You’ll Love These Outfits Worn At Burning Man [GALLERY] | 2oceansvibe.com: "When you invite people to attend “an annual art event and temporary community based on radical self expression and self-reliance in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada”, you are inviting those people to take their crazy off the leash. You’re also inviting them to wear very little clothing. With that in mind, we present a short selection of some of the wilder items of self expression couture displayed at this year’s Burning Man fest. "

CONCLUSION
One wonders what will be the next evolution of Burning Man. Could be it has reached its upper limit since 60,000 people attended this year's event. There is no money spent while at the expo. It is like an avante gard convention in the desert.

We have thought about the name: Burning Man, and have decided it means the often used cinematic cliche of the man who gets burned to death in movies. This is a standard trick by stunt doubles in movies, well documented in expose's of how stunt guys light themselves on fire. We could be all wet though.

We also wonder how much corporate America bumfuddlery is involved in money spent for the exhibitions to bumfuzzle the visitors? This looks like an easy target for Bernaysian thinkers, who might mark off territories within the festival boundaries, and concentrate on their latest toy that they are marketing. If I were a corporation grower I would want my gizmo out in front of these patrons, they look like they can spend a buck or two. Shit, I'd give my gizmo away to them.

Also, in the pictures, I don't see very much ethnicity. Considering that Rule One of the Ten Principles of Burning Man: "Radical Inclusion --Anyone may be a part of Burning Man. We welcome and respect the stranger. No prerequisites exist for participation in our community."

From these pictures in Business Insider's pages, it looks like a secular demographic of svelte young white women, and swaggering white men in planters' hats looking to get laid, while sweltering in the desert. Not much diversity there, it could be a total drag to attend. We think its best days are over. If you didn't attend the very first one, then you probably can't call yourself a Burning Man troglodyte. Eh?
" ...The celebration of Burning Man's annual fire ceremony began in 1986, created by Larry Harvey and Jerry James. For the next four years, its annual fire party was held at Baker Beach in San Francisco. In 1990, the Park police interceded to prevent the culminating conflagration of the statue. This was a transitional moment for Burning Man as the event evolved with a new location, a change of date, and the beginning of a new meaning for the celebration. This viewpoint is an observation of the events surrounding Burning Man's presence in that year... Burning Man, a potent name for a very solid, but temporary, wooden icon. We all cheered The Man as he silently stood midst his urban surroundings, working his magic of mutual attraction. We quickly lowered the statue, dismantled it, and prepared it for Baker Beach, to erect it, and burn it as an annual ritual of which had actually began in 1985. (Louis M. Brill. no date. LINK)... "

MooPig Bloated Corporate Bombast Department :: "BLIMEY [expletive deleted]"

"What: Me Worry?"
Forestalled articles by Pat Darnell  |  Dec 28, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

Are Taxpayers Paying for Wall Street Execs' Bloated Bonuses? | Connecting the Dots, What Matters Today | BillMoyers.com: "For the past 40 years, corporate America has spent untold millions convincing lawmakers and the wider public that government intervention in the private sector results in painful unintended consequences that harm us all. At the same time, corporate-backed think tanks and media outlets have advanced the narrative that public benefits create a culture of dependency, and by doing so ultimately do their recipients more harm than good."

'via Blog this'

" ... This week, Alexis Goldstein noticed a similarity between two headline-grabbing numbers. She writes:

Earlier this year, Bloomberg calculated that the top 10 US banks receive $83 billion a year in subsidies from the government, due to their cheap cost of funding and the preferential treatment creditors give them because they assume the government sees them as TBTF.

In November, a NYT analysis of a Johnson Associates survey found that the top eight US banks set aside $91.44 billion for bonuses in 2013. (Goldstein, Alexis. Dec 25, 2013. LINK) ..."

CONCLUSION
What starts out as a great idea for a business often turns up in the foreclosure books at the loaning institution. It is the norm more than the exception, as most businesses fail in their first year of tribulation as a fully leveraged enterprise. Marginal returns get swept away as the loans are called in.

However, there are businesses that are thought to be "Too Big To Fail, TBTF" ... and these are given preferential treatment by their creditors and by the government. Yes, they are bailed out, so that they won't fail.

