Why?

STATUS: Let me try to explain Texas logic -- I paid $3.50/gal yesterday for regular gas, diesel is $4.48 ... about a dollar higher. In Texas, as the price of gas/diesel goes higher, we see more and more of this:
Are Texans electing a Texas Pope, and black smoke means the jury is hung? As the price of gasoline goes higher, Texan's in their Dualies jack up their wheels higher.
MooPig thinking: If you can afford that diesel guzzling monster truck, and can afford six new tires, why is your air filter clogged up? For the love of God, change your filters.
We at MooPig are still driving our 2001 Dodge NEON, at 27 m/g in the city, 30 on the highway. We have conserved mightily, please don't blow your black smoke in my face.
Diesel truck blowing black smoke question??: "... racinngfan3. answered 8 months ago: "... You do not want a diesel to blow black smoke. Black smoke means the engine is not tuned properly It also means there is a lot of fuel being wasted. You are not grown up enough to own one if you want it to blow out tons of black smoke. Hot Rod tractor pullers have their tractors set up to blow lots of smoke they also sometimes run a line in the exhaust pipe to shoot flames in the air. They are doing all that for show to get the crowd all excited..."

CONCLUSION
If the New York fashion trend were for models to be fat, Texans would all get skinny. Just because.

Happy New Year!
I hope you had a great time new years eve and are ready to start off 2013 with the BEST and healthiest start possible.
But let me ask you...
Are your pants a little tight after all that festive indulging this holiday season?
If so, now's the time to get rid of those extra pounds before they start adding up.
And there's no better way to do that then by cleaning out the toxins that have been accumulating
inside your body for years - without you even knowing it.
Did you know...
That your body has been accumulating toxins and storing them in your fat cells and nervous system
for years? Add in a few weeks of holiday festivities and you've just created a "toxic cocktail" inside your body.
Yes sir.
It's a sad and scary truth.
And there's a ton of research to back this up.
For instance, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted a program called the National
Human Adipose Tissue Survey (NHATS). In 1982 and again in 1987 it analyzed human fat samples from cadavers obtained throughout the country, looking for the types of toxins that accumulate in human fat.
Four industrial solvents and one dioxin were found in 100 percent of the fat samples.
NOTE: Dioxins have been shown to cause reproductive and developmental problems, damage
the immune system, interfere with hormones and also cause cancer.
Nine more chemicals, including three more dioxins and one furan (which has been shown to cause bile duct cancer in rats and liver cancer in mice) were found in more than 90 percent of the fat
samples.
In general, 83 percent of the fat samples contained PCBs (another cancer-causing agent commonly found in our world today).
WOW!
Talk about depressing right?
Well, thankfully there is good news. No matter how toxic-ally polluted your body is right now,
you CAN reverse the damage with a good internal cleaning using REAL food!
If you're feeling sluggish, under the weather, or are carrying unnecessary weight, then your
body's trying to tell you that a change is needed.
And I'm not talking about using dangerous weird laxatives or the latest Hollywood fad detox diet.
Finally, there's a solution that enables you to cleanse your body safely… with nothing more than FOOD.
That's right - real food…like some of the foods available at your grocery store each week.
Your going to eat anyways, so you might as well eat foods that will actually "fix" your health, right?
It's called the Total Wellness Cleanse and it was developed by Registered Holistic Nutritionist and
High Performance Health Coach, Yuri Elkaim.
Through his proprietary "food-powered" cleanse, he's helped thousands of men and women just like you lose fat, rid their bodies of deadly toxins, and rejuvenate their health. And there's
no better time than NOW - the beginning of January - for you to be next.
We all want to start the New Year with a bang. We all make commitments to eat better and
improve our health.
But many times these "resolutions" get flushed down the drain because we don't see results or
don't have a proper plan to follow.
At last, you have a fully-guided and easy-to-follow program that you will help you keep your health resolutions.
And right now - because it's the beginning of the new year - Yuri is giving you a $100 discount
on his Total Wellness Cleanse…
How to REVERSE toxin damage in your body (lose fat and feel great!)
When I first heard about Yuri's approach I was a bit skeptical, because of the bad reputation that some dishonest companies have given to the word "cleanse".
But I was amazed when I started hearing about the incredible (and fast) changes his clients were
experiencing within a few days of following the program.
For example…
Kristine from San Diego lost more than a pound per day for the first week, and said the Total Wellness Cleanse was "The most life-changing decision I've ever made for myself!"
Another of his clients from Ridgebury, Connecticut - Jennifer - lost 10 pounds, inches
from her waist, and started getting comments that her skin was looking radiant.
This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Plus, Yuri's got another special BONUS for you today when you check out his site below.

