MooPig Trend Spotter Department :: "Black Friday"

Black Friday only gets Darker
Jacked articles by Pat Darnell  |  Nov 29, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Pictured LINK] Pope blesses crowd at Wal-Mart, Vatican City Location, at dawn today after being hoisted up on shoulders of eager store patrons.

Black Friday Horror Stories - Business Insider: "4. Grandmas started dueling over a RadioShack calculator.  "One of the sale items was a $10 calculator marked down to $5. Two sweet, elderly women came in to the store looking for them. When I told them there was only one left in the display, it was on," writes Jsquaw.

"The one grandma who lost the race called the other one horrible names as she was standing in the checkout line, gripping her $5 prize.""

We live in a college town. Bryan TX is sister city with College Station TX where Texas A and M is located. There are other colleges around here too, like Blinn, and A and M Consolidated... etc.

I was talking just now with my youngest son, 17, about the news that a Wal-Mart employee was trampled when doors opened at 6AM this morning. This happened in Delaware, or, as reported HERE. I mentioned to my son that we live in a place, Bryan, where that sort of thing won't happen for many years. He said, "I bet there is a death here next year [Black Friday, 2014]."

I chuckled, but then started thinking about it, and thus this post is written. Black Friday is enigmatic, and now dangerous. On most Wal-Mart walls, written in Sharpie on poster board, taped to the blue bricks, is the sign "BLITZ starts HERE" with arrow pointing to entrance.

I then explained to youngest son, "Do you know where the word Blitz comes from?" His eyes glazed over as he prepared himself for one of my miserable anecdotes.

"No, Dad," he replied.

So I gave the talk about how Nazi Germany developed a method of warfare called the Blitzkrieg, and that this word has been co-opt'd to the abbreviation "Blitz" which American football has made it a term describing a type of defensive-turned-offensive maneuver ... and now Wal-Mart uses the word for its Black Friday rush by mobs of shoppers at its stores in early hours on Black Friday.

This hour I found this LINK in my gmail, from ChristianBook.com, along with 66 updates concerning Black Friday Week Deals and sales online. In Christian circles I always thought Black Friday was the day remembered for when Christ was crucified.

CONCLUSION
Why would anyone go to a dangerous Blitz opening at a store, when one could stay at his laptop and shop all the same stuff Online?

MORAL OF THIS STORY
A good Defense is having a good Offense. Or, good news is free advertising: bad news is free advertising.

Cage Match #11 :: "Popemobile vs the White Bronco"

First Ever to Include "Cars" in the Cage Match
by Pat Darnell and Google  | Mar 23, 2013 | Bryan TX

OJ Simpson in his White Bronco

--VERSUS--

Pope Francis in his White Mercedes Popemobile

Is the Popemobile a second-hand car? - Telegraph: " And if you want the same paint job for your C-class you'll have to ask your dealer for "Vatican mystic white". As with all Popemobiles, it carries the registration "SCV 1" (an abbreviation of the Italian and Latin names for Vatican City, Stato della Città del Vaticano and Status Civitatis Vaticanae, respectively)."

'via Blog this'

This is about uber-economics. What was the real cost of OJ "Orenthal James" Simpson's trial and error, not in that order? You see the jurors in the OJ trial were sequestered, average age of the juror was 43, exhibits presented during testimony: Defense 369; prosecution 488, cost: estimated $9 million for Los Angeles County--includes costs for court and prosecution--defense costs not known, the cost of Simpson's defense is estimated at $3 million to $6 million.

Think, 1.2 billion voices. So much for all the pre-conclave speculation and scenarios. For those of you who view papal elections in terms of brackets, e.g., Religious News Service's "Sweet Sistine, the election of Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio is even bigger than a play-in team upsetting a #1 in the first round, and then going on to win the championship. (Brian Olszewski on Mar 15, 2013. HERE )

Calls to mind that Jesuit cardinal and eventual doctor of the church, St. Robert Bellarmine, who, when he resided at the Vatican in the early 1600s, tore the tapestries from the walls of his room in order to clothe the poor. He was said to have remarked, "The walls won't catch cold."

As for the "real cost" of papal switching, good luck with that. In other words we came up empty in our Googling. There are 1.2 billion Catholics in the world. That is one-seventh of the world's population. Now if every Catholic gave just one Euro ...

MEANWHILE :: In Conclusion
Down in the mouth: Root Canal Awareness Week begins this Sunday.

How Fast is Wikipedia?

Pope Francis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
[Picture LINK]

'via Blog this'

You know, folks, the new Pope was just elected about two hours ago. Here is a Wiki page already posted online. How smooth is that? Pope Francis: From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Pretty darn smooth.

