MooPig Brain Industries :: Bipolar Triggers

[Picture LINK]

Bipolar Disorder: Tracking Triggers
Mixed Martial Articles by Pat Darnell  |  Mar 21, 2016  |  Bryan TX

Life events, anxiety, and even physical changes can cause a mood swing. What triggers an episode of mania or depression varies from person to person. Here are some typical physical triggers, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

  • Not getting enough sleep
  • Using alcohol or drugs
  • Stopping your medicine
  • Beginning antidepressant medication (this can cause a switch to mania)
  • Hypothyroidism (low thyroid function, a possible side effect of lithium medication, often used to treat bipolar illness)

Emotional stress and big or small life changes can also cause mania or depression. The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance gives these examples:

  • Major life change like moving or starting a new job
  • Arguing with a friend or loved one
  • Financial problems

Louisa Sylvia, PhD, a psychologist at the Bipolar Clinic and Research Program at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston says, “Changes in daily routines, such as staying up late studying or flying to another time zone, can cause a mood swing.”

MooPig Brain Industry Department :: "Stroke Indicators"

Stick out Your Tongue
Mixed Mashed articles by Pat Darnell  |  May 25, 2014  |  Bryan TX

I URGE ALL MY FRIENDS TO READ & SHARE THIS; YOU COULD SAVE A LOVED ONES LIFE BY KNOWING THIS SIMPLE INFORMATION!!!
Stroke has a new indicator! They say if you forward this to ten people, you stand a chance of saving one life. Will you send this along? Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue:
During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ...she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.
They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.
Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 PM Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.
It only takes a minute to read this.
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and
Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A
SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. Chicken Soup)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue
NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is
'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.
A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.
I have done my part. Will you?

MooPig Brain Industry :: "Brain Initiative"

We Wonder if Barry reads Our Stuff ...? or, Have Brain: Need Map!
By Pat Darnell  |  Oct 7, 2013  |  Bryan TX

[Craniotomy Picture LINK]

MooPig Wisdom Enterprises does not toot its own horn -- except this one time. Back in April 2013 the White House led by Barry Obama announced the "Brain Initiative." And why we toot our own horn is because we thought of it first. In fact we were talking about brain industries a decade ago. Brain references began early in our MooPig Wisdom blog: here --Brainstorm: Smaller world, bigger market
JavaJoy, Inc. ..., By Patrick Darnell, Marketing Research Practices, ... and here -- Ever thought about letting professionals do your Marketing?  ...   GI, Going International  ... and ...  Generalists have a place in Tech... Everyone needs Pedagogy once in a while  ...  all "brain-storming" articles from online courses taken in 2006. Brain tickling such as:
" ... Editing, reducing, summarizing, looking for patterns, and applying statistical techniques to data will provide advanced knowledge of customer segments, and loyalty. ... "
We even wrote this poem in 2000:
Brain Industries
My brain is mysterious
it contains all that I am
a macro in a skull of bone
... mind you, mind me, my mind.

It says all the time
I am what I eat
Yet it eats everything
and I do ...
mind you, mind me, my mind.

Some might say
'You control the brain
then you control the heart...'
Not so ...
...

My brain is libido,
my heart is motion;

Think,

This brain sits
While the heart runs

... times factors in billions ...

Do you get it?
Patrick Darnell (10.2000)

And this free verse in 2010:
Visitors and Brain Industries
Elongated cranium
fashion from
Sirius B and A,
Potolo Ama,
and Dogons,
knew it --
"Star Knowledge"
nomenclature
told through oral culture.

Artisans -- split apart hybrids ...

Catalogers left to hash it out ...

Sirius B -- how far away is that?

Zuni -- 1200 BC
Egypt is at bat

Dogon Spacemen
visitors, Sky People
Keepers of Space

Cachinas:
Dance each year
in full head dress
in costumes to re-enact
coming of Space gods
and elongated cranius
That's a fact!