MooPig Free Range Grazing Rights Department :: "Unemployment Benefits"

Dire Straits
Captured by Pat Darnell | June 29, 2013 | Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

North Carolina Becomes First State To Eliminate Unemployment Benefits: "RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — With changes to its unemployment law taking effect this weekend, North Carolina not only is cutting benefits for those who file new claims, it will become the first state disqualified from a federal compensation program for the long-term jobless."

'via Blog this'

"Like many states, North Carolina had racked up the debt by borrowing from Washington after its unemployment fund was drained by jobless benefits during the Great Recession. (EMERY P. DALESIO JUNE 28, 2013. LINK) ... "

Whoops! That one slipped by: define "the Great Recession."
" ... A period of economic downturn experienced by the United States beginning in December 2007. The downturn is not described as depression since the severity has not encompassed the levels of the Great Depression in the 1930's. The US market housing decline is pointed out to be one of the causes of the Great Recession. ... "
CONCLUSION
Why is it politicians, in this case the GOP Governor of North Carolina, make policy decisions that adversely impact their very own constituents, their voters? Discontinuance of UC is in fact directly related to the Great Recession, as an after shock upon the demagoguery. Blimey.

The Emergency Unemployment Compensation was due to run out in January in North Carolina. Instead the Governor ended it this month, to "ease the burden on businesses." As in all cases political, two out of three questions are ignored: 1) Is it legal ... 2) Is it the right thing to do? ... 3) Who benefits from this? Follow the money.

MooPig relies on secondary research for its existence. When are we going to see the "free press" digging into the money trails for all these jokers in leadership positions?

Texas Power Plants #1 In US For Mercury Pollution

Retrieved by Pat Darnell | Aug 15, 2012 | Bryan TX

Texas Power Plants #1 In US For Mercury Pollution: "When you take a closer look at these pollution rankings, Texas emerges as a special case. Texas does rank #10, but it’s #1 when you look at just one pollutant, mercury. That’s because many Texas power plants burn lignite, a type of coal that is high in mercury.

Peter Altman is also with the NRDC:

“Mercury is the one that we have been the most concerned about because it has such profound impacts on our brains and our neurological systems, particularly those of children and unborn children.”"

Boehner to Push Payroll Tax Cut

House Speaker John Boehner said he will pass President Obama’s payroll tax cut, but only if the Democrats give a little on other GOP policies. In a closed-door meeting Friday morning, Boehner referred to the package he’s putting forward as turning “chicken shit into chicken salad,” according to people in attendance. His proposal will include an easing of environmental regulations on boilers as a precedent to building the controversial Keystone pipeline. Boehner will have some persuading to do, since there’s a lot of internal division among the GOP on whether to greenlight major Democratic policies, but the Speaker will try to couple them with measures that the Republicans want passed. Yesterday, a minority of the Senate voted to kill Obama’s payroll tax holiday. Obama demanded that Congress pass the bill before the holiday break, or “we can all spend Christmas here together.”

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

OWS may be as important to US now as the American Revolution was in 1776, don't let this opportunity pass US by, and realize how important this is.

Why America is a mess.

Contributors hand polticians millions to get them elected, pass laws, get billions in subsidies, tax cuts, poilticians hand back billions, pass laws, hand back billions, promote contributor's business, in China, India, Goldman, Pharm, US cos have offshore tax havens in the Cayman Islands. Those polticians appoint judges to Supreme court who then open floodgates allowing more cash from contributors, we're $15 trillion in debt, bailout banks, auto, we're unemloyed, health care unaffordable.

DC polticians promoted illegal immigration, busted unions, meatpacking plants in the lat 70s, early 80s, put millions of Americans out of work, out of ins pools, immigrants were abused in nonuion shops, the very reason unions were started, went to emergency rooms, drove up health care again, we paid to educate immigrant children, now GOP bust teachers unions, promote online education to replace teacher because they now invest in online providers who contributed to their campaigns the same ten years GOP promote NO Child Left Behind, and now invest in online and wireless industry the next trillion dollar business costing US taxpayers billions in the next layer of infrastructure while all other infrastructure is $2.2 trillion in disrepair. http://www.infrastructurereportcard.org/

David Schroeder ‎"Reducing the employee’s share of payroll taxes from its current 4.2 percent to 3.1 percent — the tax is usually 6.2 percent — and extending it to employers would spur enough new consumer spending to add about 750,000 jobs, according to Moody’s Analytics. That assumes the tax cut is offset by the proposed surtax on millionaires, beginning in 2013."

