MooPig Olympic History Nanosecond :: "Black Power 1968 Olympics"

Did it Make a Difference?
Retracted by Pat Darnell  |  July 24, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]  ... in the same stadium from which 6,200 pigeons swooped skyward to signify the opening of the "Peace Olympics," Sprinters Tommie Smith and John Carlos, two disaffected black athletes from the U.S. put on a public display of petulance that sparked one of the most unpleasant controversies in Olympic history and turned the high drama of the games into theater of the absurd. Smith had just won the 200-meter dash in a record-breaking 19.8 ...

Iconic Images of Human Rights Violations (43): Black Power Salute at the 1968 Olympics | P.a.p.-Blog // Human Rights Etc.: "The two U.S. athletes received their medals shoeless, but wearing black socks, to represent black poverty. Carlos wore a necklace of beads which he described “were for those individuals that were lynched, or killed and that no-one said a prayer for, that were hung and tarred. It was for those thrown off the side of the boats in the middle passage.”

As they left the podium they were booed by the crowd. Time magazine wrote “Faster, Higher, Stronger” is the motto of the Olympic Games. “Angrier, nastier, uglier” better describes the scene in Mexico City last week. (source)

Carlos and Smith were stripped of their medals, ejected from the Olympic Village, and returned to an unfriendly welcome in the U.S."

MooPig Report from the Middle :: "Infrastructure"

Report Card for Texas Infrastructure 2008 / 2012, a dismal "C"
Retrieved by Pat Darnell and Assid Reflux  |  Mar 19, 2013  |  Bryan TX

Every 4 years, the American Society of Civil Engineers releases a Report Card for America’s Infrastructure that depicts the condition and performance of the nation’s infrastructure in the familiar form of a school report card by assigning letter grades to each type of infrastructure.

PART ONE: Local, Texas
There are twelve categories in America's report card:
  1. Schools
  2. Drinking Water
  3. Waste Water
  4. Dams
  5. Solid Waste
  6. Navigable Water Ways
  7. Roads
  8. Bridges
  9. Aviation
  10. Transit
  11. Flood Control
  12. Energy
Focusing on the report card for Texas, let's pick on one tiny part of this assessment, Modernizing Our Schools:  per National Education Association (NEA), Texas has a "D-" for Schools, which has not improved from 2008.
" ... From 2000 – 2010, the population of Texas grew 20.6% according to the U.S. Census. In 2010, 19.5% of the population in Texas was school age, a percentage that has remained relatively constant. These figures indicate a current increase in school populations of just about two percent per year. Texas enrollment is the fastest growing for the 15 most populous states over the last decade. ... "
Compare to a 50-state estimate of the need for school modernization in the United States along with recommendations: Key findings show the total funding needed for public school modernization is $321.9 billion, and that total funding needed for public modernization varies dramatically across states, ranging from $50.7 billion (New York) to $333 million (Vermont).

Texas spends just $8,908 per student each year, which is well under the national average of $11,463, according to the National Education Association. Per student annual spending dropped $500 after the Perry education budget was approved by lawmakers.

