfort. This setting of the “rich” against the “poor,” of business against the people, is the cheapest and most dangerous kind of politics...." (ibid. Willies)
The Powell Memo/Manifesto is kaputz. Powell is a Corporate Putz. His Memo is a piece of crap. Anyone who believes this Memo has no credit as they are so far out of the loop of reality, that there is no hope for them.

Powell too often defaults "...survival of what we call the free enterprise system, and all that this means for the strength and prosperity of America and the freedom of our people..." as if American Economy is an established form of business worldwide. Bollocks! If I may, the most recognized form of business world wide is probably "barter." Powell is delusional in his broad stroke discussion of American business. I can only speculate he has no business experience. He was an elitist lawyer politician. Poor old Powell, he thinks America is a nation of collective minded worker bees, who work only to please the "system."

CONCLUSION
The world would be a better place if  Lewis F. Powell, Jr.had not written this secret Memo to the Chamber of Commerce back in 1971. The very system Powell thinks he is defending, American Economic System, has in 2015 developed into a plutocracy, fascist system that takes what it needs from regions and gives nothing back, all for the eternal dividend it pays its stockholder.

SOURCES
Here are the sources listed at the end of Powell's Memo:
"...Although origins, sources and causes are complex and interrelated, and obviously difficult to identify without careful qualification, there is reason to believe that the campus is the single most dynamic source ..." (ibid memorandum. Willies)

Conclusion (Powell's)
"It hardly need be said that the views expressed above are tentative and suggestive. The first step should be a thorough study. But this would be an exercise in futility unless the Board of Directors of the Chamber accepts the fundamental premise of this paper, namely, that business and the enterprise system are in deep trouble, and the hour is late."
 Footnotes (Powell’s)
Variously called: the “free enterprise system,” “capitalism,” and the “profit system.” The American political system of democracy under the rule of law is also under attack, often by the same individuals and organizations who seek to undermine the enterprise system.

One illustration of the type of article which should not go unanswered appeared in the popular “The New York” of July 19, 1971. This was entitled “A Populist Manifesto” by ultra liberal Jack Newfield — who argued that “the root need in our country is ‘to redistribute wealth’.”
The recent “freeze” of prices and wages may well be justified by the current inflationary crisis. But if imposed as a permanent measure the enterprise system will have sustained a near fatal blow.

Vladimir Putin, interview to the Italian newspaper «Il Corriere della Sera» - Corriere.it: "We have kept since Soviet times a military unit at a base in Armenia. It plays a certain stabilising role in the region, but it is not targeted against anyone. We have dismantled our bases in various regions of the world, including Cuba, Vietnam, and so on. This means that our policy in this respect is not global, offensive or aggressive. I invite you to publish the world map in your newspaper and to mark all the US military bases on it. You will see the difference."

“While this refinery has a long and proud history, it now has an even brighter and more promising future,” Al-Falih told dignitaries and guests gathered to celebrate this milestone event.

The expanded facility allows for the production of about 23 million gallons of transportation fuels a day and will help in reducing bottlenecks that contribute to higher gasoline prices in the United States.

Saudi Aramco’s investment in the refinery expansion is meant to ensure that Saudi Arabia will retain an important market for its crude in the United States at a time when American politicians are declaring their intention to wean the country off imported oil. Adding to the urgency for the Saudis is the fact that the United States is vastly increasing its production and replacing OPEC crude with that from oil sands in Canada. ... "

Hillary Clinton to be back at work Monday - Channel NewsAsia

The Only Thing Left for Hillary is to pose for Playboy
by Pat Darnell | Jan 9, 2013 | Bryan TX

[Picture LINK] " ... She told Obama a long time ago that she would not return to serve as Secretary of State in the President's second term. So what is a former first lady and Senator to do with a bunch of time off? ... Hillary has a Situation-like threefold plan: GNC. Yes, that stands for Gym, Nap, Chill. (Myles Tanzer. NOV 11, 2012 2:09 PM. HERE)... "

Hillary Clinton to be back at work Monday - Channel NewsAsia:

'via Blog this'

Sometimes people who are bombastic and have inflated egos do actually grow out of it, and into a more stable human being. Narcissism has its purpose in lives of leaders. How else could anyone have the nerve to jump out ahead of others while walking all over those who propel them to high office.

What has Hillary Clinton done that makes her anything more than butterball politician of the month? She was some sort of half-wit socialist in college. She backed a bunch of politicians who lost their campaigns. She married Bill Clinton. She became a mother.

While in the White House she is said to have tantrums about Bill Clinton's affairs, both public and private. And while Bill was treasonous with his appetite for country girls, Hillary was busy researching and writing a health care bill.

