MooPig Report from the Middle :: Idle Chat back in the Day

Back in the day, the 60's through the 80's men had a very different role in American society. When men of this era were recruited for jobs they had to make a decision to be part of the machine, or not. IBM for instance made their dress code look like Men in Black. Technicians wore black suit, black thin tie, and black Oxfords.

Men in the office were dressing like you see in the TV series Mad Men. Everyone who did not join the machine and work for the Man, was dressing in tie die and jeans. In other words what you wore described your social leanings. Thus, was my Dad, progressive JFK/LBJ all the Way, 60's mad man of the century.

"What's the good word," my Dad would say often to open up a conversation.

Another of Dad's openers was, "In the future people will stand in line for everything."

And it wasn't about ambition, it was about playing the game. Either you were in, or you were out. Curmudgeons not accepted. There was no time to dilly dally about your role in the game. And the game had a beginning, a middle, and an end. Be prepared, like a good Scout.

So when I met his buddies I always said, "How's it going? Are you in the money?"

But, what is happening today?

There is a kind of speed of thought disruption in today's rhetoric; and this new speed has no limits. It is leading to impatience in people who are tired of the old crappy sayings. Why don't we see any improvements? I think it is because we are not yet twenty years into our new century. After which rhetoric will catch up with itself. Things candidates are saying today in debates and press opportunities consist of old archaic, troubled dumbo jumbo.

We are ready for a new vision, and for a quick end to old bullshit. Let's play leap frog and go directly to newer business models. Forget about old money, and move on to generation "Do It!" F12 that motha, and put a new hat on it. It is time for a happenin' that won't depend on brain-washed outmoded politicians and their minions.

"It" is on the horizon, but looks like it will only take place in the 2020's. Too much trash to remove today. And lots of excuses put out there by mouth pieces. So be patient-kind and DON'T rewind!

CONCLUSION
So, dear reader, are you in or are you out? And how you gonna' dress to prove your convictions? If you equate old times with stodgy old worn out platitudes, you might get left behind in the 2020's.

We are working on our speech that will summarize our near future. It will be something like leap frogging alternate living self-sufficiency on a five acre plot essay.

Whether you know it or not, there was a once upon a time where I was a pretty good alcoholic. Actually I wasn't pretty good, I was great. Every time I went out I got the high score. No one scored higher. Between amount consumed, bad decisions made, and people pissed off, I championed more than most. Anything worth doing is worth doing right, right?

I was living in Marthasville, Missouri at one of my peak times. It is the Wine Country of Missouri, go figure. I was scoring left and right at the "Drink till you Drop Wine Tasting Vineyards." I recently escaped from a particularly messy marriage, meaning I was a mess, and made a few key decisions.

Firstly, I was never going to get married again. That was obviously for chumps, much like college, right, Natan? Shut up, conscience! Secondly, I needed a gnarly beard to help scare off any potential chicks that wanted a piece of me.

I'm up late one night drinking who the heck knows what, when I decided that I was lonely. Time for a little female companionship. Where would I meet someone though? I'm an unemployed loser who lives in a friend's house. I wake up hungover at 3 PM everyday just about time my friends get off work so I can get my drink on.

In between "Clonus" and "Ankle Biters," a great horror movie about vampiric dwarfs, I saw a commercial for eHarmony. They touted that they had set up thousands of happy couples. "I've never been so happy," says some neatly dressed overweight nerd with a supermodel on his arm.

I slowly make my blurry way to the computer and slump into the chair. eHarmony.com pops up and tells me that I'll have "thousands of results in just a few minutes!"

"Sheesh! Thousands? All I need is one!" I think. I begin the process of inputting my information. This website asks me about every single aspect of my life from childhood to my religious views. Even though I'm at a particularly sarcastic point in my life, I decide it's time for me to take this thing seriously. So I answer as well as I can -- even taking time to really think about my answers between drinks. Two hours later, I'm finished; I take a deep breath and "submit".

What seems like hours tick by as I wait for my results. "Come on, " I'm thinking. "I don't need all 10,000 at once, just a couple hotties to chat up."

