Pedantic Walk through Development of Land and Renewable Energy
by Pat Darnell  |  Jan 2, 2014  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK] Boondoggle

Land development is the key to the future of almost every walk of life. If it goes awry, or starts to cost too much, many institutions feel a dramatic decline. Banks cannot move land they acquire in debt resolutions, or foreclosures. Investment groups cannot get return on their dollars as soon as they planned. Growing families must put off long term investing if suddenly development of land and resources is too expensive.

It turns out the US Government surprisingly provides subsidies for all these kinds of developments, including money to develop new energy sources. But the US Government does not provide subsidies for Environmental Impact Reports.

Reason Foundation - Out of Control Policy Blog and How Federal Regulations Get in the Way of Renewable Energy Development: "A paper recently released by the Mercatus Center, examines the extent in which federal regulations adversely impacted this relatively small scale renewable energy project in Utah. "Although it is tempting to point to one specific regulation as the root cause of today's impediments to small hydro-power development, a federal nexus of regulation is the real problem," the Mercatus Center paper, written by Utah-based authors, states. Even after receiving the stimulus grant (which covered half of the projected $1.4 million dollars needed for the project) the projected benefits from the project will be insufficient to meet its costs.  "

'via Blog this'

Renewable energy may be an idea that is dead on arrival. That is, federal regulations make it near impossible to start up any renewable energy processes. "...Leave it to the federal government to provide billions of dollars in subsidies promoting renewable energy projects, while also requiring municipalities implementing those projects to navigate a federal regulatory web so onerous that it discourages any future renewable energy project undertakings. (Victor Nava. December 19, 2013. LINK) ..."

I remember the 1970's through the 80's, there suddenly appeared "Environmental Impact Reports" requirements for especially land development. Land developing became too expensive for the average developer. The cost of producing an "Environmental Impact Report" added at least an extra half-million dollars to the development costs.

Developers could only manage to break even on their projects with the new regulation. Often the Reports would disclose some sort of environmental obstacle that the developer would have to deal with. Only government jobs could get the backing in these cases. Around Houston land developing was hindered, and many development groups had to "re-group."

In developments today, for instance, " ... Different environmental groups, citizens, and politicians have raised concerns about the potential negative impacts of the Keystone XL project ... " Groups like the Natural Resources Defense Council, Sierra Club, and Lincoln, Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman will issue statements that if regarded add cost to the construction of the XL Tar Sands Pipeline.

CONCLUSION
Government has provided Americans with a two headed ax. It turns out that government subsidies are available for alternative energy start ups, but also there are too many governmental regulations on development of any of those alternatives. Who will straighten this all out?

For the past five years, our Legislature has not done anything to help the boondoggle of dumping subsidy money, then spending that money on its own regulations. The present government would rather dally around with creationism, abortion, and tall tales.

In the comments you might enlighten us to some group who is developing energies and land all the right way in the USA, but to our knowledge this growing impediment to developments is a pedantic walk through an abysmal activity that is wasteful and pointless that only gives the appearance of having value.

Everyone Needs Good Information
Matriculated articles by Pat Darnell  |  Jan 1, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

This article caught my attention. It is retrieved from Turner Radio Network, a group founded by right winger, Hal Turner who "... was Ordered by United States District Court Judge Donald Walter, to divest himself of control or ownership of all websites after his conviction at a THIRD federal trial of "Threatening" federal officials. He is not allowed to own, control or contribute content to web sites until the end of his probation in October, 2015. Hal Turner no longer has any connection whatsoever to this web site and does not contribute to its content..."

That said, this is the new mission of Turner Radio Network:
OUR MISSION
We provide the facts that the mass-media won't. We have come to a point in time where using common sense, speaking factual truths and asking honest questions is deemed radical behavior. At the same time, manipulation, thoughtlessness and dishonesty is often rewarded and rules the day. We choose to stick with the facts and the truth.

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” ― John Adams
"The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it."
-- George Orwell
Credibility is important to us. With this in mind, we pledge to get the facts, get them right and get them right the first time. We pledge to speak truth and let the chips fall where they may.

