The Rip Van Winkle Effect
Mixed Martial Articles by Pat Darnell | July 22, 2015 | Bryan TX
What if you were incarcerated for writing about your business? Well, here is an example of that very situation. This Blogger in Iran was arrested for the content of his Blog in 2008. Read on, dear reader ...
The Web We Have to Save — Matter — Medium: "Blogs were gold and bloggers were rock stars back in 2008 when I was arrested. At that point, and despite the fact the state was blocking access to my blog from inside Iran, I had an audience of around 20,000 people every day. Everybody I linked to would face a sudden and serious jump in traffic: I could empower or embarrass anyone I wanted.
People used to carefully read my posts and leave lots of relevant comments, and even many of those who strongly disagreed with me still came to read. Other blogs linked to mine to discuss what I was saying. I felt like a king."

MooPig's "So You Want to be a Blogger" Department :: da' BLOG
So, copy it, for the love of God...
by Pat Darnell | Nov 12, 2012 | Bryan TX
People want to figure it out for themselves. That is the reason for Blogs.
Everywhere one goes there is mysteries. People encounter mind benders at every interval of life. No kidding. If the mind were left unattended by reason and logic, ahem, it would go from stimulus to stimulus unguarded. Much like a puppy acts, people would let their noses lead them to every new smell.
In as much as people are not puppies, bloggers are not just anyone with enough time or narcissism to document every tedious bit of minutia filling their uneventful lives. Bloggers are first, good typists, then, people with too much time.
And now you want to be a blogger. Let's start then with "brand ambassadorships." Yes you heard it right here; "brand ambassadorships." No matter what you publish in your blog, you are now a maker of brands. You know that you can copy\ past nearly everything on the Internet... as long as you cite the sources, you might get away with using other blogger's stuff.
In the long run, you and your blog will probably suffer "some attacks and cease and desist" bombardments. You will survive though. There is no right and wrong up in here. Believe me if you are seeing the same stuff over and over for ten years, that is the stuff that is working on the Internet. So, copy it, for the love of God.
No matter how slimy, or, blocked, your stuff is, it has a market. And once you put yours out there, you have the makings of a patent. And your patent will some how become a brand. Then others will take up your standard and become "brand ambassadors" of yours.
Remember where you were on 9\11, and what you were doing? Well, if you don't then you are probably Taiwanese and were asleep at the time in Taiwan ... but that event scored a "large Internet number" for the sake of the technology that brings the Internet to us.
"Large Internet Numbers" are what we blog for, ultimately. One good friend says he gets 20,000 unique hits on his blog daily. Now, that is a "Large Internet Number." At social network sites, like faceBook, a celebrity, like Vin Diesel, will receive 35,423 LIKES after he says in his STATUS that "he just ate a sandwich." NOTE: You and I will have to work harder to get LIKES on our STATUS Updates.
"Large Internet Numbers." After the 9\11 debacle, people ran to and fro, listened to appeals, tried to sort out the information being fed to them, and what not, just plain tried to figure it out for themselves. The scenes of destruction from 9\11 imprinted all the minds of Americans who own televisions. And the Internet exploded with snippets of information, which, by the way, has grown to a very large Internet presence today in 2012.
In the aftermath 9\11 events remained imprinted on peoples' minds. No one was willing to just pass it off as a meaningless act. Some sorting out of the events needed to be done nationwide, so the imprints would go away, thus the best use for blogs. Dissipation of information from first source to all source points future.
Therefore, would be Blogger, remember no technical know-how is required to start. You just need to be a thinking human being who wants to figure out stuff for yourself. The rest will follow.
And you will enjoy your new self awareness.

Blogging is Pertinent; I'll tell you Why ...
PHOTO
What Blogging Is? ... a Development in Journalism
by Pat Darnell
Blogging developed out of healthy curiosity, as a taunt, a tantalize, and to quicken, in opposition to journalism. Plainly, Associated Press does a great job in getting first line on the facts of a story. And without AP most of us bloggers are SOL ... without a paddle.