No results. None. Zero, eharmony comes back and informs that I am "un-match-able." Somehow in their internet database of hundreds of thousands of women with varying interests and feelings, I cannot be matched with any of them. I knew that I was a difficult dude but the idea that no one on the internet would want a guy like me had never passed through my mind.

Needless to say, I don't remember much of the rest of the night.

I should reiterate that I have since made changes in my life and don't feel quite the same way. In fact, I'm certain that is a direct result of my poor decisions that things kept working out for me the way they did. I'm hopeful that someone will marry me regardless of what eHarmony thinks. Just remember when you are trapped in a tunnel, watch where the rats go, they know the way out.

Quite the beard and quite the post, Natan. Also, I don't know when the last time was that I checked to make sure there is no permanent brain damage resulting from my propelling your noggin into the space between the car door and frame that one time in Helena (where I learned to never listen to anything Brig Heaps said ever again). Based on this post, you are able to write a coherent, humorous blog. I am relieved.

It has been cool this month. That is how we describe the weather when it is 70 highs and 45 lows, in Houston.

"I don't think we are going to get any freeze this year," says Robert Darnell, my 91 year old Dad.

Since Mom passed away last April, Dad is alone much of the day. He has a home health care helper, Treena, come in from 1 PM to 6 PM every day to help him in his routine. We dropped in on him for Christmas Day. Dropped in as in brought the kids, the dog, and lots of food. Dad eats like a bird.

He said he lost 20 pounds since his last year's physical, now weighing in at 145. He goes to the VA Hospital on 2002 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, in the Michael DeBakey VA Medical Center. Dad wears hearing aids in both ears since his hearing faltered. It was determined he lost much of his hearing ability during WWII when he was on a Destroyer in the Pacific. "Our guns pounding the Japanese during Okinawa, pop, pop, when Kamikazers were trying to sink us ..." Dad says.

Two days before Christmas Dad's home health helper drove him down to Pet Rescue. He thought he might try a small dog to keep him company. So he and Treena mulled over the group of pups in the shelter, and settled on a terrier. Another family thought they might like this pup too. But Dad did the paper work, and adoption process and took his new puppy home.

Treena and Dad showed her the back yard where she would do her business. They played with her in the house.

For the rest of the day the puppy sat calmly in his lap, and followed Dad around the house. Dad uses a rolling walker to get around. He has had a bum knee since he wrenched it a few years back. The VA told him it would take a knee replacement to fix it. But he decided after watching Mom go through that, that he would forego that surgery, "because he is too ole," and has settled for monthly shots that ease his knee.

"What kind of dog is she?" I asked Dad on the phone when I called to tell him we would be there
Christmas Day.

"She's a mixture Terrier," said Dad.

Everything went okay, Treena left for the day, leaving Dad with his new Pup. Around dusk the puppy followed her instincts, and got very riled and boisterous as she heard someone walking outside in the street. Dad puttered over to the front door and opened it. His new puppy tore out of the house and got on the heels of one of Dad's neighbors. It was a nightmare for Dad, because of his impaired hearing, and he has to go pretty slow with his walker on the uneven ground outside.

Dad had to go all the way out to in the street and try to get the puppy back in the house. With his neighbor's help some how they meticulously got the puppy to calm down and go back in Dad's house.

Dad continued his evening routine and eventually went to bed.

When he woke up he discovered several piles of doggy doo around the house. Things were looking bad for Dad's new companion. Dad of course, can't stoop like he used to, and he can't clean like he used to. So, when Treena returned in the afternoon, they took the puppy back to the shelter for the other family who also wanted her.

Report Card for Texas Infrastructure 2008 / 2012, a dismal "C"

Every 4 years, the American Society of Civil Engineers releases a Report Card for America’s Infrastructure that depicts the condition and performance of the nation’s infrastructure in the familiar form of a school report card by assigning letter grades to each type of infrastructure.