" ... In Texas, the gain in jobs from 2009 to 2011 has been a loss for the Texan student. During those same three years average spending per enrolled student declined 10.4%, while nationwide, the same measure increased 3.7 % over the same period, according to the Dallas News. ( Alex Rogers. Feb 05, 2013. LINK) ... "
" ... The conservatives of the Texas legislature are about to try again to fool the state's taxpayers into funding private schools with a voucher program. The Republican argument, which falls apart under scrutiny, has been that no child should be condemned to attend a failing public school. No conservative wants to talk about why the public school system might be troubled, however, nor do they contemplate the even greater long-term damages to be wrought by school choice. (James Moore. 1.06.2013. LINK) ... "
So, by deductive reasoning, Texas schools will stay at the substandard level of "D-" for a long time here after. Political fervor to not spend on public education will cause stammer in any attempt to pass bonds for education, or attract Federal funding for our ailing public schools. We think as the public schools go, so will the private schools. Let's call it "Dismal," a D-, for Texas school children. And Texas ends up with inadequate public schools.
' ... State Senator Dan Patrick (R), who promises to push a repackaged vouchers bill in the 2013 legislative session, portrays himself as the champion of parents wanting to free their children from the prisons of public school ignorance and failure. He is, instead, a lost horseman leading a misguided herd off of a cliff into a far canyon. Vouchers will create even greater disparities in educational quality and new forms of segregation. (James Moore. 1.06.2013. LINK) ... "
Question for you; let me know in the comments if you understand this "State funding" statement:
" ... State funding to support school districts with debt principal and interest expenditures related to public school facilities is provided through the Instructional Facilities Allotment and the Existing Debt Allotment. These programs ensure equalized funding related to the Interest and Sinking (I and S) tax effort at rates of $35.00 per penny per student in ADA. The EDA assistance is limited to 29 cents of tax effort, a limit that does not apply to IFA. Higher property wealth school districts rely upon local tax property taxes and receive no state aid from these state aid sources. (ASCE Texas Section. LINK) ... "
So, in Texas, State funding for schools comes from property tax? Is that all they are saying? And the richer the community, the less that community receives for schools?
" ... If less money comes from Austin to local districts, those schools simply have to make cuts or find new ways to raise revenue, which often occurs through increased property valuations on homeowners... (Moore, James. 1.06.2013 LINK)... "
Here is the entire Texas Infrastructure Report Card:

PART TWO: The Nation
What will it cost to bring up our Nation's rating?

In context of our "federal" ailing infrastructure, we hover around a "D" grade overall. Proposed “key solutions” in the 2009 report, included:
  • Increasing federal leadership
  • Promoting sustainability and resilience
  • Complementing a national vision
  • Addressing life-cycle and maintenance costs
  • Improving infrastructure investments from all stakeholders
How much? It will cost the United States of America $2.2 to $3.2  trillion: "the report estimated that $2.2 trillion is the required five-year investment to increase the infrastructure’s condition to “good.” ( Melanie Wong. May 7, 2012. LINK) ... "

TABLE: Estimated 5-year Investment Requirement in Billions of Dollars. Source: ASCE Report for America’s Infrastructure, 2009

CONCLUSION, more of a RANT:
The Rothschild's are worth about $700 trillion. (LINK). Bill Gates Net Worth: a measly $67 Billion as of March 2013 -- Harvard Drop Out -- (LINK). Current Governor of the state of Texas and Republican Presidential primary candidate Rick Perry has a net worth of $3 million. He's accumulated that net worth largely through his family's fortune, and his numerous published books... (LINK)

As we lie awake at night, with gurgling stomachs, and 3 AM beckons us to nervous paranoia ... our imaginations are taxed, and we perceive our children sleep in an unsure state of being.

What socio-pathic government morons are doing at this hour? I can only suspect they are sleeping the sleep of the evil damned. Their home life is not thwarted by their own "denial" and cock-a-mania "conservative agendas." Their children sleep in the throes of voucher privilege. Their infrastructure is covered by the government check they receive, and government vehicles they are given. Yes, given ease of living by us generous folk out here.

Those others, the sleeping rich guys, are born on third base, and never get the pleasure of gutting out a real life struggle to just get on first base, like us. Their idea of work is flying a jet airplane.

It always sounds like sour grapes from us at MooPig Enterprises. What it really is, is acid reflux. So, next time your State votes on education bonds, be sure you are on the right side of that matter.

And that's our Report from the Middle; Where the women are strong, the men are good looking, and the children are hopefully above average.

MooPig Tsunami Debris Experts Team ::

This story is from Dec 2012 ::

MEANWHILE ...

More apparent tsunami debris washes up on U.S. shore - CBS News: "The dock was spotted Tuesday by the Coast Guard on Washington state's rugged Olympic Peninsula. The site is about five miles from the nearest road. On Thursday, a swollen stream blocked the debris team from reaching the dock.

The Washington dock is believed to be similar to the 165-ton concrete and steel dock that washed ashore at Newport. Looking like a railroad boxcar, it was 66 feet long, 19 feet wide and 7 feet high. A plaque identified it as one of four owned by Aomori Prefecture that broke loose from the port of Misawa during the tsunami." [Pictures LINK]

MooPig Low "T" Department :: Do I feel Older than Dirt?