Donkey Kong has its Diddy Kong, who shadows the action. Judge Dredd on his LawMaster Twin has a sidekick in most of his stories. Abbot has Costello. 'Nuff said. Brutal, yes.
Journalists have been adjusted out of their comfort zones. Two developments in technology might be responsible.First, High Definition Television, and second, Blogging, contribute to the rise or downfall of would-be journalists floating in current seas of the News Business.
With advent of High Definition monitors technology -- you might have noticed -- all the journalists are wearing tons of pancake makeup; more than before High Def TV. I don't even see a nose line in there anymore. [Woe is me: where did you go Sid Lasher?]
As for Blogs and social networks, a story reported today, is shadowed by millions of opposite editorializing, and sometimes un-scrupled devices invented by Blogsters.
What this can do for journalism, one would naturally ask? Mostly, blogging asks pertinent questions about the subject. Who- What- When, has been covered for centuries -- now is the time for HOW and WHY to find their way into journalism! Right?
For instance, I suggest this: if blogging had been around when JFK was murdered, there might not have been the rapid murdering of his killer, his brother Bobby, and brother from another brother MLK. Shoot, maybe Lennon might have escaped and survived if high definition Blogging and social networking were around.
A good blogging on the streets makes our lives more survivable. Blogging might have helped Nixon realize he did not have to resign. We might not have lost a hundred thousand Americans in Vietnam.
Today "Pertinent" needs defining just like everything else. Stop a moment, and consider the Blog. It defines pertinence.
Here is the gist of the matter: Journalists wielded power over politics and entertainers for centuries. And the King would tell the journalist what to say. This led to a tradition that a microcosm of population achieved essentially minority rule. Now monarchs of the elite press groups must face an onslaught of blogger questions, good- bad- and ugly, just to get a paycheck, anymore.
It is in the telling once and future Walter Cronkite wannabes, you are going to fight for your grub-steak; duking it out with us street people. And, well, there you have it. Sure those journalists who have it good are adverse to the change. But Katie and all the rest need to put on more grease paint for me. I never liked being held in the dark.
Now the many of us, Bloggers at large, are the Cats taking out the Norwegian Brown rats.
Like my DePaul Logic Professor, Patrick Kellerher, once said: "Philosophy must be brought back to the streets."
No?

MooPig Opens its New "Land O' Questions Storefront"
In recognition of critical thinking, logic and anti-logic, and the rather disembodied way many feel, MooPig has lent some space to QUESTIONS:
These are the rules for the Store:
1) You can rent space for your argument, on a month to month, week to week, or even hour to hour, paid in advance.
2) Content is to include, but not limited to the following guides:
"Asking questions is a powerful human activity, and because of the power of questions, they can sometimes be experienced as rude or invasive by those who receive them. If you decide to ask someone one or more of the deep questions proposed in the above article, it would help your dialogue if you would begin with the kind of conversational openers described...
QUESTIONS FOR I AND THOU
Whom do I love? By whom am I loved? Am I more loved or loving? How intimate are we? How close is close enough? What are we doing together? Do we help each other broaden and deepen the reach of our caring, to become more compassionate? What clandestine emotions fear, anger, resentment, guilt, shame, sorrow, desire for revenge - keep us from being authentic with each other? When do our vows and promises become a prison from which I and thou must escape to preserve the integrity of our separate beings? Can we renew our passion and commitment? When is it time to say goodbye?

When is it time to say goodbye?

PROBING THE COMMONWEALTH
Who is included within the "we," the community, the polis that encompasses and defines my being? Who is my neighbor? For whom, beyond the circle of my family, do I care? Who are my enemies? To what extremes would I go to defend my country? Can I be just, loving, merciful, and be loyal to my profession, my corporation, my country? If we were to measure our success by Gross National Happiness (the national standard of Bhutan) how would our economic, political, educational, and religious institutions change? What would have to happen to convince sovereign nations to wage peace rather than expending their wealth and creativity in producing more deadly and genocidal weapons?

Think of the crises every Adam and Eve must negotiate as composed of three interlocking circles: identity crises, love crises, social crises.
CROSS EXAMINING THE SELF
What is happening to me? What comes next for me? What is the source and meaning of my restlessness, dissatisfaction, longing, anxiety? What do I really desire? What have I not brought forth that is within me? What have I contributed to life? What are my gifts? My vocation? What ought I to do? Who says? What does my dream-self know that "I" don't? What story, myth, values, authorities, institutions inform my life? What is my ultimate concern? How faithful am I to my best vision of myself? At whose expense has my wealth, security, and happiness been purchased?" (2000)

But we all know why you really want to rent some MooPig space... don't we?