PART ONE: Local, Texas
There are twelve categories in America's report card:

1. Schools
2. Drinking Water
3. Waste Water
4. Dams
5. Solid Waste
6. Navigable Water Ways
7. Roads
8. Bridges
9. Aviation
10. Transit
11. Flood Control
12. Energy

Focusing on the report card for Texas, let's pick on one tiny part of this assessment, Modernizing Our Schools:  per National Education Association (NEA), Texas has a "D-" for Schools, which has not improved from 2008.

" ... From 2000 – 2010, the population of Texas grew 20.6% according to the U.S. Census. In 2010, 19.5% of the population in Texas was school age, a percentage that has remained relatively constant. These figures indicate a current increase in school populations of just about two percent per year. Texas enrollment is the fastest growing for the 15 most populous states over the last decade. ... "

Compare to a 50-state estimate of the need for school modernization in the United States along with recommendations: Key findings show the total funding needed for public school modernization is $321.9 billion, and that total funding needed for public modernization varies dramatically across states, ranging from $50.7 billion (New York) to $333 million (Vermont).

Texas spends just $8,908 per student each year, which is well under the national average of $11,463, according to the National Education Association. Per student annual spending dropped $500 after the Perry education budget was approved by lawmakers.

" ... In Texas, the gain in jobs from 2009 to 2011 has been a loss for the Texan student. During those same three years average spending per enrolled student declined 10.4%, while nationwide, the same measure increased 3.7 % over the same period, according to the Dallas News. " ... The conservatives of the Texas legislature are about to try again to fool the state's taxpayers into funding private schools with a voucher program. The Republican argument, which falls apart under scrutiny, has been that no child should be condemned to attend a failing public school. No conservative wants to talk about why the public school system might be troubled, however, nor do they contemplate the even greater long-term damages to be wrought by school choice. So, by deductive reasoning, Texas schools will stay at the substandard level of "D-" for a long time here after. Political fervor to not spend on public education will cause stammer in any attempt to pass bonds for education, or attract Federal funding for our ailing public schools. We think as the public schools go, so will the private schools. Let's call it "Dismal," a D-, for Texas school children. And Texas ends up with inadequate public schools.

' ... State Senator Dan Patrick (R), who promises to push a repackaged vouchers bill in the 2013 legislative session, portrays himself as the champion of parents wanting to free their children from the prisons of public school ignorance and failure. He is, instead, a lost horseman leading a misguided herd off of a cliff into a far canyon. Vouchers will create even greater disparities in educational quality and new forms of segregation. (James Moore. 1.06.2013. LINK) ... "

Question for you; let me know in the comments if you understand this "State funding" statement:

State funding to support school districts with debt principal and interest expenditures related to public school facilities is provided through the Instructional Facilities Allotment and the Existing Debt Allotment. These programs ensure equalized funding related to the Interest and Sinking (I and S) tax effort at rates of $35.00 per penny per student in ADA. The EDA assistance is limited to 29 cents of tax effort, a limit that does not apply to IFA. Higher property wealth school districts rely upon local tax property taxes and receive no state aid from these state aid sources. (ASCE Texas Section. LINK) ... "

So, in Texas, State funding for schools comes from property tax? Is that all they are saying? And the richer the community, the less that community receives for schools?

What will it cost to bring up our Nation's rating?

In context of our "federal" ailing infrastructure, we hover around a "D" grade overall. Proposed “key solutions” in the 2009 report, included:

• Increasing federal leadership
• Promoting sustainability and resilience
• Complementing a national vision
• Addressing life-cycle and maintenance costs
• Improving infrastructure investments from all stakeholders

How much? It will cost the United States of America $2.2 to $3.2  trillion: "the report estimated that $2.2 trillion is the required five-year investment to increase the infrastructure’s condition to “good.” ( Melanie Wong. May 7, 2012. LINK) ... "

CONCLUSION, more of a RANT:
The Rothschild's are worth about $700 trillion. (LINK). Bill Gates Net Worth: a measly $67 Billion as of March 2013 -- Harvard Drop Out -- (LINK). Current Governor of the state of Texas and Republican Presidential primary candidate Rick Perry has a net worth of $3 million. He's accumulated that net worth largely through his family's fortune, and his numerous published books... (LINK)

As we lie awake at night, with gurgling stomachs, and 3 AM beckons us to nervous paranoia ... our imaginations are taxed, and we perceive our children sleep in an unsure state of being.