Retrieved by Pat Darnell | Jan 3, 2013 | Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

I don't feel eighteen again. I do feel the sense of 'wanting to do things' again. I have low "T" ... low testosterone. I found out after routine blood tests, the doctor noticed low levels of Testosterone ...

It is a hormone. It's what puts hair on a man's chest. It's the force behind his sex drive ...

First doctor sent me to a specialist, a metabolic sciences MD, who further tested me. She usually handles metabolic disorders like diabetes, low estrogen, and also low "T" She then suggested the route of injections of "T" as the best solution for this condition. I have been six weeks with a routine of injections.
"As an endocrinologist, I'm thinking hormones," says Mezitis, who estimates that about a quarter to a third of the men he tests for low testosterone have levels below normal. "Sometimes it is testosterone, sometimes it is the thyroid, and sometimes it's something unrelated to hormones." (Matt McMillen. WebMD Feature. Reviewed by Laura J. Martin, MD. no date. HERE) ... "
After age 30, most men begin to experience a gradual decline in testosterone. A decrease in sex drive sometimes accompanies the drop in testosterone, leading many men to mistakenly believe that their loss of interest in sex is simply due to getting older. "The blood test is really the thing," Mezitis says.

The advertisement included in this article shows one of many "T" supplements available. Hopefully, this condition will right itself with therapy.

New Discovery Revitalizes Men of All Ages – Health Headlines:
(Cambridge) – Have you noticed a lack of energy at the gym? Are you tired of feeling your age?
As men grow older, their natural testosterone production begins to decrease. The effects of this decrease become increasingly apparent over time. It can leave you feeling weak, tired, less energetic, or simply not how you used to be. The two places you’re likely to notice this most are at the gym and in the bedroom.
'via Blog this'

" ... In women it is called Menopause and in men it is called Andropause.

This is the period, usually occurring between the ages of 45 and 55, during which a man’s testosterone levels may fall, leading to a reduction in vigor and sexual drive. Also called male menopause.

Women aren’t the only ones with a hormone cycle. Men have a hormone cycle, too. But there are big differences.

For instance, instead of having a month-long hormone cycle like gals, males go through an entire hormone cycle in a single 24 hours. Another difference: Men have 10 times more testosterone than women, so their hormone cycle is usually all about how their testosterone affects them.

A man’s body does make estrogen and progesterone like a woman’s body, though in much smaller amounts. The estrogen is produced in the adrenal gland. So, what’s a man’s 24-hour hormone cycle look like? His testosterone is highest in the morning when he wakes up and gets lower and lower as the day goes on. (Sheri Goddard. August 7th, 2012. HERE and HERE) ... "

Now we need a good detoxification program... live and learn, and write, I always say.

China cracks down on 'Doomsday cult' - CNN.com: "(CNN) -- Members of a fringe Christian group in China have been rounded up for spreading rumors of an impending apocalypse, pegged to the Mayan calendar. Known as the "Almighty God" cult, the group latched on to the Mayan doomsday scenario to predict the sun will not shine and electricity will not work for three days beginning on December 21, an official with the Department of Public Security in the northwest province of Qinghai told CNN."

'via Blog this'

Nov 7, 2008 ::   Back Story
China currently faces internal strife, a growing disparity between the rich and poor, overbuilding, environmental crises, inflation, a collapsed stock market, bad milk, and a dramatic decrease in the amount of time citizens can spend in Macau, all of which clearly fall under the category of things that are "not awesome."

Things are so bad in China that its gross domestic product growth rate may fall from double digits to the dowdy level of 8%. Eight percent, by the way, is a level at which the United States is unlikely to ever grow again. It can't. Our economy is simply fully developed. Thus the sobriquet "developed economy." I know, not exactly catchy.

China, on the other hand, has returned to world prominence through a 30-year economic boom whose speed and breadth is unparalleled in the history of mankind. China went from global economic irrelevance in 1980 to the country to which the United States is most vulnerable during this economic crisis, for the small reason that China holds $580 billion in U.S. Treasuries.
" ... Ironically, in sharp contrast to the Mayan prophesy of “renewal, the real World we live in at the outset of the 21st Century is marked by a formidable economic and social crisis which is impoverishing millions of people, literally destroying people’s lives.

