MooPig 'Stuff No One Wants to Hear About' Department :: "Drones"

It's 2014, and what do we have? Drones... Yay?!
Retrieved articles by Pat Darnell  |  Jan 5, 2014  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK] ... victims of drone strikes were hopeful for the implementation of their fundamental right to life ...

" ... One of the few certainties about wars is that prime ministers and presidents will always send young men to fight and die in them. (Paul Daley. 18 December 2013. LINK) ... Then those same leaders will just as certainly insist that the human, social, financial and political cost has been worth it ... "

MooPig Waging War Editorial Department has a viewpoint on the question: is war in Afghanistan worth the price? When 21st Century politicians in USA and its allies looked at their war chests, they discovered a multitude of weapons research and development work had been done. But none of these new age weapons had been tested in war. So, like Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice, sort of a four brained monster, looked around the globe for a suitable testing ground.

[Picture LINK]

Someone talked the Saudis into funding an attack on the USA, and thus is born the magnanimous Pearl Harbor of the 21st Century, "9/11." This gave the four brained monster its go ahead for a war in the sparsely populated deserts of the Middle East. Good call, because we could now test all our high tech weaponry. What a hey day for Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice, and our million man military.

"We were just looking for someone's ass to kick," said our politicians at the time.

The World Can't Wait! Stop the Crimes of Your Government: " She worked on the US drone program. The public should know what really goes on Covert Drone War  | Heather Linebaugh | December 29, 2013  |  EXCERPT  | " ... Few of the politicians who so brazenly proclaim the benefits of drones have a real clue how it actually works (and doesn't) Whenever I read comments by politicians defending the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Predator and Reaper program – aka drones – I wish I could ask them a few questions. I'd start with: "How many women and children have you seen incinerated by a Hellfire missile?" ..."

Many, many, many people "see the United States as the oppressor, as the perpetrator, the violator of Pakistan sovereignty, so it is very difficult, extremely difficult for the people on the ground in the tribal areas to defend or support something that is killing members of militant groups" and accidentally killing innocent people in the process. (VOA News. March 15, 2013. LINK)
" ... EXCERPT  |  ... U.S. officials rarely discuss the use of drones against terrorists, though they say privately civilian casualties are minimal.

Imtiaz Gul says his researchers found the collateral damage is significant.

"Largely the pattern that emerged, in most of the cases, regardless of whether there was also a legitimate target present or not, a lot of innocent people, women and children also lost their lives," he said. (ibid. VOA News.)..."
'via Blog this'

Some more questions come to mind as we meander through drone articles. How does a drone analyst become a Drone Flying Ace? Does the controller analyst get her kudos from not killing any one, thus an Ace; or does she become an Ace for killing the most?

For instance it's all about a body count:
" ... 26 Dec 2013: Drone fired two missiles at a home in a northwestern tribal region of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, Pakistani ..."
"...31 Dec 2013: Strikes this year 2013 are estimated to have killed up to 271 people, down from 2012 figure of between 505 and 532..."
"...Heather Linebaugh | December 29, 2013. "...I knew the names of some of the young soldiers I saw bleed to death on the side of a road. I watched dozens of military-aged males die in Afghanistan, in empty fields, along riversides, and some right outside the compound where their family was waiting for them to return home from the mosque...."
" ...20 Dec 2013: Clive Stafford Smith: Response: Drones are killing civilians in Pakistan and Yemen, while Britain refuses to admit its co-operation with illegal US attacks... "
"...Reuters in Sana'a and Spencer Ackerman, Thursday 12 December 2013 | ... Hammond's snapshot of what he calls the "precision" RPA is presented in the same week as the latest drone atrocity, with at least 15 Yemeni people slaughtered in what turned out to be a convoy of wedding guests, not al-Qaida terrorists...."
" ...Clive Stafford Smith. Friday 20 December 2013 ... And neither the US nor the UK will say how many civilians they think they are killing, although we at Reprieve represent more than 150 civilian victims and families of those killed in drone strikes ..."
Slaughter of civilians while trolling for terrorists, that is what we are in store for this year and next. And it is no joke, there are FAA studies to make drones available in USA skies by 2015. The drone program is being expanded and is being tested in "Alaska, Nevada, New York, North Dakota, Texas and Virginia who will host the research sites, the agency said. They were chosen from among 24 states bidding to host the program. (Associated Press in Las Vegas. Monday 30 December 2013. LINK)"

As a matter of fact, the USA is drone crazy: "...Drones have been mainly used by the military but governments, businesses, farmers and others are making plans to join the market. Many universities are starting or expanding drone programs (ibid. AP in LV.)... The FAA projects that some 7,500 commercial drones could be aloft within five years of being given widespread access to American airspace..."

CONCLUSION
Drones are here to stay. We inherit them from our 21st Century military. Commercial use in American airspace is only a year away. Will the effectiveness of drones always be determined by body counts? And, what's to keep American homeowners from shooting drones down?

