MooPig Share the Science Department :: "Familiarize Yourself with the Present Moment"

If only I had an Exotic Brain
Mashed article from mashed NYTimes articles by Pat Darnell, and the Herd  |  Dec 7, 2013 |  Bryan TX

[Slide LINK]

On my desk sits a Rubric's Cube with dust on it, and unsolved. If I had an exotic brain I would be more like the wise bovine with its special cultural symbiosis. One cow alone does not a Summer make... eh? It takes many diverging carbon based entities to make up a theory about life, the universe, and everything. It also takes a compendium of particles and winking beams, and dark energies to make up everything in the universe. It takes a herd to get through life.

Lately, for the past 50 years, Nobel Prizes in Physics have centered around finding "new particles" in the make up of matter and all things. In 2002:
" ... It was there, in the 1970s, that Raymond Davis Jr. attempted to catch neutrinos, spooky subatomic particles emitted by the sun, in a vat of cleaning fluid a mile underground and for a long time came up empty. For revolutionizing the study of those particles, he shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2002. ( DENNIS OVERBYE. Published: October 30, 2013. LINK) ... "
It sort of has become a melee of particle farming. "If it is out there, we will find it," say the many hopeful, yet frustrated, physicists. Each experiment, to find the elusive dark matter that supposedly makes up 25% of the universe, takes at least a year to complete. And for those who devote themselves to the task, there is seldom joy at the end of the procedure. Lately, experimenters have this to say:
" ... As has become de rigueur for such occasions, the scientists took pride and hope in how clearly they did not see anything. “In 25 years of searching, this is the cleanest signal I've ever seen,” Dr. Gaitskell said in an interview.

That meant, the scientists said, that their detector was working so well that they would easily see a dark matter particle if and when it decided to drop by. (ibid. DENNIS OVERBYE. Published: October 30, 2013.) ... "
What can all this fantaz-morphic research bring to the table of common knowledge? That's a good question, and not easily answered. Safe to say knowledge of our primordial physics does not help us in any knowable way today.
[Picture LINK]

The math of Higgs-boson is impossible for the layman to understand. High energy physics, H.E.P, is what is called "basis-independent." However, unlocking pre-Big-Bang physics could offer knowledge of particles and their energies that could be used in medicine to heal, or to help read all the band waves that are invisible to humans. It turns out that high energy physics research is open ended research, although fundamental, that will take many generations to find that which it seeks. And, some "basis's are misleading, or too convenient." Nonetheless, it will be the "correlations between deviations in Higgs-boson couplings that will reveal the underlying physics."

Each discovery is tagged by the issuance of a Nobel Prize, as in "... finally, in 2012 — after 48 years, billions of dollars and the work of thousands of talented experimental physicists — we finally saw a tiny bump in data plots obtained at the Large Hadron Collider outside Geneva. That bump, evidence that the collider was producing Higgs boson (SEAN CARROLL. Published: October 8, 2013. LINK ) ... vindicated the work of Mr. Englert and Mr. Higgs years before ... "

Finding the Higgs Leads to More Puzzles - NYTimes.com: EXCERPT  |   " ... As Joseph Lykken, a theorist at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, and Maria Spiropulu, of the California Institute of Technology, put it in a new paper reviewing the history and future of the Higgs boson: “Taken at face value, the result implies that eventually (in 10^100 years or so) an unlucky quantum fluctuation will produce a bubble of a different vacuum, which will then expand at the speed of light, destroying everything.” The idea is that the Higgs field could someday twitch and drop to a lower energy state, like water freezing into ice, thereby obliterating the workings of reality as we know it. Naturally, we would have no warning. Just blink and it’s over."

"But cheer up. ... You might think that finding the Higgs boson, after 50 years and $10 billion or so, would bring clarity to physics and to the cosmos. But just the opposite is true: they may have found the Higgs boson, but they don’t understand it. (DENNIS OVERBYE. Published: November 4, 2013.) ... "

'via Blog this'

In reference below you will find a slew of NYTimes articles mostly by Dennis Overbye, about multiple universes, dark energy, massive protons, Higgs-Boson, super-symmetry; how does it all go together? Because, "accepting multiple universes means giving up the Einsteinian dream of a single explanation for the cosmos, a painful concession."