What socio-pathic government morons are doing at this hour? I can only suspect they are sleeping the sleep of the evil damned. Their home life is not thwarted by their own "denial" and cock-a-mania "conservative agendas." Their children sleep in the throes of voucher privilege. Their infrastructure is covered by the government check they receive, and government vehicles they are given. Yes, given ease of living by us generous folk out here.

Those others, the sleeping rich guys, are born on third base, and never get the pleasure of gutting out a real life struggle to just get on first base, like us. Their idea of work is flying a jet airplane.

It always sounds like sour grapes from us at MooPig Enterprises. What it really is, is acid reflux. So, next time your State votes on education bonds, be sure you are on the right side of that matter.

None of these people pictured were in South Dakota, they weren't even on time for their own appointments. In fact they are only images of the people who were in the news today, for various reasons: wardrobe failure, pill popping, same sex kissing ...

But did you know that in South Dakota, crazy lights in the sky showed up for 4 days around January 6th?

That should add to the suspense of the night.

YANKTON, South Dakota  |  EXCERPT  "... I couldn't help but notice what looked like police lights ('cherries' or whatever they're called) in the sky to the south," the witness stated. "I was pretty sure there weren't any cop cars flying around that night, and the part of the sky I was looking at is a pretty busy flight path. On any day at any time of the day I see planes and especially helicopters flying by, usually flying northeast. This was definitely not a plane or helicopter."

Then the witness noticed a smaller object being ejected from the larger object. ... "

"A smaller thing like it appeared to fly out of and away from the first object. Its flight trajectory was a sort on parabolic curve toward the ground."

The second object seemed to affect cows on the ground nearby.

"And as soon as object number two disappeared behind background trees and houses I heard a herd of cows about a mile away freak out briefly. Nothing really happened; no cows were harmed and the diving craft didn't crash. But seeing that made me realize that there may be more of them. I looked around at the sky and spotted about four more of them but all were either smaller or at higher altitude than the first one."

These light patterns have been spotted now for four consecutive days.

"But every night there seems to be more of them. Thursday there were maybe about three or four of them. Friday, January 4, 2013, there were about six of them. Saturday night at about 1 a.m. there were at least 11. While I write this it's about 6:30 p.m. and they seem to have started early because instead of being on the eastern horizon, right now they are almost directly overhead, and other new developments are that they must be lower because they are much easier to see."

As the witness was writing the report, one object appeared to be at or near ground level.




"And about 15 minutes ago I saw something with all of those same flashing lights, but was much closer to the ground and I can see the shape of it - maybe triangle or stealth fighter shape. There are no military bases around here or anything else that should bring so much aircraft other than the usual traffic of private planes, crop duster planes and medical helicopters. Tonight is as interesting as all the other nights so, I guess the story continues to unfold."

No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on January 6, 2013. The above quotes were edited for clarity. Yankton is a city in and the county seat of Yankton County, SD, population 14,454.

South Dakota is a current UFO ALERT 5 rating, with a low number of UFO sightings nationally. South Dakota had 2 reports in December 2012 - the 43rd highest reporting state while California had 75 reports - the highest reporting state in the nation.

HERE IS THE UFO REPORT AS WRITTEN:

January 3, 2013, 10:30 p.m., Yankton, Yankton County, SD - for 4 consecutive nights, becomes visible on east horizon after dark, then between 8 pm and 6am move across sky going west. Case 45060.

on Thur Jan 3rd I went outside to smoke and was about ready to go to bed. It was about 10:15 pm. I couldnt help but notice what looked like police lights ("cherries" or whatever theyre called) in the sky to the south. It is 8 PM on a Sunday night and I am watching the football game.

First let me give some back story: Last Summer 2011, in Bryan TX it was bone dry and many things happened because of that dryness. Lakes and waterways shrank, cattlemen sold off their beef cattle herds, and state wide 301 million trees died.

" ... A September report issued by Texas A and M Forest Service indicated Texas lost more than 300 million trees to the 2011 drought.

