MooPig 'Stuff No One Wants to Hear About' Department :: "Fukushima UPDATE"

More Shaking News from Energy Experts
youTube Capture by Pat Darnell and Elaine D'Rico  |  Nov 7, 2013  |  Austin and Bryan TX

TRANSCRIPT

0:01SCHINDLER: I would say the biggest thing people should have learned from the Japanese nuclear
0:10accident is that for rare events that are catastrophic the tendency of politicians to
0:22go to risk based management is folly. Risk based management works well if you're calculating
0:32car crashes and the probability of getting in one. Things where you have a big database
0:38and lots of events in a big variety of things. For things that happen very very rarely so
0:47that you can't really calculate the probability - just to give you a number astronomically
0:53low and that would be for a tsunami or a nuclear power plant failure. Well, how is it then,
1:01that when you think the probability on a risk-base is of a tsunami causing 6 nuclear plants to
1:09fail...and then if that doesn't blow your mind enough, the calculation of a risk of
1:16a deepwater oilspill is astronomically low. And that happened just a few months later.
1:23So the message is: There are things that are important enough that you don't tolerate any
1:31risk. You have to have data to work with to generate reliable risk estimates and it just
1:39doesn't work for rare or catastrophic events. And that's something that we as a society
1:46need to know because we have politicians who want to see these risk calculations on everything
1:52and if they're below a certain threshold, you know, go with the in doubt one. The precautionary
2:00principle has been lost.
2:02SUZUKI: We're always being told these technologies are foolproof but what is a foolproof technology?
2:08It's a technology free of fools. And who hasn't been at some point gone to a party and gotten
2:13hammered and you come in hungover the next day, or got a cold and didn't want to lose
2:18a days wages so you come in, or fallen in love and lost 50 IQ points. I mean, lots of
2:29things makes us fools and you can't anticipate the fool. How a real life fool -and
2:35technology. But, you know, I make a point of not accepting invitations to be on organizations
2:39- foreign organizations - because I'm focused just in Canada, but last year I did accept
2:44one international invitation to be part of: Japan's Renewable Energy Foundation. It was
2:49set up after Fukushima. Fukushima is the most terrifying situation I can imagine. You asked,
2:58"What can we do?" First of all you have got to get a government that isn't in total collusion
3:04with techno...the energy companies. They're lying through their teeth. 3 out of the 4
3:14plants were destroyed in the earthquake and in the tsunami. The 4th one has been so badly
3:22damaged that the fear is: if there's another earthquake of a 7 or above that thing then
3:31will go and then all hell breaks loose. And the probability of a 7 or above earthquake
3:36in the next 3 years is over 95%. Now what they've got in there is 1300 rods of spent
3:43fuel that have to be kept in water all the time. And they have no way of getting it out
3:49and, you know, they're pouring water in and that water's leaking out and now they've got
3:53this cockamamie scheme of trying to freeze the soil so the (unintelligible) flows in
3:58- well - they don't know what to do and the thing we need is to get an international group
4:04of experts to go in with complete freedom to do what they suggest and right now the
4:10Japanese government has too much pride to admit that. I have seen a paper which says
4:17that, if, in fact, the 4th plant goes under an earthquake and those rods are exposed it's
4:25bye bye Japan and everybody on the West Coast of North America should evacuate. If
4:34that isn't terrifying I don't know what is.

CONCLUSION
Collusion and misinformation of and by Japan [and possibly the rest of the world] has stymied work on the clean up of the Fukushima nuclear plants. From other sources we find the cleanup will take thirty years. If it is that long, when it's done this author will be 88 years old.

" ... if, in fact, the 4th plant goes under an earthquake and those rods are exposed it's bye bye Japan and everybody on the West Coast of North America should evacuate. If that isn't terrifying I don't know what is. ... "

MooPig Free Range Grazing Rights Department :: "Keystone XL Pipeline"

[Picture LINK]

The Keystone XL Pipeline and its politics, explained:
"Why is it so politically controversial?

There are two reasons Keystone has become a political lightning rod. The most important factor is what development of the oil sands—or tar sands—as they’re called by opponents—means for global warming. Extracting bitumen—a mix of oil, sand and clay — from the region is more akin to mining than conventional oil drilling, and the final product is 15 percent higher in greenhouse gas emissions than other forms of oil.