[Picture LINK]

--And Turner Radio Network says:
" ... EXCERPT  |  NEWS FLASH - URGENT - December 28, 2013 11:00 PM EST -- (TRN http://www.TurnerRadioNetwork.com ) -- Persons residing on the west coast of North America should IMMEDIATELY begin preparing for another possible onslaught of dangerous atmospheric radiation from the Fukushima nuclear disaster site in Japan. The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) says radioactive steam has suddenly begun emanating from previously exploded nuclear reactor building #3 at the Fukuishima disaster site in Japan
TEPCO says they do not know why this is happening and cannot go into the building to see what's happening due to damage and lethal radiation levels in that building. Experts say this could be the beginning of a "spent fuel pool criticality (meltdown)" involving up to 89 TONS of nuclear fuel burning up into the atmosphere and heading to North America. ..."
TEPCO Quietly Admits Reactor 3 Could Be Melting Down NOW - Susanne Posel | Susanne Posel: "Turner Radio Network (TRN) has issued a report regarding Fukushima Diachi Nuclear Plant that is expected to affect the entire Northern Hemisphere. According to the report: “Persons residing on the west coast of North America should IMMEDIATELY begin preparing for another possible onslaught of dangerous atmospheric radiation from the Fukushima nuclear disaster site in Japan.”    (Susanne Posel.  Occupy Corporatism. December 30, 2013. LINK) ..."

When the physical nuclear power plants are built they are designed to be self-contained power plants, with lots of redundancy in its building parts. What they do when it is time to take the spent radioactive fuel rods out and put in new ones, is place the old rods in a pool of water to keep them cool. The spent rods go on heating for two to threes years after they are set in the spent fuel pool.

So the waste fuel rods are also self-contained in the power plant. Nuclear power plants were meant to operate for fifty years, and then be put off-line, and spent fuel to be maintained in cool climate of the pools until they could be safely removed and disposed of. Therefore nuclear power plants built in 1980's will have lived out their lives by 2030, unless they undergo catastrophic failure, as is the case in Fukushima, Japan.

[Picture LINK]

'via Blog this'

CONCLUSION
Reactor #3 has started emitting steam. The building is too damaged, and too radioactive, for humans to go in there. Without visual inspection for leaks, the cause of the steam is speculated. If the steam is coming from the spent fuel pool, it is an area in the plant less fortified than the other parts of the structure/edifice.

We hold our breath as we wait and see... we hope that this is good information for anyone seeking truth about Fukushima, Japan nuclear disaster.

More Shaking News from Energy Experts
youTube Capture by Pat Darnell and Elaine D'Rico  |  Nov 7, 2013  |  Austin and Bryan TX

TRANSCRIPT

0:01SCHINDLER: I would say the biggest thing people should have learned from the Japanese nuclear
0:10accident is that for rare events that are catastrophic the tendency of politicians to
0:22go to risk based management is folly. Risk based management works well if you're calculating
0:32car crashes and the probability of getting in one. Things where you have a big database
0:38and lots of events in a big variety of things. For things that happen very very rarely so
0:47that you can't really calculate the probability - just to give you a number astronomically
0:53low and that would be for a tsunami or a nuclear power plant failure. Well, how is it then,
1:01that when you think the probability on a risk-base is of a tsunami causing 6 nuclear plants to
1:09fail...and then if that doesn't blow your mind enough, the calculation of a risk of
1:16a deepwater oilspill is astronomically low. And that happened just a few months later.
1:23So the message is: There are things that are important enough that you don't tolerate any
1:31risk. You have to have data to work with to generate reliable risk estimates and it just
1:39doesn't work for rare or catastrophic events. And that's something that we as a society
1:46need to know because we have politicians who want to see these risk calculations on everything
1:52and if they're below a certain threshold, you know, go with the in doubt one. The precautionary
2:00principle has been lost.
2:02SUZUKI: We're always being told these technologies are foolproof but what is a foolproof technology?
2:08It's a technology free of fools. And who hasn't been at some point gone to a party and gotten
2:13hammered and you come in hungover the next day, or got a cold and didn't want to lose
2:18a days wages so you come in, or fallen in love and lost 50 IQ points. I mean, lots of
2:29things makes us fools and you can't anticipate the fool. How a real life fool -and
2:35technology. But, you know, I make a point of not accepting invitations to be on organizations
2:39- foreign organizations - because I'm focused just in Canada, but last year I did accept
2:44one international invitation to be part of: Japan's Renewable Energy Foundation. It was
2:49set up after Fukushima. Fukushima is the most terrifying situation I can imagine. You asked,
2:58"What can we do?" First of all you have got to get a government that isn't in total collusion
3:04with techno...the energy companies. They're lying through their teeth. 3 out of the 4
3:14plants were destroyed in the earthquake and in the tsunami. The 4th one has been so badly
3:22damaged that the fear is: if there's another earthquake of a 7 or above that thing then
3:31will go and then all hell breaks loose. And the probability of a 7 or above earthquake
3:36in the next 3 years is over 95%. Now what they've got in there is 1300 rods of spent
3:43fuel that have to be kept in water all the time. And they have no way of getting it out
3:49and, you know, they're pouring water in and that water's leaking out and now they've got
3:53this cockamamie scheme of trying to freeze the soil so the (unintelligible) flows in
3:58- well - they don't know what to do and the thing we need is to get an international group
4:04of experts to go in with complete freedom to do what they suggest and right now the
4:10Japanese government has too much pride to admit that. I have seen a paper which says
4:17that, if, in fact, the 4th plant goes under an earthquake and those rods are exposed it's
4:25bye bye Japan and everybody on the West Coast of North America should evacuate. If
4:34that isn't terrifying I don't know what is.

