MooPig Architecture Nano-second Department :: "The Tallest Buidling ..."

Is in Dubai...
Taller Tales Articles by Pat Darnell  |  July 28, 2015  |  Bryan TX

Take a nano-second out of your busy day and contemplate Tall Buildings around the world. What, and who do they house? We sure don't know who leases all that high floor space. What we do know is that tallest skyscrapers are almost always structures that define a place. That is they are what puts many places on the maps.

Sears Tower, a skyscraper in Chicago that was the tallest building in the world until the construction of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, put Chicago on the map for many years. Yes, that is Sears and Roebuck Company, but is now called Willis Tower, because "... London-based insurance broker Willis Group Holdings got a steal at $1 million per year [starting March 2009] for the naming rights as long as it leases at least 103,716 square feet in the building. Their lease is up in 2025. ( Melissa Harris, Chicago Tribune. March 4, 2015. LINK)..."

In the United States, "... Completed in 1973 as the Sears Tower, the 110-story building was the world's tallest for 23 years. It lost its designation of tallest in the U.S. after the Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat ruled in 2013 that New York's One World Trade Center is taller.(ibid. Harris) ..."

Which brings us to the article we found about a very tall building to be built in China ... Changsha Tower ... building whose construction has been halted now for two years: "...The proposed Sky City tower was set to become the world's tallest building, but its construction was postponed just days after it started in 2013, amid safety fears and a lack of necessary government approval.(de zeen magazine, 20 July 2015. LINK) ..."

This modern hypodermic needle designed tower at 838 meters high, was to be built using modular components -- after pouring its foundation -- in only 90 days. YIKES! The large 2.6 hectare holes dug for its foundation have been filled in and are now fish farms and melon patches. Read more about it in this LINK 'ed title:

Planned skyscraper plot in China repurposed as fish farm: "At present the title of world's tallest building is held by the SOM-designed Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at a height of 828 metres. It is expected to be overtaken by the Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, which is already under construction with a projected height of over 1,000 metres."

CONCLUSION
Land use has been the story of mankind. Bluntly, land grabs are the common denominator in humankind's history. How a hectare of land is "purposed" depends on the meeting of imaginations of humans who over come the imaginations of others who oppose with their own purposes. Once there is a meeting of minds, towers will be built. The mega-universal-corporation in the US that leases the majority of space in tall buildings usually gets to name that tall building.

MooPig City Desk Department :: PART ONE -- New World Order, Agenda 21

WAAAZZZZZ~UP?
Retrieved by Pat Darnell  |  Nov 14, 2012  |  Bryan TX

Agenda for the 21st century:: Everyone everywhere today is asking 'So, what's the Plan?'

But did you know about in the 1990's the UN was making plans for all who might be asking. It is a bonafide piece of work signed by 178 world leaders, in 1992, called the Agenda 21 -- referring to the 21st Century -- at the UN Conference on Environment and Development, UNCED, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,... " aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for generations to come." Signed by Pres George H W Bush here in the USA.

Two words stand out from the preambles of the documentation and plans from the 'voluntarily signed Agenda' -- Sustainable Development. That seems to imply 'everything besides fossil fuel developments.'

Who might be asking today in 2012 for a plan? That would be the millions of people who participated in the 'revolutions' all through the Muslim Dictatorships, and those of us who just participated in our 2012 national election. We all in fact should be asking: What is the Plan, now?

When you Google around for Agenda 21 you get the following documentation, a list of where to go in counties to get your plan on :

The Local Agenda 21 Planning Guide :: AN INTRODUCTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PLANNING

Main entry under title: The Local Agenda 21 Planning Guide “In June 1992, the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development adopted Agenda 21, the global action plan for sustainable development.”—Introd. Includes bibliographical references, case studies ISBN: 0-88936-801-5

1. Sustainable Development —Planning—Handbooks, Manuals, etc.
2. Community Development—Environmental aspects—Planning—Handbooks, manuals, etc.
3. Economic Development—Environmental aspects—Planning—Handbooks, manuals, etc.

HC79.E5157 1996 338.9 C96-980128-9 -- Legal deposit: 2nd quarter 1996 National Library of Canada -- A microfiche edition is available

Agenda 21 is a 300-page document divided into 40 chapters that have been grouped into 4 sections:

Section I: Social and Economic Dimensions This section is directed toward combating poverty, especially in developing countries, changing consumption patterns, promoting health, achieving a more sustainable population, and sustainable settlement in decision making.

Section II: Conservation and Management of Resources for Development Includes atmospheric protection, combating deforestation, protecting fragile environments, conservation of biological diversity (biodiversity), control of pollution and the management of biotechnology, and radioactive wastes.

