MooPig Brain Industries :: "Lasting Brain Damage from Sports"

Opinions Expressed are Probably Humorous
Mixed martial articles by Pat Darnell  |  June 9, 2014  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

Truth is that getting hit in the head is stuff of Comedy. Someone gets conked in the head, begins stumbling around, saying nonsensical things, is theater fodder throughout written history.

When I got hit in the head in football, or baseball, or basketball, my dad used to ask me: "Did you see stars?" That was the test for concussion back in my day, eh? If I had not seen stars, then I was okay. In fact either way didn't stop me from going right back into the game.

In MooPig's Bovine Thirst for Information Department, the editor's ran across this cool article:

A Major League Pitcher's Guide To Baseball's Bullshit Unwritten Rules: "Brandon McCarthy thinks vigilantism wouldn't get out of hand because there are more unwritten rules policing that. "In hockey, guys don't take their skates off and slash an opponent's throat with the blade." See, everyone: progress! McCarthy's choice of analogy is not without irony, since hockey is getting pushback against fighting in the wake of increased awareness of lasting brain damage, something McCarthy full well knows the dangers of. Is it not hypocritical to endorse head gear to protect pitchers from line drives, yet endorse fighting and beanballing?"
'via Blog this'

The writer tells stories of sports heroes who have established the myths of unwritten laws in games. Much like the unwritten law of "seeing stars" means a concussion according to my dad. "...(Assuming [a player] survives the barrage of behavior-adjusting fastballs sent at his head in the meantime.)..."

In other words, a bean ball can be an attitude adjuster in baseball, rendering a judgment of long time grudge for a player, inflicting brain damage. Cool, huh? Well, at least is it comical? Says Dirk Hayhurst:
"...If being a humble servant of the game means holding on to grudges for years until the chance to exact revenge presents itself, then my moral compass is off. If being a selfless, I'm only hitting you with this 95 mph fastball because I love you guy is how you play the game the right way, I was happy to play it wrong... When you start inventing rules for why it's OK for you to hurt someone for making you look bad, you're not a gamesman; you're an egomaniac..."
CONCLUSION
Emotional damage, brain damage, and institutional bullying are the basis for unwritten rules of sports.

[Picture LINK] Side Note: On Aug. 16, 1920, Cleveland Indians shortstop Ray Chapman was struck in the head by a pitch. He died a day later, becoming the only player in major league history to die from a pitched ball.

MooPig Wisdom: Seven Years Long, Drawn Out, Evil Empire Drudgery of Whining, Threatening, and Squealing ... PART TWO

It's not over until the Pudgy Dictator says it's over
Part Two by Pat Darnell  |  Nov 4, 2013  |  Bryan TX

MooPig Wisdom: Seven Years Long, Drawn Out, Evil Empire Drudgery of Whining, Threatening, and Squealing ...: PART TWO   |  ..."MooPig wants to know: "What is New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson doing in North Korea? and Bolivia? and hither and yon?"

Bill Richardson former U.S. Ambassador to United Nations, has been on a number of trips to North Korea in the past. He advocates for the release of Americans held by the Pyongyang government. During his trip in January, 2013, Gov Richardson, calls for North Koreans to give "fair and humane treatment" of American Kenneth Bae, who had been detained since November. Along with his advocacy for Bae, Richardson also pressed Pyongyang to halt missile launches and nuclear tests -- requests that will likely have no impact on the North's considerations.

Retired NBA star Dennis Rodman called authoritarian leader Kim Jong Un "awesome" as he departed North Korea at the conclusion of a visit to shoot an episode of a new HBO series.

What is the pudgy boy dictator saying that's so funny?
"Dennis, you know, you got to kill the Girl!"
"Hahahahahaha ..."

MooPig Fact Checker Department :: Boehner's Boners

Weeper of the House, Town Crier
Retrieved by Pat Darnell | Dec 16, 2012 | Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

Things Have Gotten so Bad for John Boehner that Even Hapless CNN is Fact Checking Him:
John Boehner gave a press conference today that was so full of crap that even the ever clueless CNN was forced to fact check and call out his latest fiscal cliff BS.

Everyone seemed to ignore one thing that made Boehner's Thursday press conference new and special: a chart — from Paul Ryan, no less.