CONCLUSION
Collusion and misinformation of and by Japan [and possibly the rest of the world] has stymied work on the clean up of the Fukushima nuclear plants. From other sources we find the cleanup will take thirty years. If it is that long, when it's done this author will be 88 years old.

" ... if, in fact, the 4th plant goes under an earthquake and those rods are exposed it's bye bye Japan and everybody on the West Coast of North America should evacuate. If that isn't terrifying I don't know what is. ... "

Rod Removal has Begun by, yes, Amateurs
mashed articles by Pat Darnell | Nov 7, 2013 | Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

" ... The shortage of qualified workers has been an opportunity for the yakuza. Gangsters have stepped in to supply labor to subcontract to TEPCO's [Tepco, Tokyo Energy & Systems] contractors. The yakuza's labor pool is the most desperate men in Japan. They are poorly trained, suffer from wage theft, and are over-worked and demoralized. TEPCO is enabling the yakuza because management is unwilling to cut profits to pay competitive wages. (FishOutofWaterFollowforDK GreenRoots. Nov 1, 2013. LINK)..."

" ...Nearly 50 gangs with 1,050 members operate in Fukushima prefecture dominated by three major syndicates - Yamaguchi-gumi, Sumiyoshi-kai and Inagawa-kai, police say.(ibid.)..."

" ... In reviewing Fukushima working conditions, Reuters interviewed more than 80 workers, employers and officials involved in the unprecedented nuclear clean-up. A common complaint: the project's dependence on a sprawling and little scrutinized network of subcontractors - many of them inexperienced with nuclear work and some of them, police say, have ties to organized crime. (Antoni Slodkowski and Mari Saito
IWAKI | Fri Oct 25, 2013 LINK) ..."
" ...In a rare prosecution involving a yakuza executive, Yoshinori Arai, a boss in a gang affiliated with the Sumiyoshi-kai, was convicted of labor law violations. Arai admitted pocketing around $60,000 over two years by skimming a third of wages paid to workers in the disaster zone. (ibid.)..."
Daily Kos: "Apocalyptic" Fukushima Fuel Rod Removal Begins Nov. 8; TEPCO Subcontracts Yakuza gangsters: "Worker D: To begin with, it is a mistake to let a company handle the accident when that company didn't even have countermeasures in case of an accident. They are too proud to admit they can't do it under the current condition. Contaminated water keep increasing, workers keep decreasing. There is a law for supporting children and disaster victims, but there is nothing for radiation-exposed workers. Soon, not even yakuza nor amateurs will remain at Fukushima I Nuke Plant."

One-hundred fifty thousand people had to flee from the area around Fukushima I NUKE plant after the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and a massive tsunami hit the plant on March 11, 2011. The disaster triggered three reactor meltdowns, a series of explosions and a radiation leak.