We, as a species, are limited by what we can explain.
“Physical science has historically progressed not only by finding precise explanations of natural phenomena, but also by discovering what sorts of things can be precisely explained. These may be fewer than we had thought. (Steven Weinberg,November 7, 2013. LINK) .. ”
CONCLUSION
This mad hatter idea of "Theory of Everything, T.O.E." is a lonesome, undiscovered thing. If it is even out there, it will escape many future explorations. It was a folly to get excited over a T.O.E in the first place; or was it?
" ... Dark matter has teased and tantalized physicists since the 1970s, when it was demonstrated that some invisible material must be providing the gravitational glue to hold galaxies together. Determining what it is would provide insight into particles and forces not described by the Standard Model that now rules physics, not to mention a slew of Nobel Prizes. (ibid. DENNIS OVERBYE. Oct 30, 2013.) ... "
For now, a quarter of the universe is still missing in action. The biggest surprise of discovering the Higgs boson? That there were no surprises; ... in theoretical physics: what if the Higgs field exists in an ultra-dense state that could mean the collapse of all atomic matter? If so, then it explains how fundamentally the universe lives and dies -- and regenerates.

Steve Braun EXCERPT | Comment:
" ... Nov 23 2013: I get a little frustrated when physicists use a cloaked version of the "fine-tuning argument" in their cosmology. You will find many physicists saying that the "how" questions should replace the "why" questions, because "why" begs the question of "purpose" and "who dunnit". We should not conclude that there is anything special about the Higgs mass, anymore than we should conclude there is anything special about the strength of gravity. If you think that the universe must be fine-tuned to support our life, you have started with a conclusion - life, or the length of time we expect to be observers of our universe - and then looked at empirical data and concluded that there is something special because the values for the Higgs field in either state allow us to continue to observer our universe for "a long time". (LINK) ..."
Therefore, in another universe parallel to ours, the alternate me understands the value of Higgs-boson? Now that the quantum vaccuum is "the medium" ... Probably so, but the alternate me might be Ferdinand the Bull.

My Final Days will be Spent on This

Wouldn't it just be crazy as life itself if the model for free energy has always been right beneath our noses? Like D'Vinci modeled things directly from observing and sketching nature; his helicopter, his war machines, etc.

Just at the age when my fingers are starting to tremble a little, I embark on this new quest: find out about "free energy" and put my brain on it. That is correct, I dedicate the rest of my life to finding it and teaching it to my children.

Opening argument: It can't be that difficult to find, it's all around us in nature.

Infinite Energy Magazine: "Of Note:

[Picture LINK] The term "cold fusion" originated in 1989 when Martin Fleishmann and Stanley Pons claimed achieving nuclear fusion at room temperature with a simple, inexpensive tabletop device. That claim fomented an international sensation because nuclear fusion holds potential for providing the world with a virtually limitless new source of energy.

MooPig Tech Successes :: "What ever Happened to the Ozone Hole?"

Chlorine Destroys Ozone
Mashed from sources by Pat Darnell  |  July 21, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

Observers have noticed since 1974 that certain chemicals send our ozone into chaos. Ozone in the upper atmosphere absorbs harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun. It is a chemical thing. Ozone is a "variant" of oxygen, after all, and susceptible to chemical reaction. In the mid-1980's, ozone awareness was raised in the international consciousness. It was discovered that there was in fact a huge "hole" in the ozone in the layers over the frozen deserts of Antarctica.

What the researchers call “happy time” comes in the afternoon when the tides return and they gather — along with a rotating cadre of graduate students — outside the Winter Palace on an old dock laid out on the lawn to compare notes, gossip and have a snack. "What ever happened to the ozone hole?" they ask.

We Observers then have a larger system to inspect, if we are to find answers elsewhere. One author says the number of possible systems is similar to trying to count every particle of a gas filling a room, "to determine how the particles are distributed." Entropy models proposed are still crude and can not calculate the possibilities in this example. However, even gross observations using entropy detection has produced good results.

Why should we be concerned with a thin, life-sustaining, layer of atmosphere made of rare Oxygen (O3) molecules, anyway? "Intergalactic space lacks both the particles to form us, and the energy to sustain us. It is self-evident that we live in one of the regions that are life friendly. In the multiverse, too, many regions have properties that are incompatible with the existence of observers: They might be entirely empty, or their physical laws preclude any complex structures. (RAPHAEL BOUSSO. October 17, 2008. LINK) ..." And, a central tenet of thermodynamics is the “second law,” which states that a quantity called entropy cannot decrease.

Whatever Happened to the Ozone Hole?: "The ozone layer lies between about 9.3 and 18.6 miles (15 and 30 kilometers) above Earth's surface. This blanket of ozone, or O3, blocks most of the sun's high-frequency ultraviolet rays. These UV rays can cause skin cancer and cataracts in humans, as well as reproductive problems in fish, crabs, frogs, and even in the single-celled phytoplankton at the bottom of the ocean food chain.