NASA climate scientist James E. Hansen, who just retired from his federal job so he could become a full-time climate activist, said if all the oil was extracted from the oil sands it would be “game over” when it came to the effort to stabilize the climate." MooPig's History Minute :: Article from 08 \ 21 \ 2007 "Isn't this transcendent?"

Retrieved by Pat Darnell | Dec 11, 2011 | Bryan TX
[Picture LINK]
The Gulf of Mexico doesn't come with a Lifetime Guarantee, it doesn't have an EPA Rating, and you can't get one at SEARS stores ... that said, I have sentiments about the Gulf of Mexico. My misspent youth is remembered in units of when I was misbehaving somewhere on the beaches of the Gulf.

Corpus Christi, Galveston, Bolivar, Kemah, Stewart's, el Jardin at the Bay, Seabrook, Pirates' Beach... you name it I have stomped there. I'm not alone. There are plenty of people out there who have been in the canals and warm waters of  USA's third coast. Besides human interactions, it has served as brooding grounds for hundred millions migrating animals, birds and sea creatures.

At some point even a sophomoric moron latches onto the concept that the earth is one of a kind. The closest thing to it is at least 5000 light years away... eh? That makes the Gulf of Mexico with its multiple layers of bounty all the more UNIQUE.

It's a big body of brine water, so I think it can push back as humanity invades it. I have seen it go from seriously polluted in the 1970's, to a cleaner place of the 1990's... but that was after a conscious effort by residents and governments against contumacious usurpers of nature.

Most lately the Gulf of Mexico BP Oil Spill Disaster has us all on edge. I cannot get past it myself. What a calamity to have to live with, knowing the Gulf as I do. Maybe a little history of drilling can help me out. Here goes, an article from 2007 -- before the BP disaster:

Five Miles Deep: Pumping Oil from the Bottom of the Gulf:
EXCERPT | " ... He works for Chevron, and his team is sitting on several new record-breaking discoveries in the Gulf, a region that many geologists believe may have more untapped oil reserves than any other part of the world. On this trip, the 48-year-old vice president for deepwater exploration has come to a rig called the Cajun Express to oversee final preparations before drilling begins on the company's 30-square-mile Tahiti field. (Little, Amanda Griscom. 8.21.2007. HERE) ...

... That 5-mile shaft will soon give Chevron the deepest active offshore well in the Gulf. Some land drills have gone deeper, but extracting oil from below miles of freezing salt water and unyielding sediment creates a set of technical problems that far exceed those faced on terra firma. ...

... Today, deep-sea rigs are capable of reaching down 40,000 feet, twice as deep as a decade ago: plunging their drills through 10,000 feet of water and then 30,000 more feet of seabed. One platform sits atop each so-called field, thrusting its tentacles into multiple wells dug into ancient sediment, slurping out oil, and then pumping it back to onshore refineries through underwater pipelines. ...

... It's a business where huge sums are lost (two years ago, BP suffered a $250 million blow when a hurricane took out one of its platforms) but even more can be made. The mother lode of oil in the deepwater Gulf is so significant that Tahiti and other successful fields in this region are expected to soon produce enough crude to reverse the long-standing decline in US oil production of about 10 percent per year. ...

... Today, many of the world's largest fields — from Ghawar in Saudi Arabia to Prudhoe Bay in Alaska — are facing retirement, and the ultradeep frontier holds the industry's best hope for big new discoveries. But there are still big questions to be answered before Jack starts filling gas tanks: How well will oil flow from these prehistoric rocks? Can Chevron's equipment handle the increased temperatures and pressures at these depths? Can engineers successfully pump the oil back to shore? ...

... One of Chevron's top geologists, a Jerry Garcia look-alike named Barney Issen, pulls an image of the Jack field up onto the monitors. "To you, this may looks like a dog's breakfast," he says, pointing to a multi colored morass. But the data is actually a finely detailed 3-D map of the ocean, seafloor, and sediment below. It will allow Chevron to locate promising spots to drill and then provide a guide for the engineers who operate the production process remotely. ...