" ... In towns and villages around the plant in Fukushima, thousands of workers wielding industrial hoses, operating mechanical diggers and wearing dosimeters to measure radiation have been deployed to scrub houses and roads, dig up topsoil and strip trees of leaves in an effort to reduce background radiation so that refugees can return home. (ibid.) ... "

  'via Blog this'

CONCLUSION
You can get a job at the clean up today, and work there until you are 70 years old and retiring. Cleanup will take that long, over thirty years. Your wages will be skimmed by unscrupulous bosses, you will encounter life ending radiation, and most likely not live to be 70.

Fukushima: 28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation… | UKIAH BLOG: "Ultimately, all of this nuclear radiation will outlive all of us by a very wide margin. They are saying that it could take up to 40 years to clean up the Fukushima disaster, and meanwhile countless innocent people will develop cancer and other health problems as a result of exposure to high levels of nuclear radiation. We are talking about a nuclear disaster that is absolutely unprecedented, and it is constantly getting worse. The following are 28 signs that the west coast of North America is being absolutely fried with nuclear radiation from Fukushima…"  [Read Entire Ukiah Blog Post HERE]

'via Blog this'
1. Polar bears, seals and walruses along the Alaska coastline are suffering from fur loss and open sores…

2. There is an epidemic of sea lion deaths along the California coastline…

3. Along the Pacific coast of Canada and the Alaska coastline, the population of sockeye salmon is at a historic low. Many are blaming Fukushima.

7. Experts have found very high levels of cesium-137 in plankton living in the waters of the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and the west coast.

8. One test in California found that 15 out of 15 bluefin tuna were contaminated with radiation from Fukushima.

9. Back in 2012, the Vancouver Sun reported that cesium-137 was being found in a very high percentage of the fish that Japan was selling to Canada…

• 73 percent of mackerel tested
• 91 percent of the halibut
• 92 percent of the sardines
• 93 percent of the tuna and eel
• 94 percent of the cod and anchovies
• 100 percent of the carp, seaweed, shark and monkfish

10. Canadian authorities are finding extremely high levels of nuclear radiation in certain fish samples…

11. Some experts believe that we could see very high levels of cancer along the west coast just from people eating contaminated fish…

12. BBC News recently reported that radiation levels around Fukushima are “18 times higher” than previously believed.

13. An EU-funded study concluded that Fukushima released up to 210 quadrillion becquerels of cesium-137 into the atmosphere.

17. According to Tepco, a total of somewhere between 20 trillion and 40 trillion becquerels of radioactive tritium have gotten into the Pacific Ocean since the Fukushima disaster first began.

18. According to a professor at Tokyo University, 3 gigabecquerels of cesium-137 are flowing into the port at Fukushima Daiichi every single day.

19. It has been estimated that up to 100 times as much nuclear radiation has been released into the ocean from Fukushima than was released during the entire Chernobyl disaster.

20. One recent study concluded that a very large plume of cesium-137 from the Fukushima disaster will start flowing into U.S. coastal waters early next year…

21. It is being projected that significant levels of cesium-137 will reach every corner of the Pacific Ocean by the year 2020.

22. It is being projected that the entire Pacific Ocean will soon “have cesium levels 5 to 10 times higher” than what we witnessed during the era of heavy atomic bomb testing in the Pacific many decades ago.

23. The immense amounts of nuclear radiation getting into the water in the Pacific Ocean has caused environmental activist Joe Martino to issue the following warning… “Your days of eating Pacific Ocean fish are over.”

24. The Iodine-131, Cesium-137 and Strontium-90 that are constantly coming from Fukushima are going to affect the health of those living the the northern hemisphere for a very, very long time. Just consider what Harvey Wasserman had to say about this…