Burl Carraway, Texas A and M Forest Service Forest Resource Development and Sustainable Forestry Program manager, said earlier the region from Lufkin to Beaumont, where the state's heaviest forest production is located, suffered the least.

Of the region's nearly 600 million trees, only 7.5 million have died, he said, or 1.3 percent, based on studies of satellite imagery.

Experts say tree death is a natural forest process, but the drought pushed the numbers higher.

What is the typical demographic in Central Texas, based on television prime time hours from 8 PM to 10 PM? I will watch the NBC Sunday Night Football Game and take notes on commercials during airing of Green Bay Packers at New York Giants stadium. Is the male prime time TV game watching person concerned with this drought catastrophe?

Here I go -- starting in the middle -- I watched and noted what commercials aired and at what approximate time they were posted in correlation to happenings in the game: this is an eye opener. I am thinking that this will tell me what kind of demographic is being "talked" to through the subliminal language of the TV commercial.

I watched from about 8:20 PM till 10:42 PM. That is two hours and twenty minutes. During that time I sat through 118 commercials. That is approximately 65 minutes out of 140 event minutes, set aside for commercials.

In that investment of one hour and five minutes, I am given choices of lifestyle and products needed for these life style adumbrations. And that would be a great thing if any of the suggestions pertained to anything actually happening in the world today.

In fact Screw the Trees; forget the stinking drought; don't miss the Dan Patrick Morning Show on NBC.

Not one commercial mentions alternative fuel. Nor did any infomercial give any solutions to health issues of the twenty first century man. No the over all message played as a mid-life crisis adjustment strategy. Buy a LEXUS, go online this week for Cyber Week Wal-Mart.com for your holiday shopping, purchase a Citizen Watch and never have to change the battery, and catch the latest Tom Cruise movie!

And as you cruise around in your LEXUSSENTERA CREW-CAB HEMI DODGE RAM, stop and eat lots of sandwiches.

According to the National Association of Homebuilders, although home sales were down in recent years, this niche product "multigenerational" appears to be solid and growing.

What has happened in the housing market is that it has become impossible to sell a house while buying a house. In the past a seller could make the switch within a reasonable time. The federal government yelled FRAUD, and made everyone suspect to fraudulent practices. Loan underwriters barricaded themselves in a reactionary system of checking a buyer's closing papers over and over and over into oblivion. The switch from old house to new house has taken a turn for the worse. A buyer might end up waiting a full year for his financing to go through. That means paying two mortgages while waiting.

Families today might  opt to add wings to their casa's, wings and "L's" and mother-in-law additions, on property already paid for. Sounds like an old idea when children got married and the mother and father would build a house adjacent to the old farmhouse. In other words the children stayed close to the farm.

In the last century,with post-modern building came the idea of single family dwellings and efficiency's. You choose a parcel of land with a dwelling on it. That dwelling is usually designed to be the least for the most, or smallish rooms overall, with great rooms instead of living rooms or dining rooms.

Today, in the 21st century, formal living has given way to ubiquitous spaces. And work a day has been chopped into work a shift, while shopping has become bulk shopping, and storage for that is nil in post-modern dwellings. There is a shortage of storage space and closets in modern efficient home design.

As the article says: "... Though it was not financial woes that initially drove Bruno and her family to move in with her parents ... they had "temporarily" moved in after the housing collapse made it impossible to sell and buy simultaneously ... "

History Repeating Itself Just prior to World War II, a quarter of Americans lived with extended family, as the U.S. struggled through the Great Depression. But by 1980 the number of such households was slashed by half -- down to 12 percent from 25 percent in 1940. But that number has risen again -- spiking as the Great Recession hit in 2008, experts say. The Pew Research Center now estimates that 16 percent of Americans live in multigenerational households. ..."

Pew reports that the poverty rate among those who live in multigenerational homes is significantly lower than those who don't live with other adults other than a spouse or partner. Additionally, multigenerational households have much higher median incomes than other "average" households ($48,542 vs. $41,115 in 2009). ... "

According to homebuilder Tusino, who owns New England's largest housing developer, the rise in multigenerational households over the past few years has changed the landscape of modern home construction. The GBI-Avis CEO said that many families are now looking to either build a multigenerational-friendly home from scratch -- more informally known as the "in-law" setup, with separate entrances, custom floors and sections that feature senior-friendly kitchenettes, bathrooms and amenities -- or retrofit their existing structure with a modular room to accommodate extended family.