MooPig FWD Email :: "Detoxify your Liver"
Al Sears, MD
11903 Southern Blvd., Ste. 208
Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411
December 12, 2012
Dear Patdarnell,
Most of my patients figure as long as they don’t overuse alcohol or drugs, their liver is safe.
But alcohol isn’t your biggest worry. The problem facing your liver in the modern world is excess fat. Being overweight contributes to 52% of liver disease. Evidence suggests that alcohol contributes to only 6% of liver damage.1
The solution, however, in not cutting fat out of your diet like many mainstream nutritionists and medical “experts” advise. This only makes the problem worse.
Your liver is made to handle fat. Fat is an essential macronutrient and your liver uses fat to help your body work like it’s supposed to.
The answer to liver health is much more simple... just help it to take out the trash.
In fact, did you know that if your liver didn’t continually remove metabolic trash, you would be dead in a matter of hours?
A pure, clean liver is important because when it’s working well your liver:
Manufactures bile to help break down fat.
Filters harmful toxins and substances (including alcohol) out of your blood and allows nutrients to get to your cells.
Produces more than 13,000 crucial chemicals and hormones including cholesterol, testosterone, and estrogen.
Manages over 50,000 enzymes to maintain a healthy body.
Regulates blood sugar levels and prevents dangerous spikes and lows.
Stores essential vitamins and minerals – including vitamins A, D, K, and B12 – to help keep your bones from crumbling.
Even more important than what your liver does is what can happen when your liver is not working properly.
To get rid of all this waste, your liver will create balls of fat that collect in the liver itself. This is normally a good thing, except when you start storing excess fat, it can be the start of a “fatty liver,” a very dangerous condition. Then those fats can spill into your blood in the form of triglycerides, which boost your risk of a heart-related disaster.
Your liver will also move excess toxins to different places in your body, including your skin. Many skin conditions like dandruff and some rashes are tell-tale signs of a sick liver.
Also, a fatty liver can zap your strength, vitality – even your sex drive. Fatigue, frequent illness and “problems in the bedroom” can potentially have a connection to a sluggish or sick liver.
Fortunately, there are three things you can do right now to keep excess fat from overwhelming your liver, and your good health.
The first is to melt off the extra fat. You don’t have to strain yourself, just do a little biut more than you’re used to, or change up your exertion – while keeping the duration brief – and you’ll re-train your body build muscle instead of store fat. This will take the extra burden off your liver.
The second is to help your liver by avoiding toxins. And I’m not just talking about environmental pollutants. I’m talking about the chemicals in processed foods, too. Try to avoid foods that are “refined” or processed with artificial ingredients.
Third, you can cleanse your liver. Your liver wasn’t designed to function in a world full of chemicals and other unnatural substances. That’s why I recommend you detoxify at least twice a year.
Your liver might seem perfectly healthy, but it’s vital to keep it that way and not let pollutants build up. A good solution for keeping your liver cleansed comes from my colleague Dr. Michael Cutler. It’s called Liver & Kidney Cleanse and is an effective option for liver detox.
You get a unique, scientifically formulated combination of 10 powerful nutrients to help unclog your liver and help eliminate dangerous toxins from alcohol, prescription drugs, household chemicals, processed foods and more. Learn more directly from Dr. Cutler himself.