Our Oak Park, Illinois girl pushed her way into the Senate, [D-NY, 2001-2009], on her way to run for president, POTUS. Along comes the chosen one, Barry Obama, who is the Bilderberger candidate of choice, and Hillary is prompted by then Senator Ted Kennedy to compromise.

Those, elite of the Democratic party, at the time before the 2008 election met with Ted Kennedy who set them all straight. Obama will be POTUS, Hillary will be Secretary of State, and her Healthcare bill will be pushed through.

It was obvious to this writer what happened. Others will of course have their own perspective.

My view is that Hillary Clinton has grown out of her bombastic ways because she has run and won by herself a Senate race for New York, where she never lived. She has run for POTUS, and won herself the Secretarial position. She has been manic in her zeal to do a good job ... by standards of precedence for the office she holds.
" ... Clinton has been sidelined for four weeks, since she was taken ill on her return from a trip to Europe on December 7, and briefly hospitalized for a few days in New York last week.

It has been a rare absence for the normally indefatigable Clinton, who in her four years in office has traveled almost a million miles, visited 112 countries and spent close to 400 days in a plane. (-AFP/ac. 07 January 2013. HERE) ..."
Soon she will step down and John Kerry will take over that appointed position.

See, Politics is Simple. But if you want to be a politician, you have to be an outrageous, careless, bombastic, loquacious, attention grabbing, sidekick to another politician who is more so amoral ... then you get to a point in the "career" where you "GNC: Gym Nap Chill."

MooPig Report from the Middle :: The Initials have been Changed to Protect the Innocent PART TWO

by Pat Darnell  |  June 13, 2012  |  Bryan TX
[Picture LINK]

Today, June 13th, is my older brother's birthday. We are both pain-in-the-ass June babies, seven years apart. The initials are changed to protect the innocent. Yes, we have brought on the pain over the years.
*
It so happens that a word in use has been spotted by the MooPig "Verses, Commentaries, Concordances Department." That word is "convoluted." It has been spotted used in many different places for the last year or so. What does convoluted mean?

Well it goes something like this: "
" ... Senate Republicans on Tuesday blocked consideration of a Democratic bill to prevent the doubling of some student loan interest rates, leaving the legislation in limbo less than two months before rates on subsidized federal loans are set to shoot upward.
NOTE:
YES = vote to prevent student loan interest rates from doubling
NO = vote to allow student loan interest rates to double (See Poll Results HERE ) ... "

Is this a good thing or a bad thing -- WHO THE HELL KNOWS??!!!

A married couple trying to put two through college will see this as a slap in the face... since the student loan system has been the only way to put a kid in college of late. Suddenly, the convoluted government decides to let the interest rates double for some unwitting moms and dads? The loan programs have been around since the 60's...!

Convoluted: " ... highly complex or intricate and occasionally devious; "the Byzantine tax structure"; "Byzantine methods for holding on to his chairmanship"; "convoluted legal language"; "convoluted reasoning"; "the plot was too involved"; "a knotty problem"; "got his way by labyrinthine maneuvering"; "Oh, what a tangled web we weave"- Sir Walter Scott; "tortuous legal procedures"; "tortuous negotiations lasting for months" ... " (online dictionary. HERE)

Byzantine, eh?

[Picture LINK]

That's our Report from the Middle, where men are good looking, women are strong, and children are all above average ... not convoluted.

Heisman Trophy Nominees 4012

Satire, Conjecture, and Piracy by Pat Darnell  |  Dec 10, 4011  |  Bryan TX

"Welcome Folks, I am Ron Post and we are here today giving the rundown on Heisman Nominees 4012. It has been two thousand years in the making ... but we have the most advanced young men and women in the bid today for the prized Trophy."

"Our Heisman nominees stand at crossroads of sports, religion and popular culture."

"Ever since the second coming in 2012, we have been fortunate to entertain off-world competitors to the ranks of nominees."

"Here's the 4012 line up:"

"And NO we don't include Albert Pujols, the Fifteenth, whose skills at hitting a baseball are so rare that the Los Angeles Angels agreed Thursday to pay him $254 million over the next 10 years..."

Montee Brawl, RB, New Wisconsin, New Earth Station Zebra Conference

4011 Season: 275 rush, 1759 yards, 32 TD, 20 rec, 255 yards, 6 TD, 2/2 pass, 57 yards, 1 TD, 1 TPC, three Deaths, four Crushed Sternums, and a Bong

When you look at Ball’s season on iPaddy, you wonder how anybody can top these numbers.

He single-handedly accounted for 39 of Wisconsin’s 78 offensive touchdowns, while doing much of his damage in the first two or three quarters of football games. He only received 567 years probation for these offenses.

Brawl has yet to fail to have a game in which he did not record at least two total touchdowns, three cheerleaders, in 4011, and was a crucial success to New Wisconsin’s 11-2 season in which he led them to a NESZC Jack-in-the-Box Championship.