CONCLUSION
What we have learned over the past fifteen years is that understanding of our beautiful Brains' Industry is that it is in its infancy, and any body of knowledge about Brains is going to be out of date before it can be printed. Brain Initiative by Barry Obama pontificated on April 2, 2013, initializes work toward the goal of "mapping the activity of every neuron in the human brain, an initiative that has been projected to cost more than $300 million per year for ten years."

In a news conference on April 2, 2013, President Obama announced "that he would seek an initial expenditure of $100 million for fiscal year 2014." In a January 2013 meeting, a group of neuroscientists concluded that "the project would generate about 300 exabytes of data every year, presenting a significant technical barrier."

Furthermore, the usefulness of most of the currently available high-resolution brain activity monitors is limited because they are highly invasive, being implanted by a process that involves surgically opening the skull.

MooPig Wisdom and all its Enterprises are tickled pink to be an axle hub on the wagon of this pioneering event -- the sorting out of Brain Industries as to be discovered by the Brain Initiative 2013. Open your minds; open your skulls. Have Brain -- Will Travel.

SUMMARY
Eight years of work, thousands of researchers around the world, $1 billion spent — and finally it was done. On April 14, 2003, a decade ago this week, scientists announced that they had completed the Human Genome Project, compiling a list of the three billion letters of genetic code that make up what they considered to be a sort of every person’s DNA.

And, now, it's the Brain's turn!!

[Picture LINK] CAPTION: "My name is Dana. In April of 2012, I was diagnosed with...unfortunate brain news. This is where you can read and watch my story unfold. I had a bean-sized mass / tumor / house boat living in my brain that I was on a quest to destroy. After one crazy craniotomy in July of 2012, we discovered it was a low-grade neuronal neoplasm--a rare but FORTUNATE form of growth. I will still have to get quarterly bi-monthly MRI's to monitor the remaining bits of the tumor, but I'm cool with this as long as I get a cupcake afterwards. My tumor's name is Brain Worm, Clampy, James, or Neutron Dance. I also talk in a strange language like one of the Navi." [unfortunatebrainnews@gmail.com]

MooPig's Brain Industry :: "Al Sears, MD"

Al Sears, MD
11903 Southern Blvd., Ste. 208
Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411
October 1, 2012
Dear Patdarnell,
Wow, the things that nutrients can do for us...
I was interested in brain health way before I ever became a doctor. I was always curious about how nutrients affected the brain.
I remember seeing the natural health pioneer Durk Pearson on The Merv Griffin Show talking about the role of three things I had never heard of and could barely pronounce at the time.
He talked about phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylethanolamine and how they come together in brain chemistry to increase the memory neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
I thought, “Wow, this guy is really on to something.” So I went and did some research and started mixing things together and I swear I think it had an immediate effect on my memory.
It convinced me then that these things like vitamins and nutrients are real, and you can feel their effect. I was 15 at the time.
In my practice today, I have found one nutrient that gives me and my patients more of a boost in brain power that anything else I ever used. And most doctors today don’t even know about. It’s called acetyl L-carnitine (ALC).
It’s an exceptional brain supplement and I’ve seen how it has restored razor sharp thinking to my patients who take it. Studies show that when you have a deficiency in mitochondria – the engines that supply your energy – and reverse that through supplying the brain with
ALC, it rebuilds the brain.1 ALC also:
  • Gives you more stamina and improves mood and memory.
  • Enhances the release of dopamine from neurons and increases other beneficial brain chemicals like GABA and acetylcholine.2
  • Keeps brain cells young – older animals given ALC start acting much younger because it repairs the aging hippocampus in their brains.3
When researchers started looking deeper into how ALC worked, they found it stimulates your brain to grow more neurites – the branches that are extensions of your brain cells. These let brain cells communicate with each other. And ALC does this at the same rate as your body’s own nerve growth stimulant called “nerve growth factor” (NGF).
Today, we’ve discovered why... because ALC stimulates NGF itself. It also helps keep the receptors for NGF healthy and vital.
In fact, they now use ALC as a treatment for different types of nerve injury because it completely protects neurons, the brain cells that help you retain information.4 ALC is the main form, but there’s also acetyl carnitine arginate. One study found that ALC arginate protected neurons from the effects of the beta-amyloid plaque found in patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s.5
Some formulas mix both of these, which is an excellent way to get ALC. However, look for a formula that that has only l-carnitine and not D,L-carnitine. D-carnitine is synthetic, and it interferes with the action of natural l-carnitine.

