MooPig Inventor Minute Department :: Dean Kamen--An Inventor’s Unconventional Life
This Machine is Designed to Make 1000 Liters of Clean Water a Day...
Mixed Mashed Article by Pat Darnell | Nov 29, 2014 | BryanTX
"...'The myth of invention,' he said, 'is that innovators like Kamen “snap their fingers and things happen. The reality is that it can take 20 years to make something happen.”
"...What Kamen does differently from other entrepreneurs or business people, and what makes him successful, Lazarus said, is that he looks at a problem from the bottom up, rather than the top down. And he doesn’t take “no” for an answer (Nicola Smith. Friday, August 8, 2014. LINK)..."
An Inventor’s Unconventional Life | Valley News: "Kamen has spent his life coming up with ideas for how to make life better for people — better dialysis machines, better wheelchairs, better heart stents. He’s probably best known for inventing the Segway, a motorized scooter that he hoped would reduce our reliance on cars for transportation. Although it generated enormous press, the Segway didn’t quite take off the way Kamen anticipated it would. What becomes clear as the 93-minute film progresses is how little Kamen cares about doing things the conventional way"
'via Blog this'
"...There is a eureka moment when Kamen realizes that there is one multi-national corporation that gets its product into the remotest of places, and that is the Coca-Cola Co. So Kamen goes after Coca-Cola to team up on distributing the systems, and persuades company officials to sign on. Even so, that’s hardly the end of the story.
“There are 206 countries with 206 different solutions. Nothing you do in Ghana applies to Ecuador and nothing you do in Ecuador applies to Mexico,” Lazarus said. (ibid. Nicola Smith)..."
CONCLUSION
Dean Kamen has the ability to think from the bottom up on problems of catastrophic proportions. A billion people worldwide without clean water sparks his ingenuity. He then invents, designs, and builds a solution.

MooPig Site Review :: "Dean Kamen's New Stirling Engine will Get you Off the Grid"
"...Will the utility-run electric grid only be used as back up to consumers and businesses? (LINK)..."
Mixed Martial Articles by Pat Darnell | Nov 29, 2014 | Bryan TX
[Picture LINK (10-26-12)]
That's a great question. American industry stumbles along when it comes to long term commitments to energy sources other than our standard pole and wire power supply. No one in North America is independent of our electric grid. We all plug in our devices and run our things from our 100 year-old utility-run grid.
"... It’s amazing that in this day and age, when investment bankers routinely take home $50 million paychecks, we can’t seem to work out how to help the majority of people on this planet from being at risk through lack of water and power. Astonishing. Here’s hoping things change sooner rather than later (Nigel. red ferret. March 29, 2008. LINK)..."
Segway Inventor Dean Kamen Thinks His New Stirling Engine Will Get You Off The Grid For Under $10K: "The Stirling is quieter than an internal combustion engine, and it’s more efficient because the heat is retained inside the engine to do more work rather than allowed to escape to the environment."
'via Blog this'
CONCLUSION
So in 10 years will everyone have one?
“I’d say yes. Ten years from today the probability that you are depending on wires hanging on tree branches is as likely as that you’ll still be installing land lines for telephones. Close to zero. (ibid. Forbes)”

"...Though Stirlings are highly efficient, they haven’t caught on because it takes them a while to warm up and they can’t change power output quickly. That makes them unworkable for cars and trucks, but potentially ideal both for power generation and water heating. More than just a backup generator, these machines, depending on the price of natural gas, could also provide round-the-clock power to a home or business. Beats solar panels (LINK)..."”We don’t think we should be just selling a box,” says Kamen. “We think we should be part of a system of the future, powering the evolution of microgrids.” (ibid. Forbes) Fuel for his engine is not a problem, "... 'We have powered them using cow dung in Bangladesh, and even by burning olive oil,' Kamen says..."