There just has been no stopping Montee Brawl in 2011. Broke Michigan State and Leftie Ohio State kept him to just one touchdown on the ground, but he found other ways to score against them. Those were the two match-ups back to back in which New Wisconsin lost.

Brawl has a shot to win the Heisman Trophy with these numbers, and he was clearly one of the most outstanding players in New Earth Station. However, New Wisconsin has a history of producing running backs year after year courtesy of dominant offensive lines.

Voters will likely question just how much Brawl did himself, as well as go back and review some of the huge running lanes he had.

I Ran Fas' Mathieu, CB, LSUsurpers, South Will Rise Again Conference

4011 Season: 71 Tackle, 54 solo, 6.5 TFL, 2 sack, 2 INT, 7 PBU, 6 FF, 1 TD, 26 punt return, 420 yards, 2 TD

There’s truly nothing that sophomore cornerback I Ran Mathieu cannot do. Just looking at his stats alone, any person could tell that he’s extremely versatile.

He’s an exceptional punt returner, he can defend well in coverage, he can blitz, he can tackle, and he can force fumbles.

The Mathieu buzz has died down a bit since his one game suspension for testing positive for synthetic marijuana -- whatever the hell that is. But going into that suspension, the Honeybadger had everything going his way.

Mathieu scored three total touchdowns this year, two on punt returns, and one on a fumble in which he forced. He was a force when blitzing the opposing offense, and his speed and elusiveness made him feared when returning the football.

T-Rich Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama, Alligator Ate my Maw Conference

4011 Season: 263 rush, 1583 yards, 20 TD, 27 rec, 327 yards, 3 TD

If there ever is a player that is most deserving of a Heisman Trophy it is Richardson. I’m personally a bit biased towards T-Rich, as I believe him to be the second most talented player in the nation only behind Andrew Luck, and in terms of NFL Draft potential.

But the hard work that this man puts out day in and day out is something that simply cannot be spoken for. He’s the first to get into the weight room and the last one to leave, but Heisman voters care what he did on the field.

What he did on the field was score touchdowns and lead a Bama offense with an inexperienced sophomore quarterback and as well as mediocre receivers to an 11 win season to which the only loss was against LSU.

Richardson is impossible to shut down at the college level and while he has an offensive line that is mauling, he gets an extremely high amount of yardage after contact which is the most impressive statistic. And he has no synthetic marijuana possession warrants out for him.

______________________
Drafter Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford, Jupiter Leaping League Conference

4011 Season: 261/373 pass, 3170 yards, 35 TD, 9 INT, 43 rush, 153 yards, 2 TD

Luck was the #47 overall recruit in the nation according to Scout.com, and the #4 quarterback overall. Stanford nabbed him for their 4008 recruiting class, and hasn’t looked back since.

In 4010, Luck set the Stanford record for most touchdowns in a season with 32. He declined to enter the 4011 NFL Draft in hopes of bringing a championship to Stanford in 4011, as well as finishing his degree in architectural design. Which is all about drafting too.

Luck likes to tailgate his 4000 pound pulling guards and be pulled with their draft into the end-zone... like a Peugeot at Le Mans ...

Luck has been a top candidate for the 4012 Heisman for the entire season, as the expected number one pick in the 4012 NFL Draft has led Stanford to an impressive 11-1 mark, while throwing for over 3,000 yards and 35 touchdowns.

Stanford would have gone undefeated and could have had a chance at the nationional championship if their loss to Mudslide Oregon didn’t get out of hand in the fourth quarter.

Regardless, Luck’s resume speaks for itself. He’s thrown at least two touchdowns in every game this year, at least three in eight of 12 games, and has guided the Cardinals to it’s second season in a row of 11 wins.

Hug Me Plz Robot Griffin III, QB, Baylor, Prescription Writers Union League Conference

4011 Season: 267/369 pass, 3998 yards, 36 TD, 6 INT, 161 rush, 644 yards, 9 TD

When you think of the Baylor Bears, the last thing you think about in recent years is their football program. They should change their mascot to "Medicine Man," or not.

But Robot Griffin III has made this program relevant again, and he has made going to Baylor football games exciting and eventful.

RGIII has had one of the most inspiring seasons of all time by a college player. He’s a brilliant student athlete who has many things to look forward to outside of football. And his initials are so Madison Avenue marketable ... Yay!

But it just so happens to be that he has been one of the most exciting players to watch in 4011. With a little bit of help from talented wide receivers, and a solid run game, Griffin led the Baylor Bears to a 9-3 season.

Baylor was ranked in the AP and Coaches poll for the first time in 2500 years. Some voters could argue that Baylor’s poor defense forced stat padding and led Griffin to have much more productive statistics.