Critics say: "...The growing drone industry has critics among conservatives and liberals. Giving drones greater access to US skies moves the nation closer to “a surveillance society in which our every move is monitored, tracked, recorded and scrutinized by the authorities”, the American Civil Liberties Union declared in a report last December (ibid. AP in LV.)..."

MooPig Sports Trough :: "UFC Fight of the Night"

Eight Up UFC Fighters
Discombobulated by Pat Darnell  |  Dec 21, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK] Women participate in UFC mixed martial arts octagon fighting on Sat Dec 6th.

The UFC had a reputation, especially in the early days, as an extremely violent event, as evidenced by a disclaimer in the beginning of the UFC 5 broadcast which warned audiences of the violent nature of the sport.

If there is a body part that receives the most damage in mixed martial arts, I would have to say the ears. If you ever question whether a person's claim is that they are a fighter, look at their ears, and if they look like cauliflower, then his claim is probably true.

EXCERPT | " ... Hunt, who battled Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva in the night's heavyweight draw-card, required surgery after suffering a broken hand and face during the bout.

[Picture LINK] Although these two fighters went five rounds only to end in a majority draw, they both won their bonuses from UFC and FON -- Fight of the Night -- honors. That's Silva on the right.

" ... It was no surprise both Hunt and Silva required medical attention. The pair recorded a combined 184 strikes during their bout - the highest amount in UFC heavyweight history. (December 11, 2013. Marissa Calligeros. LINK) ..."
" ... The caged ring, known as the Octagon, is banned in Western Australia and Victoria.
However the sport's popularity appears to be growing, with the takings at the gate on Saturday, December 6th, 2013, topping $1.8 million. ... "
Eight UFC fighters in hospital after Brisbane fight night: "More than one-third of participants in the Ultimate Fighting Championship Fight Night held at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre ended the night in hospital. Main card Australian fighters Mark Hunt, 39, and Dylan Andrews, 34, topped the long injury list coming out of Saturday's event. Eight of the 22 competing fighters were taken to hospital, including two rushed by ambulance to St Andrew's Hospital."

'via Blog this'

MooPig has a jones for bloodsport UFC style. We like to find clandestine cage fighting on late night, early morning, cable TV. We watch and squirm as the fighters unleash hours of trained, specialized, blood letting techniques in mixed martial arts upon each other.

Edge of suburbia, white flight we city dwellers desire and cherish blood sport. The sport of blood has developed NERO-ian dirty boxing face of chain link with sponsors like Jack's Links. Barefoot and almost bare knuckled, almost Colosseum gigantic, due to TV audience, and wearing garb from their Dojo's, MMA participants are amazing athletes. (LINK)

We found this report from the Brisbane Times of a recent bout where a third of the contestants were hospitalized after their bouts. YIKES!
"... In one of the greatest fights in Ultimate Fighting Championship history, Mark Hunt and Antonio ''Bigfoot'' Silva battled to a majority draw on Saturday. ... The UFC's Australian director of operations, Tom Wright described the fight, seen by 11,383 fans at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, as the best heavyweight contest he'd ever seen.(December 7, 2013. Dan Nancarrow. LINK) ..."
" ... ''Bigfoot'' was bleeding heavily in the final round, and two judges scored it 10-8 to Hunt. The result was one judge scoring the fight 48-47 to Hunt while the other two judges scored the bout 47-47, leading to one of the rarest decisions in mixed martial arts: a majority draw. (December 8, 2013. Liam Ducey. LINK) ..."

CONCLUSION
MooPig has been watching the UFC from its beginning. The first UFC event was held in 1993 in Denver, Colorado. The purpose of the event was to identify the most effective martial art in a real fight between competitors of different fighting disciplines, including Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Sambo, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Karate, Judo, and other styles.

UFC has its roots in clandestine bare knuckle fighting, correlated with mixed martial arts training. Its octagon shaped cage gives fighters greater room to use their skills, more area to set up kicks and perform take downs. In take downs, grappling occurs as fighters use wrestling, and jiu jitsu joint locks, and throw downs. Most fights are three five minute rounds. Most fighters throw up to a hundred strikes in a fight, sometimes more. Take downs also score points if the fight goes to a decision by the three judges.

There are some rules like not hitting or kicking the back of the head, and not hitting or kicking below the belt, no head butting. Sometimes a fighter gets a finger to his eye, and the fight is paused for him to recoup. Gloves are worn to cut down on cutting that would come from bare knuckles. Elbows, shins, feet, knees, dirty boxing, are all otherwise fair to use in this modern day bloodsport.

UPDATE
" ... Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, who fought for the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title in
May, tested positive for an excessive level of testosterone after his Dec. 6 draw in Australia against Mark Hunt.

In addition to surrendering his $50,000 fight-of-the-night bonus following the bloody battle, Silva is suspended for nine months, the UFC said in a statement. (Lance Pugmire. December 18, 2013. LINK) ..."

