Volunteers are needed Saturday to help transform donated T-shirts into sleeping mats for people in Haiti.

Many people in Haiti sleep on the ground, which can lead to sores and other health problems.

Volunteers can help make the mats anytime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church, 5509 W. 41st St. No experience is necessary.

Yes; it is true. MooPig has a request from its Corporate owners to go into fashion with all eight hooves, clean and unclean.

We currently have only one Candy Stripier Intern, Kimmie Tartan-Tripe, holding down our growing Fashion Department. She, nor we, have any idea what that department is supposed to look like. But we have been contacted by some Southern Baptists who have expressed interest in heading up that melee of a task.

We were secretly hoping the First Methodists from Martin, Tennessee, would apply for the job, but they have up to now declined to consider the position.

We are as surprised as anyone that religion and fashion would be a match.

But so far the vast storehouse of free recipes available on the web hasn't dented cookbook sales; in fact those authored by celebrity chefs have driven overall cookbook sales to $540 million in 2007, a 4% increase from 2006.