In the figurative sense, we are in the midst of an unfolding “doomsday scenario” of a complex political, social and economic nature: it’s man made, it’s “Made in America”; it is the consequence of the fracture of the judicial system, the evolving Homeland Security apparatus, the fraudulent deregulation of financial markets, the mismanagement of the real economy. (Prof Michel Chossudovsky. Global Research, December 19, 2012. HERE) ... "

MooPig 12 Days of Doom Prep :: DAY FOUR " TEOTWAWKI"

Re-framed by Pat Darnell  |  Dec 12, 2012  |  Bryan TX
http://youtu.be/_eyFiClAzq8

... It's the end of the world (as we know it) There's a popular reverse acronym among the "prepper" community that goes right along with a famous R.E.M. song that is topping apocalyptic playlists everywhere: TEOTWAWKI, or "the end of the world as we know it." That, along with SHTF, or "s--- hits the fan," are emblematic of prepper philosophy. Be honest: Apocalypse seems kind of exciting, in a way - CNN.com: "We've noticed a few sarcastic story comments, but some readers seem fascinated. The apocalypse has left cultural footprints." ... (Nicole Saidi, CNN. updated 9:39 AM EST, Fri December 7, 2012. HERE) "

  'via Blog this'
" ... Robb Willer, an associate professor of sociology at University of California, Berkeley, studies political and religious psychology. He says the economy might be a factor, but other reasons include the rise of evangelical Christianity in the past 20 years. ...
" ... Willer says he's been thinking a lot about the feeling of powerlessness that we get in the face of something undeniably powerful. Some would use the word "awe" to describe the sensation, and it affects how we view the world.
MEANWHILE
iReporter balefire97 said folks just need to relax:

"Being born in 1979, this will be the 49th doomsday I have lived through. If memory serves me right, the last 48 weren’t very memorable, nor accurate, but that may go without saying, so I predict this one is going to be equally uninteresting and equally false. Tinfoil hats for everyone!" he wrote.

And of course we make it into a shopping event...
" ... Some customers specifically mention December 21 when they come in, says owner Joel Dreifuss [San Diego military surplus store called Bargain Center]. He feels that he's been selling about 50% more survival-oriented items during the past six to eight weeks. MREs, water purification systems and storage supplies are the most popular items, as well as getaway backpacks and emergency supplies. ... "
Folks, it is all happening right now, as we speak.

MooPig 12 Days of Doom Prep :: DAY THREE "D R Congo"

By Pat Darnell  |  Dec 11, 2012  |  Bryan TX

It's difficult to think of DOOM all day long. I was thinking of maybe taking DAY THREE off from blogging, give it a rest, think about constructive things. You know, maybe the torrents of Hell can wait.

Lots of friends and relatives are going about their regular lives, spending their days pretty much as usual. Births, deaths, and sickness, and weather, provides all the drama needed in daily walk about's.

But do I really want to miss a day in the count down to "who knows what" about to happen, or not happen, as in "hasn't it already happened" dozens of times before -- for millennia?

Heck, sure is quiet when you stop to think about flowers, icy, cold, mornings, and stars.

[ ... | ...] *cursor blink blink blink*

MooPig DeBunker Department :: "Bunker Buddies" -- PART ONE

by Pat Darnell  |  Dec 8, 2012  |  Bryan TX
[Picture LINK]

When you build that deep underground doomsday survivor bunker and stock it with hoards of supplies... you do realize that you will be in that bunker with your bunker buddies, don't you?

Your doomsday bunker buddies will be your family members in most instances.