MooPig Brain Industries :: "Drugs"
"Be prepared to let evidence dictate what you think."
Retrieved by Pat Darnell | Jan 11, 2014 | Bryan TX
Jan 22, 2014... UPDATE: Read entire Democracy NOW article HERE ...
[Picture LINK] " ... I'm glad I have the life that I have, because I can think. I will be relevant in terms of the public discourse on an issue that I care about. ..."
Often times regular people find extraordinary lives to live. That is, Carl Hart rebounded from his hard knocks childhood to become a professor and sensational researcher.
Meet Carl Hart, the Scientist Debunking America's Myths About Drugs - PolicyMic: "GG: Your findings went against what scientists were saying in the late '90s. Did you feel any pushback from the scientific community?
CH: That study ran in 2000, and it mostly went unnoticed! Back then, science was enamoured with the brain, but we didn't have any brain imaging in the study, so we were met with, "Who cares?" I did a subsequent study with methamphetamine addicts — same results. But they just ignored it! Only now has that study received some attention, in part because of my book."
'via Blog this'
CONCLUSION
Carl Hart's interview speaks much on enlightening young people on the use of drugs. Instead of setting them up to think "they have to be perfect, flawless, with no bad habits" which is ludicrous, rather teach them to know the truth about all these amply available drugs. "We teach young people to use seat belts when they drive, to use condoms when sexually active, so why don't we teach the truth about using drugs (paraphrased)?"
Carl Hart is imagining a culture that doesn't just spout off axioms, slogans, platitudes, and beatitudes, but actually goes further and describes the real reasons behind the rules. Our present societal norms create young people who like himself, Carl Hart:

Through his drug research, he has endeavored to address the issues facing marginalized black communities like his own — though his own understanding of those issues has evolved. "I thought that I was going to solve the problem of drug addiction," he told the New York Times. MooPig Government Regulations Department :: "What doesn't FDA regulate?
Transparency in the FDA
mashed articles by Pat Darnell | Dec 29, 2013 | Bryan TX
[Picture LINK unknown]
I am doing the right thing this morning. I am sorting through the FDA Gov site, and trying to wrap my mind around it.
Everything today seems like it is a Federal Case. We at MooPig Government Regulations Department are inundated with reports by whistle-blowers from within Government Regulatory Offices. Who to believe? Where do we draw the line to the cynicism that all this mess causes, until the American people just throw their hands up in surrender?
This is a good question. Our FDA does not regulate everything you think it would.
FDA Basics :: What doesn’t FDA regulate? How do I contact the agencies that do?: "What doesn't FDA regulate? How do I contact the agencies that do?
FDA does not regulate:
Let's look at one product line, shall we? Advertising in Tobacco. From FDA Transparency files we have this slide show:
CONCLUSION
It's a mess. I could spend a whole school term on this FDA web site. What stands out is their commitment to transparency. However, I cannot find any tidbits concerning "in-house whistle-blowers at the FDA." For those we must travel Google source maps, such as Former FDA reviewer speaks out about intimidation, retaliation and marginalizing of safety (By Martha Rosenberg Posted on August 22, 2012).
" ... Government agencies cannot discourage whistle-blowing and reporting of wrongdoing by monitoring employees, echoed a White House memo sent to all government agencies about the FDA spy program. (ibid. Martha Rosenberg. LINK ) ... "