Section III: Strengthening the Role of Major Groups Includes the roles of children and youth, women, NGOs, local authorities, business and workers and strengthening the role of indigenous peoples, their communities, and farmers.

Section IV: Means of Implementation Implementation includes science, technology transfer, education, international institutions and financial mechanisms.

In many respects it is a New World Order, one that tries to diffuse the tensions of 7 billion people dependent on non-renewable fossil fuels. People are tense; yes very agitated. But one wonders why all this tension is released in the decade following Y2K.

Is all this tension after all an artificial development in populations worldwide? That would be a first. In the last century there was 'lag times' for planetary movement of people. For example: the USA did not enter the World Wars right away, for instance. Or, NASA didn't continue to visit the moon after 1969... and why not? We the people 'nation wide' had to take some time to make up our minds.

What is the hurry now? The 'pillars' of the document refer to priority in addressing the world's poor, hungry, and destitute. Those pillars also mimic green slogans like: standards including organic, Rainforest Alliance, fair trade, UTZ Certified, Bird Friendly, and The Common Code for the Coffee Community, and so on.

It turns out that someone thought to include a non-eugenic pillar:
" ... Indigenous peoples have argued, through various international forums such as the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues and the Convention on Biological Diversity, that there are four pillars of sustainable development, the fourth being cultural. The Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity, UNESCO, 2001, further elaborates the concept by stating that "... cultural diversity is as necessary for humankind as biodiversity is for nature”; it becomes “one of the roots of development understood not simply in terms of economic growth, but also as a means to achieve a more satisfactory intellectual, emotional, moral and spiritual existence". In this vision, cultural diversity is the fourth policy area of sustainable development. (HERE) ... "
CONCLUSION
So this is not a eugenics based plan, that would further prompt ignoble people to destroy large sky scrapers around the world's cities, to force a nation to attack bad guys in their dictatorship castles?

Unfortunately best laid plans of mice and men often go astray. It would not surprise me if this Agenda 21, now in its second decade of existence, will fall short of its altruist goals.

Michigan Woman Faces 93 Days in Jail for Planting a Vegetable Garden : TreeHugger

93 Days in Jail :: Veggie Tales
Retrieved by Pat Darnell  |  July 9, 2011  |  Bryan TX
This is a really great article about our lives in the neighborhoods. I have thought of planting veggies and herbs in my front yard because it is the only place we get sufficient sunshine year round. Why not?
EXCERPT  |  " ... This is not some gated community with HOA regulations. This is an ordinary, working class neighborhood in Oakland County, Michigan. Like nearly every other city in my home state right now, Oak Park is facing financial issues. Here at home, people are amazed that a cash-strapped city has the resources to investigate, charge, and prosecute a resident for something as innocuous as planting a vegetable garden. (Vanderlinden, Colleen. 7/08/2011. LINK) ..."
Oak Park, MI, city planner Kevin Rulkowski could only repeat what is common to front yards is acceptable. "... He said suitable means "common:" lawn, nice shrubs, and flowers. ..."

The city ordinance is not specific though, as to what plants are in those categories. Ninety-three days in jail, hearing on July 26th, creates a Go to Jail Card from the Monopoly Game, for planting the "wrong" plants.

How to Help

If you want to help support a gardener's right to grow food for her family (even if it is -- gasp -- in the front yard!) there are several things you can do:
1. Email or call officials for the city of Oak Park. Mrs. Bass has listed contact information for the mayor, city manager, and other city officials in the sidebar of her blog.
2. "Like" the Oak Park Hates Veggies Facebook Page.
3. Spread the word via Facebook and Twitter. By gaining attention to this particular issue, with this particular homeowner, the hope is that other cities will reconsider before they harass another homeowner for something like this.
What do you think? Should a front yard vegetable garden be a crime?

Architecture Responds the only way it Knows; "Duh?"

Remembering the portrait in his ready room, Picard turned to the front screen and commanded: "Make it so."

Dr. Despommier’s pet project is the “vertical farm,” a concept he created in 1999 with graduate students in his class on medical ecology, the study of how the environment and human health interact.

The idea, which has captured the imagination of several architects in the United States and Europe in the past several years, just caught the eye of another big city dreamer: Scott M. Stringer, the Manhattan borough president. [read the New York Times Science Article Here]

When Mr. Stringer heard about the concept in June, he said he immediately pictured a “food farm” addition to the New York City skyline. “Obviously we don’t have vast amounts of vacant land,” he said in a phone interview. “But the sky is the limit in Manhattan.” Mr. Stringer’s office is “sketching out what it would take to pilot a vertical farm,” and plans to pitch a feasibility study to the mayor’s office within the next couple of months, he said.

“I think we can really do this,” he added. “We could get the funding.”