If you’re interested in boosting your mental focus, I recommend 250 mg of ALC every day.
You can get some of the same effect by taking liquid l-carnitine, and combining it with a cofactor that will give your brain more energy and help your body create acetyl l-carnitine on its own. I like vitamin B12 for this purpose. You don’t need much; only 500mcg to 1mg. And, B12 is also available in liquid form so you can take them together.
To Your Good Health,
Al Sears, MD

MooPig Brain Industries :: BRAINDANCING SMORGASBORD: SYNVERGENT THINKING: Mind-Mapping, PhotoReading & Syntopicon Method

Retrieved by Pat Darnell | May 19, 2012 | Bryan TX

The Internet is the most interesting purveyor of Brain Science. It is a giant mind-map all its own. I had not surfed the Net for a while, but as soon as I did here jumps out this amazing blogger site. Cool brain industry all the way, Bob.

Take a Look.

What is essential to understanding is how much we retain of our reading and other stimulus gathering tasks. It is a sin to read and not retain some of the important parts. And, those of us 'with-out' the gene's that make us a few points near genius with photographic memories, mind mapping always seems pleasurable to the not so genius, mine, brain.

Call this a site review, but more than that ... it is a look into solving puzzles that we might have been stumped with for a lifetime.

MooPig Brain Industries :: "Improve your Brain Health - Lumosity"

Conclusion
Lumosity costs about $80 per year but there is a trial available on the site. The monitization scheme is the down side for me and probably a million other potential users. The exercises are fun and obviously effective in stimulating the suggested areas of cognitive ability. As for Lumosity's extended claim of increased cognitive ability, I obviously cannot say. I do tend to remember the items on the grocery list better and I can now spot a yellow bellied sapsucker while reading a speed limit sign. Seriously, research has shown that exercising brain faculty in this way is helpful and healthful. As for paying $80 to hone these skills, I think free games that emulate Lumosity could probably be aggregated by most users, but progress would be more difficult to track... (August 12, 2007 | Phil Butler. HERE)

Improve your Brain Health - Lumosity:
Train your Brain, play some games, get a score to ponder and we haven't paid anything yet for Lumosity. But you can be sure you might eventually have to pull out your Debit Card to continue... but the introductory is kind of fun ... if you like games.
'via Blog this'

Picture Your Improvement With This BPI Chart

Lumosity users often ask how much they can expect to improve with training. The short answer is you can improve a lot. The chart included shows the average Brain Performance Index (BPI) for users as a function of the number of Lumosity games played, up to 1000 total games. BPI is Lumosity’s version of IQ — it measures your ability to handle the speed, memory, attention, problem solving, and flexibility challenges on Lumosity...
About a month ago I began testing a fascinating new beta called Lumosity. The service is designed to exercise user's brains with a series of games that promote cognitive skills. According to Stanford neuroscience graduate and Co-Founder Michael Scanlon these exercises build cognitive ability in processing speed, cognitive control and attention. Playing these fun and simple games for as little as 30 minutes a day can promote quicker thinking, improve memory, increase alertness, improve concentration and even elevate a user's mood.
Lumosity was created by Lumos Labs a cognitive R and D company that builds software tools to improve brain health. Lumos was started in 2005 by Kunal Sarkar, Michael Scanlon and David Drescher, all of whom possess impressive scientific and/or business credentials. Lumos Labs also has a scientific advisory board comprised of some of the leading neuroscientists in the world.

So, fellow partners in dementia, here is one of those articles that alerts us to a possible cure. But what will become of that cure as the months go by? Like all exposing articles on miracle cures, they are lost in time and space. They are in the News, then no word is ever heard again.

Therefore, it is up to us to follow up on all MooPig's Brain Industries past posts, and give an accounting. This category was intended to document some of the newest products and services that capitalize on Brain Science; and, is there a trend?

