MooPig Re-Reading Old Posts Department :: "From 2012 -- Obama's new way of war"

Military Budget Round Three
mashed articles by Pat Darnell  |  Mar 1, 2014  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

USA has been at war for all my natural life. We are somehow designated world police, and therefore also designated scapegoat for all our hapless allies. We invade and occupy countries in the name of human rights, and are called upon by those of the oppressed groups to help them avoid genocide, terrorist attacks, expulsion, injury and death by their oppressors. I read that there were 2.2 million refugees out of Syria in their last civil/religious/factions/insurgents war.

"War ... I hate War," said FDR once. But I am beginning to think the USA loves War. Even when we cut war chest budget and soldiers go home, we still as a nation go on killing with new war toys -- like remote controlled drones. I think we will reinvent ways to kick everyone's ass for a long time, even if war resembles video games.

In light of today's "cut backs" in military budget, we find the roots of this in the recent past.

Barack Obama's new way of war 2012 | MyFDL: "In the main article, Bacevich describes three phases of the War Formerly Know As The Global War On Terror (WFKATGWOT): the shock-and-awe (conventional forces) phase, the COIN (counter-insurgency) phase, and finally “Round 3: Assination”, which he describes as follows:
"...The United States is finished with the business of sending large land armies to invade and occupy countries on the Eurasian mainland. Robert Gates, when still Secretary of Defense, made the definitive statement on that subject. The United States is now in the business of using missile-armed drones and special operations forces to eliminate anyone (not excluding U.S. citizens) the president of the United States decides has become an intolerable annoyance. Under President Obama, such attacks have proliferated."
'via Blog this'
" ...Rather than setting out to clear, hold and build thousands of tiny, primitive villages scattered across the Afghan countryside, such a strategy should emphasize three principles: decapitate, contain and compete. An approach based on these principles cannot guarantee perpetual peace. But it is likely to be more effective, affordable and sustainable than a strategy based on open-ended war.
"... Decapitation — targeting leaders for elimination — provides the means to suppress immediate threats to our safety. The violent jihadists who pose those threats are vicious but relatively few in number. They possess limited capabilities. Their aspirations of uniting the world’s Muslims into a new caliphate are akin to Sarah Palin’s or Dennis Kucinich’s presidential ambitions — unworthy of serious attention. They are rank fantasies (Andrew Bacevich. September 2009. )..."
CONCLUSION
“True individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence. People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made.”
[State of the Union Address in January 1944. Reported in: "The Public Papers and Addresses of Franklin D. Roosevelt: Victory and the threshold of peace, 1944-45", p. 41]

“Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is education.” [The public papers and addresses of Franklin D. Roosevelt: with a special introduction and explanatory notes by President Roosevelt (1941), p. 538, "A Message on Education for American Education Week, September 27 1938"]

“We must scrupulously guard the civil rights and civil liberties of all our citizens, whatever their background. We must remember that any oppression, any injustice, any hatred, is a wedge designed to attack our civilization.” [Greeting to the American Committee for the Protection of the Foreign Born, Washington, D.C. (9 January 1940)]

For the past 80 years what FDR says in his speeches is what we are fighting for, and what Americans have been voting for -- an implied social contract. It is perceived that we are the greatest civilization to ever exist, mostly perceived by ourselves about ourselves, and that all civilizations append their archaic systems to be Democracies like the USA.

According to FDR, and all who believe him, USA fights for ... "economic security and independence, ... [t]he real safeguard of democracy...education .... [and] scrupulously guard[ing] the civil rights and civil liberties of all our citizens ..."

I don't think military budget cuts now in 2014 will amount to much of anything. USA will forge ahead in its safeguarding and providing security all over the world at whatever cost.