This is a good question. Our FDA does not regulate everything you think it would.
FDA Basics :: What doesn’t FDA regulate? How do I contact the agencies that do?: "What doesn't FDA regulate? How do I contact the agencies that do?
FDA does not regulate:
- advertising (except for prescription drugs, medical devices, and tobacco products)
- some consumer products, such as paint, child-resistant packages, baby toys, and household appliances (except for those that give off radiation)
- illegal drugs of abuse, such as heroin and marijuana
- health insurance meat and poultry (except for game meats, such as venison, ostrich, and snake)
- restaurants and grocery stores
- vaccines for infectious animal diseases
- pesticides (FDA, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Environmental Protection Agency regulate these)
- water (FDA regulates the labeling and safety of bottled water, while the Environmental Protection Agency develops national standards for drinking water from municipal water supplies)"
Let's look at one product line, shall we? Advertising in Tobacco. From FDA Transparency files we have this slide show:
Tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death and disease in the U.S.
- Tobacco dependence is a life-threatening condition There are 45 million smokers in the
- U.S. and 440,000 people die every year Each day in the United States
Are you already bored with bullet presentations? I am. Let's push on:
- 3,600 kids under 18 years of age smoke their first cigarette, and over 700 kids become regular smokers (Slide 3)
FDA’s ability to enact science-based regulation has the true potential to reduce the death and disease toll from the most harmful products
- A main goal is to have a country free of tobacco related disease and death
- Passage of the Tobacco Control Act means that FDA has many tools to help meet that goal
- FDA regulates an extremely addictive and toxic product
- But people smoke for the nicotine while dying from the tar
- Ongoing debate about how to regulate products based upon where they fit on a “continuum of risk” given their toxicities and how they are used (Slide 12)
" ... The agency, [FDA], using so-called spy software designed to help employers monitor workers, captured screen images from the government laptops of the five scientists as they were being used at work or at home. The software tracked their keystrokes, intercepted their personal e-mails, copied the documents on their personal thumb drives and even followed their messages line by line as they were being drafted, the documents show. (ERIC LICHTBLAU and SCOTT SHANE. Published: July 14, 2012. LINK ) ..."For instnace: looking for guidance on the fda.gov site is going to be a tough search for anyone trying to figure out how to guard against youth using tobacco products. Smokers' smoke for the nicotine, and die from the tar, that is a fact. But, does transparency refer to this type of searching, or to its internal investigations of its employees and their governmental contacts all over the world?
" ... Government agencies cannot discourage whistle-blowing and reporting of wrongdoing by monitoring employees, echoed a White House memo sent to all government agencies about the FDA spy program. (ibid. Martha Rosenberg. LINK ) ... "

MooPig Home Schooling Department :: "Twerp and His Kin"
Critical Mass Thinking
Mashed by Pat Darnell | July 9, 2013 | Bryan TX
Our lead, PD, commentator wrote a book in the 80's that was meant to depict the anti-christ, and his minions. The book was never published. Looking back on its pages, titled "Twerp and His Kin," brings to mind a certain urgency. Or, as a way of measuring progress, conversations in the book tell me we haven't progressed any.
To seek closure on the failed project is hopeless. Any observable condition of the characters that grow out of the book is by now over-done by reality itself; in cinema and TV, real life drama, and in family degradation. It would have led us into the next century leaving a trail of doubt, and hurt feelings. Oh, but that has already happened.
A good friend, Joe Holesworth, "Stratoblogster," pointed out this website: Exposing the Truth -- You Decide, HERE. It points out that many of us are thinking the same thing about Twerpdom, and have been for centuries.
" ... Once, the citizens of one’s nation are already thinking, worst, critically thinking, then that is a dangerous scenario for any erring leaders, stupid administrators, unjust system, unfair policies and abnormal conditions. (Jose Mario Dolor De Vega. July 8, 2013. HERE)... "
Philosophy, Reason & Enlightenment Through Critical Thinking:
The German moral philosopher, Immanuel Kant wrote in an influential and monumental essay, “What is Enlightenment” the following remarkable words:
"Enlightenment is man’s emergence from his self-incurred immaturity. Immaturity is the inability to use one’s understanding without the guidance of another.
"This immaturity is self-incurred if its cause is not lack of understanding, but lack of resolution and courage to use it without the guidance of another. The motto of enlightenment is therefore: Sapere aude! Have the courage to use your own understanding!"
'via Blog this'
" ... And what are the root causes of man’s darkness of his mind that breeds immaturity and inability to think for oneself? (Jose Mario Dolor De Vega. July 8, 2013. HERE) ... "
That is the zillion dollar question, isn't it? But as you know, you have to read the article to get a feel for the answer to this.