A quick search for homicides amongst family members, Google reveals about 9,770,000 results in (0.32 seconds). We take the top result, Bureau of Justice Statistics, BJS, and find this bit:
  • "After spousal killing, children killed by their parents are the most frequent type of family homicide.
  • Siblings are murder victims less often than other family members.
  • Fathers are more likely than mothers to be killed by their children.
  • Teenage sons are most often the perpetrator in parental killings.
  • Older teen and young adult males are most often the perpetrator in killings of brothers. Males who kill their sisters tend to be younger than males who kill their brothers.
  • Sisters rarely kill their siblings.
  • Note: The victims of the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks are not included in this analysis. (LINK)"
If you have ever watched the Survivor TV reality show, you learn that to "Outwit, outplay, outlast ..." the element of humanity you are avoiding "out there," you must be sure about your bunker buddies. If members in your group underground have brought unresolved "issues" with them into the bunker, these could become your biggest challenge to survive. Bunker buddies with issues will be disruptive to your vision of redemption. No less, if you are thinking about your wounded-ness today, you will realize that showing your wounds to others will show your human fragility. Eh?

Those players on Survivor TV bring all their life "issues" into the mix. The issues become the prime reasons that a person is voted off. In your bunker, I don't think you will have the option to vote anyone off your bunker buddy team.

Yes, comparing your doomsday survival plan to the TV show is sarcasm. If doomsday comes as described in the Revelations of John, for most of us, our goose is cooked. Yet, building underground bunkers is similar to the atomic air raid shelters that citizens built in their back yards in the 1960's. My dad used to say: "... What if I wasted all that time digging a bunker in the back yard back then? ... " That was in response to the possibility of an atomic bomb from Communist Russia attacking the USA.

What we are mostly talking about in this survivor of doomsday is homicide. The human race is up for a cleansing, along with the earth's propensity to have extinction level events. That is the giant anteater in the bunker you build. If those surviving just outside your cocoon find the source of your air, they will assuredly smoke you out.

Therefore you will have to train your children, as bunker buddies, to not misbehave; and your spouse, wife or husband, should be prepared for teenagers to rebel. And if your are just neighbors down there surviving, the others will form alliances and vote you out. That is why you should be very careful about who your bunker buddies are. Yes?
" ... A devastating earthquake strikes Japan. A massive tsunami kills thousands. Fears of a nuclear meltdown run rampant. Bloodshed and violence escalate in Libya.
And U.S. companies selling doomsday bunkers are seeing sales skyrocket anywhere from 20% to 1,000%. (http://lowfuel.org/about/ .March 24th, 2011. HERE) .. "

MooPig's Fact-Checker Department :: "Harry Reid"

Public Record is not so Public, is it?!
Picked up by Pat Darnell  |  Nov 28, 2012  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

It doesn't matter now, Romney got shellacked in the election, but did he or did he not pay income taxes for ten years? I still would like to know how far old Mitt went in his money grubbing years with Bain Capital.

It looks like this is something a member of the citizenry of the USA is not meant to know. DRAT!

Another factchecking fiasco : CJR: "A week ago, The Huffington Post’s Sam Stein and Ryan Grim published an article repeating Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s claim that GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney hadn’t paid taxes for ten years. Though Reid provided no evidence other than hearsay about what he was told by an unnamed Bain investor (which HuffPost clarified in the ninth paragraph of the story), the story set in motion a controversy that exemplifies how partisans and ideologues exploit the structural weaknesses of journalism and factchecking." (Brendan Nyhan. Wednesday, November 28, 2012. LINK)

'via Blog this'

The facts that would exonerate or validate the income tax dodge "went by way of misleading half-truths and strategically ambiguous language to promote agendas."
" ... No one, including Reid, has seriously contested the claim that his accusation is unsubstantiated. Instead, Romney opponents and critics of factchecking organizations have relied on a series of semantic maneuvers to try to change the issue. This approach has often been successful—in part, it seems, because the GOP nominee has breached a norm in not releasing more tax returns, creating an impression among reporters that he has something to hide. ... "
" ... The highest ranked Democrat in Congress, Reid is known more as a back room brawler than a public flamethrower. So his willingness to throw this private conversation into the media frenzy over Romney's taxes underscores the low opinion he has of the Republican candidate. (HUFF POST. 07/31/2012. LINK) ... "

BLIMEY!

MooPig Report from the Middle -- PRIVATIZATION : the Game, Part TWO, UPDATE

[Picture LINK]

DISNEY TO ACQUIRE LUCASFILM LTD. | The Walt Disney Company: "Lucasfilm to join company's global portfolio of world class brands including Disney, ESPN, Pixar, Marvel and ABC."