Ozone is created naturally when oxygen molecules (O2) high in the atmosphere get broken by sunlight into two free oxygen atoms. A free atom can then bond with an unbroken O2 molecule, and ozone is born." (Brian Handwerk. National Geographic News. Published May 5, 2010. HERE) ... "

For example:
" ... Local ozone reductions approaching 50% in magnitude were observed during the Antarctic spring in the 11–13 and 25–30 km altitude regions over South Pole and McMurdo Stations in 1991. These reductions, at altitudes where depletion has not been observed previously, resulted in a late September total ozone column 10–15% lower than previous years. The added depletion in the lower stratosphere was observed to coincide with penetration into the polar vortex of highly enhanced concentrations of aerosol particles from volcanic activity in 1991. (D. J. Hofmann*, S. J. Oltmans*, J. M. Harris*, S. Solomon†, T. Deshler‡ & B. J. Johnson‡. 24 September 1992. LINK) ... "
"If we had just kept letting CFCs increase at a pretty nominal rate, characteristic of the 1970s, the decreased ozone levels of the hole would have eventually covered the entire planet," said atmospheric physicist Paul Newman of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. (Handwerk. May 5, 2010)

'via Blog this'

SUMMARY
Ozone is created naturally when oxygen molecules (O2) high in the atmosphere get broken by sunlight into two free oxygen atoms. A free atom can then bond with an unbroken O2 molecule, and ozone is born.

Ozone is unstable, however, and it's easily broken up by trace elements.

In that rarefied air, ultraviolet light breaks the molecular bonds in CFCs and free chlorine atoms get released. Chlorine then destroys ozone molecules by "stealing" their oxygen atoms.

The disturbing discovery set the stage for an environmental triumph: the Montreal Protocol of 1987.

Now a complete rebound seems imminent. Some scientists project that by 2080 global ozone will return to 1950s levels.

CONCLUSION
No one single person, or entity, has a personal expansive Body Of Knowledge, BOK available to handle all of these issues by one's self: -- like available to an MD, Climate Specialist, Environmental Scientist, Economist, and Editor, and so on -- all wrapped into ONE ???? NOT LIKELY !!

Each specialty attracts persons from that field. That is the beauty of a Project Body Of Knowledge ... right? Like that synergy thing that Bucky Fuller delineated, that the total is greater than the sum of the parts... Although we here at MooPig Enterprises like to think we can handle any information that explodes onto our screens, the Ozone question is a system of a downer being turned upright.

MooPig Tech Coroner :: "Free Energy Devices"

Retrieved by Pat Darnell  |  Feb 27, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK] Paramahansa Tewari, a graduate in Electrical Engineering from Banaras Engineering College, India, is the first Indian to get a Free Energy device patented. An increased efficiency homopolar generator.

Collective-Evolution – Free Energy Devices: Yes They Are Real: "People are waking up to the fact that not everything on planet Earth is as it seems, and new truths are starting to infiltrate the consciousness of the masses. It is very likely that free energy devices do exist and like many other discoveries, they have been concealed and hidden from the human race. The energy is extracted from what we call ‘space time’, it’s the energy all around us that we can’t see. A device like this cannot have a meter on it, it can’t be measured and  no price tag can be put on it. "

  'via Blog this'
Journey through every day for a while as it is reported on the Internet, and at some point in your travel something amazing will come clear. What ever you were brought up believing is very far from the truth.

If you fail to take the journey, you will find yourself in a place of isolation. You see, it is low tech ideas holding up our societies. For instance, Japanese support their high tech industry by a low tech technique called saving forty percent of their money. That's forty rin on the Yen is put away into savings by Japanese in their daily trek.

Americans support high tech food industry by eating. Industry supports utilities by paying meters. Yes, behind every high tech machine is a low tech reason for existence.

And, every institution can be upended by a low tech reason. The music industry is today nonexistent because patrons decided to burn their own tapes, and CD's. It does not mean that people quit listening, it means they found an almost free source of music.