As the World Turns, enters CrowdSurfing

" ... Sandaha is a younger player in this crowdturfing industry but they still process tens of thousands of dollars every month in transactions. If the industry continues at this rate of growth, the potential profits very well might become so lucrative that they justify larger, more sophisticated startups which focus on creating realistic internet personas, communities, and dialogues just by paying people ten cents or so for each task.
“This industry is millions of dollars per year already and [shows] roughly exponential growth,” Zhao said.
“I think we’re still in the early stages of this phenomenon,” he added.
This is hardly a reassuring assessment, and I think Zhao is quite right given that the entire globe is experiencing economic turmoil and many will jump at the opportunity to make money from the comfort of their home and in the more impoverished nations they will do so for nearly nothing. Is Your Social Media Experience Being Controlled? | Wake Up World:
What's 'the next big thing' you may ask? (Pribek, J. December 3, 2011. HERE)
Using the old idea of sharing files, one creative person could provide employment for the entire cell phone, Kindle, or iPad owning public, worldwide. For example, my best friend does her whole work day on a cell phone. She is a merchandiser in grocery stores. She reports all her activities by controlled questioning on a company supplied cellular. Eh?
For example what if an American blues guitar player cuts a new album, and needs a cheaper method of advertising his accomplishment? He could seek out a person in China to translate the TEXT or BLURB of his album to Chinese via cell phone. Then he would seek out a crowdsurfing group or crowdturfing He then taps into a 1,348,950,000 person Chinese market. That would become a good base for anymore of his future albums.

UPDATE
Just today, Jan 21st, I have noticed that my favorite News Clearing House Site, INFOPIG.com is offline. I don't know if it is permanently gone, but I certainly hope not. You see, many sites that provide large amounts of LINKS as the function of their existence, whether they advertise or not, have been told cease and desist... Other examples of site shut-downs are sites such as those that provide LINKS to copyrighted properties, like movies and music.
We have to draw our each own conclusions about this control method by government agency. It is the basic principle of the Internet to share files of information alongside the spam generators, and viral piracy's of our day. It is the state of the art for now. But is targeting web sites part of controlling our Internet, if we in fact can claim it as ours?

MooPig Site Review :: "Deep Underground Military Bases?? -- YIKES!" PART ONE

MooPig Site Review

D.U.M.B. -- Deep Underground Military Bases, have been the subject of much rumor and conjecture. Do they really exist and have they been destroyed in recent months. We don't think we will get answers to our questions any time soon. REad the entire ARticle HERE.
Appearing in many discussions on the Web is the notion that the recent earthquakes in Virginia and Colorado were caused by deep underground explosions. How does a conclusion like that come about? The following "long' article gives modal evidence of the reason and result of these two "unrelated" earthquakes.
Two Underground Cities Destroyed On 8-23-2011? | Before It's News:
EXCERPT | " ... NUCLEAR STRIKES AGAINST UNDERGROUND BASES'via Blog this'
Recently, these sources informed him that the earthquakes that occurred in Colorado and the Washington DC area, surrounding August 22nd and 23rd, were, in fact, apparently nuclear strikes against underground military facilities.
[These underground bases] have been built by the US government, ostensibly since the early 1960s, at the cost of trillions of dollars of undocumented taxpayer money that is going into these“black projects.”
The reason why I contacted Benjamin Fulford is I had [first] read this on his blog [and was amazed.]
Then I started to contact my own sources, which have been built up over being a public figure on the Internet since 1999—and gaining the trust of many people in various classified programs.
I was absolutely astonished when I started to ask around and found out that everyone I know, with one exception who probably wasn’t on a need-to-know basis, confirmed that this attack did happen. (Wilcock, David. 16 Sep 2011. LINK) ... "

A US reader writes...
JP Spore believes there is nothing wrong with English evolving.
Languages are, by their very nature, shifting, malleable things that morph according to the needs and desires of those who speak them.
Mr Engel suggests that British English should be preserved, but it seems to me this both lacks a historical perspective of the language, as well as an ignorance of why it is happening.
English itself is a rather complicated, interesting blend of Germanic, French and Latin (among other things). It has arrived at this point through the long and torturous process of assimilation and modification. The story of the English language is the story of an unstoppable train of consecutive changes - and for someone to put their hand up and say "wait - the train stops here and should go no further" is not only futile, but ludicrously arbitrary.
Why here? Why not stop it 20 years ago? Or 20 years hence? If we're going to just set an arbitrary limit on language change, why not choose the year 1066 AD? The Saxons had some cool words, right?
Mr Engel - and all language Luddites on both sides of the Atlantic, including more than a few here in the States - really need to get over it when their countrymen find more value in non-native words than in their native lexicon.[ ... ]
I understand the argument about loss of cultural identity, but if so many people are so willing to give up traditional forms and phrases maybe we should consider that they didn't have as much value as we previously imagined.