UPDATE !!! MooPig Dance Trends Department :: "Zendaya’s Debut"

Youth Spirals Past the Geezers of Dance
Disambiguate'd by Pat Darnell and Plethora  |  Mar 18, 2013  |  Bryan TX

This is Dancing With the Stars Debut History. Youth explodes and runs past all the Geezers who would be dancing stars. Call Zendaya the only brightest spiral galaxy in an otherwise black hole of reality television madness. Call it what you want, but I never would have watched this ridiculous show if it were not for the champion effort of Zendaya and Val Chmerkovsky.
" ... Z[endaya] did actually stand out last night though, and we're not just biased. She earned the top spot with 24 points out of a possible 30.

We don't want to jinx it, but we totally think she's going to win this season. Check out Zendaya's DWTS debut in the video below, and don't forget to vote for her all season long!

More on: dancing with the stars, zendaya coleman (Posted 2 hours 48 min ago by Rachel Samara for Global Grind Staff. Read more: LINK) ... "

Some of you might know that MooPig Family was once on a TV Reality show called: "Honey, We're Killing the Kids." We kicked ass on that show, and we know the difference between schlumps and schumpeters.

MooPig Odds Maker Department says, "Our money is on Zendaya to win, 100 to 1." Zendaya chuckles all the way to the bank, she's just sixteen!

MooPig Dance Trends Department :: "Zendaya’s Debut"

Access Hollywood Says: ...
Disambiguate'd by Pat Darnell and Plethora  |  Mar 18, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

Zendaya’s Dancing With The Stars Blog: Getting Ready For Premiere Night!: "Last week we wrapped Season 3 of “Shake It Up” and I already miss my “Shake It Up” family. My TV brother Roshon was on “DWTS” and he has been giving me a lot of advice. He was like, listen, what you need to know is to blow your nose before you go out on stage. Because it’s live, snot will fly! I think that’s genius advice and I’m definitely going to have that in the back of my mind when we perform tonight! -- Zendaya"

'via Blog this'

Okay so it is attrition time. Pull an orange card from the Attrition Game Deck ...

MooPig Dance Trends Department has been following the career of Zendaya and her cohorts of Disney's "Shake It Up!" kids TV. The kids on the show are dancers on a local TV show called "Shake It Up Chicago," so, they are in a show about a show. Zendaya 's name on the show is Rocky, and her best friend is CeCe, real name: Bella Thorne.

What we noticed first time we saw the show was that none of the regulars could dance a lick. but that does not stop the General Audience rated action. We found the show refreshing, so we channel back to watch for new episodes.

Well, it is only the third season, and already star actress Zendaya is Dancing With The Stars, DWTS, tonight. so for sure we will tune in.

When asked "Why the one name billing for you, Zendaya?" She replies "My Dad made up the name and like 'Madonna,' you know, Zendaya!"

That is attrition in all its glory. Move over Madge, Beyonce, Charo, and the rest ... Zendaya!

Captain Jack Sparrow

Some Back Story:
Our very own Webmaster Greg recently went to see the talented Selena Gomez as she kicked off her new nationwide tour at the Orange County Fair on Sunday July 24th. Disney had also invited some various actors to the show including Adam Irigoyen (Deuce, Shake It Up), Caroline Sunshine (Tinka, Shake It Up) Bella Thorne (CeCe, Shake It Up), and Stefanie Scott (Lexi, ANT Farm). Selena did a total of 18 songs, including songs from all three of her studio albums with an obvious emphasis on the newest album.

An intelligence quotient, or IQ, is a score derived from one of several different standardized tests designed to assess intelligence. The term "IQ", from the German Intelligenz-Quotient, was devised by the German psychologist William Stern in 1912[1] as a proposed method of scoring early modern children's intelligence tests such as those developed by Alfred Binet and Théodore Simon in the early 20th Century.[2]

Although the term "IQ" is still in common use, the scoring of modern IQ tests such as the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale is now based on a projection of the subject's measured rank on the Gaussian bell curve with a center value (average IQ) of 100, and a standard deviation of 15, although not all tests adhere to that standard deviation.

IQ scores have been shown to be associated with such factors as morbidity and mortality,[3] parental social status,[4] and to a substantial degree, parental IQ. While its inheritance has been investigated for nearly a century, controversy remains as to how much is inheritable, and the mechanisms of inheritance are still a matter of some debate.[5]
IQ scores are used in many contexts: as predictors of educational achievement or special needs, by social scientists who study the distribution of IQ scores in populations and the relationships between IQ score and other variables, and as predictors of job performance and income.

The average IQ scores for many populations have been rising at an average rate of three points per decade since the early 20th century with most of the increase in the lower half of the IQ range: a phenomenon called the Flynn effect. It is disputed whether these changes in scores reflect real changes in intellectual abilities, or merely methodological problems with past or present testing. (wkpda)