... Chevron needed to use masses of microphones to compensate for the distortions caused by a layer of salt as jagged as the Swiss Alps beneath the seafloor in the ultradeep regions of the Gulf. That mineral, unfortunately for the geologists in Houston, acts like a fun-house mirror for seismic sound waves. Issen compares sorting through the data to "peering through a thick wall of mottled glass and trying to count the freckles of someone on the other side." ...

... The Cajun is equipped with other perks: an Internet cafĂ©, a gym, and a movie theater — but these luxuries are hardly used. Few of the men have the energy for entertainment or exercise after working a 12-hour shift on the drilling floor — hauling great vats of mud used for drill lubricant, welding broken iron casings, or repairing robotic submarines that fix problems with seafloor equipment. The living quarters, which house up to 150 workers, are the size of walk-in closets, filled with cot-sized bunk beds that fold out of the walls. ...

Conclusion: ... "When you're here, you're pretty much working or sleeping," says Siegele. Stout salaries make up for the extreme conditions: Entry-level tool pushers make about $60,000, and high-level geologists and engineers can earn in the mid six figures. Added bonus: a massive testosterone rush. "This is the best big-boy toy you'll ever find," says Chevron spokesperson Mickey Driver. ...

As consensus grows that the world needs to shift away from fossil fuels, extracting oil from the most extreme and costly locations can seem foolishly myopic. If Chevron is going to throw billions of dollars into something untested and possibly doomed to failure, wouldn't it make more sense to invest in an inexhaustible, greener technology that's going to have political support a decade from now?
Siegele doesn't think so. He does know that geological limitations will prevent him from drilling much deeper: It's a pretty safe bet that below 40,000 feet, the extreme heat has baked off much of the deep-sea troves of crude. ... "

" ... For example, when a tool got stuck down the hole during one well test, someone suggested just banging a giant hammer against the casing, sending vibrations down that jarred the tool loose. ...
"Then, out in the distance, I spot fleets of trawlers the size of thumbnails setting off seismic guns in search of the next big deep-sea prospect. (Little, Amanda Griscom. 8.21.2007. HERE)"

The Gulf of Mexico is teeming with life, and activity, and should be given a little slack, because I know it can bounce back in short order from most all intrusions.

"Crabs, Sting Rays, and Sharks ... Oh My!"

Where modern oil drilling rigs and multitudes of sea creatures along with numerous people once co-existed in the Gulf of Mexico -- now there is immeasurable pain and suffering.
by Pat Darnell

Seems just yesterday, ... what was I doing ... April 20, 2010? Oh yeah, I was piddling around on faceBook, when suddenly appeared a big story of a 'British Petroleum off-shore rig' gone haywire.

The story was captured and reported by some of my wily faceBook friends. At first it was reported as a back-flow preventer not doing its job ... causing an explosion and the fire.

Our faceBook discussion centered on the 'good and bad selling points' of certain oil rig back-flow preventer's. The fact of lost lives had not yet surfaced in discussions. First thought I had was, 'Liability;' ... looking back that was probably not the most humane thought to have at that time.

Later, after the full scale of the disaster reared its fury, came mornings after mornings, waking up to read that the damaged oil well was spewing crude into our Gulf of Mexico. The spewage seemed unstoppable; the disaster story unfolded with so much uncertainty that no one could get a handle on where the gargantuan sea killer crude oil might find a resting place. It was dark days for months after the explosion.

Here we are today, no less frustrated, nor less confused, about the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Disaster, facing a date -- April 20, 2011 -- One Year Anniversary.

Like I began this paragraph, seems just like yesterday -- why do the years go whizzing past so fast?

“... "The BP oil disaster was the latest assault in a long series of injuries to the environment and economy of the five Gulf states. Fines paid by BP and other parties responsible for this disaster belong in the Gulf, to help restore the environments and economies that were directly harmed,” said the joint statement by the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, Environmental Defense Fund, Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, National Audubon Society, National Wildlife Federation, Ocean Conservancy, Oxfam America, and The Nature Conservancy.(AFS. grassam. G O D Aid :: "Please !!! Urgent Recruitment of Bands and Celebrities ..."

