MooPig's Famous Last Words Department :: Michael Phelps
Retrieved by Pat Darnell | Aug 3, 2012 | Bryan TX
***UPDATED February 3rd, 2009 *** Michael Phelps has so far emerged unscathed from the controversy created by the photo showing him smoking from a bong, with his sponsors still standing behind him. However, he still could face criminal charges if it's determined that he was smoking marijuana, which shouldn't be too difficult considering there's a photo and Phelps has already confessed:
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says he will charge Michael Phelps with a crime if he determines the Olympics hero smoked marijuana in Richland County...
...Possession of marijuana is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days in jail or a $570 fine, plus court costs. (Read story HERE)

WHEW!!! UPDATE: WTPh ?
Hey, that's just a Clarinet !!
Retrieves by Pat Darnell

Well, the Weekly World News, famous for finding compromising photos of people, has gotten their hands on a doozie. Here's a photo they managed to snag of Mr. Gold Medal Michael Phelps hitting a bong at the University of South Carolina back in November during a down time in the swim season when he wasn't going to be drug tested.
Apparently Phelps was visiting yet another girlfriend at the school or something. And word was he was a pro with the bong.
Naturally the Weekly World News does it's best to mention how this photo will kill Phelps' endorsement opportunities. Really? He got a DUI when he was 19, which is about 300 times worse than smoking weed, and that hasn't exactly hurt him.
Plus, he's 23, has 14-gold-medals, and he's an international celebrity. We should be glad the worst picture of Phelps out there is him hitting a bong, rather than him doing lines off of a hooker's back. Cut the man some slack.
UPDATE: Phelps has since apologized, but didn't actually admit to smoking pot.

Larry King#################################, for instance --- did you know
In 1971 talk show host, Larry King, a noted degenerate gambler in Miami at the time, was arrested after failing to pay back money he owed. King was originally charged with Grand Larceny. He later pled guilty to bad check charges. King owed money to so many people, at the time, that a Miami radio station once printed bumper stickers that said, “Honk if Larry King Owes You Money.”

Michael Phelps is all smiles after winning his 8th gold medal - which should lead to a big pay day from sponsors.
Michael Phelps' eight gold medals could be worth eight figures in endorsements and earnings, experts say.
"If he's handled properly over the next four years, he should generate in excess of $40 million," said Marc Ganis, president of Sportscorp Ltd., a Chicago-based sports business consulting firm.

The 23-year-old swimming champ from Baltimore had already made a splash before the Beijing Olympics, with $5 million in endorsements from advertising sponsors.
His come-from-behind, split-second win in Friday's 100-meter butterfly race - which tied Mark Spitz's 1972 record of seven gold medals in a single Olympics - got him a $1 million bonus from swimsuit maker Speedo.
But after collecting his historic eighth gold on Saturday night, marketing execs say Phelps has raced into the ranks of other sports stars with huge marketing contracts, like Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan.
NEWS DEBATES IF MICHAEL PHELPS IS GREATEST EVER?
The feat drew a congratulatory phone call from President Bush yesterday.
"Laura and I are proud of you, our family is proud of you, but most importantly, America is proud of you," Bush said.

Here's the reportage:
BEIJING -- It has been confirmed that Serbia filed an official protest over the finish in the 100-meter butterfly, won by one-hundredth of a second by Michael Phelps over Milo Cavic. After reviewing the slow-motion tape, the Serbians still weren't sure that Phelps had won, but they acknowledged that it would be futile to continue to argue.
"It was very clear that the Serbia swimmer touched second after Michael Phelps,'' a Kenyan referee, Ben Ekumbo, for the international swimming federation (FINA) said. "One was stroking and one was gliding.''
Protest denied: Serbians admit defeat to Michael Phelps 9:55 PM, August 15, 2008
Said Branislav Jevtic, the head of Serbia's delegation: "They [FINA referees] examined the video and I think the case is closed. The video says [Phelps] finished first. In my opinion, it's not right. But we must follow the rules. Everybody saw what happened.''
USA Swimming spokesman Jamie Olson said the tape was slowed to one frame every 10-thousandth of a second just to make sure which swimmer touched first.
Cavic, who was born in Anaheim, raised in Tustin and swam for UC Berkeley, said: "I'm stoked with what happened. I don't want to fight this. People will be bringing it up for years and saying you won that race. If we got to do this again, I would win.''
Cavic acknowledged that the extra half stroke Phelps took at the end was the difference. It was a gamble, but it paid off. Cavic glided to the wall.
"It's kind of hard to see,'' he said. "I know I had a long finish and Michael Phelps had a short finish.''

"If we have hundredths for rules, then, iTouch is da' finisher!"
Gambling on a thousandths of a second is the one in a thousand gamble, no first touch , no gold piece. Simple and clear? Okay.
Later asked what Milo Cavic was listening to on his iPod and earbuds: "Oh, its a new song by Lil Kim called, 'One was stroking and one was gliding...' Serbian swimmer Milo Cavic said; "Real good dance tune...!"

We have this article discovery from a
reference in Pribek.net... The Smith College Sophian, Just SMithipoeadia that! by A. Zhu [clik HERE] from May, 2008"With over 2 million articles and over 684 million visitors, it is no surprise that Wikipedia was recently hailed as the largest, fastest-growing and most popular general reference work currently available on the Internet by Time magazine. The Wikipedia phenomenon has become so huge that it has inspired several spin-offs, such as Uncyclopedia, a Wikipedia parody, and Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki. In fact, our very own Smith administration has picked up on the rush and recently decided to launch a Smith version of Wikipedia, "Smithipedia" (http://merlin.smith.edu/smithipedia)."
"This idea started out as a conversation between President Christ and me," said Nanci Young, the college archivist. "She was very interested in finding a project for after she left Smith." In her 10 years as the college archivist, Young said she noticed that she was often asked questions about Smith's history. "We thought that we could create a place to go to get answers to these questions," she said. "Following the Wikipedia rise and ebbs and flows, we decided it would be a good model to follow." Its only reader, chief editor's older brother, had a fire at his shop, and is scrambling for several weeks now. So it is simply moot, and in step with the chaotic sacrifices needed to preserve our freedoms of speech, press and privileges of plagiarism and piracy.

Many correlative discoveries are yet to be made throughout the world of quantitative study of cacophony.
For instance last night I finally decided there is a correlation between wearing ear buds in public and Gold medal winners of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Can I download what Mike PHelps, at last count 11 Olympic Gold Medal swimmer, is listening to????

Shoot, man, I need some of that good luck music that he finds so intriguing. I suppose it is .... Gosh, I just can't imagine!!! Who could find out for me...??? I hafta' know WHAT IS THAT SWIMMER DUDE LISTENING TO????
Maybe I can just Smithipedia That!!!! Thanks Angela Zhu of SMITH Sophian.

Ahhhh.... some info:
I don’t know about you but I’ve been spending a lot of time enjoying the Michael Phelps Show, er, Summer Olympics this week.
One thing that piqued my interested was the world’s greatest athlete’s choice in music player. In practically every shot of him at the pool Phelps can be seen wearing the iconic white earbuds that are attached to, what else, but an Apple iPod.
