It's a shame that I cannot justify paying cable TV so I can watch Rugby. There is one sport channel for Rugby, but I would have to subscribe. Watching online is expensive too. It takes a bunch of Gigabytes to stream anything these days. I only have 5 Gb's a month on my computer here at work for $59.99, that is about one Gb per week.

Young athletes see themselves as invincible and indestructible. The pursuit of short-term athletic glory overshadows the specter of long-term disability, especially when the symptoms of C.T.E. may be delayed by decades. No one knows certain how much head trauma is needed for Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, C.T.E., to develop. But for some of us who are candidates for C.T.E., it would explain some of those rugby songs we used to sing:

As you can see I am partial to anthologies. My last comfort and longest friend in travel companionship is my battered and well fingered "why was He Born so Beautiful, and other Rugby Songs," Prefaced by Michael Green. My weathered 1972 copy has been with me, just like my F2 Nikkormat, all over the world.

CONCLUSION
I played football through high school. I went to a small private university, that had a football team, but I wanted to try something new. In college I took up Rugby.

I soon learned how to fake an injury for the team. Yes, sometimes the team is gasping for air, and barely able to scrum up, so the captain quietly whispers "Two Minutes Darnell" ... and I would feign an injury so the team could get a two minute blow. Sometimes, I didn't need to fake an injury, as some long legged Fly Half would run right over me, or a rabid Hooker who had it in for me.

You see, Rugby goes forward as the clock runs, there is no break between plays, and if you stop with the ball or fall down with it, you are the epicenter of a loose ruck. Plenty of opportunity to fake your own injury.

Having taken part in two of the sports on the list, American Football and Rugby, I remember having my bell rung many times in practice and in games. It got to be a game in itself to see how fast I could recover in order to get back in the game. I played lineman, Guard, in the pit where head and shoulder strikes are the name of the game.

I plan to donate my brain to the institution that could slice it up and study it after I am gone. I think it will help many in their struggles with mid-life dementia.

Pound land: derelict houses in Liverpool to be sold for just one pound - Telegraph:

"There are many places in the North of England that have similar problems with empty housing, such as Liverpool, Hull, Burnley, Manchester, Newcastle etc. It shows how 'south east centric' commentators are who bleat on about a housing shortage in the UK.

Under the last government the 'Path finder' scheme was implemented to compulsorily purchase houses then knock them down and build new ones. The effect of this was to destroy the value of housing in an area and make it worse, intelligent people were put of living in an area where the councils intention was to purchase and knockdown housing."

Many of theses houses were very well built in the first place and would be made habitable for under 20k. The cost to purchase, demolish properly and then rebuild probably costs over 120k. Not surprisingly the council plans run out of cash leaving stocks of derelict homes.

The reason they are derelict is there is little demand to live in these areas, ie no jobs. If jobs could be created then people would snap these up and refurbish them, they would be far more appealing than a poorly built new build block of flats.

I am not sure if there is a simple way of creating employment in these areas but knocking down and rebuilding makes very little economic sense. (landlord1. Feb 27, 2013. no link) ... "

None of these people pictured were in South Dakota, they weren't even on time for their own appointments. In fact they are only images of the people who were in the news today, for various reasons: wardrobe failure, pill popping, same sex kissing ...

But did you know that in South Dakota, crazy lights in the sky showed up for 4 days around January 6th?

That should add to the suspense of the night.

YANKTON, South Dakota  |  EXCERPT  "... I couldn't help but notice what looked like police lights ('cherries' or whatever they're called) in the sky to the south," the witness stated. "I was pretty sure there weren't any cop cars flying around that night, and the part of the sky I was looking at is a pretty busy flight path. On any day at any time of the day I see planes and especially helicopters flying by, usually flying northeast. This was definitely not a plane or helicopter."

Then the witness noticed a smaller object being ejected from the larger object. ... "

"A smaller thing like it appeared to fly out of and away from the first object. Its flight trajectory was a sort on parabolic curve toward the ground."

The second object seemed to affect cows on the ground nearby.

"And as soon as object number two disappeared behind background trees and houses I heard a herd of cows about a mile away freak out briefly. Nothing really happened; no cows were harmed and the diving craft didn't crash. But seeing that made me realize that there may be more of them. I looked around at the sky and spotted about four more of them but all were either smaller or at higher altitude than the first one."

These light patterns have been spotted now for four consecutive days.

"But every night there seems to be more of them. Thursday there were maybe about three or four of them. Friday, January 4, 2013, there were about six of them. Saturday night at about 1 a.m. there were at least 11. While I write this it's about 6:30 p.m. and they seem to have started early because instead of being on the eastern horizon, right now they are almost directly overhead, and other new developments are that they must be lower because they are much easier to see."

As the witness was writing the report, one object appeared to be at or near ground level.




"And about 15 minutes ago I saw something with all of those same flashing lights, but was much closer to the ground and I can see the shape of it - maybe triangle or stealth fighter shape. There are no military bases around here or anything else that should bring so much aircraft other than the usual traffic of private planes, crop duster planes and medical helicopters. Tonight is as interesting as all the other nights so, I guess the story continues to unfold."

No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on January 6, 2013. The above quotes were edited for clarity. Yankton is a city in and the county seat of Yankton County, SD, population 14,454.

HERE IS THE UFO REPORT AS WRITTEN:

January 3, 2013, 10:30 p.m., Yankton, Yankton County, SD - for 4 consecutive nights, becomes visible on east horizon after dark, then between 8 pm and 6am move across sky going west. Case 45060.

on Thur Jan 3rd I went outside to smoke and was about ready to go to bed. It was about 10:15 pm. ***UPDATED February 3rd, 2009 *** Michael Phelps has so far emerged unscathed from the controversy created by the photo showing him smoking from a bong, with his sponsors still standing behind him. However, he still could face criminal charges if it's determined that he was smoking marijuana, which shouldn't be too difficult considering there's a photo and Phelps has already confessed:

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says he will charge Michael Phelps with a crime if he determines the Olympics hero smoked marijuana in Richland County...

Son of Osama bin Laden seeks asylum in Spain

"MADRID, Spain — A son of Osama bin Laden who grabbed headlines by marrying a British woman last year has flown to Spain and requested asylum, the Spanish government said Tuesday.

"Omar Osama bin Laden, 27, is a metals trader who had been living in Cairo, Egypt with his wife. He has not renounced his father, but has said he wants to be an "ambassador for peace" between the Muslim world and the West.

"His wife said, however, that he was denied a British residency request this year after officials there said he had demonstrated continuing loyalty to his father.

"Omar Osama bin Laden _ one of the al-Qaida leader's 19 children _ arrived in Madrid Monday on a flight from Cairo to Casablanca, Morocco, an Interior Ministry official said.

"He had been traveling on a Saudi passport, and remained at the airport Tuesday while the ministry considered his request for Spanish asylum, the official said on condition of anonymity in line with ministry policy.