Gulf of Mexico, oil spill, disaster, Relief Efforts, GULF OIL DISASTER AID
Retrieved by Pat Darnell [from Jan 2010 article in MooPig Wisdom] and, the Dancing Dogs

Developing New Label Ideas for a New Year of Disasters... Calling all Bands and Celeb's
by Pat Darnell and Wri N Kullroecker

Everyone seeing Haiti Aid stuff all over, with promise of a soon-to-come Galactic level Spectacle performances from Bands and old stand-bys? Like DUBYA, and Willie.

Wondering 'HOW' you and your Band too can hustle all that open TV exposure, when other wise you can't find a stage -- no, ne'er even a street corner -- to play your deluge ocean of emotion music ... ?

Wonder no more; MooPig Enterprises' "Branding Department" has an idea for starving musicians.

Instead of providing Aid after-the-fact, MooPig's talented "Head Hunters Department" suggests a regional dispatch for Bands 'WHEN' the disasters are actually happening. The USA has very precise regional disaster corridors; and incredibly advanced warning systems are every day being heralded.

"There are many empty spaces, and dead air, resulting from concert-type Disaster-Aid lag-times; those need to be filled," say those who measure such things.

Why not provide Disaster Rockers Inc when a disaster is developing. Regional dispatch can round up the next Band will-call and rotate into disaster sites, to set up Stadium Rock Fest's.

This way the responding BAND -- or for really large cataclysms, multiple BANDs-- receive buckets full of much deserved Exposure !!

No doubt with international news wires also on site, your BAND will Rock the Headlines every time. And, don't forget the MUSIC itself, with the disaster as backdrop your Band will provide interludes of tunes for all the anxious queuing families, rubber-neckers, and onlookers.

Rescuers will appreciate your efforts as well: you can play your UNION Musician card with the Fire Dept and EMS groups... eh?

"It takes a village to have a disaster," say proponents of over-population groups.

Some "What to include" suggestions come to mind:

  • Candles
  • Cookies
  • Kettle Korn
  • Coffee
  • MRE's
  • Boots, blankets, Bingo
  • Weather Proofing
  • Instruction Booklets
  • Signage
  • Diesel fired Generators
  • Traffic Cones
  • Hats

Larger items could be on-hand similar to READY MEN or like a Red Cross 'BAND' Wagon, combining Entertainment with Rescue, E and R:

  • Disaster Relief Housing
  • Press Station
  • Mohawk Grenades
  • Junior Opening Band [preferable a local cadre]
  • Leaflets and Billings of your activities
  • Professional dance starter duo's
  • Professional Hippies and Skin Heads Moshing
  • NEVE Board

... And of course any up to date Disaster Relief BAND will bring:  WiFi and Hot Spot \ Wireless \ Laptops \ Sound and Filming Crew \ and your $Ten Million BOND information on hand

"Mudslides, Missiles, Alien Abductions, Tornadoes, Rioting after Sporting Events, Pearl Harbor and World Trade-like events, Oil Fires, Disastrous Movie Premiers, and a plethora of National Disasters and not having mentioned Climate related human tossing calamities yet," explain those who have a stake in disasters. "Don't forget all the opportunity around the entire world, also."

That is so right! Glaciers melting, Pyroclastic clouds, Monsoons, Islands sinking into the oceans in Dubai, Neutron Star Matter hitting Earth, Vogons,  ... not shabby stuff for the On-the-Spot READY Instant-it-Happens Disaster BAND ....
CONCLUSION:

Others, like BIONIC BEAUTY, Talking about most recent Disaster, Earthquake in Haiti:
In times of natural disaster, our world seems to forget the boundaries that separate us. It’s truly awe-inspiring for me. These last few days, I have shed many tears while watching the news casts of the earthquake that devastated much of Haiti. Twitter and Facebook are still hotbeds of activity for information and for ways to help. But with anything, it’s best to be informed. When Michael DeVellis, the Executive Director of The Powder Group (which also publishes the my favorite On Makeup Magazine) sent me the information below, I immediately asked if I could share it with all the Bionic Beauties out there. Gulf of Mexico; Oil Spill 2010 -- GULF OIL DISASTER

Thursday's QUIZ -- Match the TITLE with the Disaster EVENT DESCRIPTION, en Fuego !`
by Pat Darnell and the PigMarx Bro's. News Teamn

Today's Topic: "DISASTERS" We noticed in the "no-news" News Reports today -- our "Gulf Oil Spill" is now referred to as the "GULF OIL DISASTER" -- or "G.O.D." for short.