" ... But will these multigenerational living arrangements stick, or is this just another retro fad? According to Pew, if the demographic forces of immigration and delayed marriage continue, along with economic forces such as unemployment and a depressed housing market, we should certainly expect to see more and more families come together under one roof to rally resources and provide each other emotional support. ... ? ..."

It looks like designers will be putting the extra rooms into conforming formats that don't deviate from neighborhood regulations for housing. Same old facades, modified interiors. Two problems stand out immediately. One, where are the extra automobiles going to be parked, and two, there will be a need for a large storage pantry, for bulk grocery buying.

MooPig suggests that this is a retro-fad that is following the stark realization that we cannot afford two mortgage payments, and if we could, we would have built for multigenerational possibility in the first place.
We would have bought more acreage to begin with, then we would have put a larger shack on it, with plenty of "Guest Rooms."

So we look for the middle weird floor plan and here is 'Balls and All' ...

Marvelous, now you can summon your Earnings Per Share, EPS, on your Disney stock... and watch that blue chipper soar... or not. Is this just another old guy looking to cash in on his long held business?

With Star Wars Episode 7 due out in 2015 ... will it be animated totally using zoo animals? I think we can forget about creativity for now. This is 'bidness' and it talks mighty to the net earnings crowd. Like we say at MooPig Creative Counsel Meetings, the more bidness, the less creativity.

With all bidness practices now being challenged throughout the world, I wonder if the New World Order Crowd has upgraded their modus operandi. Has Rothschild decided to change his name again; to something more NWO-ie... like "Zanzibar," or *[Google: 'catchy new world order names']* ... phone rings, dead air and some heavy breathing, no one talking... "Nibiru" new world order News planet ...?

We have obliterated the fine lines between one-of-a-kind creative genius in our time. Tragic, but true. It is our post-modern contribution to arts and entertainment; for now. You want it and you want it now, no point in telling you that "what you want" has a one year delivery time on it!

Disney should own all the cartoony stuff... why not? One day satellite Disney will start to orbit the earth like the moon, and we will have Wizards of Waverly on our headsets.

I still say we should lease Washington, DC, to Disney for 99 years, and let them turn it into a theme park. Criminy, yes, and then let the federal government could move around to different cities every six years. Most two term Presidencies last about six years, the last two years of presidency are lame duck activities like foreign affairs, and catching up on state trips around the world that weren't taken in the first six years.

Sure thing: six years in Denver, another six in Salt Lake City, hell maybe even a six year gig in Paris, who knows... the federal government butt buddies could govern from across the pond, away from all this climate change malady.

Oh, what about the federal government paper stuff? We know that can be housed in a medium sized metal building in a secret place provided by our military. We should make sure the terabyte computers are all waterproof though... *[lessons learned from Hurricanes Sandy and Katrina.]*

How It Works/Example: Let's assume that during the fourth quarter, Company DISNEY GALAXY reported net income of $400 trillion. During the same time frame, the company had a total of 10 million shares outstanding. In this particular case, the company's quarterly earnings per share (or EPS) would be ...

... hmmmmm calculated as follows: *[wait a minute we need a calculator... call the Calculator Department, Nathan]*

... $400 trillion / 10 million shares = $4,000,000 or at current dollars adjusted for future inflation is about $0.40 centavos ....

So, keep believing in your blue chipper funds, they will certainly keep the private sector alive, just barely.

So a 191-page report on a prospective member that already had a Top Secret clearance seems rather dubious. In fact, I'm surprised Jobs put up with the interviews and didn't throw out the FBI investigators when they began to grill him about his drug use, which he admitted to. I'd like to know why they didn't take his statement as a confession and throw him in jail on the spot.
So now, we get to see the late Steve Jobs' name dragged through the mud after cooperatively agreeing to do public service.
