MooPig Follow-up Department :: "War Crimes of Bush Era"

Is Germany Filing War Crimes Charges Against George Bush And Dick Cheney?: "The problem with the stories from Ryan Denson and Tiffany Willis (besides from being very misleading and using large chunks of the original text with a couple of words changed) is that human rights groups don’t have the ability to indict anybody for war crimes. The German government could take up the case as this group has requested, but doing so would jeopardize German relations with the United States, which is a strong ally and fellow member of NATO. In addition to that, Brookings points out that indicting anyone for war crimes and attempting to prosecute them creates diplomatic issues that have to be taken into careful consideration."

"...Cheney’s claim that he would approve torture again highlights a key question: Are top officials above the law, and will the impunity of today lead to more abuses in the future? The question spans a wide chain of command from Cheney, President Bush and other White House officials, who kickstarted the torture program after 9/11; to the lawyers in the Justice Department, who drafted the memos providing legal cover; to the CIA officials, who implemented the abuses and misled Congress and the public; and to the military psychologists, who helped devise the techniques inflicted on prisoners at U.S. military prisons and secret black sites across the globe..." (Gonzalez, Juan--Democracy NOW! Dec 19, 2014. LINK)

CONCLUSION
The issue is "Did we torture or did we not torture?" There is no middle ground for this activity so loved by Cheney and Dubya, Rumsfeld and Rice. Torture is still amoral, up there with cannibalism, and only in America could these people get away with it, is what we are telling the world?

If I were Dubya, Cheney or the others I would drink myself blind and shoot myself. But that won't happen. So, more questions are raised than can be answered.

Dan Froomkin - Bush Thumbs Nose at Congress

We're going to go out on a Limb, but, 'Dubya' Bush was a Sneaky Bast*rd
Not PC, Re-framed by Pat Darnell | Dec 29, 2012 | Bryan TX
[Picture LINK]

Dan Froomkin - Bush Thumbs Nose at Congress:
In 2008 the Democrats controlled the House, and 'Dubya' Bush thumbed his nose at them. He conveniently abused his power to ignore certain protocols of legislation that were put in place to balance powers of Houses and Executive, especially in spending for military bases and for declarations of war.
" ... It's about as basic as it gets: Congress has the power of the purse. And Section 1222 of the massive defense appropriation bill enacted this week [Wednesday, January 30, 2008] asserts that power. It reads, in its entirety:

"No funds appropriated pursuant to an authorization of appropriations in this Act may be obligated or expended for a purpose as follows:

"(1) To establish any military installation or base for the purpose of providing for the permanent stationing of United States Armed Forces in Iraq.

"(2) To exercise United States control of the oil resources of Iraq."  ( Dan Froomkin. washington post. Wednesday, January 30, 2008; HERE) ... "
    'via Blog this'
What Dubya did was to not veto any bills from the Democratic led Congress. He signed all the bills and invited all the authors to a grandiose signing photo op ... then afterwards he made Executive Notes called: "signing statements" on those bills. He did not intend to follow much of those bills. What a ruse, eh?
" ... But it's Bush's cavalier dismissal of the ban on funding for permanent military bases that really speaks volumes -- not just about his view of the role of the legislative branch, but also about his intentions for Iraq. ... " (ibid.)
All we at MooPig Political Round Ball Department can figure is that 'Dubya' Bush wanted it to look like he was actually working, when in fact " ... Calls to several Presidential libraries reveal that President Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush, was on vacation more — 1,020 days — than any U.S. President since Herbert Hoover and possibly more than any other President in history. (Lauren Victoria Burke. May 08, 2012. HERE)... "

Bush's surreptitious scheme to "quietly assert his right to ignore legislation passed by Congress – including its ban on torture – first came to light in January [2006] due to some aggressive reporting by Boston Globe reporter Charlie Savage. (Charlie Savage, Globe Staff | January 4, 2006)"
" ... January 4, 2006

WASHINGTON -- When President Bush last week signed the bill outlawing the torture of detainees, he quietly reserved the right to bypass the law under his powers as commander in chief. (ibid.) ... "
CONCLUSION
'Dubya' Bush set precedence that others will surely follow. He was a lazy, anti-democracy, evil-doer, bully, who was raised in Washington, DC environment by his "public servant" dad.

MooPig is sorry that it could not break the codes of the past better while it parlayed through the Bush lame duck years.

We failed you, our faithful reader.

Judgment Day -- What kind of Judgment?

War in Libya
by Pat Darnell

[LINK]  |  EXCERPT   |   " ... Under the War Powers Act, the President has 60 days to get authorization from Congress for any military involvement, and if he fails to get that authorization, he must end the involvement within 30 days.

The 60-day authorization period expired on Friday [May 20, 2011].

On Friday, President Obama belatedly and haughtily sent a letter to Congress seeking authorization. That letter said: "It has always been my view that it is better to take military action, even in limited actions such as this, with congressional engagement, consultation and support. Congressional action in support of the mission would underline the U.S. commitment to this remarkable international effort."