If it became clear to people that electricity is all around us as an almost free source, we would gather it from the ground. The best reason for our Tech Industry to me is that humans are basically hunters/gatherers, a very old low tech concept. We want to gather our own stuff from the earth, it's basic instinct.
" ... This can mean that a free energy device is a threat to the industry that controls our world and the people on it, the energy industry. The energy industry dictates who has access to life and who doesn't  If you look at where the funding comes from, it’s easy to make connections between the energy, pharmaceutical, health, food and educational industries. Let’s take a look at what has been concealed from us and what’s becoming increasingly transparent. (ARJUN. DECEMBER 4, 2012. LINK) ... "
Tewari, a senior engineer with India's Department of Atomic Energy-Nuclear Power Corporation, also directs the Kaiga Project, India's largest atomic power facility, in Karnataka. He freely acknowledges his debt to DePalma, who has shared his experimental results with Tewari for many years. According to Tewari, "The electrical power generated by the Space Power Generator is indeed commercially viable and should be brought to the notice of the general public." (ARJUN. DECEMBER 4, 2012. Bruce Eldridge De Palma, a well known figure in the Free Energy suppression community for his invention, the N-machine Homopolar generator, a device based on the Faraday disc which is reported to produce up to five times the energy required to run it. After Bruce's death his research was discontinued. A close friend of Bruce, Paramahamsa Tewari had been under some instruction and was in partnership with Bruce to produce the N machines. (ARJUN. What's that Smell ?? Whiff of Vacuum ??

Today -- ‘Smell of space’ strong, metallic and unique, say NASA astronauts
September 7th, 2009 [HERE]

Washington, September 7 (ANI): NASA astronauts aboard the US space shuttle Discovery have said that the smell of space, which is regarded as the final frontier, is strong, metallic and unique.

“There is one smell up here that is really unique though and that is the smell, we just call it ‘the smell of space’,” said NASA engineer and astronaut Gregory Chamitoff, who is on board US space shuttle Discovery.

“I haven’t had a chance to do a spacewalk yet, but when the other guys did and they came back in, there’s this really, really strong metallic smell,” he added.

For rookie astronaut Kevin Ford, Discovery’s pilot, both the sounds and smells of space have surprised him.

“It’s like something I haven’t ever smelled before, but I’ll never forget it,” he said. “You know how those things stick with you,” he added.

Chamitoff and Ford are among 13 astronauts on board the International Space Station and US space shuttle Discovery.

Like ozone, or gunpowder

Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata, who launched to the station aboard Discovery and stayed behind when it left to join the outpost's crew, said he also could smell the odd odor that wafted in from outside the station. But both Antonelli and Wakata, who helped Discovery's spacewalkers climb in and out of their spacesuits, could not put words to the distinctive out-of-this-world scent.

Former NASA astronaut Thomas Jones, a veteran of three spacewalks before retiring from spaceflying in 2001, thinks the odor could stem from atomic oxygen that clings to spacesuit fabric.

"When you repressurize the airlock and get out of your suit, there is a distinct odor of ozone, a faint acrid smell," Jones told SPACE.com, adding that the smell is also similar to burnt gunpowder or the ozone smell of electrical equipment. "It's not noticeable inside the suit. The suit smells like plastic inside."

The smell, he adds, only occurs on a shuttle or the space station after a spacewalk and is unmistakable to astronauts working with the spacesuits and equipment that was used in the vacuum of space.

"In those tight spaces, your nose gets right next to the fabric," Jones said. "I like to think of it as getting a whiff of vacuum!"

2002 -- Spacewalkers describe smoky, bitter 'smell of space'
Friday, November 8, 2002
[Article HERE]
WHITSON: Flying in space here is phenomenal. It's amazing just to feel your body adapt to floating around in zero (gravity). But it was really, truly amazing to me to do a spacewalk, especially at the end of the (station's robotic arm) as Valery was swinging me around.

I really just feel like what a bird must feel like flying. I felt out there alone, and it was just so beautiful watching the Earth go by.

O'BRIEN: You didn't get that sensation of falling that some people have reported?

WHITSON: No, not at all. In fact, everybody told me that I was giggling. So they realized that I was having a good time.

O'BRIEN: One of the things I've never heard anyone describe was the smell of space. And this is in reference to when you (Whitson) brought in your suit from a spacewalk and (it) had a very distinct smell. I mean, we're talking about the vacuum of space, and yet it has an odor. Describe it for us.

WHITSON: Some people call it kind of ozone-like. I wasn't sure what ozone was supposed to smell like, but it's kind of smoky and a little harsh, bitter-smelling. And it lasts variable amounts of time. I noticed that it didn't last as long in the docking compartment after we had done three (spacwalks) out of the air lock here. But it's really interesting because it's very distinctive.

O'BRIEN: I don't think a lot of people know what ozone smells like. Is there another way to describe it? You described it in a letter (on a NASA Web site) as almost a burn smell. It's just very interesting, I think, to those of us down on Earth.

WHITSON: Korzun said it's kind of like a smell from a gun, right after you fire the shot. I think it kind of has almost a bitter kind of smell in addition to being smoky and burned.