UPDATE ::
" ... News: January 12, 1993 | Economist Jack Hopper returns with a discussion of another book by William Greider--"Who Will Tell the People?" We review how, during the Reagan-Bush years the drive of the rich and powerful to capture completely the organs of government, to lock out all meaningful public participation, and to bend all laws and the administration of them to their own interest have had a seriously detrimental effect on the people in general--impoverishing and disenfranchising them. This destruction of the social contract implied from the years of FDR is nothing less than class warfare by the American ruling class on the rest of us. (Producer: Frank Morrow. MooPig Wisdom 2013

MooPig Wisdom Quotes 2013: tidbits of glandular, skeletal, excitation, sending stabbing jolts to the neck from the heart and setting the brain to rapid fire in sharp detail ... Yes, a torrent of bleeding details that grants verisimilitude for the complexity that is our bodies -- our only pure science. Please enjoy the following not categorized list of MooPig Wisdom things we said during 2013.

[Picture LINK]
  • It's not easy finding subjects to blog about. Blog was short for Business Log, now it has lots of other forms and meanings. The major thing it has done is change social order. Discover your business, and make a daily log. It has a time stamp and file on a server. That makes it personal and public, and patented. Your blog is your patent.

  • So who is responsible for what is and what isn't displayed for the public eye? I think blogging is response to absurd network news hype, and inaccurate newspaper stories. If anything, the witness to events is no longer second hand news coverage, rather it is you where you stand!

  • All great human history movements have musical foundations that outlast the movements by millenniums.

  • Global warming also means ice age.

  • Google has quietly retooled the closely guarded formula running its Internet search engine to give better answers to the increasingly complex questions posed by Web surfers.

  • Now, submit your curriculum vitae to MooPig Enterprises for the department you prefer to work in. Say what ever you want to, and it can be as long as you desire, but remember if we can't compartmentalize you, you will receive no compensation. Consequently you will receive no compensation otherwise ... because we don't have any money to give.

  • We figure that if we insult as many writers as possible, we will receive the rewards that will come from an all negative press we will receive when you writers in turn scorn the pants off us for being deadbeats.

  • In the United States alone, over 800,000 smokers have already switched to electronic cigarettes.

  • Why is this an "exit strategy" you ask? It turns out, MooPig has written itself into a clausterfrack ... and now corporate thinks it should invite freelance writers to contribute and compartmentalize their reports to specific MooPig Departments. Through compartmentalizing we then can spread our miserable anecdotes in markets before-to unheard of. And no one will be the wiser.

  • I am unwanted
    Amniocentesis says
    My brain is not bright!
    [Transhuman-Haiku by MooPig]

  • What we have learned over the past fifteen years is that understanding of our beautiful Brains' Industry is that it is in its infancy, and any body of knowledge about Brains is going to be out of date before it can be printed.

  • Open your minds; open your skulls. Have Brain -- Will Travel.

  • Because if there’s one thing America loves to say about terrorists, it’s this … We will never forget.

  • For MooPig Wisdom to go legit would take a major investment in scruples.

  • Everything is bigger in Texas, including this world's biggest prick: that is why we have tea-sippin' offspring like Rick Perry soaking up the cash and spewing out the bullshit. His generation of Texan must have been conceived by seepage through the sheets.

  • One man's junk is another man's treasure.

  • Draw your own conclusion but take heed: not only is squatting good for elimination - it's also great for maintaining or reclaiming mobility and diminishing back pain.

  • Having the right business model is important.

  • WARNING: This project involves dangerous high voltage electricity!

  • "... Excuse me for sounding like 3D printing gives me such a Large Hadron Collider in my pants, but it does. While doing the research for this article I was anywhere from half-staffed to fully erect. Maybe that is an exaggeration, but my brain definitely had a hard on for what I was reading. I honestly believe that most of the world’s problems can be solved by 3D printing on a massive scale." [LINK]

  • Get ready for your new sneakers to be Internet-connected ... football helmets will show probabilities of plays success to quarterbacks in the huddle ... Your wedding rings will be Internet compatible so you never again forget your anniversary day ...

  • Journey through every day for a while as it is reported on the Internet, and at some point in your travel something amazing will come clear. What ever you were brought up believing is very far from the truth.

  • Americans support high tech food industry by eating. Industry supports utilities by paying meters. Yes, behind every high tech machine is a low tech reason for existence.

  • If it became clear to people that electricity is all around us as an almost free source, we would gather it from the ground. The best reason for our Tech Industry to me is that humans are basically hunters/gatherers, a very old low tech concept. We want to gather our own stuff from the earth, it's basic instinct.