These images were posted to Google Images just 40 minutes ago. We are nearing the speed of light in our communications. Turn on, login, tune in, see life go by.
" ... Argentine Jorge Bergoglio has been elected pope, the first ever from the Americas and the first from outside Europe in more than a millennium. He chose the name Pope Francis. After announcing “Habemus Papum” “We have a pope!” a cardinal standing on the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica on Wednesday revealed the identity of the new pontiff, using his Latin name. Bergoglio had reportedly finished second in the 2005 conclave that produced Benedict XVI who last month became the first pope to resign in 600 years. The 76-year-old archbishop of Buenos Aires has spent nearly his entire career at home in Argentina, overseeing churches and shoe-leather priests. ... "

MooPig Big Speeches Department :: "The Pope Letter"

Pope Wrote Resign Letter in Latin
Retrieved for your Perusal by Pat Darnell  |  Mar 6, 2013  |  Bryan TX

" ...After the pope finished reading his statement to a meeting of cardinals who had gathered at the Vatican on other Church business, it was up to the Vatican's PR wing to translate the message and fill in a global press corps on what was said and what would happen next. At least one Italian reporter, however, got the jump on everyone else thanks to the fact that she was apparently paying attention back in high school: (Josh Voorhees | Posted Monday, Feb. 11, 2013. Pope Benedict XVI Resignation Announcement VIDEO: Pope announces he is stepping down in Latin.:

'via Blog this' For those of us who opted to study a living language back in our school days, here's the official translation of the pope's announcement:

Dear Brothers,
I have convoked you to this Consistory, not only for the three canonizations, but also to communicate to you a decision of great importance for the life of the Church. After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry. I am well aware that this ministry, due to its essential spiritual nature, must be carried out not only with words and deeds, but no less with prayer and suffering. However, in today’s world, subject to so many rapid changes and shaken by questions of deep relevance for the life of faith, in order to govern the bark of Saint Peter and proclaim the Gospel, both strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have

had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me. For this reason, and well aware of the seriousness of this act, with full freedom I declare that I renounce the ministry of Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter, entrusted to me by the Cardinals on 19 April 2005, in such a way, that as from 28 February 2013, at 20:00 hours, the See of Rome, the See of Saint Peter, will be vacant and a Conclave to elect the new Supreme Pontiff will have to be convoked by those whose competence it is. Dear Brothers, I thank you most sincerely for all the love and work with which you have supported me in my ministry and I ask pardon for all my defects. And now, let us entrust the Holy Church to the care of Our Supreme Pastor, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and implore his holy Mother Mary, so that she may assist the Cardinal Fathers with her maternal solicitude, in electing a new Supreme Pontiff. With regard to myself, I wish to also devotedly serve the Holy Church of God in the future through a life dedicated to prayer.

MooPig TV Series Review :: FARSCAPE -- Is there a Lawyer in the House?

What is the Netball to all Catastrophes -- Litigation, maybe?
By Pat Darnell and Space Captains

Do you try to predict the future, sometimes? As a hobby or otherwise, one would've seen what's coming if one watched a TV series in 2000, Farscape. For a literary composite, as Farscape has done, I suggest watching one of the episodes. Episode 8 of Season 2 --"Dream a Little Dream" helps to explain the nature of the aftermath of the worst oil spill in the history of Mankind on Earth here in 2010.

Actually, Litigation is on the doorsteps of two very large institutions at this very moment in time, space, and architecture. Most of the circumstance of our disasters are unpredictable, yet back-peddlers try to rewrite preamble data all the time, mostly to their own fortune.

For example: British Petroleum is now facing a two-edged sword in trying to dissuade the world that it is broke, while headed for litigation hell on several international fronts. You know the saying goes: Don't Mess with Texas? What goes true for Texas goes for Gulf Coast states all along the coast. That is too many battle lines for BP.
Gulf Coast Lengths, statute miles
State | General coastline | Tidal shoreline

Florida (Gulf) 770 | 5,095
Alabama 53 | 607
Mississippi 44 | 359
Louisiana 397 | 7,721
Texas 367 | 3,359

Total Gulf Coast 1,631 | 17,141 [statute miles; SOURCE.]

At precisely the same time stamp, the Vatican must scramble for mitigation to thwart Legal Hounds at the Pope's doorstep, concerning their first legal petition arriving from the USA Bishops' sex scandal cover-ups accusers.
At the end of the Twentieth Century, one of the Sci-Fi Channel's most popular shows almost immediately upon airing, "Farscape" begins its thrilling second season as John Crichton, Aeryn, D'Argo and the Moya, their sentient ship, are forced to abandon the Moya's newborn offspring to a Peacekeeper so they can continue their journey. But they must soon deal with the consequences -- as well as a number of hostile aliens.
This episode genuinely mocks the legal establishment by the words of its own character judge: "I warn you do not mock our law." Institutions drown in the wake of ships passing too closely.

Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan (Virginia Hey), Chiana (Gigi Edgley), and Dominar Rygel XVI (voiced by Jonathan Hardy), visit Litgara looking for their lost shipmates, only to be embroiled in a conspiracy that leaves a Utility Activist dead. Our trio is trapped in the foible because they are off-worlders. The plot expands as Litigarian's peculiar sense of justice is foisted upon Zhaan, the accused murderess.

It is on a planet called Litigara that 90% of the population is lawyers, and the remaining ten percent are called Utilities. The murder is of a Utility advocate who actively sought to bring the ruling Legal Class down.

On Planet Litigara, in their most sacred halls of justice, the supreme being is their Law, to which the attorneys pray to, and Amen to.

Initially a purist text, Litgarian Law was written like a ten commandments, short and direct to the point. However, the Law grew to its present state of duplicitous complexity to accommodate all the litigators.

Our "off-world-ers," Chiana, and Rygel, defeat the Law and trap the "ruling" legal magistrate in its own simplistic original form. "The Light of Truth is a Parable," claims the ruling Attorney, now himself on trial for conspiring Zhaan's being framed, and his involvement in the murder of a Utility.

But as Rygel points out -- this outcome includes a bit of chicanery, to free their friend, Zhaan.

This movie is: Mind-bending