'via Blog this'
Boehner armed with a shiny new chart, put together by no-numbers guy Paul Ryan, tried to fool America into not raising taxes on the wealthy while gutting Social Security and Medicare.

Really folks, what kind of man is this? He looks like a typical lying bastard, and his demeanor reminds one of a villain in a Spiderman  movie; stereotypical egomaniac.

Whoosh ... there goes our fiscal planning. Slippery scripted monologues do not produce any good. He is not "hopeful" because his dilettantism won't allow it.

How can we groom fiscal sobriety with this crying, lying, whiskey-upped, House leader of Republican cowards?

We have to remember that these Republican dinosaurs were "put" in place because they would resist change. Change in "normal operations" for the mega-saurus seat-buying corporations that own them, would cost them billions in windfalls, if a change in the tax structure should evolve.

True to their missions, you see a few balking Congressmen airing out their "hapless" ego's at the expense of millions of American's and their livelihoods.

Nice chart, ignominious ignoramus.

MooPig's Elephantine Memory Department :: "Endorsements..."

Mitt Can't Even Win with His Own ...
Retrieved by Pat Darnell | Oct 20, 2012 | Bryan TX

Salt Lake City Tribune endorsement: Too Many Mitts | The Salt Lake Tribune:
" ... Therefore, our endorsement must go to the incumbent, a competent leader who, against tough odds, has guided the country through catastrophe and set a course that, while rocky, is pointing toward a brighter day. The president has earned a second term. Romney, in whatever guise, does not deserve a first. ... "
'via Blog this'

" ... Sadly, it is not the only Romney, as his campaign for the White House has made abundantly clear, first in his servile courtship of the tea party in order to win the nomination, and now as the party’s shape-shifting nominee. From his embrace of the party’s radical right wing, to subsequent portrayals of himself as a moderate champion of the middle class, Romney has raised the most frequently asked question of the campaign: "Who is this guy, really, and what in the world does he truly believe?" ... MooPig Book Review Notes :: Epidemic of Medical Errors

Amazon.com: Epidemic of Medical Errors and Hospital-Acquired Infections: Systemic and Social Causes (9781420089295): William Charney: Books: To go to the Amazon preview of this book click HERE...  scroll to page 1, and read the summary of deaths by medical errors.

EXCERPT  |  " ... The equivalent of six jumbo jets of people dying each day who enter a hospital has created a set of problems that the healthcare delivery system seems unable to solve. A recent study in North Carolina hospitals showed that harm to patients is common, and not devreasing over time. (William Charney, Edt. 2012, Taylor and Francis Group.) ..."

"HYPOTHESIS | " ... Our hypothesis is that health-care delivery system has evolved improperly and has built within itself constructs that lead to medical error and hospital infections. ... In re-framing the discussion, we will look at such macro-issues as "for-profit-care," hierarchies in human relationship systems (bullying), over reliance on technology, stress, health-care working conditions, staffing, ... legal issues that conflict with safety issues..."

    'via Blog this

" ... Mandatory reporting was dead on arrival. By contrast, Americans know exactly how many people die from car accidents each year because lawmakers decided long ago that was a step toward preventing them. Motor vehicle deaths are the No. 1 cause of accidental death in the United States, with more than 43,600 deaths in 2006, according to the CDC. The next three causes — poisoning, firearms and falls — account for 90,000 deaths, combined. (HERE) ... "

If that makes your head swim, that's enough numbers to ponder for now. Is it true 'to err is human?'

Blogging is Pertinent; I'll tell you Why ...

PHOTO
What Blogging Is? ... a Development in Journalism
by Pat Darnell

Blogging developed out of healthy curiosity, as a taunt, a tantalize, and to quicken, in opposition to journalism. Plainly, Associated Press does a great job in getting first line on the facts of a story. And without AP most of us bloggers are SOL ... without a paddle.

Donkey Kong has its Diddy Kong, who shadows the action. Judge Dredd on his LawMaster Twin has a sidekick in most of his stories. Abbot has Costello. 'Nuff said. Brutal, yes.

Journalists have been adjusted out of their comfort zones. Two developments in technology might be responsible.First, High Definition Television, and second, Blogging, contribute to the rise or downfall of would-be journalists floating in current seas of the News Business.

