MooPig Government Shutdown Department :: "Who Profits?"

Default would be an inexpressibly stupid event
Mashed articles by Pat Darnell  |  Oct 12, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK unknown]

Every investor should be afraid of a U.S. government debt default. But tearing a portfolio apart because of the risk of a default is risky, too. A U.S. default would be catastrophic. Even one day in default would harm the nation's credit rating, and have serious ripple effects, including:
• Damage consumer confidence, and possibly the economy.
• Cause interest rates to spike higher.
• Hurt stock and bond prices.
• Wound the value of the U.S. dollar on international currency markets. (John Waggoner, USA TODAY 9:34 a.m. EDT October 7, 2013. LINK)

Here's Who Profits If the Government Defaults | Mother Jones: "1. Short sellers: Most folks invest in stocks and bonds hoping the value of their investments will increase. But there's also money to be made by short selling—betting that the value of a stock or bond will drop. Short selling is an investment strategy that's typically employed by sophisticated investors and financial firms, but technically anyone can do it. Investors who bet that the value of US Treasury securities will dip would likely profit. Because a default could cause the US stock market to crash, shorting almost any US stock could make you money. In fact, you can even invest in specific mutual funds that specialize in short selling. "It's a very powerful and disillusioning feeling to know that smart rich people can make money even when America goes over Niagara Falls in a barrel," says Jeff Connaughton, a former investment banker and White House lawyer during the Clinton administration."

Precious metals and Virtual Money [BitCoin] will ride out the Government shutdown. Housing will suffer and jolt owners into foreclosures due to soaring interest rates -- but the banks, and holding companies make out like banshees. It will be a wild west land grab for greedy bankers.
" ... Jacob Lew, the current Treasury secretary, said in a letter to Congress in September: "The debt limit impasse that took place in 2011 caused significant harm to the economy and an unheard of downgrade to the credit rating of the U.S.. The drawn-out dispute caused business uncertainty to increase, consumer confidence to drop, and financial markets to plunge. If Congress were to repeat that brinkmanship again this time, it could inflict even greater harm on the economy. And if the government should ultimately become unable to pay all of its bills, the results could be catastrophic. (John Waggoner, USA TODAY 9:34 a.m. EDT October 7, 2013. LINK) ... "
With those poor credit ratings brought on by default, we pay higher interest rates for our credit. And government securities for sale would have to offer higher interest rates of return to attract buyers. That also increases interest rates for long term money like Housing, and would make borrowing for home buyers and businesses higher at the same time.

CONCLUSION
Markets will probably sell off as the deadline looms. If there's a last-minute resolution – as there was in 2011 – stocks and bonds should soar in value, as should the U.S. dollar.

MooPig Site Review :: "Igorot Warrior Headhunters of the Cordilleras"

Retrieved by Pat Darnell  |  Jan 22, 2012  |  Bryan TX

How does modern man -- who is concerned about taxes, and whether there is life on Mars -- exist in a world where still exist head-hunters? Are there still regions on earth in 2012 that have tribes of headhunters?

Why have we embarked on a world-wide quest to not understand the roots of global inequality? The last will be first and the first will be last.

The following article gives a good account, and great photos, of the headhunter life.
EXCERPT |  " ... The Cordilleras is a chain of mountains, located in Norhtern Luzon, Philippines. The inhabitants of these mountain ranges are called "Igorots" which mean "people of the mountains". They are the people who build one of the eight wonders of the world, the Banaue Rice Terraces. They were also headhunters. ...

Igorot Warrior Headhunters of the Cordilleras: "In the Igorot head hunting practice, most heads of their enemies were cut off with a battle-axe even before the wounded man was dead. If one warrior at the scene had never taken a head, he would be allowed to cut this one from the body and thus be entitled to the head taker's distinct tattoo (Chaklag)."

" ... Head hunting was for religious purposes and the acquisition of magical powers.Reasons include the desire for abundant harvests of cultivated products, the desire to be considered brave and manly. The desire for exaltation in the minds of descendants,to increase wealth, to secure abundance of wild game and fish, to secure general health and favor at the hands of the women, and to promote fertility in women. Say AAAHHHH to Michigan ....

Smitten by the Mitten
retrieved by Pat Darnell

MICHIGAN – [today]  Police pull over a woman who was wearing nothing but a bikini, and covered in Jello. She had a wrestling match at Dino’s Dugout Sports Bar and Grille she said.

Apparently it was to much effort to wash off and put her clothes back on. After taking a breathalyzer test her blood alcohol level was found to be twice the legal limit.

My question is…where is Dino’s Dugout Sports Bar and Grille, and how do I get there? -D. Dave [SOURCE]

Brazos Valley Records Storage is next door to Brazos Valley Waste Receptacle. It ocurred to me that the old term "GIGO, Garbage In \ Garbage Out," is missing something important: "GS, or, Garbage Stored..." right?

Absoposilutely Right. Garbage stored has a shelf life: GS has a surcharge: GS may have bearing on tomorrow's misadventures in computing... right?

You bet your sweet bippies, it does have enormous bearing on infra-structure of IT; just what it might be, well we don't know either... we just sense it. Here at MooPig IT School of Spamology and Scatology, we are someday going to probably research the possibility of "just what effect Garbage Stored has on an already burdened future."

"DIY culture is one of the more beautiful ideas to spawn from the artistic world. It’s an attempt at Direct Democracy, compensating for lack of resources, empowerment for honest and organic ideas and creations. It’s about artists/people getting a fair shake and pursuing personally meaningful ends. The “indie rock” scene has certainly seen itself in the context of that folk-garage-punk-DIY tradition. But the title, “Do-It-Yourself,” is insufficient. It reflects the personal empowerment aspect while masking something just as critical: mutual support and empowerment of a community. (RUEN, Chris. OK, this one crosses the Line

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Al-Qaida No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahri is criticizing Barack Obama in a new message, calling him a demeaning racial term implying that the president-elect is a black American who does the bidding of whites. [Geller, Pamela: aka Atlas Shrugs, 11.19.2008, SOURCE]

MooPig Wisdom International just had an emergency meeting. They unanimously decided to make known their position of resolve on cheap-shot artists.

It is now history that we, MooPig, spared no breath in deriving great levels of joy in paring out front-line journalism, yellow and otherwise, during the recent year long campaigns of Dems and Repubs. We ran every rumor and otherwise.

It is our very humble opinion that Barack Obama has legitimately won the election, fair and square, and deserves his victory and all the honor that comes with his new office. And now we feel it is the duty of us at MooPig, and every American, to build, not tear down; to fix, not dawdle; and to repair, not just prop up stuff -- in harmony with our hard fought and well chosen new administration.

OOOO Rah... beacchhes.

That said: now it is the wish of me, MooPig 'da Furst ...that I will find those imbecile's next cheap-shot man slaughtering plans. Then I would feel a lot less antagonism as I infiltrate their dirt hovels, and give them all a seasonal greeting with a Cuban Necktie.