MooPig suggests: "Define Disaster ..." by looking at how that word is thrown down around the world. GOD be with us.
HERE is your Quiz, should take you about three hours, if you don't cheat.

Title of Disaster

Description of Disaster
A
Operation Eagle Claw 1

... Explosion and fire in the graphite core of one of four reactors released radioactive material that spread over part of the Soviet Union, eastern Europe, Scandinavia, and later western Europe. 31 claimed dead. Total casualties are unknown. Worst such accident to date.
B G O D -- Gulf Oil Disaster, The Deepwater Horizon, April 24, 2010 2 Nearly 700 oil wells were set ablaze ... The resulting fires burned out of control because of the dangers of sending in firefighting crews. Land mines had been placed in areas around the oil wells ... Somewhere around 6 million barrels of oil were lost each day.
C 1995 July 12–17, Chicago 3 More than 225,000 people have died from the disaster, a half a million have been injured, thousands still remain missing, and millions were left homeless. [...] Catastrophic damage included the destruction of entire cities, the contamination of farmland and forests, and the depletion of fishing stocks. Some areas faced starvation and increased susceptibility to disease.
D KARACHI, PAKISTAN 4  In 2003, additional surveys determined that while the majority of subsurface oil was in the mid-intertidal, a significant amount was also in the lower intertidal. The revised estimate of oil was now more than 21,000 gallons ... This ... oil is decreasing at a rate of 0-4% per year, with only a 5% chance that the rate is as high as 4%. At this rate, the remaining oil will take decades and possibly centuries to disappear entirely.
E Amoco Cadiz, 16 March 1978 5 This ..., is a viscous mix of liquid hydrocarbons, compounds made of the elements hydrogen and carbon. [This Substance] ... forms underground as plant and animal remains decay over time. ... Refineries separate [raw product] into products such as fuel oil, asphalt, and gasoline.
F 2010 Jan. 23, Port Arthur, Texas: The oil tanker Eagle Otome 6 ... witnessed its worst environmental disaster in its 56-year-old checkered history when a 24-year old, obsolete tanker Tasman Spirit carrying 67,535 tons of Iranian light crude oil, ... went aground on July 27, 2003 in the channel of the port ... amid rough weather.
G PETROLEUM or crude oil 7 ... [Oil well] blew out, spilling an estimated 140 million gallons of crude oil into the open sea. Although it is one of the largest known oil spills, it had a low environmental impact. Mexican authorities also drilled two relief wells into the main well to lower the pressure of the blowout, however the oil continued to flow for three months following the completion of the first relief well.
H Kuwaiti oil fires 8 Nov. 13, Spain ... [Tanker] suffered a damaged hull and was towed to sea and sank. Much of the 20 million gallons of oil remains underwater.
J 1993 Aug. 10, Tampa Bay, Fla. 9 ... Wrecked supertanker ... spilled 68 million gallons, causing widespread environmental damage over 100 mi of Brittany coast.
K Indian Ocean Tsunami 10 This is the first collision of two solar system bodies ever to be observed, and the effects of the comet impacts on Jupiter's atmosphere have been simply spectacular and beyond expectations. July 16 through July 22, 1994
L Exploratory oil well Ixtoc 1,
 3 June 1979
11 [Tanker] and a barge collide in the Sabine-Neches Waterway, causing the release of about 462,000 gallons of crude oil. Environmental damage was minimal as about 46,000 gallons were recovered and 175,000 gallons were dispersed or evaporated, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
M Tanker Prestige 12 ... [Tanker] lost power and ran aground near Port Sulphur, La., dumping 567,000 gallons of crude oil into lower Mississippi. Spill was largest in U.S. waters since Exxon Valdez disaster in March 1989.
N Comet P/Shoemaker-Levy 9 collided with Jupiter 13 ... On April 24, 1980, which mission resulted in a failed mission, the destruction of two aircraft and the deaths of eight American servicemen and one Iranian civilian.
O 2008 February 7, Port Wentworth, Georgia 14 Due to its disastrous history, the name of this American made product has become synonymous with failure.
P Exxon Valdez 15 739 people died in record heat wave.
Q 1986 April 26, Chernobyl, near Kiev, Ukraine 16 ... At least 84 killed and 147 injured by stampeding soccer fans before a 1998 World Cup qualifying match between the home team and Costa Rica
R - June 21, 2010
China weather disaster
17 On 27 August four enormous explosions took place at 05:30, 06:44, 10:02, and 10:41 local time. The explosions were so violent that they were heard 3,500 km (2,200 mi) away in Perth, Western Australia and the Indian Ocean island of Rodrigues near Mauritius, 4,800 km (3,000 mi) away, where they were thought to be cannon fire from a nearby ship ... Each was accompanied by very large tsunamis, which are believed to have been over 30 meters (100 ft) high in places. A large area of the Sunda Strait and a number of places on the Sumatran coast were affected by pyroclastic flows from the volcano. The pressure wave generated by the colossal final explosion radiated from the explosions at 1,086 km/h (675 mph). It was so powerful that it shattered the eardrums of sailors on ships in the Sunda Strait and caused a spike of more than two and half inches of mercury in pressure gauges attached to gasometers in the Jakarta gasworks, sending them off the scale. The official death toll recorded by the Dutch authorities was 36,417, although some sources put the estimate at 120,000 or more.
S Nov. 28, 2000 Mississippi River south of New Orleans: oil tanker Westchester 18 ... Three ships collided, the barge Bouchard B155, the freighter Balsa 37, and the barge Ocean 255. The Bouchard spilled an estimated 336,000 gallons of No. 6 fuel oil ...
T 1996 Oct. 16, Guatemala City, Mateo Flores National Stadium. 19 Recently ... an explosion fueled by combustible sugar dust killed 13 people and injured several others at the Imperial Sugar plant in this southern state.
U Ford Edsel, 1958-59, 60 20 Investigators discovered a leak in the wellhead itself. As much as 60,000 barrels of oil per day were leaking into the water, threatening wildlife -- affected about 125 miles of coast. By early June, oil had also reached Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi. It is the largest oil spill in U.S. history.
V 1883 eruption of Krakatoa 21 Torrential rains battering ...  have left 175 people dead and forced the evacuation of 1.7 million, as washed out roads and railways hampered rescue work Monday. Premier Wen Jiabao called for greater efforts to battle flooding that has also left 107 people missing since June 13, as more rains are forecast in the next few days, the government said. "In the coming days another round of heavy rain will hit areas in the south. We are facing a bigger test, so we need to make better preparations to avoid disaster," Wen said on state television. "We are in a crucial period. We must be fully prepared and step up organisation of disaster response work," he said on a visit to the water-logged region