MooPig's Historical Business Perspectives: Creative Accounting

INvitation to Graft
by PD and the un-Herds

Business in general has gone through some really bad evolutions. The worst we at "MooPig Business College" have witnessed is in business accounting. Accounting has been more creative, than useful, for about fifty years.

In the "Back When Days" there were payable's and receivables, a simple system for Mom2Pop Businesses: the old In or Out. At the end of each day we count up the receipts, and that helps us prepare for tomorrow.

As we all began to settle in with simple business language, it became the tax thing of liabilities and assets. That became the fall guy wording, so now it is not just two things but
three categories ...

Just lately a complement of creative C-Class forces has added something to our day: Liabilities, Toxic Assets, and Assets. Now are we looking at the back side of the Bull?

Lord knows that I will be selling a property for what I have in it -- if I can no longer pay for it. Why is this property going to be called "Toxic?" Is it a WMD?

Quote of the Moment [SOURCE]
"...elite business interests—financiers, in the case of the U.S.—played a central role in creating the crisis, making ever-larger gambles, with the implicit backing of the government, until the inevitable collapse. More alarming, they are now using their influence to prevent precisely the sorts of reforms that are needed, and fast, to pull the economy out of its nosedive. The government seems helpless, or unwilling, to act against them." --economist Simon Johnson in The Atlantic.

We think nothing has prepared us for current Government in the mix as our taxing branch and as our prime debtor, business accounting model. Isn't that an invitation to graft, guilty just by associations?

"I certainly would find another line of business if I were CFO in a large bankrupt Corporation today," said MooPig Chief Finance Officer, Chuck Love.

Good thing for us MooPig Enterprises, aka Marmart, is still just a Mom2Pop value added retailer. Will you stick with us Chuckie, through our IN's and OUT's?

IYA2009 -- International Year of Astronomy 2009

IYA2009
SEED Magazine: Kepler's Years
The International Year of Astronomy is a global celebration commemorating Galileo's first telescopic explorations of night sky and Kepler's publishing of Astronomia Nova. More than 135 countries will be participating in 2009, hosting events that seek to reconnect people around the world with the unique sense of discovery felt by Galileo and Kepler four centuries ago:
The driving force behind the development of astronomy was the question of humanity's place in the universe, particularly whether or not other worlds exist outside our own, worlds like ours where sunlight-stirred wind, water, and earth somehow gave rise to flourishing life and intelligence.

From Earth to the Universe
A slideshow of awe-inspiring astronomical snapshots. From Earth to the Universe is a collection of images curated by the American Astronomical Society set to display in public parks, airports, and art centers in over 30 countries throughout the year. View the slideshow to see Seed's favorites. Learn more.
The Kepler Mission, a space telescope named after the 17th-century pioneering astronomer and set to launch in March 2009, will likely bring us closer to knowing that answer than all other accumulated events thus far in human history.

The US celebration kicks off on January 6 during the winter meeting of the American Astronomical Society at the Long Beach Convention Center in California. There will be a virtual ribbon-cutting ceremony that commences when light emitted 400 years ago from a distant star reaches Earth. The event, which is open to the public, will be broadcast live on the web.

In the UK, the Society for Popular Astronomy, Royal Astronomical Society and Science and Technology Facilities Council will be providing 1,000 secondary schools with free telescopes.

More information about International Year of Astronomy celebrations around the world can be found here.

The Chicago Political Machine

The governor has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
Corruption in the Blagojevich administration has been the focus of a federal investigation involving an alleged $7 million scheme aimed at squeezing kickbacks out of companies seeking business from the state. Federal prosecutors have acknowledged they're also investigating "serious allegations of endemic hiring fraud" under Blagojevich, who has a $177,412 salary, though it's unclear whether he accepts the total.
Meanwhile: Oprah says she weighs 200 pounds. "I'm embarrassed," she says. "I'm mad at myself."
Winfrey famously wheeled a wagon loaded with fat onto the set of her talk show in 1988 to represent a 67-pound weight loss while wearing a pair of size 10 Calvin Klein jeans. She had lost the weight with a liquid protein diet.
