4 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘American Recovery
5 and Reinvestment Act of 2009’’.

5 of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated,
6 for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2009, and for
7 other purposes.

10 SEC. 1101. PURPOSES AND PRINCIPLES.
11 (a) STATEMENT OF PURPOSES.—The purposes of

12 this Act include the following:
13 (1) To preserve and create jobs and promote
14 economic recovery.
15 (2) To assist those most impacted by the reces16
sion.