'via Blog this'

Marvelous, now you can summon your Earnings Per Share, EPS, on your Disney stock... and watch that blue chipper soar... or not. Is this just another old guy looking to cash in on his long held business?

With Star Wars Episode 7 due out in 2015 ... will it be animated totally using zoo animals? I think we can forget about creativity for now. This is 'bidness' and it talks mighty to the net earnings crowd. Like we say at MooPig Creative Counsel Meetings, the more bidness, the less creativity.

With all bidness practices now being challenged throughout the world, I wonder if the New World Order Crowd has upgraded their modus operandi. Has Rothschild decided to change his name again; to something more NWO-ie... like "Zanzibar," or *[Google: 'catchy new world order names']* ... phone rings, dead air and some heavy breathing, no one talking... "Nibiru" new world order News planet ...?

We have obliterated the fine lines between one-of-a-kind creative genius in our time. Tragic, but true. It is our post-modern contribution to arts and entertainment; for now. You want it and you want it now, no point in telling you that "what you want" has a one year delivery time on it!

Disney should own all the cartoony stuff... why not? One day satellite Disney will start to orbit the earth like the moon, and we will have Wizards of Waverly on our headsets.

I still say we should lease Washington, DC, to Disney for 99 years, and let them turn it into a theme park. Criminy, yes, and then let the federal government could move around to different cities every six years. Most two term Presidencies last about six years, the last two years of presidency are lame duck activities like foreign affairs, and catching up on state trips around the world that weren't taken in the first six years.

Sure thing: six years in Denver, another six in Salt Lake City, hell maybe even a six year gig in Paris, who knows... the federal government butt buddies could govern from across the pond, away from all this climate change malady.

Oh, what about the federal government paper stuff? We know that can be housed in a medium sized metal building in a secret place provided by our military. We should make sure the terabyte computers are all waterproof though... *[lessons learned from Hurricanes Sandy and Katrina.]*

How It Works/Example: Let's assume that during the fourth quarter, Company DISNEY GALAXY reported net income of $400 trillion. During the same time frame, the company had a total of 10 million shares outstanding. In this particular case, the company's quarterly earnings per share (or EPS) would be ...

... hmmmmm calculated as follows: *[wait a minute we need a calculator... call the Calculator Department, Nathan]*

... $400 trillion / 10 million shares = $4,000,000 or at current dollars adjusted for future inflation is about $0.40 centavos ....

So, keep believing in your blue chipper funds, they will certainly keep the private sector alive, just barely.

[Picture LINK] ...  "WASHINGTON, — You watched the conventions, you’ve been bombarded by political ads, you’ve seen the candidates umpteen times on the evening news, and you may have even heard President Obama and Mitt Romney speak from the stump in person. And in the last couple of weeks you have seen the polls in swing states shift dramatically in favor of President Obama.
Now with less than a few weeks before Election Day, November 6, comes that watershed moment, the Presidential Debates. It can be make or break time for a candidate, especially for Mitt Romney, who has had a bad few weeks. ... "

Sadly, it is not the only Romney, as his campaign for the White House has made abundantly clear, first in his servile courtship of the tea party in order to win the nomination, and now as the party’s shape-shifting nominee. From his embrace of the party’s radical right wing, to subsequent portrayals of himself as a moderate champion of the middle class, Romney has raised the most frequently asked question of the campaign: "Who is this guy, really, and what in the world does he truly believe?" ... Moopig's Brands Department :: "Sunglasses Sticker Shock"

Next Time you throw down $268 for those Oakleys, Think: "Italian"
Retrieved by Pat Darnell  |  Oct 7, 2012  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK] Best Comeback
A smaller, squarish alternative to classic aviators, these Ray-Ban Caravans were introduced in 1957 but are suddenly damn near ubiquitous. More importantly, they still look as timeless as ever. $119.

Luxottica owns the two top premium sunglass brands in the world, Ray-Ban and Oakley. But Luxottica points out there are other players... Wal-Mart is their biggest competitor.

Luxottica Group is a leader in premium, luxury and sports eyewear with approximately 7,100 optical and sun retail stores in North America, Asia-Pacific, China, South Africa, Latin America and Europe, and a strong, well-balanced brand portfolio. The company is based in Milan, Italy.