With advent of High Definition monitors technology -- you might have noticed -- all the journalists are wearing tons of pancake makeup; more than before High Def TV. I don't even see a nose line in there anymore. [Woe is me: where did you go Sid Lasher?]

As for Blogs and social networks, a story reported today, is shadowed by millions of opposite editorializing, and sometimes un-scrupled devices invented by Blogsters.

What this can do for journalism, one would naturally ask? Mostly, blogging asks pertinent questions about the subject. Who- What- When, has been covered for centuries -- now is the time for HOW and WHY to find their way into journalism! Right?

For instance, I suggest this:  if blogging had been around when JFK was murdered, there might not have been the rapid murdering of his killer, his brother Bobby, and brother from another brother MLK. Shoot, maybe Lennon might have escaped and survived if high definition Blogging and social networking were around.

A good blogging on the streets makes our lives more survivable. Blogging might have helped Nixon realize he did not have to resign. We might not have lost a hundred thousand Americans in Vietnam.

Today "Pertinent" needs defining just like everything else. Stop a moment, and consider the Blog. It defines pertinence.

Here is the gist of the matter: Journalists wielded power over politics and entertainers for centuries. And the King would tell the journalist what to say. This led to a tradition that a microcosm of population achieved essentially minority rule.  Now monarchs of the elite press groups must face an onslaught of blogger questions, good- bad- and ugly, just to get a paycheck, anymore.

It is in the telling once and future Walter Cronkite wannabes, you are going to fight for your grub-steak; duking it out with us street people. And, well, there you have it. Sure those journalists who have it good are adverse to the change. But Katie and all the rest need to put on more grease paint for me. I never liked being held in the dark.

Now the many of us, Bloggers at large, are the Cats taking out the Norwegian Brown rats.

Like my DePaul Logic Professor, Patrick Kellerher, once said: "Philosophy must be brought back to the streets."

No?
PHOTO:  TV face -- A condition in which a person's face becomes too relaxed from staring at the same thing too long (watching TV). Symptoms are: open mouth, dropped jaw, eyes glazed over and occasional drooling.

If Truth be Told...

Phase One: In Search of A Bonafide Marketing Strategy
Speech by T. A. Muckabout: A Five-Year Plan

My name is Thomas A. Muckabout, the newest Manager of Marketing of IPTCo. I am here to practice despotism and nepotism, pontificate clarity of separatist idioms, especially gender; reverse discrimination, radicalize racism, and deplete division of labor. We will start our week on Sunday, all the while promote 32 hour work week and other miss-useful benefits in new global corporate America.

I will strategize, and extricate while I over sell, then intimidate and pressure workers to set unreachable production goals, let maintenance suffer, and bully the competition. Then the top management will feel pressured to hire fresh MBA’s from all over the country, who under me will strategize to pyramid the profits into bonuses for top management. Then three words for our factories: relocate; relocate; relocate. I will hire accountants to manage the factories, and project managers to run the accounting. I will recruit eager field representatives and send them out with expensive promotions that IPTCo cannot possibly fulfill.

After all that, we will go public with our funds, IPO, appear to climb quickly clinging to a repressed hope, that millions will spend millions to perpetuate our product line. After five years, I will offer my resignation, and will retire from IPTCo with a large percent of stock in my control, that I will use to leverage my position to be on the board of trustees of competing companies. The globe is ours to segment!

At some point, I will be elected to office and practice unlimited spending on programs that promote my philosophy.

Ouch!
Although it is an invitation for an exciting ride, many of us would be reluctant to ride that roller coaster; in context of the example of the forceful fictional candidate above. Many do not realize the potential for absolute corruption by those with absolute power. But, is this character a fiction? Sometimes we find out too late that fiction is not too far away: Truth is stranger than fiction.

The hazard is in loss of benefit in working in corporations run this way.

Owners of companies are desperate after their first three years of asking and begging in finding rudimentary funding, wooing, cajoling, compromising, retailing, micro managing, and not sleeping, to find trustworthy people who can put the quality where the mouth is. Yet putting the marketing into the hands of promotion geniuses may be the last thing the company ever does.

In the world of litigation and lackluster signage, the usual conventions of marketers past are letting companies and patrons down.