MooPig Site Review :: Dean Kamen "Inventor" -- Astounding
Page from FORTUNE: " ... Dean Kamen showed some video of the impressive, mind-controlled prosthetic robot arm he’s invented. Kamen has been showing the arm off since early 2007 ..."
http://redd.it/2mdk70
Dean Kamen invented and developed and built the Segway Transportation System 2001... a crazy pedestrian two wheeler... that you see around at tourist touring places like the Alamo, White House, or Greenwich Village. The tourist gets to rent out for his family Segways to toddle around a place as long as it is under 7% grade... has pedestrian access, and there are no balustrades close-spaced to block you.
Okay so it has limitations and is expensive to make, and could be dangerous if a tourist is trying to Segway Tour the Grand Canyon ... so what?
Maybe Segway is just plain "ahead of its time." Eh? This article says the inventor "Dean Kamen" is not scared of failure. He is undaunted by the slow growth of the Segway Market. He ploughs ahead to the brink of post-modern man's development, "churning out inventions" that boggle and tempt. He has a share of future markets thinks FORTUNE Magazine.
Concerning the following -- "OH MY GOD !!! The LUKE ARM ..." -- I am astounded.

He is the founder of FIRST -- For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology -- a program to encourage young scientists and inventors. (LINK) ... "" ... MooPig Site Review :: Fear Mongering; Bait-and-Switch; Never waste a Crisis
About a Year Ago ...
By Jonah Goldberg | March 10, 2009
Jonah Goldberg's consclusion:
"But the real scandal isn't those policies, even though they're bad enough. The real scandal is that this administration thinks crises are opportunities for governmental power-grabs (It seems writer Randolph Bourne was wrong. It is not war, but crisis, that is the health of the state)."
(Goldberg, Jonah. 3.10.1009 retrieved HERE)
The author continues in this article to explain how this is fear mongering. He also points out that the administration thinks its policies are "best for the country."
It marks a departure from Bush-Cheney "neocon" bullying because it is a theory that touts the opposite is true. It turns out, if the positive is true so to is its converse true.
It turns out, our best minds admit, there is no "Bad" Press. Nope, no such thing.
By Jonah Goldberg | March 10, 2009
"Rule 1: Never allow a crisis to go to waste," White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel told the New York Times right after the election. "They are opportunities to do big things." Over the weekend, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton told members of the European Parliament, "Never waste a good crisis." Then President Obama explained in his Saturday radio and Internet address that there is "great opportunity in the midst of" the "great crisis" befalling America.
Numerous commentators, including me, have pointed to this never-waste-a-crisis mantra as ideological evidence that Obama's budget priorities are a great bait-and-switch. He says he wants to fix the financial crisis, but he's focusing on selling his long-standing liberal agenda on healthcare, energy and education as the way to do it, even though his proposals have absolutely nothing to do with addressing the housing and toxic-debt problems that are the direct causes of our predicament. Indeed, some -- particularly on Wall Street -- would argue that his policies are making the crisis worse.

The author continues in this article to explain how this is fear mongering. He also points out that the administration thinks its policies are "best for the country."
"It's not leadership. It's fear-mongering.
Franklin Roosevelt said that all we have to fear is fear itself. Now Barack Obama all but admits that all he has to fear is the loss of fear itself.
In other realms of life, exploiting a crisis for your own purposes is an outrage. If a business uses a hurricane warning, for example, to price-gouge on vital supplies, it is a crime. When a liberal administration does it, it's taking advantage of a historic opportunity. (Goldberg, Jonah. ibid)"
It marks a departure from Bush-Cheney "neocon" bullying because it is a theory that touts the opposite is true. It turns out, if the positive is true so to is its converse true.
It turns out, our best minds admit, there is no "Bad" Press. Nope, no such thing.

Say AAAHHHH to Michigan ....
Smitten by the Mitten
retrieved by Pat Darnell
MICHIGAN – [today] Police pull over a woman who was wearing nothing but a bikini, and covered in Jello. She had a wrestling match at Dino’s Dugout Sports Bar and Grille she said.
Apparently it was to much effort to wash off and put her clothes back on. After taking a breathalyzer test her blood alcohol level was found to be twice the legal limit.
My question is…where is Dino’s Dugout Sports Bar and Grille, and how do I get there? -D. Dave [SOURCE]