The interviewer for 60 Minutes says: " ... But other competitors told us Luxottica has them in a chokehold: if you make glasses, you want to be in their stores; and if you have stores, you want to sell Ray-Bans! So Luxottica can set the prices as high as it wants. ... "

Sticker shock: Why are glasses so expensive? - CBS News: "Have you bought a pair of glasses lately? Bet your eyes popped when you saw the price tag. If you don't go to places like Walmart or Costco, you could easily be spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a pair that cost $30 10 years ago. Talk about sticker shock."

'via Blog this'
You might want to get some of those Oakley's so you can at least look like a Kennedy on vacation...

That's the finish on those expensive sunglasses you bought, or stole. Luxottica has set the price margins to fit their conglomerate needs. They own the stores, or call them distribution points, so competitors won't get exposure unless they make a deal with the sunglass cartel, Luxottica.

And the article ends its interview: " ... You'd think, well, surely insurance companies covering vision would complain. But guess what? Luxottica also owns the nation's second largest vision-care plan: EyeMed, covering eye exams and glasses. ... "

MooPig buys its sunglasses at the 99 cents store, where they are much cheaper by the dozen. The glasses cartel, 'Luxottica,' prefers to call them 'eyewear.'

MooPig's Famous Last Words Department :: "Ten Myths about Medicare"

Top six myths about Medicare | Reuters: "MYTH ONE: MEDICARE COSTS ARE OUT OF CONTROL

Facts: Medicare spending will soar in the years ahead as the number of seniors grows, but its per-capita growth is slower than private health insurance - and it is getting better. "We may be reaching the point now where Medicare healthcare expenses are growing no more quickly than growth of the economy overall," said John Rother, chief executive officer of the National Coalition on Health Care (NCHC). "That's important, but it might as well be a state secret as far as the public and Congress goes."

The average annual per-capita spending growth rate through 2019 is projected at 3.1 percent for Medicare, compared with 4.9 percent for private insurance plans, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. The 3.1 percent projection even includes higher payments to doctors as part of a long-term solution to the long-running problem of the sustainable growth rate (SGR) used under current law to control Medicare spending on physician services."

MooPig's Famous Last Words Department :: Michael Phelps

We Repeat:: "20 Medals, 16 Gold."
Retrieved by Pat Darnell  |  Aug 3, 2012  |  Bryan TX

***UPDATED February 3rd, 2009 *** Michael Phelps has so far emerged unscathed from the controversy created by the photo showing him smoking from a bong, with his sponsors still standing behind him. However, he still could face criminal charges if it's determined that he was smoking marijuana, which shouldn't be too difficult considering there's a photo and Phelps has already confessed:

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says he will charge Michael Phelps with a crime if he determines the Olympics hero smoked marijuana in Richland County...

...Possession of marijuana is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days in jail or a $570 fine, plus court costs. (Read story HERE)

Michael Phelps in England 2012

20 Medals, 16 Gold.
Snagged by Pat Darnell  |  Aug 2, 2012  |  Bryan TX

Michael Phelps is back on top. In winning the 200m IM in London over fellow American Ryan Lochte Thursday, Phelps captured his 20th Olympic medal and became the first male swimmer to ever win the same event in three consecutive Games

Read more: http://nbcnews.to/NOjeoJ

He [Michael Phelps] knew then that if he wanted to be serious about swimming, serious about this grueling and demanding event in particular, he had to get his backside into the cold pool early in the morning and re-dedicate himself to being the champion he was and could yet be again.
"... He [Phelps] went out hard and fast from the get-go, flirted with world-record pace and won in 1:54.27. It was his 20th career Olympic medal; 16 are gold. Say that out loud and let the thought linger: 20 medals, 16 gold. ... "
Sidebar
The OTHER American Swimmer, Ryan Lochte's, meet is over. He won five medals. That is, and let's be plain, big. Moreover, Lochte now has 11 for his career. Among all male American Olympians, only Phelps has more.

In London, Lochte, who turns 28 on Friday, won individual gold in the 400 IM and relay gold, a brilliant swim, in the 4x200 free.