Gulf of Mexico; Oil Spill 2010

Putting a Cap on rhetoric -- a Caddy's Cap that is ...
retrievals by Pat Darnell and the Herd  |   [HERE]   |  Golfing Obama whacks yachting Hayward
by Andrew Bolt Blog  |  Monday, June 21, 2010

"You wouldn’t catch Obama goofing off on a yacht while the US battles the greatest oil spill in history. No, sirree:
"Meanwhile, President Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden enjoyed a round of golf on Saturday..."

MEANWHILE ... back at the Caddy Shack:
Charles Krauthammer:
" ... Pres. Barack Obama doesn’t do the mundane. He was sent to us to do larger things. You could see that plainly in his Oval Office address on the Gulf oil spill. He could barely get himself through the pedestrian first half: a bit of BP-bashing, a bit of faux-Clintonian “I feel your pain,” a bit of recovery and economic-mitigation accounting. It wasn’t until the end of the speech — the let-no-crisis-go-to-waste part that tried to leverage the Gulf Coast devastation to advance his cap-and-trade climate-change agenda — that Obama warmed to his task.

"Pedestrian is beneath Obama. Mr. Fix-It he is not. He is world-historical, the visionary, come to make the oceans recede and the planet heal. (SOURCE , Excerpt) ... "
Call it what you will; leadership is not our strong point in the USA anymore. Besides, who in one's right mind, [left\right minds not excluded] would ever consent to being the target of EVERYONE's angst for the many years it takes to be Prez??