  • In our quest to be clever in the face of bombast, MooPig has recently stumbled upon a situation. Europeans have been mixing horse meat with their beef and selling it to the public to eat. And much of the horse meat comes from exported American horses.

  • What we are warning about is that Monsanto might have already purchased all the patents and copy rights on all horse meat. Yes, they are usually way ahead of the curve when it comes to malnutrition. Can horses be the new genetically modified meat source? And, when that source is depleted, what is next?

  • I am guilty of cognitive dissonance. [LINK]

  • MooPig Site Reviews are little more than glimpses at what is happening on other pages throughout the online kingdom. Believe you me, there is a lot going on!

  • If laws are being written in our Congress today, based on what Cheney manufactured in his many lies, we all inherit his deleterious excrement.

  • " ... So, welcome, mister.... uh; Bucket Head, is it? Okay, yes welcome. That pre-Obama KFC slur will go well here in Bush's Town. Prairie View A and M is down the road, if you want to visit there as well; just turn right as Wilson's Chicken." (MooPig Wisdom)

  • " ... The crowd can be labeled in rows. Let me explain... the front is for those who don't mind close quarter moshing, shoving, sort of the vanguards, or advanced guard of the LGBiTg crowds. The last rows are the skeptics who usually say, "This blows." But in between are the stoics, and Goombahs. These are the ones who will show up when you ask them to go on a hundred mile bike ride this Sunday; or we need one more for the Rugby match on this Saturday. (MooPig Wisdom)

  • " ... The group consists of band leader Lord Phallus along with bandmates Bane Ass-Pounder, King Sith, Braindeath and Loki Sinjuggler and their latest release, Come With Me If You Want To Live (referenced from the mover The Terminator), gives you a pretty good idea of where they are coming from. (HERE. MooPig Wisdom)

  • " ... It's too bad there were no Economic engineers back when Economics was bubbling up to surface of ponds out from steaming ooze of covet, greed, avarice, and pleonasms that served to liquefy the spirit of humankind over ten thousand years that it has taken to refine our brilliant economic banking structure today. (HERE. MooPig Wisdom)

  • " ... I can think of no more horrifying news than this: Earth's oceans are polluted. There is not anywhere in the seas that is not without some kind of synthesized poly carbons floating in it. (MooPig Wisdom)

  • " ... This brief moment in lowered expectation has been brought to you by the Anti-Demographic League of America, and Rudderless Politicians Up a Creek. (HERE)

  • " ... Subject: mental health   ... Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have, and even with sometimes what they don't have.

  • Emphasis on bad news makes for an unlevel playing field. There is good news out there, and some bloggers try to make it their business. Thus, lots of flip flopping about whether there really is good in good. What some describe as the common good is not the common good of others.
So you see, MooPig Wisdom derives its creed and quoth from others like you. As you, dear reader, surf the Internet, we will always be here to coax you along, read and repeat your words to the rest of creation. And besides all that, isn't Nature just the most amazing teacher?

MooPig Evolving Budget Department :: "The Military Budget Deal"

How to Spend a Couple of Hundred Billion in an Afternoon
Mashed MoJo articles by Pat Darnell  |  Dec 15, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK] Awase Meadows Golf Course was built in 1948 by the U.S. Army and was most recently operated by Marine Corps Community Services. It was closed in February and turned over to Japanese control in June as part of a 1996 agreement to return 21 percent of the U.S. military property on the island.

Mother Jones Magazine has been around for about 40 years. I was on Trinity University campus "on its inception in 1970-1973, Mother Jones operated with an editorial board, and members of the board took turns serving as managing editor for one-year terms." They had a unique way of marketing; they gave free monthly copies away the first year to all us students in the dorms. Mother Jones would show up in my mail box each month. It also littered the mailroom floor as many students just threw their free copies there. Since then I have subscribed to Mother Jones once. But now I can read it online, HERE. MoJo tells me it is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and we rely on YOU to support our fiercely independent reporting.

TIME and NEWSWEEK were also pushed on the student body during my years at college. I also subscribed to them at the student rate, 19 cents a copy. I also subscribed to Mother Earth News during that time.