We at MooPig International plan to keep this up until we see an aisle at the Walgreen's titled: "BRAIN."

From the Picture at the top:
BBC News - Alzheimer's brain plaques 'rapidly cleared' in mice: "Specialists said the results were promising, but warned that successful drugs in mice often failed to work in people.

Researchers Paige Cramer said: "This is an unprecedented finding. Previously, the best existing treatment for Alzheimer's disease in mice required several months to reduce plaque in the brain."

The exact cause of Alzheimer's remains unknown, but one of the leading theories involves the formation of clumps of a protein called beta-amyloid. These damage and kill brain cells, eventually resulting in memory problems and the inability to think clearly."

Subjects for today:
  • Help reduce "Brain Fog" and Senior Moments"
  • Boost blood flow to your Brain
  • Support Nervous System Health
What's the scoop? The claim is that periwinkle's -- vinpocetine -- has miraculous power that:
"Keeps your brain stocked with the “feel-good” compound dopamine, which helps you direct your thinking and behavior - and stay motivated. To understand the key to vinpocetine’s power, you need to know just how much power your brain really needs."
Vinpocetine works in three remarkable ways:

1. It boosts blood circulation in your brain. It zeros in on your brain’s tiny blood vessels so they can deliver oxygen more efficiently. It even helps your brain use oxygen better.

2. Since it keeps your brain cells charged up with high oxygen levels, it increases the amount of time your brain can go without fresh oxygen. That means it can keep your brain cells from dying.*

3. It helps your body preserve its energy for a robust brain and power for healthy living.* It preserves something called “adenosine triphosphate” or ATP—the fuel every cell of your body needs to function.

" ... [This] study published just last year in the prestigious Journal of Neurological Sciences found that in people suffering from limited stroke damage, it had an almost magical healing effect. It directed blood right to the affected areas. (8)
" ... Thinking and overall brainpower got a significant boost from vinpocetine in another clinical trial involving a 12-week long oral treatment. “Psychometric” tests gauged levels of higher brain function, with additional monitoring of participants’ overall mental health. After three months, the increase of blood flow velocity while at rest was significantly higher in the vinpocetine group.(8 Vas et al. “Functional neuroimaging in multiple sclerosis with radiolabelled glia markers: Preliminary comparative PET studies ....” 2008. Journal of the Neurological Sciences. 264(1-2):9-17.) ... "

Brain Industries :: Labeled, Desensitized, and Redirected -- Part TWO American Football under Review

Football Pitch-man Dies at Age 72
Retrieved by Pat Darnell and the Herd

... A lot of people say to me: "Pat what are you doing?" ...

ME: "I am behaving in an obsessive, compulsive manner that is in concert with my brain and how it functions. I am clipping articles, like you may have seen so many others end up doing... sort of a trail of 'wonder' ... shall I apologize?"

They ask: "HUNH? What does that mean?"

ME: "Only, this type of clipping is like a digest of things that spark random highlights in my dendrites, but I get to Cut\Paste with a PC, all night, if I wish."

They ask: "Then why this article on Don Meredith?"

ME: "I see here that Dandy Don died from a brain hemorrhage, and he was a football player who received a minimum of 2000 knocks to the head in a year of football practice and game playing, for every year he was in football... and that could have led to nerve damage, or neck damage that he learned to live with ... although his brain had raspberries all over it from concussions ... causing him to die earlier than he might have .... say -- his life should have gone into the nineties, -- twenty years short, I'd say. Twenty years is a long time in human age.

Don Meredith
Meredith played for the Cowboys from 1960-68, taking them from winless expansion team to the brink of a championship.
"Dandy Don" died Sunday after suffering a brain hemorrhage and lapsing into a coma in Santa Fe, N.M., where he lived out of the limelight with his wife, Susan, for the last 25 years. He was 72.
Meredith was the life of the party in the "Monday Night" booth from 1970 through 1984, except for a three-year stint playing a detective on NBC's "Police Story." He spent 11 of those years teamed with another former star player, Frank Gifford, a friend before they became broadcast partners.
