For the past 30 years Hef has been a glorified, pedophilic promoter of smut.
Young females at the height of their physical power fall prey to promises of wealth and fame.
No spirtual leadership here...please look Higher.
I've been called a prude, not prudent. I've been called crass and un-caring. I confess to these things and more, but I've respected the females I've known.
I remember noticing the exact day when my daughters' friends changed from cute little play-mates to "Play-Mates". I prayed that day for guidance and strength...to maintain my fragile grip on spirtual leadership of my family.
Only God's Grace and Infinite Wisdom in these goings on can save the day...and us.
Apparently this young female person found some of this.
Keep turning to look...it works.
Maybe I am too fast to criticize the old man, Hef; but he represents all that went wrong in the sixties. His capitalism based on flesh mongering sort of made all that we fought for seem useless.
His insipid grin irks me. And all those poor fellas out there who think they are a couple of sit-ups away from dating this month's centerfold... well, it is damaging.
Today there are so many creepy dudes around ... that I suppose Hefner was just reacting to the trends that would define our politicians, preachers and fathers for the rest of the twentieth century.
Playboy stuff was my "first" taboo at the tender age of twelve. I used to scheme in my fantasied filled pre-pubescent mind how I might come to buy a PBoy off the rack at the Seven-Eleven. Now I think of myself as young person obsessed with a blood sin... I don't know what I would have done with a Playboy if I had gotten one. Oh woe is me.
I got past it, but a nastiness lingers as I see this old fart play like he is some kind of Captain of Snatch.
One other thing that irks me is that Hefner picks females of a white, blond, blue-eye pedigree persuasion. This kind of deflates our exhilaration with the Rosa Parks incident, back in the day.
To paraphrase an old tome: "And it's one, two, three -- what are we fightin' for?"
As always -- thanks d2r2 for droppin' in.