The truth is that RGIII made clutch plays when he had to and won football games for a Baylor unit that isn’t as strong as their 9-3 record indicates, but they do have a lot of heart and will to win.

The good news is that many voters like feel good stories, and this is a great one. This is a story about a young quarterback who seemed to have limited upside that everybody believed was strictly a scrambling quarterback who could not throw.

Instead, this scrambling quarterback turned into a Top 10 NFL prospect for the 4012 NFL Draft, and is one of the best student-athletes in the entire nation, while being a stand-up, humble man.

And the winner of the 4012 Heisman football Trophy is Jesus! Our God is the most complete football player ever to take the field and has a perfect balance of strength, speed, endurance and grace. Jesus holds every offensive, defensive and special teams record in the books and is just getting started. Tickets are going fast so dont miss your chance to see Jesus in action. John Edwards faces indictment charges :: Ex-US presidential candidate charged

Retrieved by Pat Darnell  |  June 3, 2011  |  Bryan TX
" ... A youthful, silver-tongued trial lawyer elected senator from North Carolina, Edwards sought the Democratic Party presidential nomination in 2004 and 2008. In 2004, he became Democrat John Kerry's running mate, but the two were defeated by George W Bush, who was running for re-election.

His indictment marks a stunning fall for a man once seen as a contender for the White House. ... "
EXCERPT  |  " ... The case relies heavily on Andrew Young, a former close aide to Edwards who initially claimed to be the baby's father so the politician could continue his 2008 White House race.
Young later wrote a tell-all book about the affair in which he detailed a costly and elaborate effort to keep it from going public. He has also testified before a North Carolina grand jury.
Edwards admitted to the affair in August 2008, after his campaign had ended, but did not admit to fathering the child until January last year.
If convicted, Edwards faces up to five years prison and a $US250,000 ($A234,400) fine on the conspiracy charge; up to five years prison and a $US250,000 fine on each count of accepting and receiving illegal campaign contributions; and a maximum of five years prison and a $US250,000 fine on the charge of hiding the alleged illegal donations. Bill Maher: Moral without a Cause?
Retrieved by Pat Darnell

Jesus Fish in a Barrel: "Religulous"
Posted by robbiefreeling on Oct 3, 2008 at 10:52AM

Bill Maher has had quite a run. Fourteen years have passed since Politically Incorrect saved him from Shannon Tweed vehicles and endless stand-up. A Washington meets Hollywood twist on the McLaughlin Group, PI proved surprisingly durable for Comedy Central before losing steam (and some bite) on ABC. After ill-timed (if courageous) comments led to the show's cancellation, Maher moved right along to Real Time on HBO (tweaking the format by losing the left-right debate and giving more time to Maher's emboldened commentary), where his notoriety, and wonky-smug shtick, hasn't waned.

I watched PI regularly for years, drawn to the unscripted and
surprisingly informed political exchanges between dustbin celebrities like Jimmie Walker and Casey Kasem. I was also drawn to Maher, whose vehement libertarianism often led discussions into knotty, unfamiliar territory, at least for American television.

But what has always bothered me about Maher is the irreconcilability of his dual, if defining, impulses: to engage seriously and intelligently with politics and morality, yet crap away all nuance, at a moment's whim, for the sake of an easy joke.

Rather than one supporting, illuminating, or even tempering the other, he too often just dilutes or degrades both comedy and argument. His latest project, Religulous, a Larry Charles--directed, gonzo-documentary screed against faith, is similarly self-defeating. (robbie freeling; Oct 3, 2008. retrieved HERE 10.21.2008) pd/mpw

Did anyone ever notice how busy people are trying to Pre-Select stuff??

"Political commentators are busy analyzing and psychoanalyzing the presidential candidates' words for hints about the real Barack Obama and John McCain. We gastronomers have a better way of penetrating the campaign spin. We take the time-honored approach of that proto-food-blogger Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826), who said: "Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are."

"At the very least, we believe that a candidate's taste in food is a more reliable indicator of character than the carefully strained statements issued in the current atmosphere of gotcha and gotcha back. So we have worked our sources and come up with the names of the candidates' favorite restaurants in their home states. We have tried them out and assessed what an appetite for their particular offerings might mean about two men with a 50-50 chance at spending the next four years ordering meals from the White House chef.

What Obama's and McCain's favorite restaurants say about the men

"Obamas' favorite spot for a night out in Chicago is the alta cocina Mexican restaurant Topolobampo, according to Michelle Obama spokeswoman Katie McCormick Lelyveld. For a simpler bite, the Obamas turn to RJ Grunts, a cartoony Lincoln Park emporium of burgers, ribs and Tex-Mex standards, the spokeswoman says. On her own, Mrs. Obama has favored the more cutting-edge food at Sepia in the trendy West Loop neighborhood near the atelier of her suddenly famous dressmaker, Maria Pinto.