Obama should have won the prize -- the Prez'dency -- then logically hand it over to the runners up, no? That sentiment was voiced back in November '08. I think it was a good one. Above Chls Krauthammer pounds home the deficiency of leaders like Obama. I think Barry looks like Clutch Cargo when he speaks. BHO needs a sidekick or two: Spinner and Paddlefoot.
" ... Mort Zuckerman says Obama is a president who can speak but not lead:

"America right now appears to be unreliable to traditional friends, compliant to rivals, and weak to enemies. One renowned Asian leader stated recently at a private dinner in the United States, “We in Asia are convinced that Obama is not strong enough to confront his opponents, but we fear that he is not strong enough to support his friends.” (SOURCE, Excerpt) ... "
Friendlies aside -- who is the next one in line? Politics is not engineering and it is pretty safe to say not either Geology, Cosmology or Mathematics. Why is Obama constantly preaching from his bully pulpit the transcendence of metaphysics, when he and his audience neither one understands first Physics.

Oil Spill -- about as straight forward as one can get. Animals covered in oil -- even if somehow some entity is keeping pictures of rescued animals out of the mainstream media. Everything else is -- looking for a word .... -- uh, a Hissy Fit ... ? !  Uh, Goofing Off  ... ?!
" ... Noel Sheppard says reacted just as you’d expect to Obama and Hayward goofing off:

"America’s media on Saturday had a collective hissy fit over BP CEO Tony Hayward having the nerve to participate in a yacht race on his day off.

"At the same time, no such outrage was expressed concerning President Obama and Vice President Biden going golfing.

"This double standard continued Sunday as the three broadcast network political talk shows all began with Hayward’s yacht outing while ignoring the President’s R and R on the links. (SOURCE, Excerpt) ... "

Mockery not Nice

This my not seem relevent but the Day that Obama signed the health care bill he sarcastically said "they said it would be armeggedon if we pass this health care bill. I looked outside it was a pretty nice day. I didn't see any asteriods, I didn't see the earth split open.

"Go to this youtube and at the ten minute mark of his speach you can hear it for yourself. "YouTube - President Obama Speaks about Health Reform in Iowa City"

... But since then we have had a global Volcano and the the earth crack open. Call it coinsidence or maybe he should be careful of who he mocks.

Animals didn't commit the original sin. Why must they suffer too? I can hardly bear to look at those pitiful photos. I wish I could get there to help with the rescue and washing of birds and other animals. I feel so helpless, as I'm sure there are many others that do as well.
Embrace these little and not so little ones. Guard them, protect them, and grant them a peace that only we as humans can deny them.

MooPig TV Series Review :: FARSCAPE -- Is there a Lawyer in the House?

What is the Netball to all Catastrophes -- Litigation, maybe?
By Pat Darnell and Space Captains

Do you try to predict the future, sometimes? As a hobby or otherwise, one would've seen what's coming if one watched a TV series in 2000, Farscape. For a literary composite, as Farscape has done, I suggest watching one of the episodes. Episode 8 of Season 2 --"Dream a Little Dream" helps to explain the nature of the aftermath of the worst oil spill in the history of Mankind on Earth here in 2010.

Actually, Litigation is on the doorsteps of two very large institutions at this very moment in time, space, and architecture. Most of the circumstance of our disasters are unpredictable, yet back-peddlers try to rewrite preamble data all the time, mostly to their own fortune.

For example: British Petroleum is now facing a two-edged sword in trying to dissuade the world that it is broke, while headed for litigation hell on several international fronts. You know the saying goes: Don't Mess with Texas? What goes true for Texas goes for Gulf Coast states all along the coast. That is too many battle lines for BP.
Gulf Coast Lengths, statute miles
State | General coastline | Tidal shoreline

Florida (Gulf) 770 | 5,095
Alabama 53 | 607
Mississippi 44 | 359
Louisiana 397 | 7,721
Texas 367 | 3,359

Total Gulf Coast 1,631 | 17,141 [statute miles; SOURCE.]

At precisely the same time stamp, the Vatican must scramble for mitigation to thwart Legal Hounds at the Pope's doorstep, concerning their first legal petition arriving from the USA Bishops' sex scandal cover-ups accusers.
At the end of the Twentieth Century, one of the Sci-Fi Channel's most popular shows almost immediately upon airing, "Farscape" begins its thrilling second season as John Crichton, Aeryn, D'Argo and the Moya, their sentient ship, are forced to abandon the Moya's newborn offspring to a Peacekeeper so they can continue their journey. But they must soon deal with the consequences -- as well as a number of hostile aliens.
This episode genuinely mocks the legal establishment by the words of its own character judge: "I warn you do not mock our law." Institutions drown in the wake of ships passing too closely.

Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan (Virginia Hey), Chiana (Gigi Edgley), and Dominar Rygel XVI (voiced by Jonathan Hardy), visit Litgara looking for their lost shipmates, only to be embroiled in a conspiracy that leaves a Utility Activist dead. Our trio is trapped in the foible because they are off-worlders. The plot expands as Litigarian's peculiar sense of justice is foisted upon Zhaan, the accused murderess.

It is on a planet called Litigara that 90% of the population is lawyers, and the remaining ten percent are called Utilities. The murder is of a Utility advocate who actively sought to bring the ruling Legal Class down.

On Planet Litigara, in their most sacred halls of justice, the supreme being is their Law, to which the attorneys pray to, and Amen to.

Initially a purist text, Litgarian Law was written like a ten commandments, short and direct to the point. However, the Law grew to its present state of duplicitous complexity to accommodate all the litigators.

Our "off-world-ers," Chiana, and Rygel, defeat the Law and trap the "ruling" legal magistrate in its own simplistic original form. "The Light of Truth is a Parable," claims the ruling Attorney, now himself on trial for conspiring Zhaan's being framed, and his involvement in the murder of a Utility.

But as Rygel points out -- this outcome includes a bit of chicanery, to free their friend, Zhaan.

Wisdom, insights and random observations from this weekend’s Arts and Leisure section.
“Ones that might be thinning a bit because they’re older, I wear those if I’m outside washing my car in the driveway. Then you have a gym wig — a gym wig and a Target wig are the same thing — and the ones I wear to the mall on the weekend with my family.”

Broadcast live in New York and syndicated nationally, “The Wendy Williams Show” is a chance for Ms. Williams, who will turn 45 this month, [July 1, 2009] to expand her reach and her brand — without, she hopes, sacrificing her persona.
“People that I’ve talked to regarding the TV show, they’re asking: Who are your guests going to be? Am I nervous to go out there? What do you think America’s going to say?” Ms. Williams said in a recent interview in the pink-and-purple offices above her pink-and-purple television studio.
“I’m not overconfident. It’s just that I’m not caught up in that. What will be, will be. The die is cast. I can’t be anybody but me.”
[ ... ]
“I like to say that Wendy has a brashness, a sassiness to her, that she’s loud in a very good way, in look and point of view,” said Lonnie Burstein, the executive vice president of programming at Debmar-Mercury, the production company behind the TV show.

(It also counts Ms. Williams and her husband and manager, Kevin Hunter, as executive producers.) “Whether she’s talking or you’re looking at her, you have to notice her.”
Reviewing the show when it was shown during a six-week trial run last summer, Alessandra Stanley wrote in The New York Times, “She has a bawdy and arch side, but she can be startlingly mean-spirited.” Oprah, Ellen, even Tyra Ms. Williams is not, though it’s also no secret that she aspires to one-name status

[ ... ]
“She is willing to let it all hang out,” said Rob Dauber, an executive producer of the show and a veteran of the Martha Stewart, Oprah Winfrey and Rosie O’Donnell shows. On the first of last summer’s episodes Ms. Williams pulled a Post-it note from underneath the lip of her wig. On another, congratulating a cameraman on the birth of a daughter, she said, “Kenny, you don’t mind if I say your sperm was frozen?” (“Uh, no,” Kenny replied.)
[ ... ]
Ms. Williams’s distinctive voice may be her strength, wrote Steve Sternberg, the executive vice president for audience analysis at the media-buying group Magna Global Entertainment, in an e-mail message. Ratings for syndicated talk shows, including Ms. Winfrey’s, have fallen in the last several years, so there is some room in the daytime market, he wrote. “Ordinarily clones do not work, but original, strong personalities can break through (see Ricki Lake, Rosie, Dr. Phil).” And of the 14 syndicated daytime talk shows now on television, 10 have an audience whose median age is 50 or above, he wrote, so someone who skews younger could be appealing.