MTC 13: What I've never told anyone
Jayne d'Arcy

We all have things we’ve never revealed about ourselves on our blog, things our readers wouldn’t know about us but might be interested to know as it gives them a better insight into who we are. Here’s your chance! Tell us about something that you’ve never written about on your blog before. After reading don't forget to vote...
Every Secret needs an authenticated vestige of Truth
by Patrick Darnell
Hello my name is Tittio Pinelli. I’m a liar. I had a childhood friend, Jimmy Totter, who was also a liar. He once told his mother that his dad had bought a mink coat for her Christmas present. You see he was true to his name: he forced something open using a jimmy of a lie.
“She tore up the whole house for two weeks before Christmas,” said Jimmy.
We were standing in the Methodist Church back lot at twilight when he told me this. It was Tuesday, Scouts night, and we were looking for suitable grapevines on the back fence for stogies. It was our Scout Troop ritual to smoke these particular grapevines as a tradition to pass down to tenderfoots.
“Your mom?” I was astonished. “You told your mom that? What did she do?”
“Here,” said Jimmy to a sixth grader, “see you have to find a dried vine that is mostly hollow. Like this one.”
“My mom, yeah, she looked in every closet and up in the attic, and then Dad’s work shop in the garage,” said Jimmy after showing the trick of the vine, sucking in smoke and puffing out a smoke ring.
“Did you get in trouble?”
“Oh, yeah, especially my Dad...” Jimmy pointed his nose more downward, and his eyes twittered ever so minuscule.
This is the point when embroidery begins for Jimmy; for me it would have been the moment I begin to reel him in. From my perspective most lying starts with a stonewalling, and a pause, then a long list of things that “his Dad did to him.” His vacillated tempo between attitudes gave up his dotter and wobble, and a little shoulder shake was his final totter before the humdinger.
“That’s the time I got coal in a stocking, for Christmas,” said Jimmy. Not so good a liar, Jimmy.
Sure, his dad was a hot head, and probably worked out a little frustration on Jimmy’s behind... among other things, but Jimmy really was telling me this before he knew I was his superior liar. You see Jimmy could lie about trivialities.
There has never been anything trivial about my fabrications. I am the greatest natural born liar; I am Tittio, the Fellini of liars.
Jimmy lied more to gain attention for himself. He had not begun to enter my sphere of lie. It turns out, I lie to protect others. I lie to dissuade other's actions, or to defuse tense moments and gain time. I don’t tell the same lie over and over again. My lie is a continuous head trip, improvisational modal development. I will use just enough truth needed to steer the situation to mutual complacency. That is the root of being a trustworthy liar.
As it turns out, Jimmy became a ship’s pilot on freighters, and made a bundle as his natural ability turns out to be very good for that business. As Ship's Captain he had a slew of underlings to lie to at great length. His talents gave him berth on a career that he could retire early and wealthy from. He successfully shuffled cards. He hid real intentions behind his stonewalling, and there is no doubt he found treasure on many of his excursions; in unclaimed freight. He could be friend to everyone, and friend to no one.
If I am trundling along on a train, I engage fellow passengers with a parable to keep our trip poignant at maximum speed. I hope secretly distraction makes them miss their stop. If I am on the platform, I offer a lie to make small talk and muck up a stranger’s mental processes. It is mental conditioning set on superficiality, and acknowledgment of regimens.
My gift is something I suffer with emotional ineptitude. My lies are a sinking car being swept along a river bottom with me in it; a tomb. Yet despite the unswerving certainty of death, half-truths have served well to mitigate risks, in my unsavory swaggers, but have not served to soothe despair.
An existence masterfully created out of lying could one day actually become true; stuff of lies could be perceived as bona fide houses. Lying to survive in one's own fabrications requires so much synthetic superficiality, the structure might be insupportable. Others could find it too crazy to keep up maintenance on a house of cards.
A true liar, as I, has not only height and width in his lies, but also breadth. Factoring in breadth makes lying three-dimensional. There is a devil and an angel sitting on my shoulders; it is Faust, and demons, angels, and curmudgeons, and twins.
All the faking, and constant inventing, inventing and weaving concoctions, comes alive in the moment of motive. A childish flare imitates desire. A sordid type of bonding takes place. My victim is captured for the moment. Then when it seems a good time to splits-Ville, I might hold another delicious carrot up to my acquaintance‘s nose.
In final survey, what really gets my goat though is my altruistic lying has interrupted my settling down. I always appear available. I’m not available, and I want like mad to settle down.
Only by practicing this state-of-the art in lying avidly, like a ritual, could anyone ever perfect it. Or of course you could have been born with it like fabulous me.
Fellini once said; “Rinaldo, I managed to spit on her ass!” and I believe him. He's an excellent liar. I heard it through the grapevine.