As MoJo is reporting military spending, Young Turks network also reports "the pentagon has apparently misplaced or can't account for 8.5 trillion dollars in the last decade and a half ..." in this youTube HERE.

The Budget Deal Is a Big Win for the Pentagon | Mother Jones: "Until Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) rode to the rescue this week, Pentagon brass and their allies had been issuing dire warnings about the nation's military readiness: The armed services were being decimated, they said, by sequestration—the automatic budget cuts that were set to trim $1 trillion from the Pentagon budget over the next decade. "It's one thing for the Pentagon to go on a diet. It's another for the Pentagon to wear a straitjacket while dieting," grumbled Rep. Jim Cooper (D-Tenn.). The message got through: The House overwhelmingly approved the Ryan-Murray plan just two days after it was introduced."

'via Blog this'

Like everything else, if I think too hard about this subject, I will get dizzy and feel old. The Pentagon has re-framed the military budget again just recently with a unanimous YES vote in Congress. Both parties saved military budget cutbacks with emergency legislation, right before they go for their own month and a half holiday break. Said MoJo: "... The House overwhelmingly approved the Ryan-Murray plan just two days after it was introduced ..."
" ... The Department of Defense expects its total 2014 budget, including supplemental war funding, to be more than $600 billion. (MoJo. 12/2013. HERE)..."
Recently, the government had resorted to the action of taking legal possession of assets until a debt has been paid or other claims have been met. This is called sequestration. The entire legislature is run by lawyers. Every Senate and Congress Person and every intern has a law degree. And they also therefore are officers of the courts. [Even Michelle Bachmann has a law degree]. So, every thing those government types do is always "lawyerly." There is no bigger cock blocker in the world than a high powered lawyer politician, believe you me. There are no beekeepers, pharmacists, MBA's, nor doctors in government. If there are other non-lawyer types in government by popular election, they end up being labeled "whack jobs."
" ... According to Lawrence J. Korb, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, the Pentagon could reduce its budget by $100 billion a year without undermining its readiness. The sequestration cuts for 2013 amounted to $37 billion. (MoJo. 12/2013. ibid) ..."
[Graphic LINK]

Our military can not abide a "sequestration" so they are let off the hook again this year by our lawyer leaders of the Legislature, Courts, and Executive Branch ... no audit, no accountability, just systems normal: all fouled up, SNAFU.
" ... David Vine who teaches at American University in Washington D.C. who has written for the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Guardian, attempted to find out himself the cost of the more than 1,000 U.S. military bases outside of the United States and is currently completing a book on the subject.

Vine talked to budget experts, and both current and former Pentagon officials, among many others in his attempt to gather relevant data. Many interviewed said that Vine's task was hopeless because of the huge number of bases involved, the secrecy of Pentagon budgets and the often fictional nature of Pentagon figures. The Department of Defence Vine notes is the only federal budget yet to pass a financial audit. (Ken Hanly. Dec 16, 2012. HERE)..."
"The 2009 U.S. military budget accounts for approximately 40% of global arms spending. The 2012 budget is 6-7 times larger than the $106 billion of the military budget of China, and is more than the next twenty largest military spenders combined.(Ken Hanly. Dec 16, 2012. ibid.)..."

CONCLUSION

  • The Pentagon employs 3 million people, 800,000 more than Walmart.
  • The Pentagon's 2012 budget was 47 percent bigger than Walmart's.
  • Serving 9.6 million people, the Pentagon and Veterans Administration together constitute the nation's largest healthcare provider.
  • 70 percent of the value of the federal government's $1.8 trillion in property, land, and equipment belongs to the Pentagon.
  • Los Angeles could fit into the land managed by the Pentagon 93 times. The Army uses more than twice as much building space as all the offices in New York City.
  • The Pentagon holds more than 80 percent of the federal government's inventories, including $6.8 billion of excess, obsolete, or unserviceable stuff.
  • The Pentagon operates more than 170 golf courses worldwide.

NEXT WEEK: ...Now if the US military is SNAFU, what is the condition of all the other nations' military?