25. According to a recent Planet Infowars report, the California coastline is being transformed into “a dead zone”…

SUMMARY
" ... Given that the FDA has refused to test seafood for radiation, we’re not that confident that the government is looking that hard to see if Fukushima fallout is the cause. (George Washington on 03/31/2013. LINK) ..."
" ... No contaminated fish have turned up in the U.S., or in U.S. waters, according to experts from the Food and Drug Administration [which isn't testing], Environmental Protection Agency and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They expressed confidence that even a single fish sufficiently contaminated to pose a risk to human health would be detected by the " ... U.S. monitoring system. [But would the government announce such detection?] (April 19, 2011 by WashingtonsBlog. LINK)..."
" ... Vancouver Sun reported in January 2012 that 94 per cent of the anchovies and 92 per cent of the sardines sold by the Japanese to Canada contained radioactive cesium. Some of the fish were caught in Japanese coastal waters; but others were made many hundreds of miles away in the open ocean. (Note: there may be additional reasons for fluctuations in the numbers of anchovies and sardines other than radiation.) Moreover, radiation from Fukushima was directly deposited into the kelp off the Western coast of North America … especially in Southern California. (George Washington on 03/31/2013. LINK) ... "
" ... The floating debris will likely be carried by currents off of Japan toward Washington, Oregon and California before turning toward Hawaii and back again toward Asia, circulating in what is known as the North Pacific gyre, said Curt Ebbesmeyer, a Seattle oceanographer who has spent decades tracking flotsam. (April 19, 2011 by WashingtonsBlog. LINK) ... "
CONCLUSION
" ... We are not prepared for this. Nobody is prepared. Nobody has even thought through the dimensions. This is unprecedented in scientific history. It’s unprecedented in recorded history. There’s never been a devastation on one continent that has moved off to the other continent and actually recorded. (LINK) ..."

" ... The nuclear-power industry, meanwhile, argues the document does not relax guidelines for responding to radiological incidents enough. Comments the Nuclear Energy Institute, which represents the industry, submitted Sept. 16 say the agency [the EPA] needs to do a better job balancing efforts to protect the public from radiation exposure with other considerations. (Douglas P. Guarino, Global Security Newswire. September 23, 2013. LINK) ..."

MooPig Enterprises weeps. For five years we have tried to expose the bureaucratic bombast that pervades our modern existence. At present we at MooPig Enterprises can think of nothing more sinister than this: government agencies not reporting on the biggest disaster in human history.

MooPig Tech Coroner :: "Pacific Ocean, PART 2"

"After we left Japan it felt as if the ocean itself was dead,'' Macfadyen says.
Retrieved by Pat Darnell  |  Oct 26, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK] Photo: Lindsey Hoshaw
"I've done a lot of miles on the ocean in my life and I'm used to seeing turtles, dolphins, sharks and big flurries of feeding birds. But this time, for 3000 nautical miles there was nothing alive to be seen. (GREG RAY. Oct. 18, 2013. LINK)"
The ocean is broken | Newcastle Herald: EXCERPT  |  " ... The wind still whipped the sails and whistled in the rigging. The waves still sloshed against the fibreglass hull. And there were plenty of other noises: muffled thuds and bumps and scrapes as the boat knocked against pieces of debris.

" ... What was missing was the cries of the seabirds which, on all previous similar voyages, had surrounded the boat. The birds were missing because the fish were missing.

" ... Exactly 10 years before, when Newcastle yachtsman Ivan Macfadyen had sailed exactly the same course from Melbourne to Osaka, all he'd had to do to catch a fish from the ocean between Brisbane and Japan was throw out a baited line. ... "

'via Blog this'

CONCLUSION
No fish, no turtles, no teaming gaggle of birds, no whales, no life... EQUALS... a dead Pacific Ocean. Every so often we at MooPig mourn the passing of a technology that has gone by the wayside due to modern, supply side driven technologies. Today, we mourn the passing of a very large technical part of the earth -- the Pacific Ocean. It has been polluted to its breaking point by civilization who does it in the name of "clean energy:" in the name of "security:" and in the name of "progress."

" ... What is the greatest threat to humanity? We are, of course….and our technology. Like a dangerous weapon in the hands of a child, technology has overtaken our capacity to control potential consequences. Oxford University’s Future of Humanity Institute, led by director Nick Bostrom, says we have entered this new kind of technological era that we have no track record of surviving.

Our technological intelligence may have the potential for creating a better world, but so far, in areas of the economy, genetics and biologics, arms and warfare, security and surveillance, as well as the environment and energy, technology is also completely indifferent to the law of unintended consequences.

Fukushima is what happens when we have the moral responsibility of infants and the technology of adults. (Dr Caldicott. March, 2011. LINK)... "

MooPig Uranium Update :: "Regulatory Issues - Canada"

Uranium Sources in Canada
Mashed articles by Pat Darnell | Oct 19, 2013 | Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

Regulatory Issues - Canada: "Canada eases foreign ownership restrictions for uranium mines Canada has agreed to waive for European companies a longstanding requirement that buyers take on a Canadian partner in uranium mines, a move that may spur greater investment in developing the country's rich uranium reserves.