Purple Glaze: A Brief Discussion of Painting on Canvas
If you are a good draftsman, then always work toward your strengths. Lay it out, and work with perspective and proportion. Here is a Lighthouse scene. I usually put reference page and photo credit on any 8 x 10 studies. "Eagle Bluff Light, Ephraim, Wisconsin: marks the entrance into East Channel into Green Bay. It was built on Lake Michigan in 1868, standing 75 feet above the lake, with originally a third-order Fresnel lens. It is a brick tower still aiding in navigation today" (Crompton, S W. UB of L, 2005).It doesn't hurt to under paint a scene with complementary color scheme. Using acrylics for this; remember if
you are oil painting, you have to put water based colors under the final oil base paints; lean under fat as the saying goes, or fat over lean. This roof for instance is going to be Terra cotta, so I under painted with blue slate color. The bush is in shadow, so I started with dark coloring moving toward lighter later. This is the best way to to produce details in shadows.
And the foreground wall will be yellow limestone, so I under painted with blue shades, Payne's gray, with more dark blue in the clouds. Again it all moves from dark to light, background to foreground. The
subject lighthousewill hopefully end up detailed and sculptural, framed in rich, subdued colors.
Add color. In this case I am doing a study of the various aspects of lighthouses, and not too concerned with palette. However, as I become familiar with lighthouses as a subject then I would choose a group of harmonic colors right now, and stick with them. Here I am using primary colors, mixing pastels from those, as I add features. It turns out the painting starts to fall apart, as complementary colors are set in juxtaposition. Soon the adding of shadow starts to mess up the
perspective, and details begin
to get lost, straight lines become
bowed lines... either optical illusions, or just lazy brushing.
Here is an inverted color negative showing true color complements. This could help in coloring the problem areas of the piece.

How to keep the painting together is to make decisions as the rendering continues. Decisions are based on observable data. For instance, lighthouses are generally not a
romantic get-away. Rather, they are
situated on crags and wind-swept reefs that were once noted as demons
on nautical maps. So, I am experimenting with colors to try to capture forebodings; a bleak place where existence is difficult; structures that must stand up to sheer brutal punishment by natural weathering winds. Thus, buttressing walls, stone and brick construction, copper storm shutters and scuppers, and heavy roofing.
The most difficult part of doing a study is in trying to balance the mess. Some of the intermediate stages have features that look really good. But as another area of the canvas is worked
it somehow cancels the parts that I just finished. Highlights fade, and shadows take over, or become ambiguous...
I see as I go that the underpainted version looks real good. I like the bold red lighthouse tower, and the blue mortar in the house. But alas the total structure is made from local yellow sandstone. So for believable finish everything stone becomes yellow's cousin.
I think before I call this quits and spray it with varnish, I might try to do some "glazes" in red-blue, purple, hues to make some shadow on the house and tone down the yellow. Most of the structure is trimmed in copper, so tarnished copper and green are good for other color trials. If this were a 144 inches by 96 inches, first trial, I would at this point be pulling my eyebrows out. No lie!
Fortunately, it is only 8 x 10 inches and manageable for trial and error. Also, I want to point out after all the groundwork has been laid out as it has been now, I as artist can anticipate some fun with the project in final stages. More on that aspect later...

A study like this is without parallel for learning a subject. If I decide to do another, and larger painting of this, it will take less time, and less mess to accomplish. Most of the time I skip this study stage, leaping rather right in with large brushes, and lots of oil. I end up making brown of my colors, and grey skies... so you decide how to go about your own dabbling in rendering.