Note the phrase “it is better.” Obama acts as though getting approval from Congress is a mere option, not the law or the Constitution that he is obliged to follow. Genocide, or Out for a Stroll? No Matter What it is Odd

Retrieved by Pat Darnell
[SOURCE] Living outside of Gaza one cannot fully understand the barbarity of this genocide especially when the Western media had barely covered any of its atrocity. To gain a slight idea of its enormity one should remember that, during the 6-days war of 1967, this same Israeli army was distributed on four fronts; Egyptian, Jordanian, Syrian, and Lebanese, and it was fighting regular armies. Now the whole brunt of this army is concentrated on a small strip against unarmed and untrained civilian population.

Latest official count was 1350 murdered, 40% of them were children, and 5300 were injured; mutilated and amputated. It was reported that 80% of the injured were the victims of burning phosphorous bombs. More dead are being discovered under the rebels, and many seriously injured are expected later on to die.

Israeli tanks had left several city blocks completely destroyed without any homes or structure standing. The tanks shelled homes and apartment towers. Due to the small size of Gaza Strip Palestinians had to build vertically. Many apartment towers went up 15-20 stories high with each story containing 6-8 apartments.

A total of 20,000 buildings were completely or partially burnt and damaged. The UN has reported that more than 50,000 Palestinians are left homeless and are now crowded into 50 emergency shelters.

An estimated of 50,000 more are living with relatives and in tents they erected on the ruins of their homes.

The Israeli bombardment targeted everything in Gaza including government buildings, police headquarters, banks and business offices, the main university, 67 schools sheltering civilians, shopping centers and market places, factories, water, sewer, and electricity infrastructures, private homes and apartment towers and charity organizations.

Behold: AGGIE Drum Sticks

...and The AGGIE Drum Corps' lastest Recruit>>>> Buckethead... HUH?

Yeah, this performance looks like it was choreographed by Michael Jackson standing in for Madonna. What makes people act on impulse is pretty much what AGGIE football is all about. Scary, eh?

"So, welcome, mister.... uh; Bucket Head, is it? Okay, yes welcome. That pre-Obama KFC slur will go well here in Bush's Town. Prairie View A and M is down the road, if you want to visit there as well; just turn right as Wilson's Chicken."

In Review -- After the nunchuck thing, I noticed B-Head zipped through my entire repertoire in about 43 seconds after he picked up the guitar. So, that put me in the audience of teeming trillions who tried to see the jumbotron from outer spaces synchronicity. How far can you throw a fret anyway?

The crowd can be labeled in rows. Let me explain... the front is for those who don't mind close quarter moshing, shoving, sort of the vanguards, or advanced guard of the LGBiTg crowds. The last rows are the skeptics who usually say, "This blows." But in between are the stoics, and Goombahs. These are the ones who will show up when you ask them to go on a hundred mile bike ride this Sunday; or we need one more for the Rugby match on this Saturday.

The middle is the church ladies who want to rock out, but not tooo closely to others. Let me see that smile; and of course we know how church ladies would love to do the nunchuck thing.

CountDown to Barry's Big Day

by Pat Darnell
I am afraid, though, that war in Gaza is going to trump Barry Obama's big day.

The offense was showing motion in the backfield on TV early the Sunday morning when Israeli ground forces sauntered into Gaza.

I had the channel set to DIRECT TV News Mix so I could drift around eight channels and get several perspectives. Somewhere a signal put the Israel ground forces into motion. (continued)

Obama, Spider-Man Appear In Inauguration Marvel Comic, LISA TOLIN | January 8, 2009
WASHINGTON — Spider-Man has a new sidekick: The president-elect.

Barack Obama collected Spider-Man comics as a child, so Marvel Comics wanted to give him a "shout-out back" by featuring him in a bonus story, said Joe Quesada, Marvel's editor-in-chief.

"How great is that? The commander in chief to be is actually a nerd in chief," Quesada said. "It was really, really cool to see that we had a geek in the White House. We're all
thrilled with that." [LISA TOLIN | January 8, 2009; HERE]

(continued from top) Suddenly a vacuum pulled the heft out of the ballsy anchors of late, late night... in the wee hours, because no "talking heads" or "Israel/Palestinian" former speech writers, or "Heads of State" were awake. I thanked the heavens for the quiet.

I laughed so heartily that the neighbors rooster crowed. News anchors of that hour, including Geraldo, began filling the twilight with the most ridiculous bunch of crap I have ever heard.

"Uh, there's smoke," said one. Another said "We have just been informed that Israeli ground troops have *[grudgingly]* started across the borders into Gaza..."

"I guess so!!!" I shouted at the boob tube.

So I went to the web and found a neglected story in the making. But the announcers must have been calling "analysts" in their sleep as someone somewhere was startled from deep sleep and said something about Obama arriving in Washington with his family... blahh blahhh... *[click]*

I truly have enjoyed my year of following our campaigns, elections and this last event of inauguration. I am afraid, though, that war in Gaza is going to trump Barry Obama's big day. (fin) Pat. Pend.