The move, part of the Canada-European Union free trade agreement announced on Friday (Oct. 18), comes after intense lobbying from France-based AREVA SA and Anglo-Australian Rio Tinto Plc for Canada to scrap the Cold War era policy.

Canada, the world's second biggest producer of uranium behind Kazakhstan, currently restricts foreign companies from owning more than 49 percent of any uranium mine.

There are no ownership restrictions on foreign participation in exploration. Lifting the requirement for European companies would appear to benefit Areva, in which the French government owns a controlling stake. Areva owns the Kiggavik project in the northern Canadian territory of Nunavut. (Reuters Oct. 18, 2013)"

'via Blog this'

This article is tough to decipher, but it refers to "Cold War" years policies. Mining Uranium and other heavy metals are opening up markets around the  world, while previously "foreign ownership" was not allowed in, for instance, Canadian uranium mining companies.

We did not know that Canada is second largest in producing uranium.

Originally nuclear power plants were built to manufacture clean energy, that is, a power plant that doesn't let loose CO2 into our atmosphere. That was over sixty years ago. On November 23, 2009, MooPig Uranium Department reported on conditions leading to saturation of CO2 in our air by the end of this century:
'The U.N. expert group projects that such a path would raise global temperatures between 4.3 and 11.5 degrees Fahrenheit by century's end." (AP, Nov 23, 2009. LINK)

CONCLUSION
No matter how much reporting, or how many UN statements are made, the race to fill earth's atmosphere with CO2 goes on full tilt.

Nuclear energy was touted to be the clean energy source and mining of Uranium continues, all-be-it an industry that got its chops started in the Cold War Era. Foreign ownership of Canadian uranium mines sets a new precedent.

As a race of beings, humans on earth continue to live off of the geological distant past that produced a large non-renewable source of fossil fuels found in the ground in North America and around the world.

MooPig Tech Coroner :: "Nuclear Power Plants"

Blunders Cast Doubt on Japan’s Cleanup of Nuclear Accident Site
Mashed articles by Pat Darnell | Oct 12, 2013 | Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

We are seeing the demise of yet another technologic wonderment from the 20th century. Nuclear power plants seemed like the answer to all humankind's energy problems back when nuclear fusion was all the craze. All we asked for was clean super hot steam to turn our turbines in generating electricity power for our existence.

It turns out, the payback for mistakes and design flaws is life altering fallout of radioactive material in our air, water, and land. Cleaning up the mess of a meltdown is near impossible. Japan is not saying much about " ... Tepco who has resorted to technological quick fixes that have failed to control the crisis, further damaging Japan’s flagging credibility and only deflecting hard decisions into the future. Some critics said the government’s new proposals offer just more of the same. ( MARTIN FACKLER. Published: September 3, 2013. LINK) ..."

[Picture LINK]

" ... Most commentary on the Fukushima plant focuses on the multiple leaks of water laced with high- and low-level radiation. An estimated 300 tons of highly toxic water, including Strontium-90, has leaked from a hastily constructed tank. This became a level-3 crisis on Aug. 21, “serious” on the United Nation’s 7-point International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale, and represents the most urgent reported problem at the plant since the initial meltdowns. ( ANDREW DEWIT AND CHRISOPHER HOBSON. Aug 29, 2013. LINK)..."

Government must take over Fukushima nuclear cleanup | The Japan Times: "Even under ordinary circumstances spent-fuel removal is a difficult task, normally requiring the aid of computers. But due to the damage, removal of spent fuel from Reactor No. 4 and the five other reactors will have to be done manually. This work will be undertaken in arduous conditions, increasing the risk of yet another mishap. And if something does go wrong, the consequences could be far more severe than any nuclear accident the world has ever seen. If a fuel rod is dropped, breaks or becomes entangled while being removed, possible worst case scenarios include a big explosion, a meltdown in the pool, or a large fire. Any of these situations could lead to massive releases of deadly radionuclides into the atmosphere, putting much of Japan — including Tokyo and Yokohama — and even neighboring countries at serious risk."

