But they are true, Romanian, just that chances to see young girls dressed like this, well, are very small. Think mobile phones instead, cars, etc.
But you can still find in the villages the horses and unfortunately even in some areas close to the city, sometimes you have the surprise to see horses crossing some roads, next to a BMW X6, if you get my point…
The image with the sheep is however true, you can easily find that in the country side. The truth is that the country side of Romania may be really wonderful and in some cases looking like 300 years ago. [SOURCE]

How cool,PD!!! The pictures you have posted show, indeed, Romanian traditional activities, people dressed in traditional clothes, but, honestly, people only dress like this in the country side, for traditional holidays or when some traditional dancing shows take place.

Hey, this is Kathleen the photographer. I wanted to respond to Ovidiu and say that I love his country and the reason why I went to the countryside in Romania was because it had so many traditions still alive! I began the project in 1999. My more recent photos (2003-2007) are of the tremendous change that has taken place in Romanian villages. There are less horse and carts on the roads, more cell phones and cars, kids leaving the village for university,... As any Romanian knows, it's a very hip, happening country, full of artists, thinkers and intelligent people -- and the country side and food is beautiful! Thanks for sharing my images on your blog :-)
Thanks, Kathleen, it makes me feel so good knowing somebody appreciates the beauty of Romania. You know, in the last 20 years it became a tradition to only show bad things about Romania and we are not represented by the bad aspects you usually see. I agree that every country has negative aspects but you don't show those things only. Thanks for your nice words, you know, I feel great I live here and Romania is as beautiful as you say ;-)
Finding Ovidiu a year ago through a mutual blogger friend, and then finding these beautiful Photographic renderings by Kathleen has been an honor for me. It has been like finding treasure, true and rare treasure.
You are both especially kind to share so much with all of us.
Warmest regards, Patrick Darnell