'via Blog this'

[Picture LINK] "The problem with a fuel pool criticality is that you can't stop it. There are no control rods to control it,” Gundsersen said [Arnie Gunderson, a veteran US nuclear engineer and director of Fairewinds Energy Education]. “The spent fuel pool cooling system is designed only to remove decay heat, not heat from an ongoing nuclear reaction."

MooPig Tech Coroner :: "Nuclear Missiles"

Uranium and Other Heavies
Half-life Articles Mashed by Pat Darnell  |  Sep 20, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Picture LINK]

I have a friend on faceBook who has been posting blurbs about movement of Uranium ore around the world. It seems the mining and handling of Uranium is a clusterfrak, like everything else in the world of technology, industry, banking, living, etcetera ... etcetera ... etcetera. The uranium supply chain is prone to misdirection or black-market-like foiles, and used as a political football, or is it ... no one really knows. But from her blurbs I gather that the primary motivator in mining uranium and other heavies is "Money, Profit, and Corporations' Financial Health."

It turns out the mining, processing, refining, enrichment of uranium and other heavy metals continues despite the end of the Cold War. Yes, MooPig Uranium Enrichment Department is a musky closet with spider webs and the smell of Grandpa.

Very little is ever discussed about uranium and rare earth metals. If you search faceBook for "uranium" you get a page about a social club. We have missiles in rural areas throughout the USA, and many more that are in unknown locations. The entire Titan II missile and its underground silo is a toxic chemical nightmare.
" ... Absent the Soviet threat, it's easy to forget that these ungodly devices are still all around us. An entire generation, as Schlosser told me recently, is blissfully unaware of the specter of nuclear devastation. (Michael Mechanic | Sun Sep. 15, 2013. LINK) ... "
Special thanks to rebellious Mother Jones Magazine for posting a review on Eric Schlosser's new book, Command and Control. Schlosser tells of danger lurking in American landscapes that could match the Japanese Earthquake-Tsunami-Nuclear Disaster at Fukushima. If one of these "dormant" Titan II nuclear missiles was caught in an earthquake, it would blow up in dozens of ways, for dozens of reasons.
" ... The nose cone on top of the Titan II was deep black, and inside it sat a W-53 thermonuclear warhead, the most powerful weapon ever carried by an American missile. The warhead had a yield of nine megatons—about three times the explosive force of all the bombs dropped during the Second World War, including both atomic bombs. (Michael Mechanic | Sun Sep. 15, 2013. LINK) ... "
A Sneak Peek at Eric Schlosser's Terrifying New Book on Nuclear Weapons | Mother Jones: "Here's the truth: Just days after JFK was sworn in as president, one of the most terrifying weapons in our arsenal was a hair's breadth from detonating on American soil. It would have pulverized a portion of North Carolina and, given strong northerly winds, could have blanketed East Coast cities (including New York, Baltimore, and Washington, DC) in lethal fallout."
" ... EXCERPT  | Eric Schlosser: 'I spent some time with the Air Force ... I was interested in the future of warfare in space: space weapons, particle-beam weapons, lasers, directed-energy devices. A lot of the people who were involved in it had started their careers as missile-crew officers. As I spent time with them, I became more interested in their stories from the Cold War about nuclear weapons than I did in the future of warfare in space. ... I find it remarkable how little public attention has been paid to the safety of nuclear weapons since the end of the Cold War.' (Michael Mechanic | Sun Sep. 15, 2013. LINK)... "
'via Blog this'

CONCLUSION
Friendly fire and collateral damages will be understatement if one of our own nuclear warhead missiles does detonate on American soil. Our US Government, and all its affiliate corporations working for it, has misinformed the American public about the threat of this happening.

We quoted it once, we'll do it again -- this one is for you Dr Patton:

LINK)... "

To Nuke; or not to Nuke

While you were Celebrating Presidents' Day, Iran was Enriching Uranium

The Herald-Sun - Sources U S sees Iran s leaders split on nukes: "'We see a disturbing confluence of events -- an Iran that is increasingly rigid, autocratic, dependent on coercion to maintain control and defiant toward the West, and an Iran that continues to advance its uranium enrichment capabilities along with what appears to be the scientific, technical and industrial capacity to produce nuclear weapons if its leaders choose to do so,' he said."
